I hope you all had lovely Christmas's and that Father Christmas bought everything that you wanted.

I got the new Take That album so i am really pleased Also DH got me a day at the Sanctuary Day Spa in Covent Garden, so i am looking forward to booking that up.

Bubs has been moving, kicking, somersaulting etc over the last week, especially when i lie down or just as i am dropping off to sleep!

Going to hit the sales today - i know that it will be madness, but not as mad as my mum who went to Next at 5.30am this morning!

BTW i have changed my email address to [email protected]

hello all. im new to this. im 19 weeks 2 days. got 20 week scan on 3rd jan. kinda nervous about it (dh is more nervous than me tho)!! as had slight high nuchal result 3.2mm. but risk factor 1 in 646 so not terrible. having anomoly scan and specialist cardiac scan too. (because of high HT result and also dh daugher had small hole in heart)fingers crossed all is ok...
anyway. apart from that im feeling great!!
feeling something move inside. also when i was half asleep in bed the other night with hand on bump i could swear something kicked it and my belly moved! not done it since tho when im fully awake but im sure i wasnt imagining it!!

LetitShnowLetitShnowLetitShnow · 29/12/2006 12:27

Hey madeindevon and a big welcome to the May07 madness. I also have my scan on January 3rd so we can hold virtual hands. You're right 1 in 646 isn't even considered high risk so let's hope everything is okay!

Tell us more about yourself, we're all nosey...

madeindevon · 29/12/2006 12:34

ummmm. well im 33. dh is 41 with 3 kids from first marriage.
really excited about baby. wasnt sure i would be a mummy as dh had vascetomy and i had ectopic years ago. but after one false start (mc in june this year) im hoping all will go well for us this time! feel very lucky.
i work in the city as an energy broker. unfortunatly i think i will be returning to work after baby but hope to take advantage of full 12 months maternity leave before then.
what else you wanna know!?

madeindevon · 29/12/2006 12:36

to let it snow....yes!! lets hold virtual hands!! mine is 5.30 on 3rd jan so wont post til 4th for the results.
is this first baby or??

MistletoeandPebblemum · 29/12/2006 13:05

Welcome Madeindevon,

Hello the rest of you

Sorry i havent been on for a few days, ds2 has been really bad. His temp stayed at 102-103 for three days, he slept almost all the time and even when he was awake there was no life in him, to make it worse he wasnt urinating depsite drinking lots so we were worried about that too. We ended up seeing three doctors in three days as well as calling NHS Direct, ds2 was breathing really fast and shallow as though he was struggling. He's had three different prescriptions each one stronger than the last and it seemed he would never got better, there was even talk of taking him to hospital if he didnt improve. Luckily he seems to have turned a corner at last, his temperature has suddenly gone back down to normal and stayed like that since 7pm last night and he is up and about playing, he even had the energy to argue with ds1 so i think he is on the mend He may even get dressed today, poor boy has been in jimjams since Christmas Evening. Fingers crossed he keeps getting better, its my mums 60th party tomorrow and i dont want to miss it, all our relatives are going to be there but of course ds2 comes first.

Not long now until my scan, 4 days I cant wait. The little one is moving but not as much as i would like so i could do with the reassurance. I have also come to terms with the fact that im probably having a boy so i feel a bit more relaxed, i was dreading it before as i hated the thought but ive realised it wont be that bad. Ok so i will never get the chance to buy pretty clothes or girlie toys or have the fun of organising her wedding and my house will always be full of smelly football socks and non stop talk of what team is the best etc but at least i will have three strong lads to take care of their poor old mum when she gets old and decrepid and who can help with DIY around the house. I also think bringing a girl into the family would disrupt the balance, she would feel a bit left out as ds1+2 would have more in common with each other than with her and before anyone else says it (ive heard it enough from my relatives)I do not intend on having a fourth baby to rebalance it out. Do I sound convinced enough yet

Im afraid i have only skimmed the posts so cant comment on any but im sure i will get round to it later, for now im off to have some lunch, thankfully not turkey sandwiches

Hi Pebble, glad to hear DS is on the mend, how worrying for you. Christmas is the worst time to be ill as well, all those plans and too lethargic to be excited by it all. Your scan will be here before you know it- we will await a detailed description of how it went.

madeindevon, this is my first so I am usually a bag of paranoia and nerves, but I think that's a symptom of pregnancy anyway. We had a bit of an uphill struggle too when trying to conceive. It took a long time, a miscarriage at around the same time as you and lots of tears for it to eventually click. I can't quite believe we're half way there already.

I can't pretend to know what an energy broker is- you'll have to elucidate. And as far as what else we want to know, well... you've missed a lot of chat... so we need to know size of bump, cravings, hopes for birth, fears, worries, names, effect on libido, movements felt, most ridiculous thing you have cried at etc etc. I'm only joking, the only important question is:

Do you eat Krispy Kreme Donuts? There's a bit of an addiction to them among some of the May07ers. Personally, I still don't know what they are. I'll stick to gingerbread.

Anybody seen the pic of LTH's bump on member profiles? She looks fab!

MistletoeandPebblemum · 29/12/2006 15:08

Ive just looked at LTH's bump, isnt it scary to think we will all look like that soon. Im quite happy with the bump ive got now although i look more advanced than 20wks, everyone keeps asking if im having twins or if my dates are correct. Im about the size my neighbour was at 8 months although she is quite slim whereas i had a head start As for stretchmarks I havent got any so far but theres still plenty of time.

I am so happy at the moment. DS2 is back to being his normal noisey annoying bossy self and its great He's already moaned at me because he couldnt find something, as if i had deliberatly moved it. Who would have thought i would be happy to have a stroppy 3yr old back but its so different to how he has been I dont care, he can annoy me as much as he wants for the next day or so, at least then i know he is ok. I know i moan sometimes that he doesnt sleep but having him sleep almost continuously for 4days was horrible, i much prefer to see him reaking havoc Only problem is my nice tidy house that has remained spotless since Christmas Day now has lots of toys everywhere (ds2 is making the most of everything he got)Oh well back to normal lol

MKG · 29/12/2006 15:25

Pebble with ds I didn't have any stretch marks, and then overnight in the 7th months I woke up with a huge bump and stretch marks. It literally happened overnight.

SnowyMeadow · 29/12/2006 15:38

Wow LTH bump is impressive!

I am also in the I HATE PEOPLE TOUCHING MY BUMP GANG. Especially when they dont even ask. I dont mind a select few, but i am really funny about my Dad touching it. Dunno why. I dont see why people think that they can touch your belly when you are pg when they wouldnt do it if you werent pg.

Pebble - pleased to hear that your ds is feeling better today.

MN - send me a nudge to let me know that M is ok. Also, after you mentioned tea and choc biscuits, i went on to munch my way through a chocolate fudge yule log slice, half a pack of malteasers and a triple bar!

Madein Devon - Welcome to the Mad May 07 thread. I hope that you are able to keep up with the pace!! I struggle! Also I think that LetitShnow forgot to mention Toilet Paper Tuesday. This is for measuring your bump to see how you grow without depressing ourselves to see howmuch weight we have piled on!. Simply get a length of loo roll and wrap it around your bump - belly button to belly button. Quite simple, but when partners find out what we are doing they all think we have lost the plot! Will you be finding out the flavour at your scan? Please feel free to off load on us as much as you like, we all do it

OP posts:
MKG · 29/12/2006 16:20

I don't really mind people touching me when I get a bump. I feel that it opens them up to hearing about all the good and bad things about pregnancy. Ya know, gas, heartburn, frequent urination, constipation (or in my case the lack of bowl control, I'll just say once I get the urge, people need to get out of my way). I figure they showed an interest and opened the door for me to let it all out.

Of course the only people that try are family and close friends. However if a stranger did it (as happened to my sister) I would have have to knock them out.

Hello all, spent 2 hours waiting at the dr's. Good news and bad. Not measles or any contageous disease thank god. No new infections so doesn't think it is a viral rash either. It turn out that he thinks it is an allergic reaction to the penicillin she has been taking for 7 days for her chest infection. So no penicillin for M any more. Dr going to send her for an allergy test when she is a little older to make sure that is the problem. Hope you are all ok. xxx

SnowyMeadow · 29/12/2006 17:26

so relieved that it isnt Measles MN. Hope the rash clears up soon.

I dont mind certain people touching my bump, but when i went to watch a neighbour at a charity gig i was really peed off when a random OLD man just rubbed my bump and said 'ah you look ready to pop'. I was 4mths at the time, so no where near popping! Who gives him the right to just touch me. Dh stood there and let ithappen TWICE. Now if i wasnt pg and someone rubbed my breasts i think DH would have done/said something. Whats the difference?

Anyway, ranting over

SM,

Maybe if you breastfeed people will come and grag your boobs.

SnowyMeadow · 29/12/2006 17:34

Just been surfing the net in a moment of quietness and came across this.

'You've probably gained between 12 and 15 pounds / 5.4 and 6.8 kilograms.' this is for a 22week pregnancy. Made me feel quite good as i have only put on 6lbs so far, but feel massive. So if any of you ladies are feeling Massive and have put on less than this, then think how much more c-rap you can eat without feeling guilty

OP posts:
SnowyMeadow · 29/12/2006 17:34

Thats a sure fire way to clear a room!

When i bf my son my MIL and her partner plus BIL's all evacuated the room! Was quite funny really.

OP posts:
MereNoel · 29/12/2006 18:56

I must be an odd one on that front. None of my family or dh's or friends actually have ever batted an eyelid at me bfeeding. I have to say it doesn't bother me in the slightest. I find it very natural and will do it anywhere!! I don't mind seeing it anywhere either.

SnowyMeadow · 29/12/2006 19:51

I have no problem doing it in public, it just makes me laugh when you spot the squeemish ones!!

twelvedaysofchristmas · 29/12/2006 19:51

Hello, hello!

Welcome Madeindevon. Don't envy you doing energy trading near the end of your pregnancy. Did you say this was your first? Braxton Hicks versus Narky Client... Do you think you'll take your maternity leave quite early? (Only mention this as one of our sales traders decided to work up to 39+1 and ended up having to go earlier than planned. I also work in the City, though as a lowly equity trading desk assistant! Am leaving at 34 weeks. HOPEFULLY won't have to go back, but we'll see.

Gosh, I'm glad about that weight gain thingy. DH has been going mad about all the sweets I've been eating. I've really outdone myself. Had to promise to throw out all uneaten junk food on Jan 1st. Actually, don't really mind as I've pretty much sickened myself of it. Anyways, think I've gained about 9 lbs, though was a little hefty before, so the less gained the better really. Wonder if I bought a really heavy pushchair would it help shift my weight? DH thinks I'm nuts. Almost had him agreeing to go to Brent Cross to look in John Lewis and then the "People try to kill each other in the sales" item came on the telly and that was it really.

Have read through what I've missed but the laptop appears to be overheating and is burning my thighs. Think I'll switch off for a bit.

DH is out. Am thinking about going to the cinema on my own. Is that a bit sad? Hmm...

MKG · 29/12/2006 20:04

Breastfeeding is my biggest nightmare. I hated doing it with ds and I cringe at the thought of doing it again. I'm going to try though, because I'd rather try and fail again then not bother. Honestly it doesn't bother me if I do or don't breastfeed. OK I said it out loud.

I haven't said that to anyone. Honestly it's an issue I think about everyday.

SnowyMeadow · 29/12/2006 20:15

I breastfed for 10wks but for the most part it was a mix of breast and formula. I want to give it a proper go this time. But am not going to make myself feel bad if it doesnt last as long. Its not for everyone.

OP posts:
MKG · 29/12/2006 20:19

You got me beat. I threw in the towel after two weeks.

I just keep thinking that a different baby means a different experience.

JonahB · 29/12/2006 20:49

Lupins, I?m 5ft and proud of every last inch MKG, I?ve now made a mental note not to stand ANYWHERE near you during our thread chats, as I will probably be staring into your cleavage region . That ?early delivery? theory didn?t work with me, I?m afraid. I was 11 days late and delivered an 8lb 8 baby

Intheseshoes, thanks for narrowing my stalking down to only brunettes!!! Funnily enough I was in there this afternoon. My blueberry muffin was yummy?mmmm?.

Letitshnow, you rant away, girl. Sorry to hear about your dad?s childhood though, that is really sad (in the true sense, not any modern cool way). In my DH?s grandma?s case, a ?tarbrush? referred to anyone who wasn?t a WASP. Which was bizarre, cos neither was she. Oh and I entirely agree with you on the bump touching. GET YOUR HANDS OFF, I?M NOT PUBLIC PROPERTY!!!!!

Pebble, delighted to hear your DS is back to his usual boisterous self.

Hi Madeindevon, nice of you to join us!!!

Re the b/fing issue, I whipped mine out last time whenever and wherever it was required. It was a bit uncomfortable in front of my dad and DB?s, however, I just thought, ?tough!? Don?t see why I should have to sit in another room, on my own, for 20 mins if my child needs feeding. If you don?t like it, don?t look. Right, (sound of jonah climbing down from her soapbox and shuffling away?.). MKG, certainly don?t beat yourself up if it?s not for you. In the UK, pro-bfing is such a big deal and the pro-bfing police are out in force. I really feel for the women who can?t or don?t want to. A couple of the girls in my last ante-natal group didn?t bf for one reason or another and I just felt so bad for them as they felt that they had to justify themselves all the time. That is not right. It?s every mother?s personal choice. How dare any m/w or health visitor make them feel bad about that? (Sound of deep, slow breaths as I clamber down a 2nd time from my box). Sorry to rant, these issues really bug me. We have enough to feel constantly guilty about without people helping us on our way?..

My good news for the day is that I had my 2nd scan and everything is fine and wonderful . Little Jonah is happily loafing in there, all my tests have come out well, I?m very pleased. Does anyone know what it means if you have an "anterior placenta?" I know it means it's at the front, but are there any side effects or issues I should know about? The m/w said it like it was a good thing?!?

JonahB · 29/12/2006 20:50

G-d, that was bl**dy War & Peace!! So sorry ladies
