Thread #4 - TTC#1 the one where Stark joins the grads!!!!

Runner05 · 21/03/2016 12:33

Welcome to another riveting instalment of TTC#1 grads.

We've got new grads POAS every day just to make sure, 1st Trimesters wondering if they will be hit by the dreaded morning sickness or not, those approaching the hollowed promised land of the second trimester where all is good and the glowing will prevail... Those who have reached the second trimester and are thoroughly miffed at the lack of glowing.
We have scan photos, bizarre symptoms and the joys of baby shopping, and very importantly we now have Stark!

All are welcome on the wild gas powered ride that is TTC#1 grads Grin

Btw... Has anyone else noticed that pregnancy + tends to estimate baby size on the small side? I've been reading a few online articles about week 19 and all of them say Potato should be the size of a large mango, pregnancy+ says large mango is week 20... I've noticed this before but then it seemed to catch up. Very confusing Confused

Yes runner, all the apps differ tbh size-wise. I always go for the biggest option, my DH is 6'5' and I'm just under 5'10 so no doubt we'll have a big baby! I do find it annoying though how they all differ so much.

BunchOfBobs · 01/04/2016 13:16

I use both pregnancy-+ and Ovia for sizing Runner. It is weird how they estimate it. I always wonder if they mean in relative weight rather than shape or length as I'm pretty sure Pip is longer than a mango right now and won't be ball shaped tomorrow.

I think the dog is very aware of Pip this week, he'l also has form for being clingy when I'm ill so these cuddles are very welcome right now but he's been getting kicked and doesn't seem to care. It's so sweet.

Flipping heck, looked away for 5 minutes and it's all going on!
Bunch your dog is so sweet! How are you feeling now? Hope the dizziness and blackouts have eased?

Miley so pleased all is well with your scan! Must have been a nerve-wracking time for you...fingers crossed you don't have anymore bleeding Flowers

Soda how are you doing? As others have said, at least things have been discovered now rather than later. Have they advised you have the stitch?

I had a busy day yesterday running around and noticed LO's movements when I sat down for 5 minutes around lunchtime. Used to get more in the evening, but this morning I felt more movements when I woke up! Looks like this one won't be settling into a nice pattern for me to monitor then...! It could make it difficult to tell if there is 'reduced movement' or a 'change in pattern'...Runner Bunch are you noticing movements at a particular time of day, or are your LO's jumping around whenever they feel like it?!

God it doesn't get any easier as the weeks progress, does it?!

Morwenna1 · 01/04/2016 13:32

According to Ovia, I now have a baseball cap...hmm!

Runner05 · 01/04/2016 13:35

aww cute dog Bunch what breed is he?

Mor I pretty much feel him whenever I'm sitting still. But he gets more active after I've eaten... Or yesterday, while I was eating... We didn't like the food lol

OP posts:
BunchOfBobs · 01/04/2016 13:48

Mor same as Runner I feel him whenever I'm sat still and around meal times. He's really active as soon as I wake up. I asked the midwife yesterday when should I monitor movements and she said once you're aware of them make sure you feel them each day. But patterns from. 28 weeks.

He's a Beagle Runner. He's currently all snuggled up to my face it's adorable but rather uncomfortable.

I'm feeling much better since this morning but still taking it easy thanks Mor

Morwenna1 · 01/04/2016 14:37

OK, that's good then that you're both noticing movement at those times, and useful to know what your midwife said too Bunch I had read 28 weeks, so I guess I'll have to see if LO gets into a routine by then!

Defo take it easy, and don't get up too quick!

Runner05 · 01/04/2016 15:11

Oh god I'm so tired. I'm actually struggling to just sit at my desk without falling sideways off my seat. I've got an hour left which is a stupidly short amount of time but I just don't know how I'm going to get through it. Sad

Aaaahhh I cried at the scan and it was just amazing and I'm so happy. Bean was a cheeky little bugger and wouldn't get in position for ages but was waving and kicking a lot. Also has very long legs Grin I've just announced it to everyone I know, nuchal measurements were 1.8 and sonographer said everything looks perfect to her. I couldn't wait any longer to announce, I'm so happy. GrinGrin

Glad all is looking good in there Indi! In the second pic, it looks like your LO is very relaxed sitting down in your womb! Grin

I'm extremely tired at the moment Runner! I feel your pain. Shattered! I think it's because I've been getting leg cramps at night, and I'm quite restless.

Jamjar12 · 01/04/2016 17:03

Amazing photos!!!! You've just made me burst into a fresh set of crazypregnantwoman hormonal tears! So happy for you guys!

Co5mo · 01/04/2016 17:06

Wow, what a catch up! After seeing all these fab scan pics I'm getting nervous and excited for Monday.

Now Ovia is telling me I have an apricot or a toy soldier. I wish I had an apricot in the house to compare to a toy soldier but I'm pretty certain they are fairly different Grin

Danni89 · 01/04/2016 17:18

Lovely pics girls!

shelbTa · 01/04/2016 17:32

Great scans girls, pleased everything went so well!

Aww nice dog bunch! How you feeling?

Insatiable appetite today.

X

BunchOfBobs · 01/04/2016 17:41

Aww Indi little one looks great, so pleased for you.
I'm feeling much better as the day goes on. Managed to go food shopping with DH and bought some amazing snacks. Insatiable hunger here too Shelb

Morwenna1 · 01/04/2016 17:43

I can recommend yoghurt covered raisins. My new favourite snack! (and I have been eating hot cross buns as well)

shelbTa · 01/04/2016 17:54

Bunch what you snacking on??? I'm trying to reign it in but SO hard l.

LisaTheGreek · 01/04/2016 17:55

Great scan pics Indi! Glad everything went well! x

LaraG13 · 01/04/2016 18:19

Hooray for the lovely scans indi and miley! Hope yours went well too irregular.

I'm starving too. Snacking on chicken and dry granola all day. Not together!

Your dog is adorable bunch. I think mine will be oblivious until there's a new human in the house - she's not the most perceptive.

Glad you called the Dr starky. Pregnancy is a nightmare for us anxious types. Hope all those suffering with anxiety in these early stages are managing to keep it in check. personally I found this resource which gives you miscarriage stats broken down by day for the first few weeks to be reassuring, because really your chances of having a successful pregnancy are very high and get higher every day:

(Link gives average miscarriage stats. Please don't read this if it'll make you more anxious or you'd rather not think about it) spacefem.com/pregnant/mc.php?m=08&d=10&y=12

Runner05 · 01/04/2016 18:36

Indi so happy all was ok. That's a lovely scan, enjoy showing it off Wink

Lara I think I looked at a similar sight for the first few weeks and also found it quite comforting.

So hungry here too. I'm trying to snack on breakfast bars and fruit but I seem to eat an equal amount of cake and chocolate Blush I had to get OH to pull into a McDs drive through on the way home at 9:30 last night Blush I'm a bad, bad pregnant lady.

For you ladies feeling your babies, does it sometimes tickle? A few times when I've had swishing rather than poking it's been really tickly for me Confused

OP posts:
BunchOfBobs · 01/04/2016 18:44

It would be easier to say what I'm not snacking on Shelb. I'm trying to be good but it's hard not to give in. I generally have fruit and yoghurt twice a day, some baked snack something like rice cakes or oddities and ahem kit kats. Also strawberry milkshake I am loving. Just stumbled across mango and coconut pudding jelly things in the world food section and I ADORE mango so was very excited, and turned into a child and bought every variety of petit filous. Blush

Runner I haven't noticed a tickling but I do giggle a lot with it. We're currently listening to a 90's playlist whilst cooking and I'm singing away, I've had a few rather violent prods. He either loves it or hates it Grin

IrregularCommentary · 01/04/2016 18:53

Finally back home after doing the rounds with some family this afternoon! Scan looked great, was amazing to see - wriggly little thing though! Got moved forward 4 days as well so now on 13+1 with an edd of 6th Oct.

leoniethelioness · 01/04/2016 19:11

Congratulations, girls! What amazing photos. I'm delighted that all is well.

I told my supervising partner about Pepper before Easter and he asked me today if he could tell another one of the partners. I said yes but he's not said anything to me yet so I don't know if he knows! I did ask my partner to be discreet so maybe that's it. I was planning on telling my department at 16 weeks but I think I'll have to bring it forward to 15 weeks, which is next week, now.

I hate being the centre of attention and while I've been at my firm since August 2013, I've only been in my current role 7 months so I feel like it's quite early to be pregnant. I am consoling myself with the fact a colleague in another team only came back off mat leave in October and is pregnant again - and further along than me - and everything seems fine. I'm sure it'll be fine for me too. I'm just a) nervous about what people will think and my career and b) worried how I'll cope if I announce my pregnancy and something happens to Pepper. 😣

Has anyone else become addicted to sugar and sweet things? I can't get enough of them. Should I be worried about developing gestational diabetes?

Runner05 · 01/04/2016 19:20

Aww Irregular so glad you had a good scan too... From those photos it looks like he's giving you a good kick lol

Leonie I'm sure work will be fine. Most people have had really positive reactions.
I was addicted to sweet things for a while. Now I'm finding that I want sweet things but they don't sit well anymore. Mostly now I want meat! Except lamb, had that yesterday and it was gross Confused
