There's so much conflicting advice about foods in pregnancy that I just stick with what the NHS say about it.

bluebell I'm seriously impressed with your crocheting skills!

I'm suffering from the dry skin problem too and it's causing the eczema on my back to flare up. I love the fact that I'm pregnant and I've been blessed with this little miracle an' all but there are a LOT of things I won't miss about being preggers.

  1. Dry skin
  2. insomnia
  3. spending more on pantyliners than ever did when I was having periods
    • seriously maybe TMI but swampy knickers anyone?!
  4. making an involuntary groaning noise every time I have to get up from the sofa
  5. having to give up all my favourite foods
  6. constantly blocked nose as soon.
as soon as it gets to 6pm

There are loads more but I'll stop moaning now and go back to thanking God for my little miracle Grin

What's everyone got planned for the long weekend?

Dry itchy skin here too. E45 helps a bit.

So glad its the weekend and got 4 whole days off. Getting pregnancy rage especially with people giving me their opinions on finding out the sex. One particularly snooty customer really got up my nose about it this week Angry

Plan this weekend is hopefully going to an Easter egg hunt and day out at the place where we got married. Did it last year and it was great. Doing our own egg hunt at home on Sunday. Hoping dh gets me an egg otherwise my weekend will be ruined! Been so hungry this week... for chocolate mostlyBlush my plan is to eat his if he's forgotten...

tams13 · 24/03/2016 21:17

Most shop bought sandwiches should be fine. The mayo in them is usually made with pasteurised eggs because they keep longer (worth double checking though). On the food note, went looking at cotbeds with dh tonight and decided to go for food in town too. Went to a pie place - lots of pies with alcohol/soft cheese but found a nice sounding one without. Waitress then brought a sauce with the pie (didn't realise it came with one) and when I asked what it was she said it was chicken and sherry. Is the massive belly not obvious enough?!? I didn't mind because it was just in a jug on the side but made me wonder why they didn't say when we ordered. Not everyone would want alcohol in their sauce, pregnant or not.

Sorry, rant over.

Rome sounds like it was amazing! Hope everyone who's away over Easter has an amazing time and hope shifts go quick for those of you working. Don't miss the shift work where everyone else enjoyed themselves on a bank holiday and I was sat in work.

YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut · 24/03/2016 22:09

I've got really dry itchy skin too. Driving me mad! I'm covered in scratches.

Bluebell your blanket segments are beautiful!

We've ordered some baby furniture from IKEA today - getting it delivered in a fortnight.

Bluebell20 · 25/03/2016 07:52

Thanks for your comments on the blanket guys! I am more of a knitter than a crocheter really - this will be the second thing I've crocheted ever - and I found the pattern quite tough at first! However, after a morning of naughty work-avoidance yesterday I have a little stack of hexagons and I've memorised the pattern, so now I can crochet the hexagons anywhere without needing to turn on my laptop! Good for train commuting...

mini I am well envious of the Easter egg hunts!

allthegood your list has made me chuckle! I won't miss not being able to wear the majority of my wardrobe, not being able to drink champagne (I have no problem not drinking anything else, but was well jell when the champers came out at Christmas), and I won't miss having DH poke my belly button in fascination at how weird it now is.

I will miss having baby move inside me though, I think. It is such a lovely, comforting, exciting thing!

Scase I am having some very vivid dreams. Last night I dreamed I had got a job as a GP one afternoon a week, and I was surprised they had allowed me to have it as I 'only' had a medical degree and hadn't done GP training. I woke up still feeling convinced I'd done a medical degree. Took me about ten seconds to remember that actually my undergrad was English Lit :) Also had the worst nightmare I've ever had the other day, in which DH called me from his mobile sounding as if he'd been beaten up, just saying 'oh God, oh God, I'm so sorry' over and over. Woke up crying from that one!

I am starting to feel a bit panicked about baby stuff. So far we have an enormous cot that will be no good to begin with, and a yellow stripy body suit that I saw and had to buy. That is it. Eek.

FifiRebel · 25/03/2016 08:23

Allthegoodnames I hear you especially on 3 and 6!!! Also TMI but does anyone have any wonder cures for thrush?! I seem to be getting it all the time. So fed up!

I had an appointment with the consultant yesterday and I'll be having consultant led care for the rest of pregnancy / giving birth in the labour ward rather than midwife led unit. For those of you with DCs already, what have been your experiences of consultant led care? I feel a bit dejected by it. The MLU in my hospital looks so lovely and I feel gutted that I can't give birth there.

The consultant also wrote on my notes that an epidural should be considered to reduce stress? This took me by surprise - I hadn't intended on having an epidural. I have anxiety / stress issues but these aren't related to the birth (which I'm putting to the back of my mind haha). Am I likely to get pressure to have an epidural?

Bluebell, don't discount your cot yet. DD never got on with her Moses basket so went into her cot from a few weeks old. I put her in sideways rather than length ways. I had the changing mat and nappies/wipes etc one end and DD the other end. Made things nice and easy for middle of the night nappy changes and was at the right height not to strain my back and I didn't need a separate changing table.

Hi

I'm pretty new to mumsnet and just come across this post I'm currently 24+5 weeks and due 10th July with my first so would love to be apart of this to share the experience Thanks

julfin · 25/03/2016 15:18

Welcome Mar! Nice to have you join us.

What a glorious sunny day! I'm feeling relaxed and full of the joys of Spring. Went to a yoga class this morning and "embraced my sacred space" etc, and have been chilling in the sun this afternoon. Exactly what I needed, to unwind after the last few weeks at work. And we're going on holiday next Friday for two whole blissful weeks - can't wait!

Hope everyone's got nice Easter plans. And hope the poorly ones are feeling better or at least able to enjoy the lovely weatherSmile

tams13 · 25/03/2016 15:19

Welcome mar.

bluebell the crochet looks amazing! Would love to see the finished blanket if you're willing to share. I'm a bit jealous of people who are able to design and make their own things. I've been trying to knit an adult scarf since October and still haven't finished!

beckslovestimmy · 25/03/2016 16:56

Welcome mar. Do you know if your team blue or pink? We're staying team yellow. DC 2 for us.

Mar19901 · 25/03/2016 17:31

Ah thank u all for ur kind welcome x

We are staying team yellow for now even though I was desperate to find out oh wasn't having any of it Smile

BelOfTheBall79 · 25/03/2016 20:41

Hope you've all had sunny days! It was my and DH's first date anniversary today so we had a lovely lunch and that sat drinking in the sun (well he did).

Bought some wall stickers for our jungle themed nursery today. They're being shipped from the US though so hope they turn up at some point!

Bluebell I know what you mean about feeling the baby inside you. It's magic! I will enjoy my old wardrobe too...Although might keep the maternity jeans going, they're amazing...

Mar19901 · 25/03/2016 21:45

Happy 1st anniversary ThanksThanks it was my birthday today but oh had to work so we are going out for the day tomorrow just hope the weather is as nice as today x

Vikkijayne2507 · 26/03/2016 00:43

Had my big boys 2nd birthday yesterday and baby was quiet all day as I wandered round a zoo. But as soon as I got home he's been kicking and moving loads. Think I had been rocking him to sleep. Great another baby who won't sleep without movement took 18 odd months to get my ds to sleep sort of through the night here we go again.

25 weeks today (as its past midnight)

Slow movement day for me too yesterday. Very quiet baby at the moment! Trying to stay cool Hmm

Mar happy birthday for yesterday.

24 weeks tomorrow for me indian. Feels likes another milestone, still can't believe this is happening! Don't think I will until he is safe in my arms Smile

Thom80 · 26/03/2016 09:43

Vikki - happy second birthday for yesterday.
I am having a slow movement morning. Usually the baby is very active in the mornings. I am trying not to worry, I am also in wales for the bank holiday weekend. I don't think there any people living in Wales on the tread, but if there are, do you know the details of the local maternity assessment unit? I am staying to panic myself.

FifiRebel · 26/03/2016 09:51

Thom I live in Wales. Which part are you visiting?

YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut · 26/03/2016 10:09

Strangely I find movement often seems slower at weekends. Maybe I am just more aware sitting at my desk than pottering about the house? I have a panic every single Saturday morning. Baby is moving fine now, but I was fretting about it earlier!

SpeakNoWords · 26/03/2016 10:11

Thom, I'm in Wales too at the moment visiting family who would know where to go if I asked.

Have you tried drinking something like fruit juice and having something sugary to eat, and then sitting/lying down for a bit? That often gets them moving around.

mascaraisamust · 26/03/2016 10:51

Strange how the babies can go so quiet, I think he must have been hiding for me. Felt some light kicks this morning. I agree with speaknowords, a glass of fresh orange juice usually gets him going. I'm sure baby will just be hiding for you too.x

mascaraisamust · 26/03/2016 10:52

Oh and my movements have gone more to evenings than mornings, remember it's a bit early for patterns yet x
