Symptom wise I'm pretty much the same as you all, I was recommended 'forehead' for the headaches if I don't like taking paracetamol all the time.

Wanting to feel little flutters but I just can't seem to catch any! Woke up last night between 3-4 and couldn't get back off to sleep and I thought I could feel something but it might have just been me half alsleep imagining things! I'm sure it will come when I least expect it. The private scan said I have an anterior placenta, is that where it's harder to feel movement? Meant to see the midwife again on Tuesday so my get another listen in x

Ellizardo · 10/02/2016 07:54

Youandme - thinking of you. What a horrendous limbo time. I hope you're bearing up too.

Pulpi - I wondered where you'd been! I was just thinking 'where's Pulpi's Canuckian humour and can we have some more please?!' And then you came out talking about lumberjacks, awesome!

Think keeping sex/names to yourself is a very good idea. We tentatively mentioned a shortlisted girl's name and my mother nearly fell over exclaiming 'oh my god no, i went to school with an X and she was awful' (this is a 50 year old memory rearing its head by the way).

Had a horrible shock yesterday at Ted's bedtime when he fell off the bed chasing a rubber duck. Luckily he fell on a nice thick rug by my DH's bedside but he (and I) had a big old scare. He's fine now but boy did I keep him close for the rest of his bedtime. No bruises this morning and he's his usual smiley self. Phew.

Ellizardo · 10/02/2016 07:54

And Mascara - no flutters here either!

Anna - I can join the club. I have spots on my face, back & chest. I didn't get any as a teenager, so making up for it now!
You&me - i am so sorry to hear about your dad. My dad had a heart attack which led to a stroke a year. Thinking of you at this very difficult time.

Scase1firsttimemum · 10/02/2016 09:20

Cookies- I do have holiday left, but I was planning to take it just before maternity leave so I got a bit longer off, paid as well Sad I have 4 day weekend coming up though which is great news to me! Haha :)

gnat99 · 10/02/2016 10:47

Gosh those pancakes! I ate 2 savoury and 3 sweet... just as well the sweet ones were made in the smaller pan Blush. Julfin, I also had maple syrup on mine, so Pulpi you should be happy Wink. My sister lives in Maine and gave us a ginormous bottle of it in the summer. Totally distracted by wedding stuff, and only remembered it before Christmas. Woohoo!

Cookies hope you have a better day today.

I am so impatient to feel flutters, absolutely nothing so far. Maybe midwife right about anterior placenta. Just as well we have scan next week to alleviate worries. I have been feeling fairly overwhelmed by everything at times so definitely need a lift. Although it does help that I have the beginnings of a bump now Smile

19 weeks today

ScandinavianMom · 10/02/2016 11:19

Hello ladies,
I am new to MumsNet and I am pretty new to London as I've recently moved here from Scandinavia.
I'm due with a little girl mid July and I'm looking forward to getting to know you!
X

foobio · 10/02/2016 11:31

Hi ScandinavianMom! Is this your first baby? Hope you are finding London ok, probably quite a shock compared to Scandinavia!
I second "4head" for headaches, particularly for tension headaches which I get a lot with my squiffy eyesight and too many hours in the office!
I've come down with a horrible cough, and started getting indigestion at night, feeling quite sorry for myself! I'd anyone else is suffering, I found sleeping slightly propped up on a pillow helped a bit.
Hope babies cooperate for all those with scans coming up, with open legs or closed legs depending on whether you want to find out!

ScandinavianMom · 10/02/2016 12:23

Hi Foobio,
Yes, this is my first baby so there are many "firsts" for me at the momentWink So far I've been positively surprised by NHS SmileThe hardest thing about having your first baby abroad is not having my own mum and close girlfriends nearby to share the experience with.
Like you, I also suffer from coughing - it has lasted for 6 weeks by now - it gets worse at night and in the mornings. I don't really know what to do about it. I am also in the spot club - I feel like a teenager again...

Indian I'm due 9th July and so is Cheery (unless it was changed at your scan?) welcome to the club!

Welcome to all other newbies too. Sorry I'm so bad at keeping up!

youandme really sorry to hear about your dad, everything crossed for a good recovery for him.

I think I'm feeling the odd movement but not really sure.certainly nothing regular. Don't know where my placenta is this time, was anterior last time and didn't feel anything till past 20 weeks.

20 week scan is two weeks today. Exciting! I will be finding out the sex and have no clue at the moment.

18+4.

Scase1firsttimemum · 10/02/2016 14:08

I felt a proper kick last night when searching for his heartbeat, dont think he liked the cold gel!! SmileThanks hes not so active during the day, but think thats because Im on my feet all day moving around he sleeps through it! Active at night though! Not looking forward to when he is bigger and using me as a punch bag! Im also feeling very lucky that I can feel him as he is my first!

GoingLoopyQuickly · 10/02/2016 16:21

I am starting to get wiggly feelings. But not expecting much more for a few weeks. Although "they" do say you feel things earlier with subsequent pgs. I had an anterior placenta the first time round so feelings were a little less prominant. I wonder if I will have the same again. It was low lying last time and moved just enough to let me have a natural homebirth.

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 10/02/2016 16:50

Youandme so sorry that things aren't good with your dad. I hope he makes a recovery soon.

Pulpi we are the same. We think we will probably find out the sex but we won't be telling other people we have found out.

Indians I had my hair cut really short a few months ago. I thought it would grow out super quick but no such luck. My hair always grows fast but it's super slow now. I'm due 8th July.

Anna I can join you in the spotty face club. I never get spots but have those horrible red under the skin ones.

Elizarado glad Ted is ok. My Teddy has fallen off the bed. Just lately he keeps falling over at the childminders/nursery. It's worse when you aren't there.

Valerie my scan is two weeks today also.

I'm still feeling a lot of movement. The headaches have hit again. I had pancakes last night and after taking a photo this morning I regret them. Everything is so fat even my face is huge Sad

mascaraisamust · 10/02/2016 17:40

Thanks all you've made me feel reassured about movements, guess I'll just have to be patient! Well a week today I'll be at the spa Wink, then going home to my parents for 3 nights, can't wait for home comfort food and being looked after. Don't get to see my parents that often so it'll be nice to share some excitement with them!

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 10/02/2016 17:51

Mascara honestly with my first it was so late before I felt movements. You don't start the whole count the kicks until 28 weeks so quite a way off yet. I'm only feeling so much movement because it's my fourth and my muscles won't be tight like all you first timers they will be lazy & soft as my body has done this before.

Scase1firsttimemum · 10/02/2016 18:01

So not only have I got stresses about work but just found out a really good friend of mine took his own life yesterday SadSad sorry to be so morbid, Im just in so much shock I really didnt expect and it and dont know what to do with myself :'(

Woodsy81 · 10/02/2016 18:03

20 week scan went great! She is just beautiful and was amazing watching her moving around and listening to sonographer explain everything and be able to see such detail. Had to go to the bathroom and then move around a little to get her to move her arm which was blocking a full view of the heart at first but everything was perfect. SmileSmile

I am so sorry scase.

Woodsy81 · 10/02/2016 18:09

Just saw your post Scase. So so sorry. Sadxx

pulpi · 10/02/2016 18:36

Beautician - glad we're not the only ones keeping quiet on the gender front.

So apparently I need to stretch before blowing my nose because I swear to god I strained something alongside the bump this morning.

Scase, this is really tough. I've lost both a friend (just before this Christmas) and a family member to suicide and it's a really hard event to get your head around. With both there was no warning and left us reeling. Expect to reel. Expect to feel angry and sad and about 1000 other emotions. Take extra care of yourself right now and allow yourself the space and time to grieve.

Bluebell20 · 10/02/2016 18:40

Really sorry to hear your news Scase, I hope you have got some good support around you. Flowers

Woodsy, what a beautiful scan picture. Congrats! My 20 week scan is tomorrow and I am actually really looking forward to it. I was half sick with nerves at the 12 week one.

I also have a few little spots on my bosomage - niiice. And the most strangely dry and cracked hands I have ever had - the palm of my left hand started cracking today! What is that all about?!

For those wondering about movement, I have an anterior placenta and I first felt movement at 18+6, but that seems quite early for an anterior placenta, so I think either I was very lucky or my placenta has maybe moved? I guess I will find out tomorrow at the scan!

20 + 1... More than halfway, ladies!

Scase1firsttimemum · 10/02/2016 19:33

I am so sorry to hear that Pulpi its horrible isnt it :( I am still in shock I literally cant believe it!! I dont know how work is going to be tomorrow, dread to think Sad

What a beautiful scan photo! So glad everything went well Smile your baby looks super cute, so clear Thanks
