Well, had the scan yesterday and got some very cute photos, which I am attaching - one of his little foot, which is apparently 3cm long already! And he is definitely a boy!
His measurements are all spot on, and mostly his organs look good, but they were a bit concerned about his bowel which looked 'a bit bright' around the edges on the screen, so I am being referred to a consultant at the FMU.
They asked if I'd had any bleeding, as apparently the baby can ingest blood in the amniotic fluid which can make the bowel look bright, but I've not had any bleeding all pregnancy as far as I know (tho DH did point out that all my knickers are black - but I have checked every time I've wiped since October.) They said it was borderline whether or not it was actually a problem, but they would rather be over-cautious. However, they said lots of the doctors are on holiday next week because of half term, so god knows how long I will have to wait to be seen.
I was most discombobulated because they gave me 6 pictures for free when i asked for 4, which should have cost me a tenner. I got back to the car and was a bit upset that they'd been so nice - like, why are they not charging me? Why are they being so kind? But DH thinks they were running late - they had said they didn't want to write a receipt apparently.
So then I got home and made the fatal mistake of looking up echogenic bowel on Google, and cried for an hour. But I've woken up this morning feeling a lot brighter - it is probably nothing, and it's nice that we will get another look at our baby (I assume), and even if it is something, at least this way we will know.
