Thanks for feedback. It does feel a bit precious wanting your child to not have a common name! But it's just practicalities I suppose. My sister had 5 Sarahs in her class at school, 3 of whom went on to become close friends of hers... I think two Matildas in a class is not a crime. I really love that name, it would be on my list but one of my close friends got there first!

Freya is another one we considered and then rejected. Partly also because it partly rhymes with DH's surname, which is not always a great thing.

This would be such a fun game if it wasn't so terribly serious when it comes down to it Wink

Really must do some work. So not in the mood.

Scase1firsttimemum · 24/02/2016 16:51

My OH has a beard and I hate it when he trims it or shaves!!! If he does it too short or gets rid of it completely, we dont talk for a while because I get annoyedGrinGrin

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 24/02/2016 18:24

Photographer sorry they moaned about your BMI. It's so rude & BMI means nothing anyway. I have a wobbly jelly tummy and if they would have said anything to me I probably would have punched them in the nose. Our bodies are doing an amazing thing here growing a human life. Don't let them get you down. Well done on a 4 stone loss that's quite an achievement.

Gnat stripes are everywhere. Loads of stripes outfits in Next today.

Primary bump isn't neat really just well hidden. I have the biggest hips ever.

Urgh already the shitty comments start. MIL just said to DH when told baby is a boy "aah I'm sorry, are you ok with that". WTF. No he's going to leave me. Or maybe we could send it back. It pisses me off. I would have loved a girl and yes it's never going to happen now but I'm certainly not devastated at having 4 boys. That was another comment from a friend "bet your devastated".

Names wise we really like Rafferty. I posted a thread on here asking if people thought it went with the others but a lot said no. I'm in two minds as we do like it.

20+5

GoingLoopyQuickly · 24/02/2016 18:32

Gnatt. If gaviscon doesn't help get thee a prescription for ranatadine. My mummy friends from my first pg swore by it.

AnnaT45 · 24/02/2016 18:41

Beautician your post makes me so sad and mad for you. Firstly tell MIL the sperm dictates the sex!
Secondly, devastated? Blimey, you've got a healthy baby on the way!
Thirdly, LOVE Rafferty!!! I think names are so personal you choose what you like as you'll be saying it forever! Sending you a hug

Thom80 · 24/02/2016 18:58

Beautician - I agree with Anna. As I keep telling my husband, he determined the sex not me! You have a lovely healthy little boywhich is super exciting. Your partner is a very lucky man. I have noticed people find it acceptable to say the most outrageous things when you are pregnant.

KayTee87 · 24/02/2016 19:12

Beautician people can be arseholes Angry
Should reply, 'no I'd be more devastated to be so rude like you'.
We're all lucky to be blessed with these pregnancies and for anyone to sat otherwise is a sad, nasty individual.

KayTee87 · 24/02/2016 19:12

julfin · 24/02/2016 19:43

Beautician - I love Rafferty!

Photographer - my cousin and one of my bridesmaids are both called Gillian. Lovely name. One is Gill for short, and the other is Gilly. Out of interest, is there any reason why you'd change the G to a J when abbreviating? (I like Js, and begin with a J myself, but I just think switching between Gillian and Jill might be confusing. And I think Gillian/Gill is more classically British than with a J which is more American.)

Bluebell20 · 24/02/2016 19:45

gnat so glad the scan went well! You should definitely have a go at the flapjack recipe for something sweet that doesn't make you feel very guilty!

bird lovely bump! I really MUST take some bump pics. I am terrible!

Elliz glad your scan went well too. I like Rose Helene!

Beautician congratulations on joining team blue, for the fourth time! I like Rafferty! Great bump, and I hope job things start looking up for you. On the wind front, I have a lovely story to share. Waiting for DH to pick me up at the train station last night, and he got caught in rush hour traffic. It was very, very cold, and there are no benches in the car park, so I kind of squatted down against a building and pulled out a book to read. Not a great position as it turned out, as several minutes later I did the most ENORMOUS loud fart that I wasn't even expecting to come out! I was mortified! I was too scared to look around to check if anyone was near enough to hear...

And talking of feeling unattractive, DH has kindly likened my new, teeny-tiny belly button to a cat's bum hole. Thanks, DH.

Also, I'm really sorry people are making such thoughtless comments about you having a boy. They are thoroughly insensitive and I am really cross for you.

Cheery I'm sorry that you have such a similar story to me... My mum was 45 when she died, and also was first diagnosed at 42. It is really hard not to be paranoid. Particularly as my mum went obsessively health-conscious after her diagnosis, and I worry that I'm not doing all the supposedly cancer-preventing things that she wanted me to do! But I am generally living much more healthily than she was for most of her life, so I try not to dwell too much. And you're right, a lot of it does just seem to be down to luck! Anyway, congratulations on your scan and welcome to team blue!

Foobio glad your scan went well, and thanks for the info about the palpitations. My GP said if it got worse he would check for over-active thyroid, but he thought it was really unlikely.

photographer and Lucy congrats on team pink!

Indians what a sweet name!

Scase sorry that your mum is being a bit flakey. Just remember it's you and OH and baby who matter most now. I also love Jay as a nickname!

Cookies now I want a Creme Egg!

I don't really have much to report. Lots of work going on - I'm so busy, I had to turn down another offer of supply at the school I teach at. It's nice to be busy, especially as I was really scared when I started freelancing that I'd get no work - but I wouldn't mind a day off for catching up on other things!

I've also finally started crocheting a blanket for the baby, which feels really positive and lovely. However, I'm not happy with the size the hexagons are coming out, so I am going to have to restart with a smaller hook! Gah!

julfin · 24/02/2016 19:50

Ps I like all the other names too! We are obviously a cohort with GREAT TASTE!

julfin · 24/02/2016 19:55

Ha ha Bluebell I've had similar incidents to yours at the train station! I normally like to follow it up with a loud cough (AS IF that's fooling anyone...)

mascaraisamust · 24/02/2016 20:38

Woah, finding it hard to keep up again! Lovely scan pic beautician, and congrats on the healthy boy! Nothing to really report here, had a few odd flutters here and there...I think.

My bump is huge Blush it's really come out this week, getting lots of congratulations and gasps when I tell people I'm 5 months gone!

birdandbee · 24/02/2016 20:56

Baby names
My names shortlist:

Florence
Beatrice
Margot (Maggie for short)
Willow
Millicent
Harriet
Olive
Jemima
Penelope
Vivienne
Violet
Anna

Middle name will be Honor

mascaraisamust · 24/02/2016 21:04

Olive, Willow, Harriett were on our girls shortlist, now it's a boy obviously that has been scrapped! But those are my favea from above. I like Fern too.

allthegoodnamesalreadytaken · 24/02/2016 21:15

So much going on, hard to keep up. beautician don't let idiotic comments get to you. scase that was a bit selfish of your mum especially as it's your first baby she really ought to be a lot more supportive. Hopefully things improve as the pregnancy goes on.

Love the name Hallie and also like Rose Helene. Rafferty is also a cool name I think that's the name of Jude Law's son.

bird I'm biased towards Florence as we've chosen it as the middle name of our little one (a way of honouring my great grandmother who was a huge part of my life but is no longer with us)

As for names we're currently trying to decide between two Isabella (Ella for short) and Olivia. Both hugely popular names at the moment and likely to be lots in the playground but that doesn't bother me at all. Our surname is short (one syllable) and so really wanted a first name with 3 syllables and these are the only ones we like.

beckslovestimmy · 24/02/2016 21:15

I love Margo bird, ive only come across one and she's very cute, about 18 months I think. For a girl I like Erin, Anya and Rosie. Not really sure on anything for a boy yet! We never agreed on a boys name before DD was born but had a girls name from very early on.

ValerieTheHorse · 24/02/2016 21:23

Not caught up yet but had my scan today and I'm having a girl! I'd have fallen over if I hadn't already been lying on a table lol I fully believed it was another boy and even told my mum that finding out today would just confirm what I 'knew'! Looks like I don't know much haha

I will need to read through the names posts more carefully tomorrow, just going to bed.
In my maternity/nursing wardrobe I already have;
1 work dress
3 nice dresses (could wear for work on sunny day or parties)
1 jeans
2 leggings
4 tshirt/long sleeved tshirts
1 work trousers
1 lounge trousers
5 pants
2 soft bras
2 tights
Up until now I've still been wearing some normal clothes but they're really starting to look too tight on my stomach. So tonight I just ordered from Asos...
3 more pants
1 more tights
2 tunics
Maxi dress
Another work dress
Denim jacket (non maternity)
I think all I need now is a couple of proper bras that fit my bigger boobs and that's me sorted. Most of the tops and dresses I've bought are nursing ones so can use for some time afterwards too.
Have I missed anything glaringly obvious?
My jackets / coats still fit ok for now. .

mascaraisamust · 24/02/2016 22:05

I put on my old sports bra yesterday as it was quite roomy (haven't worn it for months), couldn't even faster it!! Way, way too tight! C to and E!! Blush kaytee sounds very organised, I've got mostly dresses - I think I have about 6 dresses for work! I'm struggling for trousers though, got two pairs of jeans but the new look ones I'm already regretting getting a size 10! Need some smart trousers desperately and I agree with pants, that needs to go on my list. I can't get enough tights! I'm also finding I have no pjs that fit Confused

julfin · 24/02/2016 23:18

Bird - what a beautiful shortlist! My favourites in there are Florence and Penelope. Anna and Honor are both lovely names but I don't think you can combine them - Anna Honor doesn't sound right to me, sorry. The rest go well with Honor though.

KayTee87 · 25/02/2016 07:45

Mascara I got my jeans from mothercare size 10 and they have a very big stretchy over bump waistband so I hope they fit the whole way through. I got plain black work trousers from asda, they're smart enough for the next 4 months.
That is a big jump in cup size. I'm usually a 32g and don't know what I've gone up to, if it's much bigger I will struggle to even get bras online Shock
Only 2 or 3 pairs of my pj's fit, if they're in the wash I wear my husbands Grin

KayTee87 · 25/02/2016 07:46

Asos has lots of cute maternity pj's and nightys btw!

KayTee87 · 25/02/2016 07:51

Names - haven't actually given this serious thought yet as we don't know what we're having but here are a few I like (had to take Freya and Leila off our list as friends got there first)

Girls...
Megan Elizabeth
Sara Elizabeth
Elizabeth (Ellie) Grace
Elise ....
Nadia ....

Boys...
Graeme Scott
James (Jamie) Scott

Really struggling for boys names, if anyone can suggest any persian names that they don't think are too much for the UK (either boys or girls) please suggest away.
