Meant to say earlier nehagarg that I hope the doctor signs you off for a water birth if that's what you want. I just wanted to reassure you though that if it doesn't happen the labour ward really isn't that bad. My first birth was as medicalised as you can get short of a CS. I was labour ward ( but in my case at least, so I assume this is normal) the term 'ward' is misleading. I was in a room just me, DH and midwife no other beds for labour. I had a drip in each hand, gas and air, pethidine and still managed to be upright (kind of hanging over the raised back of the bed) rather than flat on my back. Midwife was fab and it felt safe and calm (as calm as pushing another person out of you gets anyway) even when I was taken through to theatre with a whole team of people for a forceps delivery it was fine.

MollieRos · 11/03/2016 20:42

nehagarg it must be the sound waves or something- as you say it's always an instant reaction whenever it goes on. Poor baby!

strawberry I'm very glad for my boots as I can just shove my feet in. I'm hoping they'll take me through till I can just wear slip on pumps. Even putting socks on is becoming a bit of a chore!

mrsmugoo · 11/03/2016 20:59

With regards to "labour ward" I'll be delivering in the labour ward too as I'm a VBAC. I've been in the delivery rooms before from when I had a hospital tour and also when I went in for an ECV. At my hospital they are happy for you to push the bed to one side and bring in cushions/beanbags etc from the MLU rooms, dim the lights etc... No pools unfortunately but other than that - a room's a room and I'm ok with it.

I was really hung up on it first time around and then I needed an ELCS which I was initially gutted about but as soon as I had my baby safely in my arms I couldn't have cared less how he arrived.

nehagarg · 12/03/2016 08:57

Thanks everyone. Feel a but better about the whole labour thing now.

Out of interest, how is everyone getting on with moisturising their legs? I am almost 29 weeks and cant reach down comfortably anymore. Blush

Anyone else feeling depressed? Over the last week or so I've felt so low, keep crying. No trigger, just feel really really down.

chillipopcorn1 · 12/03/2016 12:38

Nehagarg I need to do all sorts of funny twists and turns to moisturise now! That's when I can be bothered just wanted to pop in and ask - anyone else having nosebleeds/bleeding gums? I've had both this weekend and got chunks of hair falling out every morning as well. Feel like I'm falling apart! I thought hair supposed to get thicker in pregnancy? Mines very thick anyway and doesn't look any thinner but I am honestly moulting like anything....anyone else?

chillipopcorn1 · 12/03/2016 12:38

Emma I have felt weirdly emotional about things and definitely days of feeling really flat. It's usually when I'm really tired - are you exhausted? X

nehagarg · 12/03/2016 13:02

Chilli I have had nosebleeds since I got pregnant. Usually only when I blow my nose. Havent had a proper bleed. Bleeding gums have started more recently too.

MollieRos · 12/03/2016 13:23

I have nosebleeds (only a tiny bit) when I blow my nose. I haven't noticed my hair getting any thicker, or falling out, it's just got really greasy. Pregnancy is so random.

nehagarg moisturising?! There's no flipping way I'm moisturising my legs! I haven't even shaved them for months, I'm treating it like a bit of a science experiment. Some of the hair on there is about an inch long now! (I'm not even joking) Grin. I'll have to get the hedge trimmers out once summer comes and I have to get my legs out. And as for my bikini line, I haven't seen that in a few weeks now, goodness only knows what's going on down there.

Wow, reading the above, I am such a catch right now Grin

chillipopcorn1 · 12/03/2016 13:35

Phew! Feel a bit reassured now. Thank you! Mollie loving your attitude - I'm exactly the same re:bikini line. Our doctor has said sex is off the agenda and if I can't even see it and no one else is looking then there's no way I'm going through a bikini wax! Sadly not so much with legs as I'm in the tropics so can't wear my beloved 100 deniers Envy

nehagarg · 12/03/2016 13:43

Grin Mollie and Chilli ... Havent seen mine in weeks too. Did try to bend this way and that to try and catch a glimpse of what's going on down there. Didnt accomplish anything except making DH chuckle.

mrsmugoo · 12/03/2016 14:56

I actually went for a wax yesterday - I can't really see either but I can't bear the feeling!

strawberrypenguin · 12/03/2016 15:52

I'm another one who has tiny nosebleeds every time I blow my nose. Don't remember it happening last time but it is one those pregnancy 'things'
I did manage to shave my legs the other day (somehow!) not sure why I bothered as I always wear trousers! No idea what's happening on my bikini line but is probably not pretty!
Cut my toe nails this morning too which required some interesting positions - next time they need doing I think i'll have to get DH to do it!

mrsmugoo · 12/03/2016 15:55

I can still shave my legs but I've already outsourced toenails to DH!

iamdivergent · 12/03/2016 15:59

Yup tiny nosebleeds here too but again, only when blowing.

Haven't bothered moisturising anywhere bar the bump for ages, and even the bump only gets intermittent attention Grin legs are still being shaved when I cba and bikini line just gets a proper trim every so often - it's alot hairier down there atm though I must say - pregnancy hormones eh?!

MiraclesDoHappen82 · 12/03/2016 18:53

The last shave that I did bikini line etc, I put a mirror on top of the toilet lid in the bathroom and kind of stood over it a kimbo lol. And filled the sink with water. Worked quite well but not sure how often I'll bother, maybe just now and again to make sure it doesn't get out of control down there lol

laughingGnomette · 12/03/2016 18:56

Nosebleeds here too!

Tiring day here, took DS swimming at lunchtime and he decided that it'd be fun to try and swallow as much pool water as possible.... unsurprisingly for the rest of the day he's had the runs and there have been a few occasions where he hasn't made it to the toilet in time SadAngry. Eww!

earlgreydrinker · 12/03/2016 20:23

Bleeding gums but no nosebleeds. Haven't shaved my legs in ages, don't think I will bother till necessary. Luckily all body hair seems to have reduced anyway. Highly recommend doing any downstairs trimming before you really can't manage anymore! Having to moisturise loads due dry skin.
Hair all fine now but after the baby is born don't be surprised if LOADS falls out!

iamdivergent · 12/03/2016 20:45

Pregnancy is the only time I have thick hair - normally it's very thin.

Shaved legs and had a landscape after my bath - had to use a mirror though 😂

redtammy · 12/03/2016 20:54

You can get apps for kegels - mine reminds me at 7am and 5pm so I have no excuses, and a series of increasingly difficult exercises. Joy.

GenevaJoey · 12/03/2016 23:31

I'm had quite a few nosebleeds, esp fun after being sick or coughing. Feel pretty gross at times!

Trying to maintain leg and bikini line because I swim afew times a week. Am 29 weeks and not an issue so far, but not sure how long that will last.

bikingintherain · 13/03/2016 04:38

I just realised I'm going to need to get a crib. Darn. I thought we had the big stuff sorted from previous DC. But I realised today that the Moses basket we have for the baby will only really last for a few months max.

Normally I would go straight to a cot, but DS is in it and although is very ready to be in a bed, the kids bedroom is not big enough to have a normal bed and a toddler bed in. I even looked at bunk beds a few months ago to see if DS and DD could use that but honestly their room is just too small. (There's a reason we're trying to move!)

I think I thought we would have moved by the time they all needed to go up a bed size but honestly I think it's looking unlikely. So now I'm joining you in researching cribs! Al the things I've seen mentioned here before are ringing a lot if bells as I look online!

mrsmugoo · 13/03/2016 07:50

Biking - we bought a micro cot from kiddicare it was cheap as chips and would last to probably about 8/9 months to a push. It fits in the corner of our room as a cot bed won't fit in here - but DS is using the cot bed as a bed right now.
I probably going to move him to sleep in the double bed in his room pretty soon now I know he doesn't get out or come out of his room. I'm considering swapping a piece of furniture from our room to his room so we can have cotbed in here. That way I can do co-sleep/Moses from day 1 and into proper cot when ready and then switch that cot into the kids sharing room as soon as baby girl can sleep through and not wake big brother up. DS was doing it by 8 months - fingers crossed!!! I'm envisaging bunk beds too as I can't see us moving for 2-3 years realistically.

jbiscuits · 13/03/2016 08:16

Glad to hear that I'm not the only one having nose bleeds. I'm currently in bed with a cold, and keep expecting one to start every time I blow my nose. DH is taking DS to church this morning on his own, so I'll have the morning to myself, but I think all I'll do is try to have a nap Grin

iamdivergent · 13/03/2016 08:39

We have shorty bunk beds from Ikea. A good space saving solution. We were given a crib last time but dd2 hated it and wouldn't sleep in it, glad I didn't pay for one that's for sure.
