Thanks MrsB Smile

Welcome to the maternity leave club Marmite! Am off to have lunch today with my colleagues so will see how they've been getting on in my absence.

Random question but has anyone had a blocked nose during pregnancy? Mine has been stuffed up in the morning since about 20 weeks and I get green snot (sorry!!!).

Me624 · 12/02/2016 07:31

maybe I've been really stuffed up and snotty too, not for quite as long as you but maybe for the last 6 weeks or so. It's annoying!

Hope your last day goes well marmite! I can't wait to join you next Friday! I am lying in bed right now thinking why did I not start mine today too ...

MrsElls · 12/02/2016 08:22

I was going to start my mat leave today but changed it to next Friday a few weeks ago when it became very clear I wasn't going to get everything done, I'm not going to get everything done by next Friday either and there's still no cover for me so I'm wondering while I bothered now!

RhubarbAndMustard · 12/02/2016 08:23

Happy last day marmite!

Maybe yep, very snotty here too, but dry rather than runny (def TMI!). Although I am finding it quite a satisfying nose blow. Smile

Feeling very emotional today and have read/googled that there is a 36 week emotional wreck stage. I've hit it! Woke up and had a good cry, just caught up on Eastenders and cried again ( nothing happened in EE to warrant said tears!). Am now lying on the sofa wondering if I should risk watching Britains Next Top Model.

Me624 · 12/02/2016 08:31

Oh and I meant to say - I'm 37 weeks today! Yay, made it to term!

maybebabybee · 12/02/2016 08:34

Ooh, congrats on being full term me!!

Glad it's not just me being snotty!!

Forgot to say I had my growth scan yesterday. Baby allegedly weighing 6lbs 6oz but not setting too much store by that! All else looks OK except they couldn't get a good look at his kidneys and then freaked me out by saying there could be a problem but not to worry as they got a good look at my 20 week scan and any issues would have been flagged then. Then they sent me on my way. Obviously I am now worrying as how will I know if something's wrong with baby's kidneys when he gets here?!

docmcstuffins1 · 12/02/2016 09:04

I'm 37 weeks today too, full term, crikey Shock

Maybe, MrsBen is right about normal ranges not being normal in pregnancy. Don't worry!

Another one here with a blocked nose, apparently it's another annoying pregnancy thing. Something to do with hormones released by the placenta affecting the mucous membranes in your nose!

No stretch marks here either (surprisingly as my bump is massive) or linea nigra either. Belly button is still an inny (just) and baby is back to my right so definitely not a definite sign of back to back.

Got a days holiday from work today so still lounging in bed. Only 3 half days to go and then I'm finished, cannot wait to join the maternity leave club!

vroc81 · 12/02/2016 09:26

Yay! Marmite enjoy your last day!! I've snuck a final work meeting in 5 days before my EDD... keep hoping that means she will appear early but maybe not! But I feel fine so I am just keeping working at the moment, with someone cc-ed into just about every email I send!!!

Congratulations on all those hitting 37 weeks! Come on ladies time some babies started appearing now they're cooked!!

QforCucumber · 12/02/2016 09:35

Morning All! what a week, been so busy at work closing everything off, replacement was due to come in Wednesday for a handover but shes gone on Holiday and won't be starting until Tuesday so I won't actually meet her (didn't mention it in her interview though so people already raising eyebrows about her)

I'm joining in the emotional wreck club - been having weird breakdowns about how I don't think DP likes me anymore etc and he keeps looking at me blankly wondering where it's all come from Confused

I have told bump it's allowed to arrive anytime after next Thursday so I hope it listens, happy for an end Feb baby but new bed and dishwasher arriving Monday, midwife appt Tuesday and need to clean the house then lunch with the girls on Wednesday - once those are over with baby is more than welcome to make an appearance Smile

Since I've just caught up on about 6 days worth of thread I have no idea who has put what where so I vastly apologise for my ignorance, hope everyone is as well as they can be and that sleep is not so much of a rarity anymore!

Congratulations to every who's full term today! Hope your babies don't keep you waiting too long!

Maybe I hope there isn't anything wrong! I'm sure they would have taken you in for more tests if they thought there could be a problem though.

Oh dear Q I hope she manages to get everything sorted when does officially start. Doesn't sound promising so far does it! At least you won't be there to see it lol ;)

Had my consultant appointment this morning. Consultant was different to my usual one. Said HE didn't see any need to induce me until 12 days past my due date. He said babies head might be too big for my pelvis but that they won't be able to tell that for sure until I start having proper contractions. They will monitor me when I go into labour and if his head isn't engaging or looks too big they will take me down for a c-section. He also said they will fit me with a cannula as soon as I go in so it will be in place for a blood transfusion after (a I lost a lot of blood before), and that they will also administer something else as soon as I go in to help reduce the blood loss? I couldn't understand his accent very well Blush. They're booking me in for a sweep at 39 and 40 weeks to try and avoid going overdue, but I had sweeps on those dates with DS1 and they did nothing. Settling in for the long term now. Convinced that baby 2 will be just like his brother and stay put for as long as possible til I'm taken in to be induced. Have bought raspberry leaf tea and am going to start that today regularly just in case there is any truth in it. If anyone knows any tips for not going overdue I'd gladly welcome them! As it is I'm gearing myself up to be the last one waddling standing here waiting for my baby. Huff!!

QforCucumber · 12/02/2016 12:52

Just had a cry at work - been given £250 in mamas and papas vouchers from my colleagues, Just can't believe how generous they really are!

Definite emotional wreck!

Me624 · 12/02/2016 13:16

That's lovely Q. I have a feeling I will be emotional this time next week too on my last day, I have a really lovely team and they've been so supportive throughout my pregnancy.

hayley it's good that the consultant doesn't think you need to be induced. Early preparation for a possible c-section sounds like a good plan but hopefully you'll be able to get this one out by yourself just like you did last time!

sherazade · 12/02/2016 14:13

Hayley - bear in mind that raspberry leaf tea had no impact on WHEN you deliver ( doesn't help you come earlier/ prevent you going overdue / induce labour ) it just makes your contractions more effecient and apparently helps shorten the pushing stage .
Congrats on everyone who is full term .
So exhausted and don't know why .

Paperblank · 12/02/2016 14:57

Bought my Raspberry Leaf Tea today Smile and treated myself to a Blow Dry! I've got lovely shiny bouncy hair and although I look like a bag of crap I feel human again!

I'm wondering if I can squeeze in another one before Baby Day!

QforCucumber · 12/02/2016 15:36

paper glad you feel good, getting my hair done in an hour and hoping for similar results.
36 week appt done and booked in for a sweep 2 weeks today - getting very close now it seems.

MrsBenWyatt · 12/02/2016 15:50

DH and I have booked a spa weekend for 27th February (section on 2nd March). Thoughts are that it will be a nice treat before delivery or DC3 will be here by then! Either way, we are on to a winner!

docmcstuffins1 · 12/02/2016 15:53

That sound lovely MrsBen

I've taken inspiration from Paper and Q and booked a cut and blow dry for next week to celebrate the start of my maternity leave.

TriJo · 12/02/2016 16:17

I'm going to book myself a cut and blowdry for the first week in March for similar reasons. Hair needs a tidy anyway, tempted to go back to a pixie cut just out of laziness.

Expectantrobot · 12/02/2016 16:47

So exciting that people are getting dates for inductions / c-sections... must be nice to know when to expect baby's arrival. I'm finding it odd to think there's basically a 5 week window (37 wks to 42 wks) where it would be perfectly normal for baby to make an appearance.

Day two of maternity leave for me today. Nice to be finding time to nap, drink raspberry leaf tea and go swimming. Feel like I can just focus on the baby (and me) rather than having to worry about work as well.

On the stretch mark front, I found my first one last weekend, on the underside of my bump so might have been there for a while as not so visible without craning to look for it. Have been slathering myself in oils and lotions so either they don't work or I was missing that part of my bump. Did feel a bit sad about it to be honest and then about an hour later my DH pointed out he could see a few grey hairs on my head. Cue a few tears and I suspect he just won't say anything in future...

Question for everyone about babies sleeping - I know they are supposed to be sleep in the same room as you until 6 months, even when napping. I live in quite a long flat (i.e. sitting room at one end, long hall way, kitchen/dining room at the other end) and tend to roam from room to room a lot. If the baby's napping do I literally need to cart it around the flat with me all the time, or should it be fine a few rooms away for periods of time? Also, when you put them down in the evening, should that be in the bedroom, ready for when you then go to bed, or do you put them down in the room you'll spend the evening in and then transfer them to the bedroom when you go to bed?

Probably overthinking this as control-freak-first-time-mum, but good news is the crib we bought is on wheels, so currently visualising myself wheeling baby around the flat like some kind of trolley!

RhubarbAndMustard · 12/02/2016 19:10

Hi Expectant. We lived in a flat with DS. I used to put him in a Moses basket ( it took a few weeks to get him in a basket though) in the lounge during the day and then transfer it to the bedroom when we went to bed. When a bit older we'd just put him straight to sleep in the crib in our room and join him later. He went into his own room in the cot at 4.5 months and he slept so much better than in with us. We never needed a monitor as he was so close I could still hear him from our room. From then on he had his naps either in his room, on our bed (and then I'd creep out when asleep) or in the car.

ffauxlivia · 12/02/2016 19:44

robot we have exactly the same set up in our flat and I have been wondering this too! Have been told not to bother with a Moses Basket but now I'm worried about waking baby when transferring from her napping place in the front room to the bedside crib Confused

After my breakfast meltdown yesterday I had an evening meltdown when I spilled tea over some thank you cards I was writing and decided I was failing at everything. DH finally twigged that I needed some proper support. He thinks I'm putting too much pressure on myself for everything to be perfect (welcome to motherhood, hey?) and did his best to reassure me that everything will be okay with baby and I will be a good mum. Feel much better today, and had a positive 34 week appointment this morning.

maybe I've been snotty/stuffy since about 20 weeks, and (tmi) it's always bloody too! It's a combination of a very dry winter climate here and preggo hormones - totally normal!
And also I'm sure if they had been really worried about the kidneys they would have asked you back. Do you have another growth scan scheduled? Otherwise you could mention it at the hospital after birth in case there's any quick checks they can do. I'm sure everything will be fine!

Oh how lovely Q!

Spas sound lovely - my friend sent me a prenatal massage voucher so can't wait to use that.

Also plan on some new hair colour before baby comes - last time I had some rose gold/blush colour put in and it only last about 2 weeks but looked funky and fab - kind of like the idea of having half decent hair in early baby pics, and to show her in the future that I wasn't too decrepit at 35 :)

ffauxlivia · 12/02/2016 19:44

cot, I mean cot! Bloody Americanisms creeping in - I've been here too long!

MyNameIsSuz · 12/02/2016 20:10

We're in a flat too and I never carted ds around when asleep. That said, he never really napped at home unless it was on me after a feed! We had a Moses basket but it just lived in the bedroom and he hated it, I occasionally got him to sleep on his playmat and left him there while I went to the kitchen or whatever, I can't imagine how you wouldn't nip in and out. Don't buy a Moses basket specifically so you can move the baby around with you - that might wake it up anyway, or it might not want to nap in there, it might fall asleep on you and wake up when you try to put it down etc. I'm planning to let this one sleep where it wants and just make sure I'm nearby, it's not a very big flat so I won't be far.

I'm having similar thoughts ffaux, I definitely want to get my hair cut as I might not get a chance once the baby's here (if it's as attached to the boob as ds was) and I'd toyed with the idea of getting my eyelashes dyed so I look acceptable after the birth before I get a chance to put any makeup on!

scaredmum2be · 12/02/2016 20:53

Evening everyone. Being kept in hospital tonight as had another blood pressure check today and it's still high so having overnight monitoring. Protein in urine has increased a lot and had steroid injections to help babies lungs if she has to come. I. Only 35 weeks tomorrow and terrified for her life. Had a scan and ctg and she's fine and still growing. My legs are swollen and hands and I feel quite scared. Induction/c section terrifies me. I cried during the steroid injection but midwife was so lovely. They want to check my cervix and I'm scared it'll hurt loads.
