I couldn't post on last thread so hope everyone finds this one!

Great pic annaB and what a lucky girl having four big brothers! I always wanted a big brother and not just because I imagined he'd have cute friends

AnnaR hope you're feeling better now. And glad everyone else seems to be doing ok. I turned 17 weeks a couple of days ago and so so so thankful that I'm eventually feeling much better! Absolutely wiped out by the end of the day but able to eat more now so I think energy will be back soon Smile

DH is off today, yay! Family coming for lunch and the sun is out...happy days

Thanks annab that's sort of what I was thinking - it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy I'm sure. I'll let you know what the midwife thinks - am really taken with the idea of Hypnobirthing - am trying to drag dh along (he thinks it's a bit hippy wavy Grin)
It's meant to be really good at helping with the fear associated with birth - even in hospital.

Welcome beakish and doll!

danni am also freaked out about the speed things are going! It's crazy

Found out today that the gorgeous village school in the gorgeous village (think Midsomer without the murders!) that we're moving to has spaces in reception for September for DS! Wooohoooo!!

Dollface136 · 17/05/2016 16:48

dilli if you are interested in hypnobirthing then both my SILs (3 kids a piece) recommended I try the natal hypnotherapy CDs and Workbook. You basically teach yourself at home. Mine arrived yesterday so am planning on giving it a go.

Dilligufdarling · 17/05/2016 16:59

doll that's an amazing coincidence! A FOAF. offered to sell me those very same ones today! Am really glad to hear they're good!
I don't really want to shell out for the full course, but hopefully the home study will be a good substitute.
Let me know what you think of them? I won't get mine until I meet her in a few weeks

0hCrepe · 17/05/2016 17:25

Ooh that sounds good. I went to a hypno session with ds (now 11years!) through the nhs as I had a lot of anxiety about something going really wrong. I had a cd to listen to then and It really helped not only get rid of negative thoughts but also feel calm through the labour, even when it was a bit of an emergency at the end. I've also ordered the juju sundin book which was recommended on here somewhere!

balalalala · 17/05/2016 19:47

Welcome newbies! Glad everyone seems to be doing well.

I've gone full nesting! We're currently getting the whole house painted and should be finished by tomorrow. I'm so pleased with it and keep walking in baby's room just for a look!

I ordered an Amazon baby box which arrived today and I'm really pleased with it. There's some good checklists for me as a first timer and the bits inside are all pretty good. The muslin in particular is lovely.

balalalala · 17/05/2016 19:49

Just looked back online and I only paid £10, it's now on at £45!

liberuna · 17/05/2016 23:12

Hi beakish do you know where in London you're moving to?

Hey doll we share the same due date!!
I had my scan yesterday and we're team pink!!! Healthy little jumping bean didn't want to keep still :)

Dilligufdarling · 18/05/2016 07:48

Yay! Congratulations lib on the lovely scan and on joining team pink!!

Annabrooke90 · 18/05/2016 07:51

I got the hypnobirthing dvd and cd with my last baby. He arrived abit too early for it to have the effects I wanted because I'd not been doing it long. But the bits I did do I used in the delivery room. I also used tens from early labour with my last two babies and can say for me the difference between coping with the pain was way better in my tens births than my two births before that without tens :) so something to think about too. I bought mine off ebay last time for 20.

beakish · 18/05/2016 08:17

Thanks for all the welcomes! Lovely to hear everyone's updates and nice to have a DD twin tazlet - although it took me a minute to work out what DD is, as I said I'm bit clueless!

We're going to be living in Brixton liberuna - I've lived in London before so know area quite well but it's been a few years and it will be pretty different this time around I think, with a new baby!

I'm not going to find out gender, very tempted during scan but decoded to keep it a surprise. Having no luck settling on any boys' names so I'm probably having a boy!

I'm going to contact Guys and St Thomas this week to see if they can register and book me in, even though I won't be arriving until early July. I may have to wait until then to register, but would prefer to be in the system and book for antenatal classes etc too...will see how I get on!

Dollface136 · 18/05/2016 08:53

Yay lib that's great news. We were very excited to be on team pink too. Such a relief to get the 20 week scan out the way.

Of course dill I'll let you know, I'm starting the CD tonight. I have had a look through the workbook, and so far have found it very interesting. There is a section at the front of questions for you to answer, and even writing down some of my fears about labour helped me be much clearer on notice a pattern of what is actually bothering me (medical intervention) versus what I am not so scared of (pain).

MrsCeee · 18/05/2016 16:57

Congratulations on joining Team Pink, Lib and it's good news that it all went well.

I've spent the last few days packing away the clothes we've bought for the bump and also going through some of DS old clothes. We've taken a few bags away to a charity shop already and I haven't quite finished yet. I'm still looking around for all the bits and pieces for DS's travel system so that can go too.

Balala, lucky you! I'm tempted to ask someone to paint some rooms for us instead of waiting for DH to finally get round to it. I doubt that would go down very well though.

Dilligufdarling · 19/05/2016 09:59

Morning all!
Why all of the packing mrs cree are you moving?
We're in the boring part of buying a house - solicitors searches etc, but are hoping to be in some time in June :)

Had my MW app yesterday and I was so pleased! She completely agreed with me the in my case the immediate cannulation is not necessary and because my pph was epis related rather than retained placenta, there's no greater chance of it happening for me (again) than there would be for any one else. She's going to check this with the senior MW on the team.
She also agreed that this would be the first intervention in a potential cascade so bed avoided if I'm after a natural birth.

I didn't go into quite how "holistic" I'm planning on going, just said I'd like a birth centre birth in a hospital if possible.

Hope the hb cd was good doll :)

Annabrooke90 · 19/05/2016 10:38

Brilliant news dilli :)

Dollface136 · 19/05/2016 10:51

That's great news dilli and wonderful your MW is being supportive of your choices. Yes the CD was really good actually. It's basically a 30 minute session, a quick 15 minute session and then you have the workbook to work through too. It's not as "hippy" as some I have listened to so for me I would recommend it.

liberuna · 19/05/2016 12:00

Thats really good to hear dilli

I used a CD for hypno birthing and it was great . Essentially how to keep calm and focus on breathing. You get similar techniques frim yoga.

Brixton is lovely beakish and guys and Thomas a good hospital

beakish · 19/05/2016 13:16

Thanks liberuna I'm really excited about living in Brixton, I lived in SE London before but a little further out. And good to know about the hospital too as I don't really have much to go on in choosing!

Dilligufdarling · 19/05/2016 17:42

Thanks all :) was definitely a relief to get her back up - feel like I'm not just be a crazed idealist now!

Doll that sounds perfect. Not sure I'd be able to concentrate if it was too hippy Grin

Mine's coming on Sunday - looking forward to it!

0hCrepe · 19/05/2016 21:18

That's nice for you dilli!
I had another scan this morning and she was more cooperative so he could see her spine. All fine. He also checked she was definitely a girl again for us! He also showed us how she was lying- across my tummy, can't believe she's quite big now!!

bailey23 · 20/05/2016 10:31

I haven't commented since the first thread and it's just taken me nearly 2 days to catch up on everything!
So, I'm now 22+1 (due 22/09) - having a little girl (1st pregnancy)
I wanted to get your ideas/opinions on a couple of things....

When should I start washing my babies clothes? I want to pack my hospital bag soon but I want the clothes/blankets etc washed

What's everyone doing in regards to mat leave? I have an office based job that isn't high stress or anything - but don't know if holding off (unless she has other ideas) until 37/38 weeks is a good or bad thing? I don't know how I'll feel then but have to book my leave soon. I want to spend as much time as I can with her before my leave ends and I have to return to work next year - confused.com! Confused

Dilligufdarling · 20/05/2016 11:48

Hi bailey! Welcome back :)

Re the baby clothes, my think is as long as they're packed then a few weeks extra in a bag isn't going to make them dirty or "stale" so I'd do it now if you're concerned about your hosp bag. It is still quite a long way off though so I'd certainly not be stressing yet.

We're movin quite soon (hopefully so I'm going to leave these sort of things until after the move, but that's the only reason.

Re mat leave, with DS I pushed it to 38+4 which was too long. My job is similarly desk based, but with quite a long commute and this time I'm going to go at 37w.
The last few weeks are exhausting due to the amount of extra weight and water (and not sleeping as well) and for all of us it's probably going to be HOT as well. I wished I'd not been so stubborn last time.

Whenever you go back to work, the first few days are going to be a bit of a wrench (but it does get easier!) and tbh a couple of extra weeks won't make it much better or worse, but imo an extra week/10days does make a difference before the baby comes.

Annarose2014 · 21/05/2016 09:41

Gosh, I never washed new clothes at all last time. Blush

They've all been up in the attic though so may do washing this time but not till last minute as couldn't be arsed tbh.

Also not sure where we'll put them! Last time we used the drawers in the baby room but DS is in there now so we can't go in and get anything after 6.45 which is when he goes to bed.

Besides we found last time everything ended up migrating to a spare kitchen cupboard as in reality we ended up changing/dressing the baby on the changing table on the travel cot in the kitchen anyway (best purchase ever by the way for the changing table alone). But now that cupboard is still full of DSs stuff as we still change him out of his sleep suit in the kitchen! So god knows where this baby's stuff is going to go. Serious reorganisation needed!

Hospital bag is a distant thing for me. Certainly won't bother before 36 weeks. And from experience half of it will be fizzy drinks and sandwiches! Grin Oh and bed socks. They were wonderful. Hospitals are freezing!

0hCrepe · 21/05/2016 11:00

I haven't got anything either apart from a couple of babygros that other people have given me. We need to find somewhere to put them! We'll be having building work starting quite soon so she will have a bedroom one day but till then she's squeezing in with us and I don't want to stock up yet!

Annarose2014 · 21/05/2016 11:11

We had DS in our room for 7 months. A lot of people do it for longer but by then I was desperate to get my room back! And have the light on to read!

I only Co-slept for the first month too. It served it's purpose in the newborn weeks but I soon got horribly claustrophobic not being able to thrash around to get myself comfy. The first night he went in the crib I think I slept like a starfish! Bliss!

LetThereBeCupcakes · 21/05/2016 11:18

I'm not washing anything at all at the moment as our brand-new, much awaited washing machine has just flooded the kitchen. Hmm. If I ever have access to a working washing machine again I'll probably put the stored baby clothes through a quick wash but won't wash new stuff.

25+2 now and lots of movement, usually in the middle of the night. I've not even thought about a hospital bag, or a birth plan! I'm so disorganised this time 'round. I did manage to spend some time sorting out in the baby's room a bit this morning, packing away some old stuff and getting it ready for DH to (hopefully!) paint soon. Unfortunately DS has Chicken Pox at the moment so I'm busy looking after him.

Anna I'm exactly the same, I hate feeling constricted! Also ended up co-sleeping for about 5 weeks and was so relieved when he finally settled in his moses basket!
