Hey ladies,

Been checking in but suffering pretty badly with a horrible cold that I think I would normally shake off! Migraines and bed for me for the past few days, I was going to drag my sorry self to work today until DH told me off and to remember I was pregnant!

Pinsey - a gorgeous picture and name for a beautiful baby. Thank you for sharing them with us. Your plans for her made me well up, I am very close to my gma and seems a lovely tribute to them both. Wishing you all the best for the future.

I had leg cramp all the time in my last pregnancy would wake in the middle of the night clutching my calf! Was mostly the third trimester so I'm waiting to see if it happens this time.

Our scan is next Tuesday feeling really impatient as a few people who are due after me locally have had theirs but it's nearly here and hoping this time baby will be more well behaved Grinmy work colleague was told to drink a coffee/ eat some sugar before her private scan when she went and baby was asleep so I may treat myself to a coffee before we go see if it wakes baby up!

Impressed with all the eBay bargains, I am now not able to wear most of my clothes and I have been given some maternity bits but they all seem a bit big! I also can't wait for Birkenstock and maxi dress weather, I wear a uniform for work and my work trousers (think Simon cowell) which are awful at the best of times are no longer wearable. Think I may head for some black maternity trousers as I dread to think what stores would pull out if I went and asked there ha ha

Nearly the weekend ladies! Can't believe it's March already!

allthegoodnamesalreadytaken · 03/03/2016 08:54

cheery that sounds awesome I love romantic hubby stories Smile. DH came home brandishing a giant U shaped pregnancy pillow last night because he knew all about my back pain woes. It made me ridiculously happy and seems to have worked as the pain is a lot better today. He 's crap at housework and has to be reminded to do absolutely everything but once in a while he comes up trumps Grin

Scase1firsttimemum · 03/03/2016 09:46

Not hurting when I do the fist thingy.. It seems to be alright now, can feel baby moving around like crazy still he must have been lying right down there!! Thank you ladies, much appreciated

Ellizardo · 03/03/2016 09:57

Congrats on scans ladies - it's the backbone 'zipper' that always fascinates me..so clear on the scans!

Mrsrolly - it'll be here before you know it (both the scan and the Birkenstocks weather! can't wait to get my feet out of socks..bending over to tie up shoes/boots is getting increasingly difficult).

allthegood - welcome to the wonderful world of the donut! those pillows are amaazing and it will be your best friend for the next few months.

Sounds like some OHs are showing good pre-emptive Mother's Day lovin'. This will be my first as a mother myself (last year Ted was born on 21 March..but tbh I think being pregnant counts). Suddenly it feels like Mother's Day should be celebrated very generously! I am not getting my hopes up though. My OH bought me a staple-less stapler for Christmas this year...

Ellizardo · 03/03/2016 09:58

youandme - been thinking of you a lot and hope you're bearing up. x

Ellizardo · 03/03/2016 10:00

PS re swimming costumes - M&S do good 'long torso' swimsuits which I found work well with a) being tall and b) being increasingly wide...

Scase1firsttimemum · 03/03/2016 10:03

Lovely scan photos also ladies very clearSmile

Bluebell20 · 03/03/2016 10:40

Hello girls, just wanted to say that I just received a phone call from the FMU and all my husband's and my blood tests (for CMV and for genetic screening for cystic fibrosis) have come back clear. I am so, so relieved.

I also now know that I am actually part of the 20% of the population who has never had CMV, so I need to be a bit careful about washing my hands regularly during the days where I am a Year 1 class teacher!

Feeling very lucky and grateful today.

Birdandbee I've just tried your your suggested test to see if it might the beginnings of SPD causing my pain - as I suspected it seems like it is! What a joy.

I mentioned the pain to both the consultant and the midwife when I saw them a couple of weeks ago and they were supremely unconcerned. The consultant said "that doesn't sound like SPD - it's just pregnancy". I'm worried about how much worse it might get as it is quite painful now and I still have 17 weeks left to go!

Thom80 · 03/03/2016 12:22

Bluebell - I am really pleased to hear that everything is ok. I have the full cardiac scan of the babies heart in just under three weeks because They are worried about defects. It is a really unsettling time. I hope my news will be as good as yours.
Ellizardo - it made me laugh out loud the idea of been giving a stapleless stapler. Romance is not dead!!

allthegoodnamesalreadytaken · 03/03/2016 12:29

Eli that's a very "practical" gift Hmm Bless him he probably heard you mention that you wanted one and took that to mean that he should gift you one? I've had a few of those in my time - Currently have an unopened bread maker and an unopened ice cream maker in the cupboard taking up valuable space all because I once mentioned in passing that I may try out bread making Blush never happened!

scase I had the weird baseball cap thing on my Ovia this week as well so I copied you and changed it to the cute weasel Smile

bird I think you've got us all trying out the fist between the knees thing now - lady on the train looked at me a bit weird when I did it Grin

Bluebell20 · 03/03/2016 13:25

Thom I hope your scan goes well and that baby's heart is okay. It is so difficult - but also so amazing that they can see these things early now rather than wait for them to cause a problem later on.

allthegood I am terribly envious of the ice cream maker! DH and I go through phases of making all our own bread, and I do quite like doing it by hand, but I also wonder if I would be more consistent if I had a bread maker!

Elliz I will be knock-down-able with a feather if DH remembers Mothers' Day next year!

Scase1firsttimemum · 03/03/2016 14:54

Allthegood- haha I thought a Baseball hat was just too boring!! I prefer the cute furry weasel rather than the axolotl I had last week! The only thing is I start getting impatient having to wait a week to find out what the next animal is!!

Ellizardo · 03/03/2016 15:24

bluebell - lovely news on the results feedback. it's such a relief isn't it..especially as things like CF and spina bifida etc are pretty common.

Yes allthegood, that's exactly what happened re: the stapler. I mentioned in November I think about how annoying it is to unpick staples and voila, there's my Christmas present sorted bless him. I must remember not to wonder out loud about gadgets (unless they're the latest ipad mini of course, hee hee). He also bought me the world's strongest magnets for the fridge. (I am not joking). What I would give for a bread and an ice cream maker!!

Hi ladies

Glad to hear all the positive news about scans etc. I have my 20 week scan tomorrow and I'm so nervous.
I have been feeling some more flutters but I swear my bump has gotten smaller?!?

I'm feeling positive as I had my first perinatal appointment this afternoon. Has anyone else had experience with this service? It seems to really vary across the country from what I've read on here.

allthegoodnamesalreadytaken · 03/03/2016 16:00

bluebell you and my DH would get on well! I think it might end up being one of those contraptions I drag from the cupboard in a few years time to "entertain" DD.

carla I haven't had direct experience of the perinatal health service but a friend of mine who is currently pregnant has due to suffering PTSD. She is based in Dulwich and has reported a positive experience with them so far. Good luck with your scan tomorrow I hope all goes well.

KayTee87 · 03/03/2016 16:47

Anomaly scan went well, managed to get all the measurements after 45 minutes and me jumping up and down. Actually in a bit of pain from the scan but I don't mind because she was lovely. And. ... team blue!

ScandinavianMom · 03/03/2016 16:50

Finally I had my week 20 scan today and our little girl looks perfect. I am very relieved and totally in love with her already Smile

Congratulations on all the scans.
Elli - your post made me laugh out loud! I have an imagine of you unwrapping industrial strength magnets at Christmas!

Carla42 · 03/03/2016 17:20

Congratulations on the scans Smile

Carla42 · 03/03/2016 18:12

For everyone that's had their 20 week scans already - did you go in with a full bladder? I'm in two minds whether to bother as I always get told to empty mine (even when it doesn't seem very full!!)

SpeakNoWords · 03/03/2016 18:19

The instructions for my 20 wk scan said a full bladder wasn't necessary. I don't know if it's the same everywhere?

Sorry, I've name changed! (CultureSucks here..)

I had a small bottle of water right before my appt. I didn't feel the urge to pee at all.
