Erm clearly that should have read scans not scabs! Smile

primarynoodle · 19/02/2016 06:27

20 week scan went quite well :) baby is very active!
Consultant said everything looked normal but baby is on the smaller side (30th percentile) so i get growth scans every 4 weeks now.. trying to look on it as a positive as i get extra scans and more reassurance throughout!

I know many of you havent had your 20 week scans yet but for those who have did you have to ask to know if boy/girl or sid they tell you straight away? We dont want to find out but our consultant never asked either way (luckily she didnt blurt it out!)

gnat99 · 19/02/2016 06:34

Primary so glad scan went well, my friend had extra growth scans too both times and was delighted to get to see her little girl more often - one was on the small side at birth but 4 now and perfectly fine, the other was a thumper and still is at 2!!

Jem our scan is at 8.30, so in two hours time! Getting nervous now, heading out in a bit.

My phone also said scabs in my last post but I caught it in time Wink

Ellizardo · 19/02/2016 07:32

Good luck with scans everyone! Ours is on Monday. Fingers crossed. Ted is coming too to see his sister! Little does he know...

Primarynoodle - growth scans are ace, I had similar for Ted who was conversely too massive (!) and it was a lovely reassurance..you get quite spoilt in the end!

Goingloopy my dad is diabetic also so spending a whole day in hospital at 28 weeks fir glucose tolerance test then anti-d clinic as I'm rh neg. Really hope I've not got GD Sad
Sorry I've just skimmed through the rest of the posts while drying my hair. Hope you all have a happy Friday!

AnnaT45 · 19/02/2016 07:47

Happy Friday!!!

Hope you're all well? This thread moves so fast! I love it !

Good luck on the scans today! we weren't asked if we wanted to find out the sex last time. I think you have to ask them? We didn't find out last time and I loved dragging it out so will do the same this time.

Scase congrats on the kittens! I'm not really a cat person but even for me they're super cute! Hope they're ok and didn't keep you up last night?

I sort of contemplated a home birth last time round but I was due at Christmas time and live a good 30 mins from hospital ( no traffic) and wanted pain relief if needed so decided against it. In the end I was induced anyway but if you want to do it go for it! My only thing to ask is about help with breastfeeding ( if you want try) had I not been in hospital and got the help from the midwives I think I would have given up quick quickly. Just something to ask them and make sure they support you over those first hard few days.

Thanks for the reassurance re packing service for my move. That's really helped. My frugal friend thought it was a waste and could do it myself... She's never moved over 30 weeks pregnant with what will be a 16 month old in tow Grin

mascaraisamust · 19/02/2016 07:53

Good luck to all those with scans today and congrats to those who have had them!

Scase I love kittens, so cute! They'll keep you busy in the weeks to come im sure!

Cookiesandcoffee · 19/02/2016 08:19

Good luck with all the scans ladies!
scase they're gorgeous thank youuu Winkare you keeping any of them? I would be so attached and keep them all!!
No anna no judging on the packers! Also the cost ends up being pretty minimal in the scheme of buying houses! We didn't go for one last time and regretted it!!
primary at all of my 20 week scans they've asked at the start if I wanted to know. This time I told them I did already know but wouldn't tell them what sex Winkif you don't want to know I would definitely make it known just incase! Exciting you get to see baba more with these scans, I'm sure everything is absolutely fine

Great news on scan culture and good luck on ladies having scans today! Mine's on Tuesday - on countdown now!

Thanks all for support on cake gate, the saga continues….I made some sugar free, healthy brownies (really tasty link to recipe here thecakediaries.com/2015/02/) and there are only 2 little bits left this morning and some in the bin…..I've no idea what's gone on there but needless to say PRETTY ANNOYED THAT THERE'S CAKE GONE MISSING AGAIN!!!! I ask you?! I thought DH had learnt after last time. I think I need a really nice present now.

Scase - kittens are so cute!! We've got a very elderly, slightly bonkers cat who wouldn't take kindly to sharing us (bit worried about her around the baby tbh) but we really want to get a kitten at some point. Love them x

Bluebell - that's brilliant that your scan went well too - you must be really relieved. It was me asking about cross-trainer! I do about 30 mins but that's it, also swimming once a week which I love but a bit trickier to fit it. Go gym ladies!!

Beautician - this woman sounds like an idiot and frankly just lazy - BACS is a better trail than cheque surely as it's all online with the bank if she bothers to reference it all properly. How long do have to keep working? I need four more weeks for maternity allowance, and struggling to find the freelance work. I'm work in the arts and my agent basically told me to forget about work for a year, I mean what planet is she on?! I think her husband does something in finance so she could probably do that but I can't!! Anyway, it can be hard for us self-employed preggos. Hope you get it sorted x

Elizardo - that's so wonderful that you felt kicks - still not much here. Getting impatient and honestly a weeny bit anxious but trying to bat that off - anterior placenta, first timer, runner, etc.

Primary - ace that scan went well! Extra scans are a bonus too! Maybe this is an excuse for more cake…..not that I'm obsessed or anything….Blush

Good look to everyone who has scans today, it's so exciting. We are all on the countdown now and not counting up( if that makes sense lol)
Anyone else suffering with really dry mouth at night. I was up every hour last night, drink water as mouth like sand paper, need a wee, go back to sleep and then repeat every hour!!!
Oh the joys Smile xx

birdandbee · 19/02/2016 09:45

Jem my scan is at 11.50am, so not much longer to wait -Eeek! Good luck for yours!!

Thank you to everyone whose wished me luck with scan!

AnnaT - I'm still on the fence about a home birth. I'm a nurse so was quite frank when I questioned the midwife about what would happen in certain emergency situations and was quite satisfied with her answers. The less breastfeeding support that might be offered at a home birth, isn't something that bothers me too much as supporting/ teaching other women about breastfeeding used to be part of my job in varying capacity, until recently. Although I'm of the view that it's very different telling someone how and doing it myself, I think I can get things started anyway. I'm clearly bit worried that my baby might have a tongue tie though lol (I was born with one), not that I am consciously worrying about it, but I keep having breastfeeding dreams and baby being tongue tied comes up most times.

Bluebell20 · 19/02/2016 10:23

Cheery cake gate #2 sounds even worse than the first because some of it is IN THE BIN! This reminds me of Ross and his moist-maker turkey sandwich. 'You... You... You threw MY SANDWICH away?!'

I do swimming once or twice a week too - I am not a great swimmer but I do love it. So relaxing. I miss having my sauna at the end though! Think I am going to have to buy a maternity swim suit in the next week or so because I am asking a wee bit much of my poor size 8 Adidas sports suit now...!!!

Pinsey I've had night dry mouth on and off. It's horrible! Better now that I've just got over a cold though.

Primary our sonographer asked us at the start if we wanted to know. We said we already did because of the Harmony but would like confirmation, but she asked us not to tell her what the Harmony said so that she could look with an unbiased eye!

Anna the one thing my DH and I agree on about moving is that we are never, ever again doing it without packers! It is so worth the money!

Good luck with all the scans, lovely ladies!

Culture that's exactly how I will feel before my scan. I think we are finding out the sex. But we aren't telling friends or family either. We will tell them we didn't find out.

Cookies yes I've already qualified for maternity allowance but I really wanted to start it at the last minute so I've got longer off with baby. If it comes to it I'll just go mobile for a bit.

Jem hope you get some great images today. I think we are going to see Deadpool after the scan. I'm excited about having a day with DH it's very rare.

Gnat good luck for the scan today. It's so exciting but nerve wracking at the same time.

Anna we are moving over the Easter bank holiday as DH will be off work. I will have the three boys to entertain while unpacking. I've told DH to take the family room stuff first which is off the open plan kitchen. So hopefully I can keep them all in that section of the house out of the way.

Cheery thank you. We had a bit of a text argument last night. She said ok I'll pay you weekly by cheque, then said I need to meet her in the middle and she ended the message by saying I'm paying you monthly from now on. She contradicts everything she says. I'm so laid back and I only get into an argument I can win. It was quite comical last night she winds herself up. I asked if I could speak with her accountant to clarify a few things and she got funny. It's because she has fed me a pack of lies. I think she is of the impression that I'm an idiotic push over.
I can't believe your DH has done it with the cake again. I'm trying to be good but it's so hard. I would love cake.

Bird good luck for your scan too. There are so many today.

I think I'm feeling quite a bit of movement today. I feel like a huge milestone has been reached today.

20+0

Cheery1 · 19/02/2016 10:38

Bluebell - Hahahahahaha!!! I am turning into Ross Gellar!! Help!!! Same here on swimsuits - if you see any good bargains do share Smile

Beautician - gosh she sounds so tricky! If it gets worse, you could try Citizens Advice Bureau to make sure you know where you stand. Do you invoice her? Might be worth setting up something more formal from your side? So hard as you need the work eh? Sure you're remaining cheerful and professional, that's the main thing! That brownie recipe is sugar free, mostly butternut squash actually - tasty though!

Ah my mum just surprised me with a 4d scan for when baby is 26-32 weeks. A little groupon deal, bless!

Currently being spoilt at home, loving my mum cooking dinner each night and being waited on like a child!

Can't wait to hear about your scans ladies x

ScandinavianMom · 19/02/2016 10:56

Good luck on all your scans today ladies! Looking forward to hearing how it goes Smile

Mascara Lucky you on the 4D scan

AnnaT45 · 19/02/2016 12:22

Ah beautician you're my hero! Three kids and a move! I hope it all goes well. We're planning on getting stuff packed but unpacking ourselves. We will take the week off work and keep DD in nursery so we have time to do it!

Bird you'll be fine with the feeding then. I had a tough labour and an awful infection after so was unable to think straight. One midwife in particular say with me for an hour and helped me. I'll always be great full for her as without her I would have given up. I think it all depends on what kind of delivery you want. My sister was very much 'I dont want drugs and natural as possible' where i was like I want drugs if I need them Smile I started off in the birthing pool after I was induced and it was amazing! Highly recommend it. I ended up with an EMCS last time so it's likely I'll be having an elective this time round. Would be lovely to be at home for DD though.

I can't stop eating fish! What's everyone else craving?!
