thread #2 - TTC#1 Grads, sick bags at the ready!

We've finally got our BFPs and have started on the long winding road of pregnancy.

Most of us are starting, within, or just leaving the first trimester where bloating, unexplained discharge and constant nausea are watchwords of the day!

We're battling NHS inconsistencies, trying not to kill our midwives and desperately looking for a magic morning sickness cure... It's TTC#1 grads!!!

Also I've given up pruning the ol' bush. I got a bit snip happy the other day and pruned some skin ConfusedDH can deal with the 80's look!!

Your bump sounds impressive runner. I think a photo is in order!!

Chocaholic88 · 11/02/2016 07:14

pink it was on the 28th... by their notes I'm 8+4 but could be 10+4 if the original BFP'S were correct!

Runner05 · 11/02/2016 09:12

Lol, Bunch luckily I don't have a dog to fight over my pillow and OH hates it because he is a bed hog and the pillow prevents him from taking up the whole bed. Confused

Unfortunately my bump doesn't make me look pregnant, it just makes me look really, really fat!!!
I was a bit overweight when i got pregnant at already have a tummy despite losing nearly a stone in the past few weeks and for some reason my bloating has chosen to show itself in the form of an over inflated spare tyre. The end result is a massive hard pear shaped tummy sticking out a mile Confused

Woke up this morning and didn't feel sick. Woohoo!!! (I do now but that's not the point)

Morning ladies,

Runner That sounds promising with the sickness!

I'm bit nauseas again today and yesterday night.

What are people who are at work / commuting and feeling sick doing about breakfast? I'm struggling to find anything healthy to eat I can stomach so end up buying a pastry when I'm near work.

X

hgleslie89 · 11/02/2016 10:14

shelb If you've got access to a kettle/microwave I found porridge really helped. It's easy to digest and the slow release of energy kept nausea at bay for a couple of hours.

BunchOfBobs · 11/02/2016 10:55

Runner fx for a third day vom free.

Chocaholic88 · 11/02/2016 10:56

Finally got my scan date! 23rd Feb :)

Pinklily1 · 11/02/2016 11:44

Shelb, bagels have been my saviour. Not particularly healthy but relatively plain and easy to stomach.

Pinklily1 · 11/02/2016 11:45

Choc, we are scan date buddies!

Mileymoocow · 11/02/2016 12:08

I think I'm going to have to have me one of those pillows! They look super comfortable.

I have just noticed dry skin on my face and itchy ears. Interesting.

Mileymoocow · 11/02/2016 12:08

Oh and I'm living off oranges at the moment. They're the only things I can handle!

BunchOfBobs · 11/02/2016 12:13

Miley you sound like me a few weeks ago. Satsumas were my thing. I had super itchy ears, dr recommended e45 on your knuckle and rub in. Also have dry skin on my face. Thankfully the itching has massively subsided Smile

Chocaholic88 · 11/02/2016 12:18

Yay pink how exciting :)

miley I was like that when I was pregnant with my son... I was eating bags of them hahaha

Planeteer · 11/02/2016 12:20

Morning all. Slightly hilarious Drs appt this morning where they scratched their heads a lot and said 'errrm...no...we don't know how far along you are either'. Technically LMP is 26 Nov, which is less than helpful!! They reckon anywhere from 2-6 weeks, but are tending towards the early end and want to wait til March before referring me to a midwife. Having bloods next week to check HCG levels which might shed more light.

I know patience is a virtue, but March feels a long time away for just the initial referral. Hey ho. Will have to learn to sit tight!

Planeteer · 11/02/2016 12:25

Yay for scan date choc ! Really pleased for you (and for the rampant gamblers on the ttc thread who will be dying to hear how upduffed you are Smile)

Runner05 · 11/02/2016 12:33

Well I have actually got out of bed! (Please don't faint) and done productive stuff like take down shelves and fill holes in the wall. Granted I'm back in bed now exhausted and with the lump in my thought driving me mad but considering I haven't done anything productive for nearly 6 weeks I'm over the moon Grin

Shelb I rediscovered pop tarts this morning... This may not be good for what's left of my wast line! Wink

Morwenna1 · 11/02/2016 12:37

Hi all, how you all feeling today?! Can you stop writing so much please?! Wink

Pink Same thing happened with me at my booking appt, had the Doppler out but couldn't find anything. Then all is ok at the scan, so just repeating everyone else by saying don't worry over it!

So we've got two votes for a boy and two votes for a girl Grin That's fine by me as I just have no idea either way! And I don't mind either Grin

Ouch Bunch (skin pruning). I'm trying to keep myself presentable but I think I'll get to a point where I don't give a shit, probably when it's a lot more effort to see what I'm doing! My midwife told me that it would get more difficult to pee into the collection pots at each appt, I said (baby brain) "Why, do they get smaller?" (No idea why I thought that!) and she just said with a smile, "No, you've got to manoevre around the bump!"

I have itchy eyelids. I'm hoping it's just dry patches and not anything more annoying.

So glad there's light at the end of the vom tunnel Runner! Fx that it's going to subside for you. The thing in the throat thing doesn't great though!

I have a bump, but it's not really prominent yet. Can still hide it at work!

Planet Hopefully you'll be able to know a bit more from the blood tests. Confusing!

Co5mo I can't believe your community midwife was so unhelpful! Glad to hear you didn't have any bleeding, and I've had painful abdominal cramps in the early stages. (both sides, one side you name it) I think reading the description of ectopic pregnancies, you'd be in absolute agony and a&e would be the only option (so try not to worry about those).

IndiX · 11/02/2016 13:55

Hi ladies!
Have had the odd read through over the last few days. Congrats to newbies and glad some of you are getting over your nausea/morning sickness, hopefully!! To everyone still struggling with the exhaustion/sickness/itchiness etc have lots of rest and look after yourselves.
I have my first midwife appt on 23rd Feb choc, not as exciting as the scan but will get the ball rolling!
I have had no nausea or sickness yet at 5+2, fatigue however has hit me big time! Between 2-4pm I am DESPERATE for a sleep so just trying to nap where I can. Still going to the gym and doing the same as always however my gigantic, sore boobs are killing me as soon as I jump around/run..maybe I need a tighter sports bra or nipples pads!
Interesting to hear about the itchy skin as I had an itchy back throughout the 2ww and up until last week, didn't even realise it was a symptom!
Take care of yourselves lovely ladies X

Co5mo · 11/02/2016 14:20

Mor I was in absolute agony in the night. It was only at the point I asked DH to fetch me some clothes because I thought we were going to have to go to A&E that it started to ease up. I was unable to stand up with the pain, was sweating buckets and felt really faint. Still getting random cramps but no repeat performance of two nights ago thankfully. I'm finding moving round helps.

Shelb another vote for instant porridge. I buy sachets, all you need is a mug, kettle and hot water. I love Pop tarts but we're not allowed toasters in our building at work because they cause us to spend too much time waiting around for firemen!

Chocaholic88 · 11/02/2016 14:42

Yay indi be sure to let us know how the appointment goes :)

cosmo I had this at about 6 weeks pregnant but turned out to be a massive upset stomach - I got horrific sweats from the pain etc. I was utterly convinced I was going to lose my son... it was horrible. Have you had any dodgy toilet runs? (No pun intended lol!)

Co5mo · 11/02/2016 14:56

No I haven't Choc. It was really quite odd but thankfully nothing serious. GP gave me a clean bill of health. Just hope it doesn't happen again because it was quite scary at the time.

Chocaholic88 · 11/02/2016 15:02

Oh bless you :( it sounds really scary. I'm glad you've been given the all clear though!

Newmrs22 · 11/02/2016 18:38

So had my scan today. Meant to be 12+4 according to the dates they gave me at 9 week scan. Now I've got a 13+2 little bean!
All good. Hospital give DS results an hour later and that was v low risk so we are over the moon Grin

Pinklily1 · 11/02/2016 18:53

That's amazing New, such a clear picture too!

I'm secretly hoping they put me further on than I think I am!

For those who have the massively long maternity pillows, were they both from Amazon? I was thinking of getting one of the donut shaped ones you can use in bed but then use for nursing and prolong baby up later, but yours both look amazing, and if they help you sleep I think I need one!!

Laurenrl · 11/02/2016 19:03

Amazing new congratulations!! Such a lovely clear picture.

My first midwife appointment is 1st match at which point I will be 9+4! Bit late!
