scase I'm so sorry to hear about the kitten, so sad, and so infuriating that they won't listen to you. Always so hard when it's in-laws and you can't fully speak your mind.. It gets worse when babies/ chidren are in the mix in my experience I'm afraid!
Good luck for the scans today! Sure you're one eliz !!
allthegood very impressive shopping skills. And a good feeling to have ticked off biggies? Did anyone else have some good success @ the baby show?
bluebell sorry to hear your worries are surfacing. Maybe it's stress? It does funny things to our bodies. Good that they're looking jnto it, so don't feel silly at all. Can you try and get some extra rest?

I love the NHS (I'm very pro NHS) and my hospital really is great... Butt... Trying to make my 24 week midwife app (couldn't do it before as wasn't on the system) and it will be due in 3 1/2 weeks time. There is only one appointment available which I cannot make due to clashing with pick up (no one else available to help). The next closest appointment is the 30th March!! Where I'll be 26 1/2 weeks. Ive never known it like this before.

Cookiesandcoffee · 22/02/2016 10:38

anna I'm so sorry to hear about your DD, sounds very worrying and glad she is ok. Lots of cuddles today Cake and take some time to ref yourself. Things really take it out of you when pregnant

Cheery1 · 22/02/2016 10:39

Quick good luck to Elizardo and other ladies withb scans today! Will catch up properly later!

Scase is private renting not an option? You sound like you need to get out of there. If you are on a low income you will get help with housing costs plus once baby is here you will likely qualify for tax credits. Have a look on entitled to to see if you can afford to move out.

Bluebell I worry about my breasts too as MIL has breast cancer. I know that even before birth milk ducts can get blocked as well. It's not a raging pain just a dull ache really. Glad you are getting checked out for reassurance this afternoon. Odd heart feelings are quite common in pregnancy as the heart is working over time. I'm sure you will be fine.

Anna sorry to hear about your dd but glad she is on the mend now.

Cookies that's strange that you are even having a 24 week midwife appt. Is that the norm in your area? Here you only have an appt at 24 weeks if it's dc1. I have my 20 week scan on Wednesday and then I won't see the midwife until 28 weeks.

I may have another job. Eek I've messaged a few salons and one lady has got back to me. I've been honest and obviously said I'm pregnant and that I intend to leave at the beginning of June. It may turn out I don't get it but at least I've tried. I've already qualified for maternity pay but I don't want to sit around until July really.

Thom80 · 22/02/2016 11:20

Anna - I am 17 + 4 and haven't felt anything either. I feel reassured I am not the only one.
Bluebell - I hope you are ok, and the test are fine. I am incredibly anxious as well, and barely sleep thinking of everything that could go wrong. I find accupunture helps with mine. Also on advice from the forum started yoga, which is good too.

Ellizardo · 22/02/2016 11:32

Thanks for the good wishes ladies! And Bluebell, I think I'm a pretty laidback person but I totally feel you on the irrational thought issues regards preg and motherhood. And in any event, it seems to me, considering your own Ma, that this isn't a totally irrational experience and you have every right to be concerned. Good luck with the doc today.

Anna - how extraordinary, Ted had an awful chest infection over the weekend too and is now on Amoxicillin which looks like radioactive banana juice and tastes just as bad. Scared the living crap out of me during his coughing fits and his temp. I am so pleased your DD seems to be on the mend too. I even took him to his swimming lesson this morning as he's no longer infectious and he loved it..so sweet to see the smile on his face!

As for VBAC / ELCS, definitely the latter. I don't generally talk about it too much because it's a bit off-putting but essentially, after a failed 6 day induction with Ted (because of my gestational diabetes), I was given a semi EMCS and they didn't give me enough anaesthetic so I felt more than I should (shall we say) and they had to put me under general rather suddenly. All turned out perfect in the end and Ted scored 10 on the Apgar etc so at no point was he in danger but it was all a bit nerve-wracking and I'm not prepared to go through that again so soon! I read an article in the Metro where someone else sued Lewisham for £27k for exactly the same issue ...

This time I'd like Mozart in the background, a proper amount of drugs for my height and size (the excuse last time was I was bigger than they thought?!), and a calm environment. Is that too much to ask?! Grin

AnnaT45 · 22/02/2016 11:42

Thanks for your well wishes. Hopefully it clears up soon. Bless ted! That's great he's picked up already. We had that medicine three weeks ago for tonsillitis. Dr said yesterday it wasn't strong enough and that's why know the infection has spread to more places in the body. We've got strong ones now so I hope it fights it for good!

No I know what you mean about talking about it! Yes think ELCS sounds the best for you. 6 days is epic! I got to 30 hours and we had to get her out. You must have been exhausted! Couldn't do that again with ted and baby in tow!!!

Beautician yah for the new job potential. That would be great. Got my fingers crossed for you!

Thom with my first I was well past 20 weeks. I thought it may be earlier this time as my stomach muscles aren't as strong but who knows! You don't need to regularly monitor till 28 weeks anyway so try not to worry. It's amazing when it happens though!

I'm off work today and shattered so just chilling out and contemplating what to have for lunch!

Ellizardo · 22/02/2016 11:56

Anna - I wasn't in active labour for 6 days thank god, it was more the emotional toll of it all and the horror of those little cubicles in the antenatal ward. But yes, avoiding all of that uncertainty is key this time.

If you want lunch inspiration, I'm afraid I can't provide. I am having an early one and realized nothing in the fridge so microwaved a very odd 'asian' concoction of gyozas and spinach. I can't say I'll be repeating the experience!

Hope your little one feels better soon. xx

Vikkijayne2507 · 22/02/2016 12:01

Don't worry about movement, with my first I didn't feel anything to way after 20 weeks, this time I was 18 weeks and I feel him everyday time multiple times now.
It depends on where ur placenta is earlier on my was front last time and back this time so I feel loads more and earlier.

20+ 2

Thom80 · 22/02/2016 13:09

Vikki - I have a low posterior placenta, so was hoping to feel it earlier. But as it is my first, appreciate it might be later.
At a launch today and been eating free sandwiches. Always a bonus!

GoingLoopyQuickly · 22/02/2016 14:27

I am having so many freaky dreams. I usually remember my dreams but thankfully I can't remember most of these ones I just wake up relieved i can't remember them!

I got very emotional this morning when I couldn't get DS into the creche. But feeling a bit better from my over dramatising.

It is ok to feel a little drama while we grow people inside us.

Scase1firsttimemum · 22/02/2016 15:18

Bit of a funny story.. Well it is now!! OH was very lovely yesterday sorting our room out :) he put my mirror up on the wall using duct tape and it seemed to be quite stable.. Well last night around half 4 ish I was having a bit of a nightmare anyway, but then the mirror falls off the wall and smashes!! I pooed myself started crying and almost had a panic attack! If DP wasnt there to calm me down Id have gotten myself in a right state!! Funny thinking back but bloody hell! Haha

Scase1firsttimemum · 22/02/2016 15:19

By "pooed myself" I dont mean literally, it was a politer way of saying something else haha

Woodsy81 · 22/02/2016 15:25

Goingloopy, I had a dream my cat was catnapped last night. They left a ransom note and everything. It was so real. Was quite relieved to see him at the kitchen window this morning. Weird.

Primary, I know all about phsycho in-laws or in-law in my case. You have my sympathies. Off to see mine tonight and already dreading it. I get very anxious just being in her company.

Beautician, I am having to reason with myself all the time at the moment. Just seem to get upset or worked up a lot. I suppose some would see it as being upset over little things but to me these things are so important.

Anna, I am glad your little one is OK.

Scase, I hope the last little Kitten is OK. Must be so upsetting.

Anyone else super hungry all the time? Over the last few days I have been starving only about 20 mins to 1/2 hour after having lunch or dinner. Could just snack all day.

mascaraisamust · 22/02/2016 16:42

I hear you Woodsy on the food front! Literally every two hours I have to eat something!

Anna glad your dd is on the mend, must have been scary.

19 weeks today - midwife listened to the heartbeat at the appointment today so that will get me through another week of not stressing hopefully, he was hiding a bit though. Scan a week today, on the countdown again.

KayTee87 · 22/02/2016 17:42

beautician fingers crossed for a new job!
elizardo that sounds very traumatic, I really hope everything goes exactly how you want it this time, you definitely deserve it after that!
anna I was off today too, I keep getting dizzy spells. I phoned the midwife but eye said it sounds like low blood pressure and nothing they can do.

How do you ladies know where your placenta is? Mine was never mentioned my scan? Are you told at 20 week scan?

As I mentioned above I've been having dizzy spells - anyone else?

Also I feel as if my bladder is really getting squashed to the point that I'm always uncomfortable and needing to pee. I'm pretty sure that I don't have a urine infection but I thought that the uterus moved away from bladder in the middle of pregnancy?
Also getting a bit of shooting pain on the bottom left hand side of my back (have back/pelvis issues anyway)
Oh and heartburn most days Sad
I wasn't expecting these kind of symptoms until later on, suppose I will be living with them now until baby is born.

mascaraisamust · 22/02/2016 18:08

Kaytee I asked at my gender scan. I would check for a uti, backache is a common symptom. I've not felt dizzy however my app said that this week it is also a common symptom due to low pressure and to rise slowly x

KayTee87 · 22/02/2016 18:10

Yeah I will maybe get it checked anyway, I've had one years ago and I had discomfort peeing which I'm not getting but I suppose it could just be different this time!

Vikkijayne2507 · 22/02/2016 18:55

It will say on your notes they give you anterior or posterior. I asked specifically at my first scan

Scase1firsttimemum · 22/02/2016 19:12

I got told at my private scan that I have a posterior placenta

On the food front- definitely always hungry! I try to drink if Ive had something to eat not too long before as the body can get confused between hunger and thirst and put it off as hunger but it actually wants fluids. My mums a nurse and thats what shes told me before.. Hence why I am very pro NHS because they are amazing!! Every year I manage to go in hospital for something different! Last year I broke my hand in two places and they were very good at helping me with rehabilitation to avoid surgery at all costs! I have a medical rotational deformity now but still have full use of my hand Smile

birdandbee · 22/02/2016 20:11

My Placenta is high and posterior (optimal position for feeling movements) and I've only felt proper movements for a week and one of the most pregnant in our group. So I don't think anyone needs to worry about movements just yet.

Found out today that my supposed SPD isn't SPD, I have pelvic girdle dysfunction/ pain. This apparently is good as physio can help.... So here's to the next 20 weeks of being thighs to boobs in tubigrip!! 😕.

How's everyone else's Monday?

birdandbee · 22/02/2016 20:14

Ellizardo ans Anna- hope your little ones feel better soon!

Bluebell20 · 22/02/2016 20:27

Cookies I am being very good and getting lots of rest, I promise!

Beautician fingers crossed for a new job. That would be so brilliant!

Thom I didn't feel anything till 18+6. And thank you for the relaxation recommendations. I am not sure about acupuncture though because I am massively needle phobic! I had a full on nightmare about having my blood taken last night - thanks, vivid pregnancy dreams!

Ellizardo thanks for the empathy. And EEK to your childbirth experience! Really hope your scan went well.

Woodsy I am snacking quite a lot too. Made some amazing healthy ish flapjacks from the Honestly Healthy cookbook last week! You use melted coconut oil as your fat, and soak dates or prunes in water and blitz them up as your sticky sweetness rather than golden syrup, mix with dry ingredients and refrigerate. They are freaking delicious and cutting down my cravings for terrible terrible sweet delicious things.

ECG was fine this afternoon - obviously my heart behaved perfectly normally throughout - right up until when I went back into the waiting room, at which point it played up again. So annoying. But the GP thought it was probably just the change in the cardiovascular system due to pregnancy, coupled with my general hyper-awareness. I was reassured, and he was very understanding.

I was so good today ladies - did lots of work even though it was interminably boring and my crochet kept winking at me seductively across the room. I gave it the cold shoulder, flirtatious little rascal.

gnat99 · 22/02/2016 20:45

Hello everyone, happy to report our scan went fine on Friday Smile Sorry only posting now, have had a hectic few days of work and visiting friends.

Everything was normal, phew!! So relieved. The sonographer was lovely - very experienced but also made it special for us ('you've got a beautiful little baby in there'; that's a cute little hand on the left', etc.) She asked us at the start whether we wanted to know the sex or not, and when we said no, took great care to avoid that whole area - she told us at the end that she was in the dark as much as we were!

My scan letter specifically said I did not have to have a full bladder for this one. In fact I went to the loo right before we were called in, and it didn't affect the scan one bit. Think it's mainly an issue for the early scans as the baby and uterus so small still.

It was confirmed that I have an anterior placenta - it's not low enough to block the baby's exit come July, but does explain why I haven't felt any definite movement yet.

All very reassuring, and I feel so much better about everything now! Can start making plans finally, and think about buying things. Didn't realise quite how anxious I'd been until I found out everything was ok.

Congrats to the others who had scans on Friday too, and Elizzardo, hope yours went well today.

Finding it really hard to keep up with the thread at the mo'. Loads of news and comments I meant to respond to, but haven't had a chance.

Shattered after work today - have been fighting sleep for over an hour. Now I've had (decaf) tea and syrup waffles, so will have to stay up a bit longer to digest! My latest bugbear is heartburn at night and swollen ankles after work - didn't think I'd be propping legs up this early on.

Happy Monday everyone, hope you have a good week.

20+5

gnat99 · 22/02/2016 20:50

Bluebell, glad to hear your ecg went well and you're feeling better!

Thanks for the flapjack tips, I'm really struggling to cut down on sugar at the moment. Will try and ignore the two large tins of golden syrup in our cupboard....

I too have been starving pretty much all day today, even the huge bowl of porridge for breakfast didn't keep me going for too long! Hence the tea and biscuits just now Wink
