I hope you all had lovely Christmas's and that Father Christmas bought everything that you wanted.

I got the new Take That album so i am really pleased Also DH got me a day at the Sanctuary Day Spa in Covent Garden, so i am looking forward to booking that up.

Bubs has been moving, kicking, somersaulting etc over the last week, especially when i lie down or just as i am dropping off to sleep!

Going to hit the sales today - i know that it will be madness, but not as mad as my mum who went to Next at 5.30am this morning!

BTW i have changed my email address to [email protected]

OOh forgot about TPT. I still measure 8.5 sheets at 21weeks and 6days. Although i have started to put more weight on, about 7lbs. But have started to fill up from the bottom of my bump if that makes sense.

Are there any scans this week? If there are then good luck to those having them.

Hi all,

Hope everyone has had a nice Christmas! Mine wsa very hectic and have just now driven back to London from Derbyshire as I have to work till Friday and am exhausted..

Its was dd's first birthday yesterday which was quite emotional, not least because my Dad acted like an idiot and managed to upset everyone at her party-but I dont think she noticed so thats the main thing -she was too busy playing with her 10 million new toys!(well more the wrapping apper really but still..)
I think I will be staying out of his way for a while as I am still very angry with him which isnt very nice at Christmas but I just cant help it..

not much to do at work.Bit bored.Might go down the Angel and have a shufty at the sales...Have got to find something to wear to a black tie wedding on Saturday..the situation is DESPERATE!

largevirginbirthandtonic · 27/12/2006 12:43

Santamum im about to 24 hour post the dresses and 2 new to you is your address the same as before? So sorry am useless i know!!!

Hello everyone else

largevirginbirthandtonic · 27/12/2006 12:56

I have the ball dress i wore a few weeks ago and a long posh black one too, it has avery stretchy boob bit. Hope that at least one of them is ok, i hope they get to you on time, am going to eat lunch and go to the post office straight away!!!!

Hope you all had a good xmas, ours was fab! The only downer being the kids all went away yesterday to stay with their poopy da

santamum · 27/12/2006 14:22

O bless you a thousand times-Im in no mood to face the mad sales shoppers at the moment-and im not so confident of finding much anyway as as my 'lovely' Auntie pointed out yesterday-Im a 'very odd shape'! grrrr.Yes, Address is the same...Hopefully one of your lovely frocks will fit as Im still not big enough for my black one, thank the lord, but the blue will be too small I fear, which is a shame as I ruddy love that frock.

THANKYOU!!

Golly im tired today-dd has stayed with her Nan and Grandpa whilst we are back at work as we are only here till the weekend and then back up to the wedding in Derbyshire- and the childminder doesnt work this week..I miss her like crazy but on the other hand it will be lovely to be just me and dh for a few nights-we are going to go out for our dinner and to the pictures, so it will be a real treat I think..but the house is odd without the baby in it...Cat is loving it though!

MKG · 27/12/2006 14:58

I wish someone had told me there was a new thread, I though everyone disappeared. Life is good here, still recovering from Christmas, but that's life.

CreenaberrySauce · 27/12/2006 15:06

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. We had a lovely family Christmas - the kids really enjoyed themselves and there were lots of fab pressies. DH gave me a voucher for a pre natal body & face treatment at Clarins, a Lulu Guinness purse, one of those 'Dream Genii' pillows which is just so comfortable to sleep on and some CDs and DVDs I've been hankering after. Once we'd had Christmas dinner and cleared away and finally sat down on the sofa, I was out like a light! I couldn't believe how knackered I was.

MIL didn't come over, as she'd threatened, but it was ok. She did drive over on Christmas Eve with presents but sat outside the house with the engine running - the kids had to tell us that she was outside. DH went out to swap presents and when he handed her the bag with her presents in, she said "there's not a bomb in there, is there?" DH just replied "No." I mean, honestly - she's behaving like a child. We still had a lovely time together anyway and I think that DH was also quite relieved that she didn't come to stay.

Families, eh? Cuh!

santamum · 27/12/2006 15:18

Blimey-why what has happened with the MIL?Apologies if ive missed something on an earlier thread...

I think we are having Christmas and DD's birthday more importantly, on our own at home next year-last year was lovely as all I had to do was have a baby, but no family around to argue and fight-next year im aiming for the same thing (minus the labour of course..)By then there will, all being well, be two babies to enjoy it with..

santamum · 27/12/2006 15:23

Also Creena, where did you get your dh as I want one like him with gifts like taht.Mine got me a Girls Aloud cd.

(OK, I actually quite like it, I confess)But would have sooner had had your handbag!

CreenaberrySauce · 27/12/2006 16:13

Ooo, it's a long, long story. Basically, she's been giving us the cold shoulder since the summer (when we said we were thinking of having another baby) and it got worse after I became pregnant. She's shown no interest in the baby whatsoever and has nothing to do with us - we invite her around for dinner, she doesn't turn up, she says things to the kids like "I won't be staying with you for Christmas as I don't want to be at your mum and dad's house" (presumably so they'll tell us, which they did), keeps DH on the doorstep when he goes to visit her etc etc. She's always been hard work though but we've perservered with her up until now. I guess we've just got to concentrate on our little family now, especially as we might have to move a bit further up north some time next year - DH has got a second interview for a job in January and it's looking promising.

As for pressies - I got Girls Aloud too!! The greatest hits one and also the Sugababes greatest hits too. I'm not ashamed - I love a bit of the old pop!! I would love to say that I did get a bag but it was actually a purse (DH noticed that the one I'd been using is a bit on the knackered side now as I've had it for years, bless him).

SnowyMeadow · 27/12/2006 16:40

MKG - sorry got carried away and forgot to mention new thread.

SantaMum - if have my black dress on stand by if you need it.

Been to the sales - have to say very disappointed. Although i did get a nice ourfit and some pj's from mamas and papas, a dress and top plus maternity tights from H&M and 2 pairs of boots! Also got Ella (hehe) a coat and 2 little outfits. Couldnt resist

Well after the fuus that my BIL caused about not wanting come and then wanting to come. He phoned on Xmas Eve and said 'yeah, well i just was phoning to say sorry' to which i replied 'too little too late'! He was pissed off as he thought he would be able to come. MIL didnt bat an eyelid and nothing was said about it on Xmas day. The day went really well - even better than i had hoped for!

Hello all, and a happy Christmas! I've had a lovely one, had a lovely time with ds (felt a bit poignant that it was our last one with him alone) and got some fab presents from dh. Baby really moving about all over the place (19 weeks now! Wow!) Looing forward to a few days of chilling out before back to work on the 3rd January.

JonahB, late Sat am is a regular Shoesfamily time to be in Caffe Nero, I will have to look out for you, although fear I will stare at strange women thinking "are you JonahB" whilst simultaneously trying to see if there's tea in the dregs of thier cup rather than coffee...

MistletoeandPebblemum · 27/12/2006 17:39

Afternoon all, hope you all had a great christmas. Ours was a bit of a disaster. DS2 got up in the morning, opened half his presents then put himself back to bed (not like him as he hates going to bed normally)He just wanted to sleep all the time, didnt want any more of his presents. He perked up a bit in time for dinner round MIL's but as soon as we got home he flaked out again. We kept him dosed up with Neurofen but nothing worked. We took his temp and it was 39.5 and it stayed that high right up until this morning when it seems to have come down a bit. We had the Dr out yesterday and he thinks its a chest infection but if hes still not right tomorrow im going to take him to my normal GP. Ds2 has only been to wee about 7/8 times in 3 days yet he is drinking plenty (normally hes always going) We have to be careful as Dh and FIl have both had problems with their kidneys and as a result only have one each. Fingers crossed though that hes on the mend (we have a busy weekend planned so i really hope hes ok by then)

Apart form ds2 being ill we had a nice time, got totally spoilt. I got a Robbie Williams cd, digital camera, pyjamas (most of mine are getting too tight) and lots of other things, a nice 'mum' bracelet from the boys, and lots of other great things. Ds1 was impressed with his nintendo ds, he has hardly said a word hes too busy playing on it, his friend got one too and they have been linking them up (if we all knew how quiet the kids would be we would have got them ages ago )

I had better go Ds2 is asking for cereal (its all he seems to want to eat at the mo)and i cant keepa poorly boy waiting. If i dont get on before Happy New Year to you all.x

StarlightStarbrightSKYTVtonite · 27/12/2006 20:13

Hi all. Hope you all had a lovely christmas. We did but I feel really tired now and we are out Thursday, Saturday and Sunday nights.

DP and I went to Kiddicare in Peterborough to look and came home with a new Travel System, Cot, Baby Monitor and changing bag!! The good news is that his mum and dad have bought the travel system and both things are being kept at their house.

I really wasn't ready to buy but DP got excited at the sale prices and so I went along with it.

I also had a good look at the Tots Bots and am going to really think about real nappies.

Anyway betta get on, just wanted to report on the purchases

santamum · 28/12/2006 14:26

Blimey Creena, your MIL sounds horrendous.I hope your dh getst ahts job then as you will be better off out of it.Its a shame though when people are like that..

Im coming down with dh's chest infection I think-but still, off to see Casino Royale tonight whilst dd is away. Its really horrid in the house without her anyway-I thought I would enjoy the rest but I just miss her too much to really.

Anyone any wild plans for New Years Eve?We are having some friends from our antenatal class over with the babies which should be quite nice really.

CreenaberrySauce · 28/12/2006 14:34

Sky - just wanted to say thanks for the tip on Kiddicare! I've just been on their site and bought a bargainous travel system that both DH and I like (he tends to prefer the sporty, trendy numbers while I like the more old fashioned looking ones with carry cots and the like). We got it for over £300 less than the RRP, which is excellent. I can imagine myself visiting this site a few more times in the coming months.

While I'm on about it, I've been thinking about getting a changing table. I didn't have one for either of my older children and I don't think my back has ever forgiven me! I just want a basic, not too large one - we need to move house at some point soon as we're going to be strapped for space but have decided to wait until DH finds out about this new job and until after the baby is born. This means that we'll only have room for a moses basket and a compact changing table at first. So no cot top changers or big dressers for us. Can anyone recommend a decent but compact changing table? I see that some come with baths too but is filling and emptying them a bit cumbersome? I've spotted a pretty bog standard one in Ikea - does anyone know if it's any good or would I be better off spending a few more quid elsewhere?

CreenaberrySauce · 28/12/2006 14:39

santamum - yes, I agree. It's all a bit sad but we've been trying hard with her for years and now have run out of patience, I suppose. Moving will sort of solve things I suppose and maybe she might come to her senses not having us around and wondering what her new grandchild is like (when it finaaly arrives).

Sorry to hear about the chest infections - poor little DS and poor you! Chest infections, are not nice at all. Your NYE plans sound lovely! We don't have anything planned - we usually stay in with the kids and pop a cork or two once midnight arrives. Obviously, I'll be having just one glass of bubbly this year (or two if I make it Buck's Fizz!)

santamum · 28/12/2006 14:42

I have an Ikea one and its fine..
I had a Mothercare one first and it was realy rickety so I dont think you can odds it really..
Also I have just a sort of top thing that goes over the cot for upstairs which is a good space saver if you're concerned about that when you move and it works fine..Taht was only about a tenner from Mothercare..

CreenaberrySauce · 28/12/2006 14:56

Cheers, Santamum! I quite fancy the Ikea one - it looks quite nice and sturdy and compact. I do like their kids stuff, so might get the cot and stuff from there too as soon as we have somewhere to put it. Now all I've got to do is persuade DH that it would be really great to visit Ikea before we go back to work........not sure he'll go for it!

LetitShnowLetitShnowLetitShnow · 28/12/2006 15:26

Afternoon all!

Glad to hear that you all survived Christmas in once piece. Pleased to report that I too am still in one piece although having spent Christmas day with both of my Grandmothers, I am surprised there weren't more casualties. DH light-heartedly refers to them as The Racist and The Religious Nut. Unfortunately, they suit their monikers quite well. By Christmas lunch they had already put the world to rights according to their incredibly skewed and frankly disgusting views. If you want two pensioners who are racist, homophobic, keen on capital punishment and convinced of their own piety, then you need look no further than my grandmothers. And never play Trivial Pursuits with them because when asked which organisation was headed by Pol Pot they will randomly guess 'Nazis' and 'Communists'. Oh and I believe they referred to Yasser Arafat as 'the bloke with the tea-towel on his head' at one point. It was a bit like an Alan Bennett sketch, but more embarrassing.

Funniest conversation of the day:

Me: Grandma, would you like a little bit of Christmas pudding or trifle...
Grandma: I'll have Christmas pudding dear, with trifle on top.
Me: Aren't you diabetic?
Grandma: Yes, usually, but it's Christmas.

Thankfully, she hadn't collapsed in a diabetic coma by boxing day, but she had a good bloomin go.

DH and I didn't bother with presents for each other as we're skint and I figure I'm giving him a baby in May. We did get some nice things from others though. DH has lots of new power tools, I have lots and lots of books- some on parenting- and some crafty things. I was dragged into town yesterday to pick up some milk and bread with my Mum and she insisted in nipping into a few shops. The baby now has lots of sleep-suits and cardigans from a very doting Grandma.

On Boxing Day we went to watch the football. Ordinarily I can't stand football, but DH's Grandad has a corporate box so we got a free four-course meal, watched the match from a box with complimentary drinks, mince pies and chocolates. I am nearly ashamed to say that I fell asleep half-way through, but I'm pregnant so won't berate myself too much. We had lots of old friends, DH's relatives and my brother over for Boxing Day and we played the piano, drank mulled wine, ate too much and sang lots of songs. It was lovely.

Highlight: Vicar of Dibley and time off with DH

Lowpoint: Seeing relatives I haven't seen for ages and each one exclaiming 'my aren't you enormous'.

I'm currently looking forward to Sunday (not because it's NYE, IT'S MY BIRTHDAY!!) and I have my 20wk scan on Wednesday. Is it Pebble's that is on Tuesday- I know somebody is the day before me? I am incredibly nervous about it. Still having days when the baby barely moves and days when it seems to be training for the Olympics.

Anyway, have restful New Year's if I don't catch up beforehand.

Sorry to write an epic...!

LupinsBigLump · 28/12/2006 18:05

MereNoel · 28/12/2006 18:59

Why is there a new thread and no link from the old one then. Thought you'd all done a runner. Thanks Lupins for letting me know, only ever put our thread on threads I'm watching so never look at the others in ante-natal. Peed off now!

MereNoel · 28/12/2006 19:02

Sorry, just re-read that post and it sounds like I'm peed off with you lot, of course I'm not, I'm peed off with myself for not checking for a new thread. Sat here like a sap watching the old one for days.

JonahB · 28/12/2006 19:21

Evening ladies, glad you hear you've all survived christmas!!!!

Intheseshoes, seriously, look out for the big fat muffin that is ALWAYS on my tray . Probably less embarrassing that peering right into my cup?. Actually, I did it the other day. I walked past a tall, blond prgt lady the other day, with a child. Made mental note to self that I must not stand staring gormlessly at random ladies ? pgt or otherwise, that?s cause for arrest!!!!!

Letitshnow ? lol at your racist grandparents. Obviously, I?m not laughing at their views in an ?agreement? kind of way, but once you reach a certain age, people don?t change their opinions, however misguided they are. DH?s grandma, when she was alive, said to DH after she met me for the first time, ?Nice girl, is she touched with the tarbrush?? I mean, really!!!!! I did laugh though ? its such an awful, racist expression that hopefully died out with her generation. Happy birthday for Sunday!!!!!!

Pebble, sorry to hear about the illnesses in your house. Hop everything is okay?.

I?ve got my 19 week scan first thing in the morning. Bit nervous. I'm sure everything is fine, well, i hope so anyway, but its still all quite frightening. Wish me luck, ladies??..
