Scared - hope you're ok. Remember you are in the best possible place . Hopefully you will get some rest- have the found a cause for the swelling and raised blood pressure ?

scaredmum2be · 12/02/2016 21:02

They haven't found the cause, so,e doctors keep telling it's pretty eclampsia and some keep saying its suspected so I'm really confused.
My calfs hurt to and they mentioned blood clots. For someone with health anxiety it's too much

sherazade · 12/02/2016 21:06

Maybe they need to take a few bloody pressure readings and urine samples over the next few hours to make a diagnosis of pre eclampsia, I think . So sorry you're having such a hard time of it but hang in there Flowers

sherazade · 12/02/2016 21:06

*blood pressure ! Sorry

maybebabybee · 12/02/2016 21:22

Scared I know you must be frightened but you are in the best possible place. If she did come now at 35 weeks she would be fine. Sending you lots of hugs.

ffauxlivia · 12/02/2016 21:24

suz do it!

scared so sorry you have so much to stress about, as sher says you really are in the best place and they have yours and your baby's safety as their priority. 35 weeks is honestly an excellent gestation especially if you have had steroids - just look at how well Zach's doing and he was born almost 3 months ago! Cervix checks only hurt for a few seconds and are better if you try and relax - easier said than done I know. Get someone to hold your hand and distract you. Focus on relaxing your jaw muscles and it apparently helps relax everything down there! Good luck, hang in there Flowers

marmiteandcheeseplease · 12/02/2016 21:26

Sorry to hear you're in hospital scared, sounds very scary/stressful but just remember you're in the best place. At 35 weeks your baby will most likely be fine. I know two women who gave birth early (at 32 and 34 weeks) and both babies fine. Someone in my yoga class had to have emergency c section at 31 weeks last week due to a rare complication and baby is doing well, breathing unaided already. So hang in there and have faith the doctors will do the best they can. Fx for you and sending you Flowers and Cake

So maternity leave starts today and already a colleague text me to ask if she could quickly ring me tomorrow to chat about something work/research related just one last time... Ffs! Not really a request I can say no to either and although it won't take much time its annoying me that she asked...

IndomitabIe · 12/02/2016 21:36

Hi Scared,
As everyone's said you're in the best place, and at 35 weeks if she's delivered tomorrow she'll most likely be absolutely fine. As will you!

I've finished for half term at last! A luxurious week off to rediscover the house under the grime but with an enormous pile of marking.

So, who's having a baby tomorrow? Is it ThePug? (Am I remembering right?)

Mondinomum2 · 12/02/2016 22:00

Hi Scared,
The odds are hugely in your favour and there's no need to panic. You're in the right place and you're female - so strong (whether you know it or not!). Even if baby is born this early, hospitals are totally set up for that now and they can provide baby everything they need once born. Birth in general is probably a bit scary for all of us. Look around you though - every single person you see has been born. Women are totally awesome and amazing to be able to do that. When the time comes, you will just cope. I promise :-) By the way - so what if you cried for injections? Cry, scream, sing, rap - do whatever you like - the hospital staff will have seen it all and you're going to end up with a beautiful baby. Good luck xx

marmiteandcheeseplease · 13/02/2016 05:38

Hope your night in hospital has been ok scared and that you get some answers soon Flowers

Another early wake up here, tossing and turning with tickly cough which is doing my head in (and my separated stomach muscles no favours). Nose started running which I assumed at first was just snot because I've been ridiculously congested at night then realised I was having a nosebleed. Had to wake DP up to help me - after getting me tissue he said he'd thought I was waking him up as in labour and was a bit disappointed haha.

After that I was wide awake so now led in bed in the dark with tissue stuffed up my nose. Oh the glamour of pregnancy...

MyNameIsSuz · 13/02/2016 07:43

As everyone else has said scared, you're in the best place. And 35 weeks isn't very early at all. Hope you managed to get some sleep.

I'm getting stomach pains on and off this morning, could this be Braxton hicks? I don't think I ever had them with ds. Doesn't feel like tightening just pains. Sorry if tmi but I had an upset stomach all evening yesterday so it could be related. I feel horrible Sad and it better not be labour, I'm not ready!!

marmiteandcheeseplease · 13/02/2016 07:50

suz doesn't sound like BH to me... Mine have felt quite painful at times but more like very mild period cramps than stomach ache. But generally my BH have felt like my whole stomach just goes solid. Very hard to explain! Could be early labour if your body is having a clear out? How many weeks are you now? Fx baby stays put for a bit! I wouldn't be ready to have my baby just yet (even at nearly 37 weeks) that's for sure, haven't even packed my hospital bag yet!

Good luck pug today! The next baby on the thread yay

MyNameIsSuz · 13/02/2016 07:55

Yikes marmite, I hope not! Bag isn't fully packed (job for today though) and the cot isn't up yet. And we don't have anywhere to put baby clothes yet. And the flat is a mess! I'm 36+2 so I know it realistically could be... I have no idea, it wasn't like this with ds - first sign I had there was my waters going, and when contractions started they were all in my back. Argh!

IndomitabIe · 13/02/2016 07:56

Hmm, interesting Suz. How many weeks are you?

My BHs feel like a generalised non-specific tingle, then when I check I find my bump goes hard.

Labour for me started (last time) as a definite lower back/cervix cramp, as opposed to anything going on with my uterus.

Could still be digestive upset though.

Sorry to hear about your cough, marmite. I'd imagine it is unreasonably unpleasant at this gestation. Take things easy.

docmcstuffins1 · 13/02/2016 08:01

Ooh how exciting Suz, fingers crossed for you. keep us updated!

Sorry to here about your bad night Marmite, I did have a chuckle at your DH being disappointed you weren't in labour though!

Scared my heart goes out to you, at least you are in the right place and getting looked after. Hope you got some rest. Even if your baby came now I'm sure she'd be fine. Stay strong!

Good luck Pug. It really is getting real for a lot of us now isn't it. How terrifying exciting!

TriJo · 13/02/2016 08:34

CSC checking in... up at 5:30 to pee and never got back asleep properly after that. Grr.

MyNameIsSuz · 13/02/2016 08:51

Oh god, don't sound like you all think it's labour! Have just packed a little case for ds to take to granny's, bagged up the recycling to take downstairs and cleaned the skirting boards in the hallway (not mad, have been meaning to for ages as I keep noticing they're filthy and I know it'll drive me nuts). Then when dh gets up I'll pack my bag and have a bath, then clean bathroom and kitchen and Hoover around. He can move the bed and build the cot (I have the sleepyhead to put it in if it suddenly appears before then). I don't think this is it, and if it's not at least I'll have got a lot ticked off my list today - the kick up the bum I need I think!

Is pug being induced today? How exciting, good luck!!!

Sorry about the crap sleep marmite and trijo, I woke up a couple of times but nothing too bad. I meant to say yesterday trijo, don't cut all your hair off now if it'll be the kind of cut you need to bother to style (if you'll need to straighten your fringe or blow dry in a certain way etc). if you don't get time to do it some days I think it's much easier to look presentable with longer hair whacked up into a ponytail than unstyled short cut! Others may disagree Grin

scaredmum2be · 13/02/2016 10:13

Morning all.
Didn't get much sleep I. Here. Six toilet breaks and woken twice for blood pressure plus tossed not and turned four hour shift so well. Major headache today but I know it's from lack of sleep but the doctors won't believe me haha.
Highest blood pressure went last night is 140/70 and lowest it went was 110/56 at 2am. Which is normal just the 140 is slightly high.
Bloods from yesterday slightly abnormal, loads of protein in urine and my reflexes are slightly off as well. Waiting to see doctor to discuss where to go from here. I just want to go home though.
35 weeks today and had second steroid shot this morning. Wow their a bit stingy I hope the epidural is less stingy dreading it now if I need it.
I asked what would happen if baby came at 35 weeks and they said that she would most likely be fine but may need some assistance at first. She said babies start developing their sucking reflux at 35 weeks so each day she stays in the more chance she will feed without a tube. She said the main problems are feeding and body temp control at my gestation. I desperately want to hold until 37 weeks though. Had a ctg this morning and they said baby is still very happy in the womb at the moment. And growth scan shows she is still growing and hasn't stalled which is good. So baby is well it's just me.

Missi- I have some true admiration for you right now. I can't imagine how terrified you where as little Zach was born at 25 weeks. I thought about you last night and you really a an inspiration.

Sorry for everyone who has had crap sleep last night, hope today is not too bad.

Suz- I thought it was quite common to get pains weeks before labour started? How many weeks are you.
Thanks everyone for the support btw

Me624 · 13/02/2016 10:43

scared sorry you didn't sleep well but it's great that the baby is doing fine and hopefully you will be able to go home and keep her inside for a bit longer.

Suz keep us updated!

I had a horrible night, up between 1.30 and 3.30 with the most awful heartburn, nothing would shift it! My own fault for filling up on cinema snacks last night - I don't think too much popcorn agrees with me even when I'm not pregnant!

Having been improved for weeks my pelvic pain is back with a vengeance these past few days. I think it's because I haven't been doing my Pilates exercises as regularly as I should have been - so I've just done a 30 minute workout this morning! Hopefully that should sort me out a bit.

scaredmum2be · 13/02/2016 11:05

I just spoke to doctor. Have to go on blood pressure tablets. Grr. I really don't think it's that high but I know they know best. Midwife told doctor i was 35 weeks today and I'd had steroids which he said is great as if baby did need to come she has a great chance of being ok on her own.
Staying for another 24-48 hours so they can monitor my blood pressure.
Quite scary that I could meet her soon. Full term baby looks tiny to me so I can't imagine how fragile she will look. Estimated 5 pounds 7 ounces on Wednesday which is 50th percentile. Oh will be sent out for tiny baby clothes if she does come haha. Sil said she would have me stay with her until we settled in our new place because of the damp in our current flat. With baby being prem I don't want her going back their. Terrified of induction but oh mum has said she would be their for me as me and my mum don't speak and I really want her to be for extra support.

Me- sorry about the heartburn I had a touch last night until I remembered I had rennies in my bag. That cured it.

MyNameIsSuz · 13/02/2016 11:48

5lb7 sounds like a good weight scared, and probably wouldn't look much smaller than a baby a pound heavier like mine was. It sounds like you've got lots of support from your oh's family too.

I've had bad heartburn in the night too, that's what's waking me up. Horrible!

Pretty sure I'm not in labour, still a bit achey but don't feel very laboury. Had a lovely long hot bath and am slowly getting jobs done. Off out for dinner tonight with sil and a friend, hooray.

MrsBenWyatt · 13/02/2016 13:04

Scared The blood pressure tables might do the trick and let baby stay in longer. I had to have them in my first pregnancy at around the same gestation as you are now and they did reduce my BP. They didn't induce until my due date and DD was fine. Only issue was we had to stay another night for blood sugar tests (heel pricks) on the baby because the medication (are you having labetalol?) can cause sugars to be low and they will be keen for baby to feed quite early.

Fingers crossed all is well Flowers

scaredmum2be · 13/02/2016 13:13

Thanks everyone,
In a way it's quite exciting baby could be hear soon. Just terrified I won't hear her cry when she comes out. I know she'll be ok though and I'm so grateful to of made it this far as it could of been a lot worse.
Had labetatol an hour ago and blood pressure was 140/88 before and it was 140/86 just now so doctor has gone to see her senior to see if they can try anything else. They say as its only borderline at the moment it's still ok but they want to make sure.
Terrified of cervix check in a bit though, they want to see how soft etc it is. Never had anything like this before. Baby is very active today. Keep feeling her push her bum out towards me. She's clearly not being affected in their which is good.
Hope pug is ok she's been induced today right?
Suz hope your heartburn is ok today.

IndomitabIe · 13/02/2016 14:07

You sound much more positive scared. Hope the meds work and you can get back to your original plans.

Sorry to hear about people's crap sleeps. What is it with the sudden increase of heartburn?

DH is off for a stag do tomorrow and Monday. I'm so tired, I don't want to entertain a 4yo by myself! I reckon we'll hit up some soft play tomorrow and hope it's dry on Monday for our local NT cafe place. Any other suggestions?

magpiedreams · 13/02/2016 14:48

scared you sound like your handling all this very well indeed! Hope the hospital stay isn't too long for you and the meds do the trick. Thinking of you.

indom my DH is away Monday to Wednesday and it's half term so I have 5 and 3 year olds to entertain solo. So far, I am making sure he has taken them out today, taken up 2 friends offers of play dates with lunch and booked us in for a kids cinema morning - lots of cinemas have children's films around 10am for about £2-3 in the holidays so maybe that for Monday morning? Am thinking I can rest/snooze while they eat supermarket-smuggled-in-popcorn and enjoy a mediocre cartoon film!

Good luck pug whatever is happening...
