I hope you all had lovely Christmas's and that Father Christmas bought everything that you wanted.

I got the new Take That album so i am really pleased Also DH got me a day at the Sanctuary Day Spa in Covent Garden, so i am looking forward to booking that up.

Bubs has been moving, kicking, somersaulting etc over the last week, especially when i lie down or just as i am dropping off to sleep!

Going to hit the sales today - i know that it will be madness, but not as mad as my mum who went to Next at 5.30am this morning!

BTW i have changed my email address to [email protected]

errrrr havemt had a scan merenoel lol thanks anyway - JonahB had one

we do have lidl here and the nappies (cien) are the same, i used them for a while with dd, also their wipes are fantastic, about 89p for 80

lucyw19 · 30/12/2006 18:10

hello everyone,

I had my scan yesteday and i caved and out, we're having a boy!!

I am obv happy, but i skied myself up i wanted a girl!!

Tell em all about your lovely baby boys and names please =]

SnowyMeadow · 30/12/2006 18:44

Lucy - congrats on your little boy. They are so lovely. My ds is 20mths and is soooo cuddly. They can be pickles but are really scrummy when they are. We are having a pink one this time, and dh is more worried about having to learn to clean new 'bits' as he is so used to cleaning boys parts! Apparantly boys are supposed to be more cuddly and loving than girls.

MN - Crikey! Hope M perks up and that nasty rash disappears.

Re the whole baby thing - i look at the birth and bf'ing in the same way. Give it a go and see how you get on. I wish i had continued bf'ing J, but i think we were so knackered that we caved into the formula as it meant we could take it in turns to SLEEP! My nephew couldnt latch on to his mother and had formula from day one. There is a month between the 2 boys, J being the elder, and there is no difference in their build or health at all. One of the girls in my ante natal class thought it was the most unnatural thing she could think of and said that her breasts were for her partner! She bottle fed and wouldnt let the nasty MW's bully her into it. Who knows what will happen this time around, but i will give it a go and if i can do it for a day, week, month, 6mths then i will be proud of myself. Dont let your midwives or health visitors make you feel bad if you dont/cant do it. And just remind yourself of what they say to you at the ante natal classes 'this is your baby, and you and your partner are the only people who knows what is best'.

lucyw19 · 30/12/2006 18:52

awww, thank you for that!! I feel bad for wanting a girl but u cant help how u feel!!
And all i want is a healthy baby of course, its just theirs only ever been girls in my family!!

JonahB · 30/12/2006 19:17

Evening ladies,

Letitshnow, thanks for the advice. Glad there?s nothing to be worried about.

MN, thanks for the intended good wishes . See Lupins, us smallies are already getting mixed up ? our friends can?t recognise the difference between the tops of our heads

Lucy, congrats on your blue flavour!!!! Don't be too disappointed, little boys are fab!!!! My DS is 18 months and a little treasure. I can?t speak for other people?s LO?s, but SM is right about mine, he can?t get enough big cuddles and kisses. Long may it last!

I haven?t had a good shopping day today, so I?m a little gutted. I went on what I hoped would be my only maternity clothes shopping trip to get a nice warm jumper, which didn?t reach my knees and a work shirt, which wasn?t plain white and therefore see through. Could I find anything? Could I b*gger. I tried Topshop, Next (tiny selection due to sales), Warehouse (only online), H&M. I?ve also been trying the internet with no more luck. If any of you find a lovely warm knitted jumper on your virtual/real shopping travels, do let me know. I?ll be pushing man, woman and beast out of the way to buy it . Has anyone tried the New Look maternity range yet? What?s that like?

MKG · 30/12/2006 20:12

Lucy,

When I was pregnant with ds I really wanted a girl and was so upset for about a month after i found out. I think it's natural.

My ds has been the joy of my life, especially since he's just learned to give kisses. He's 16 months of pure heaven, and I couldn't have asked for me. Honestly if he were to be my only child, I would be content.

CreenaberrySauce · 30/12/2006 20:14

Lucy - congrats on the scan!

MereNoel - glad to hear that your DD is picking up now. Poor little thing. Sounds as though she's really been through the mill.

I'm going to start a thread in Pregnancy with what is a silly question but woul also like to pick your brains here! I was given a Lush gift set for Christmas - the Chirpy Christmas one - but I don't know whether their products are safe to use during pregnancy. I know that some of them contain aromatherpay oils, which aren't always advisable during pregnancy. There's nothing in the packaging to suggest that they can't be used and their UK site seems to be down at the moment. Does anyone know whether I can use these or not?

MKG · 30/12/2006 20:41

Ok I need to know if this is happening to anyone else out there. I just got out of the shower and . . .

I have stuff coming out of my boobs. My nipples have been so sore lately and when I was in the shower I squeezed them (sorry tmi) and clear liquid came out. This didn't happen in my other pregnancy and I think it's totally normal, but I would like to know if anyone else is experiencing this.

CreenaberrySauce · 30/12/2006 20:49

I haven't as yet, MKG. My nipples haven't been that sore though, to be honest. It's more the boob part that's been sore for me. I haven't noticed anything emitting from my nipples either. I'm sure it's perfectly normal - I'll see if I can find anything on any sites anywhere for you and post up links if I do.

LupinsBigLump · 30/12/2006 21:10

Lol Jonah thats cos we are changing by the day

Lucy congrats on lille blue, my friend was wanting a pink one and got a blue, she was gutted for a while , however he is lovely - the happiest baby in the world always smiling and laughing

MGK no leaking but dry flakes around nipples so have maybe leaked and not noticed there was none today, im sure its normal

Creena - I got lush stuff as well, smells so good, but am not sure what is safe, my mum makes all her own soaps and creams (they are lovely) if you let me know what the flavours are she might be able to help

MereNoel · 30/12/2006 22:03

Humble appologies Lupins and Jonah. Knew I'd missed something after I'd written that essay before. Brains, shot to peices.

MKG the stuff comming out of your nipples is totaly normal, it's just your boobs getting ready for making all that yummy double cream. I haven't experienced it my self with either of mine this early but I have nearer the end and have read about it happening in the second trimester in the 1001 pg'cy book I have stashed in my bed side table.

dd looking much better, the roar red colour is def subsiding, her temp has stayed down. The injection she received in her butt at the hospital has worked wonders. Hope she sleeps all night. BLISS!!!

You should all try the cien range from lidl if you get chance, well worth a shot.

Congrats on you baby boy Lucyw19, my first is a delightful blue one. Nice things to make you feel good about having a boy. Ummmmm.................................................................. hold on still thinking,,,,

He's 4

No, honestly I felt the same as you before he arrived, all girls in our family too. Didn't think I'd know what to do with a boy but of course you do and baby boys are just soooo squidgy, Ohhhh makes me go a bit gooey thinking about it. With out a doubt too, Boy's love their Mummys, they are sooo cuddly and affectionate, girls are far more independant and no fuss please. Ok the whole pink and clothes thing is missing, (which is fun, no matter what anyone says) but if you go on to have a girl next then just think how well looked after she'll be by her BIG brother. ds dotes on dd, she is his princess and he is bruva as she says! She stands at the door when he is due home from school shouting bruva and it's the first thing she shouts in the morning. Her face lights up when she see's him. It is soo cute to watch.

Ahhhhhh SM you have all of that bit to look forward to. Yey

twelvedaysofchristmas · 30/12/2006 23:32

Creena - it appears you can get pre-folded nappies and shaped reusables and plastic tabs to hold them together and nappies with velcro fastenings and all sorts. I really only want to use them from the ecology point of things. I'm already planning things like how many different bins I'll need in my new house - rubbish/ recycling/ composting/ kitchen waste for council collection.

I'm not a tree-hugger by any stretch, but I suppose rubbish reduction is one place I feel I can make my own bit of a difference.

Managed to finally choose a new fridge, washer and dryer today and did it all without DH's help so now he's free to come with me to look at pushchairs tomorrow. Har har har. He still thinks I'm nuts, but I think he'll induldge me. If not I'll go on my own. I just want to have a shortlist of pushchairs I like so I can investigate further and then be ready to buy one in a couple of months.

How are we all this evening? Glad to hear your DD is getting better merenoel.

I slept til about 2 today! Didn't go to sleep til about 5am. Am going to have to go to bed earlier tonight or else I'll be really sorry come Tuesday when I'm getting up at 6.

LupinsBigLump · 31/12/2006 06:13

12doc hope you got a good nights sleep, I got a whole 5 hours after dd woke up sick, she is now nurofened on the sofa, I agree with you about reduced rubbish, however atm i am fed up as we are down to fortnightly collections and what with xmas I am inundated in rubbish, got 4 bags in back garden yukkkkk, and loads of recycling

Merenoel glad dd is bit perkier - quite scary for you tho

I was lying in the bath last night enjoying feeling LO beat me up from inside (do anyone elses kicks actually hurt - the are so painful sometimes) they were being really active, anyway along comes dd mummy mummy disturb the peace, noise noise shout sing, I did laugh tho cos LO disappeared ran away and hid not a kick at all while she was around - I think she scared it off

SnowyMeadow · 31/12/2006 08:53

Arent the fortnightly collections just the biggest joke! My bin gets 1/2 full within the first few days after its been emptied and then you just have to cross your fingers that it will all cram in and that the time passes quickly. I phoned my local council and got told that during Xmas week we could leave an extra black sack at the side of the bin that would get taken. When i asked what happens for the rest of the week they really couldnt care less. I enquired about purchasing an additional black bin and they said that was only available to families of 5 or more! Not really looking forward to the summer when i have 2 lots of nappies to put in the bin. I nearly pass out at the moment when bin day is looming.

Lupin, hope dd starts to feel better. I think there is a lot of it going around at the moment. J had a raging temperature on Thursday, luckily it only lasted the one day and has been full of beans since.

MN, glad the rash seems to be fading. Hope M had a good nights sleep, and you for that matter.

Jonah, I have several bits from New Looks Mat range, and i have to say that i am very pleased with them. I have 2 pairs of trousers and about 3/4 tops. Very comfy and wash quite well.

Anyone got any exciting plans for NYE? I personally cant stand it, and am pleased that i havent any plans. Dh and i are going to have a nice meal in and watch some of the dvd's we got for Christmas. Starting with, You, Me and Dupree. Might hit the shops again today, although i really should attack some of the boxes in the garage.

Have chosen the paint for both the kiddies bedrooms. J is having antique white on three walls and china blue on the wall behind his cot. Ella will have the antique white and a pale pink behind her cot. All we have to do now is sort the boxes in her room so that J can move in there whilst we are painting.

My New Years Resolution is to stop procrastinating and just get the jobs done! We have a lot to do, and only 17weeks and 4 days to get it done in!

Anyway, if you are still awake after reading that, i aplogise for mamouth post

LupinsBigLump · 31/12/2006 10:37

Thanks SM she seems fine now, just a bit chesty - she managed to walk round the park for an hour so cant be too bad, I am a great believer in fresh air

We actually had maggots in the bin in the summer, so disgusting, I have just filled a carrier bag with rubbish and dumped it in a public bin on the way to the park, it is total nightmare having bins done like this, ours were late anyway due to xmas and it is full again because they wont take anything extra dp says we should stop paying council tax dont see that that will achieve anything except a fine tho

I had a bit of a clothes sort out - just need to know what the flavour is now, have about 2 bags of 0-12 months girls stuff, no vests or sleepsuits tho, and tons of 2-4 years stuff but nothing in between, I will be frantically ebaying if its a blue one lol

Am back off to bed for a kip, house is tidy(ish) washing and drying are on, dog has been walked, dd clothed and fed, and its only half ten!!! Have a good day all xx

LetitShnowLetitShnowLetitShnow · 31/12/2006 12:32

Morning all!

First things first:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!

Sorry about the impromptu outburst.

Busy weekend thus far. Went into the city (walked three miles- very sore by the time I got there- that was a shock!) and met up with the ILs. Lovely FIL bought me some maternity clothes from Next and H&M as an early birthday present. Next had some lovely linen maternity trousers, but not in my size, grr.

Anyway, just wanted to say hello to all.

MKG- just scanned most recent posts. My pregnancy book says 'you might start leaking colostrum from your nipples around this point' so is totally normal. Not happened to me, but I have very, very, very, very sore nipples!

Must rush as DH is taking me out for lunch as IT'S MY BIRTHDAY.

Aherm.

Happy Nearly New Year. I won't be celebrating the NY as it's over-hyped twaddle but DH and I will snuggle under a duvet, watch films, eat icecream and enjoy our last NY as just me and him. Place bets here as to what time I crash out and snore. Baggsy 9pm.

MKG · 31/12/2006 13:12

OK,
I say everyone squeeze their nipples to find out. Dh was so proud when I showed him my new ability. Since my bump is almost non existent it's like proof that am pregnant.

My boobs don't hurt, but my nipples feel like they are going to fall off. I can't believe I have another 21 weeks of this.

MKG · 31/12/2006 13:12

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

MereNoel · 31/12/2006 14:13

Happy Birthday Letitshnow, hope you have a great day.

Squeezed MKG, nothing came out, you are the best text book person.

Lupin hope dd gets better soon, mine is still red and has become a limpet, but she's ok really.

Have 7 of us together for a dinner party tonight. Actually we are having a curry evening. All doing a bit for it though, so I haven't been lumbered with the whole lot. We are going to put all the kids to bed here at about 8pm, settle them and then have an adult evening, hoping it will be lovely, we are one of those groups of friends that never spend anytime together unless we have ankle bitters with us, so really looking forward to it. (wish I could get pissed though) After we have eaten we are going to play some of the old board games that we haven't played since we were kids. Have a few fireworks for new year. Remember me at 11pm your time, I'll be celebrating the new year already. We then do it all again an hour later. hehe
Everyone sleeping here so I wii try my hardest to get up and cook them all a nice cooked breakfast in the morning.

Hope those of you celebrating new year have a lovely time. And

HAPPY NEW YEAR

AbbyLou · 31/12/2006 14:32

Hello everyone, I have finally found the time and courage to come and post on this thread. I have been reading it for a week or so and feel I 'know' you all well enough to be brave and post!! I'm Abby, I'm 31 and expecting number 2 on 12th May. I have one ds already who has just turned 2 and he is Gorgeous - I couldn't ask for a better one! I have my scan on 3rd Jan like some others and I am very very nervous. I work full time as an infant school teacher, teaching a mixed Year1 and 2 class. Err, anything else? Don't know what I'm supposed to tell you all!! Hope to get to know some of you during the next 19 weeks!

Gingerbear · 31/12/2006 15:15

Hello AbbyLou. Welcome to the May gang. They are a talkative lot! I am due 23 May - also my second. I have a dd who is 4 and has started reception class this year. I tend to read but not post so much here as I have trouble keeping up with them all! My scan is due 5th January. 19 weeks!! is that all there is left to go??

AbbyLou · 31/12/2006 15:29

Thanks for the welcomes, it seems really friendly on here. We're staying in tonight too, we've got a coule of friends coming over but it will be fairly low key to be honest. Obviously I'm not drinking and dh is on call for work tonight and tomorrow so he can't have a drink either. Our friends will be getting pissed on their own I think. Happy New Year to everyone.

MKG · 31/12/2006 15:39

AbbyLou,

Welcome!! No I'm all about my nipple issues. Oh well I'll get over it.

Well everyone I made my cheesecake and my Thai chicken is in the slow cooker, so all I have to do is clean up (yeah right) and I'll be ready for New Year.
