Wearing my lazy lump badge here too. Got a friend and her baby coming for lunch and I need to tidy the kitchen - it's not that bad but it is looking a bit mucky round the edges.

I have the worst kitchen floor...it can be swept, mopped and lovely one minute and the next it looks like it's never been cleaned.

Need to get my butt in gear and take the washing upstairs!

I've finally succumbed to the Rennie's! Indigestion last night was awful and was kept awake with a burning, acidy throat. Had to sleep upright for most of the night. Maybe this baby will have lots of hair!

I'm definitely not brave enough to weigh myself! I'll worry about losing it after baby is born. For now, bring on the Cake..swiftly followed by a Rennie.

scared You really are going through it. Try to keep calm and remember that there is only a few weeks left now. You can do this. Try to eat though as baby needs the food too.

Hayley how did your scan go today?

I'm another oldie! Will be 36 this month. I definitely feel more achy in this pregnancy but not sure if that's my age or not.

vroc81 · 09/02/2016 15:57

Scared sorry you are having a rubbish time, hope today has gone a little better.. My blood pressure had a blip for about 3 weeks and its gone back down again but they seemed to be on top of keeping an eye on everything as they are with you so hopefully that helps reassure you.

I was weighed at my 36 week appointment - for drugs apparently so you might have to cover your eyes and get the MW to write it down if thats the case rhubarb..

I am taking off a fair bit of annual leave now and actually would quite like to be at home not doing a lot, I spent quite a lot of yesterday on the sofa.... I got short shrift from someone earlier when I expressed my opinion about something in my team while I am off that I wasn't here so it wasn't my opinion to have... I did wonder why I was working up to the end so hard!

Another oldie at 35 this year... its gone some way from when I was born and my mum had high risk old lady or words very similar to that written all over her notes at 30...

scaredmum2be · 09/02/2016 16:07

Thanks,
Baby moving now so haven't phoned triage. They said they would phone today if any issues with my urine and they haven't so assume all is fine.
Just scared as baby may not be ok being born even at 34+3.
I'm scared how this will impact her. I just want her to be ok.
Terrified of c-section/induction and keep looking at my birth ball like its a waste of time now.m
Met nan for lunch but on sofa now but bloody restless legs I can't relax anyway.
Scan tommorow and bp check.

Rhubarb- hope the indigestion calms down soon, it's horrible

hayleycookie · 09/02/2016 16:54

Rhubarb On the way back from it now. Jesus christ he weighs.......drum roll.....7lb 3oz!!!!!! He was 5lb 14oz two weeks ago! I have a consultant appointment on Friday to discuss it but the sonographer said he's more or less averaging out on his centile so she doesn't think I'll need any more growth scans between now and birth. Shocked to say the least!

Haven't weighed myself either and not planning on until a month or so after the birth.

I swear Rennie are going to be earning a fortune off of us on here!

Just coming up to my street so will log back on later for a proper catch up!

IndomitabIe · 09/02/2016 18:27

DON'T PANIC ABOUT THE WATER/BIRTHS!
A water birth won't make you more likely to tear, it just means that in the unlikely event that you do tear, it might be a bit more of a challenge to repair.

I think for those who haven't had a tear before, there's no concern at all. This is only something that's been raised because I've already had a tear (a 3rd degree tear, but it was no big deal, honestly). And even then they've said it's unlikely to happen again wizard's sleeve.

Honestly, don't worry. Just try not to zoom your baby out at the last minute like I did! (And that was about 5 hours after getting out of the pool, btw, so it had dried out by then!)

Let's hope so, Trinpy!

Oh no, scared. I hope you managed to find some calm today and felt better. I think you might have been right that being unoccupied is making your anxieties worse.

Hayley those weight estimates should be taken with a pinch of salt. But well done you and your placenta for such efficient growth!

I've run out of Rennies, good job the Tesco delivery is coming tonight.

I've been listening to a Woman's Hour podcast on my commute today where they've talked entirely about breastfeeding. I thoroughly recommend it - they've talked about the issues surrounding breastfeeding and the issues with the current/previous guidelines/advice and with the (lack of) training for midwives. Really, really well done and very interesting. (They won't make you feel guilty for not breastfeeding, for example).

It made me think though - even though it all went to plan last time, I think I better do some reading/research.

dobbythedoggy · 09/02/2016 19:26

Dd has hidden my rennies! Currently not so dh left them on the kitchen side when he unpacked the shopping where she can reach and she's taken all 72 out of the box and "hidden them safe mummy". I know they are under something low down, that's where she hides things, but physically there is no way I can crawl around looking under the kitchen units, bed, sofas etc. Dh will be when he gets home. Just glad I know she hasn't eatten them as they are just for mummy and she has her chocolate coins and she hates anything minty.

Had a some what productive day, but for some reason most of the house looks like a bomb has hit it. Washed all my big black knickers from when I had dd, amazed I didn't have to throw out a single pair last time. (Helping the wash my dad's post surgery things meant everyone was a lot less squimish about a bit of blood.) Defrosted the frezzer in preperation for a batch cooking next week. Organised the pile of paper work that's been sat on the table for far too long. Got all my clean beautiful slings ready to be ironed when dh unburries the ironing board. Found a unit for bump's clothes and given it a good scrub. And done a shop to get us through the next few days.

Dd keeps telling me I'm a better mummy than flop!

Me624 · 09/02/2016 19:42

Phew, at 36+4 and with 8 working days to go until my mat leave I have just put in an 11 hour day with no lunch break Shock work don't realise how lucky they are to have me! Well actually they do, my boss has been very sweet and kept checking I was ok and has now sent me home in a taxi so I don't have to wait in the cold and rain for a bus.

DH is making pancakes when I get home, hooray! Has everyone else had them today?

Goodness hayley what a whopper you are cooking in there! But as others have said I have heard the estimates are notoriously inaccurate.

scared glad you've felt some movement now. It's a worrying enough time anyway and you really have been through the mill. Try it to think about still birth, the risk is so so small.

IndomitabIe · 09/02/2016 20:02

You legend, Me! But maybe that's the last one for a while?!

I've gone down a breastfeeding rabbit hole. The lactation consultant on the Radio 4 programme was Clare Byam-Cook. . I'm going to look up her book...!

IndomitabIe · 09/02/2016 20:43

So, googling the woman up, there's a lot of hatred for her on mn! Ach, I was just pleased to hear something different to the usual advice. I've got something else to try, at least!

MyNameIsSuz · 09/02/2016 21:05

Good researching indomitable! I breastfed ds to 14 months but it was really tough going at the start and I am desperate to get off on a better foot this time.

I've packed the baby's hospital bag Smile Haven't done mine, mind, but I'm feeling quite a bit more ready now.

That's pretty good going me, and 8 days isn't much. I have 7! And I'm working from home on Thursday as I have a midwife appointment, so pretty much 6. Shit's getting real.

IndomitabIe · 09/02/2016 21:31

Sorry, me again.
So I added Always Discreet Pants to my Tesco order thinking they might be good for post-birth (had seen people talking about tena pants). I can't remember why the tena pants didn't entice me (I spent some time in waitrose comparing the pics on the packets), but I somehow decided the always ones looked better.

I can confirm, they are a good size, and most importantly they have a MASSIVE GUSSET (about 5 inches wide) that looks like it'll do the trick brilliantly! (Last time, post-tear, I found the massive maternity pads were good and thick but were too narrow, especially with a catheter tube moving everything around. These look more up to that kind of job!)

And they seem like they won't be scratchy or scrunchy like the disposable pants you can buy

I know people say just to buy cheap big pants, but seriously, there are none with a gusset that big (and you'd have to put multiple maternity pads in side by side!)

scaredmum2be · 10/02/2016 00:56

I have five days left at work now.
Went to bed at 11 just got up as can't sleep. My legs are so restless. Seriously I've had this every evening/night since the first week of December now. Theirs only so much I can take of this before I crack. It's all too much for me. I just want it all to end. I'm so tired of this and it wouldn't surprise me if all this stress is what's sending my bp to creep up.

Me- that sounds really tiring. Hope you are getting some rest tonight and everyone else is.

Hopefully I'll fall asleep from exhaustion to but even when I do it'll only last 30 minutes- 1 hour before I need a damn wee lol.

MrsBenWyatt · 10/02/2016 03:39

Can I have a CSC badge please? I am in the bath as my back hurts so much I can't sleep Hmm

TheMshipIsBack · 10/02/2016 06:25

Aww MrsBen, that sucks, I hope the bath helped. scared, did you get any rest? I'm a fully paid up CSC member this morning. DS had a diarrhea poo in his night time pull up around 1230 just after I'd finally dropped off, and although he was able to sleep again till 5 after I cleaned up, I was paranoid about either him or me getting sick and sat up dozing in his room. Now we're all awake, DS is cranky but ok with Disney, he'll stay home all day with me and I'll be hoping desperately for a nap.

Missikat · 10/02/2016 06:34

Morning, joining the CSC but thankfully now it's due to feeding my little man and not heartburn or backache! In the hospital for hopefully the last night before Zach comes home, please all keep your fingers crossed his eye scan goes ok today and shows the surgery last week has worked as that's all that's keeping us here.

Scared, really hope you managed to get some sleep tonight. You really are on the home straight now. I hope your BP comes down and that it's nothing more ominous like pre-e. Rest assured though, the drs will be keeping a close eye on you and will not let anything happen. If baby did decide to come soon (which I'm sure it won't) then she round be fine. There have been two ladies in low dependency with me this last couple of weeks, one had her baby at 33 weeks, she was in for a week and has just gone home, no issues, the other ladies baby was born at 32+1, she's been in 3 weeks and will be going home on Thursday. None of them have any issues. At 34 weeks depending on babies size they may not even go to neonatal snd may just stay on the ward.

Me, that is a mammoth day for so late in pregnancy, I'm glad your boss was appreciative. Also a while back I think you asked about Zach's weight and why he's still so small when you guys have 5,6 or even 7lbers (Hayley!). It's not a stupid question, it's just that an
Incubator is no where near as good as growing babies as the womb. They have to use a lot of their energy to heal/keep warm etc which then isn't used for growing. Also although breast milk is perfectly designed to make a term baby grow beautifully it doesn't have as many calories if nutrients as we give our babies in the last trimester of pregnancy when they really pile on the pounds. The dietician here said that this last period of pregnancy the growth is so many times more rapid than at any point in the human life cycle, so much more so than even from newborn to toddler. I imagine Zach was probably meant to be an 8lb+ baby like his brother but at 40 weeks will probably only be around 4.5-5lb instead.

Indom, your descriptions of the large gusset requirements post birth have been creasing me up!

Does anyone have tips for getting wind up? I can hear it bubbling around inside Zach and he pukes after every feed like his big brother did but hardly ever burps. I don't know how to get it out. I try the sitting up chin in hand position/over the shoulder position/rubbing/patting/slapping and nothing seems to work!

Missikat · 10/02/2016 06:37

And Dobby your rennie hiding DD did make me laugh (sorry!). I hope DH has managed to locate them for you.

IndomitabIe · 10/02/2016 06:48

Morning all,
Hope they release Zachary today, Missi!

And Dobby, you're not far from me I think. I'll share my Rennies if need be!

2 more wake-ups till half term Grin

Me624 · 10/02/2016 06:52

Eek Missi that's so exciting that he should be able to go home! Keeping everything crossed for you for the eye scan. That makes a lot of sense about the weight, I think the rest of our babies are packing on half a pound a week in fat at the moment which does sound like very rapid growth!

MShip hope you and DS get a nap today to make up for last night! And hope you dropped off too scared and your bath helped MrsBen.

I haven't bought any tena pants or anything, just huge knickers from Primark and big thick maternity pads - will that be ok?

My breathing doesn't feel quite so laboured last night and today - hoping this means baby me is starting to engage!

MyNameIsSuz · 10/02/2016 06:52

Joining the csc here, and it's all DH's fault Sad He came in just after I dropped off, had a go at me about the cat, then put all the lights on for like an hour. I got up to try and sleep on the sofa and he had a go at me for that too. Then he went to sleep and I was left uncomfortable and wide awake, angry about how late it was and how soon my alarm was going to go off. Woke up to the worst leg cramp I've ever had. I really don't want to go to work!!!

Great news about Zach missi, fingers crossed here for his eye scan. No tips for wind I'm afraid, ds was refluxy and everything we did ended in sick too.

MyNameIsSuz · 10/02/2016 06:55

Big pants and pads will be fine me. My top tip is two pairs of pants! Holds everything on a bit tighter. And black yoga pants for the first few days, feels like jammies but looks like you're dressed, a winner.

dobbythedoggy · 10/02/2016 09:11

missi hope that zack's eye scan goes well and that you're able to take him home today.

Did you ever discover 'tiger in a tree' with ds1? Basically draping them over your arm, chin in your hand and rubbing and patting their back. Making it sound really complicated but it's not. Worked a treat with most babies I encountered in the nursery. With one little one we used to stop every 30-40 seconds during a feed to burp them. And my manager used to swear by a drop of cooled boiled water to help bring up trapped wind, litterally a drop from the tip of the finger or bottle teat dipped in it. With dd I always found she brought up wind better/quicker if I was doing the bouncy walk around rather than sat or stood still. The go to trick with her was to put her in the sling and gentily bounce to tighten it with an arm across her bum and the same hand cupping her head. I think the tucked up position put just the right presure in the right places.

Dh hunted for ages for my rennies and is picking more up on his was home from work this morning. But since bringing her down for breakfast dd has presented me with mummy's medicen from her doctor's bag. Makes perfect sence when you think about it... although did mean I joined CSC last night.

me I never had any trouble with big pants and pads although did spend the first 14 or so hours after c section in bed immobile on a serris of big obsorbant mats.

indom I could cry remembering it's half term next week. All the groups I take dd to stop and everywhere to go locally will likely be crazzy busy with kids of school and tourists... we're planning to meet up with varrious friends but with the wet weather likely to continue we're all going to miss the space groups offer.

Oh if it's not to far for you or too uncomfortable to travle. Would your ds like a wildlife and dinosaur park? My mum and dad are taking dd to the locals event which is either the last weekend in feb or first in march, just thinking you'd probably qualify as a local too. £5 entry instead of £13.

scaredmum2be · 10/02/2016 10:43

Morning all.
Finally collapsed with exhaustion about 2:30am but was up half an hour later needing to wee then my legs started again. Didn't hear oh leave at seven so must of fell asleep and woke at 10. Shattered now and my legs are still restless so I can't even sit on the sofa. Been pacing and stretching them but the second I sit again they are back to tingling and crawling. Dreading being hospitalised for pre eclampsia as my legs will make it torture. I've read stories where this doesn't go after birth and I'm terrified I'll be left with it.

Hospital at 1:30 for bp check and growth scan, terrified. I'm so stressed its not going to help my bp is it. I'm 35 weeks on Saturday and hoping baby Stays put as close to due date as possible. I feel like such a bad mum. All the stress Im under and now my stupid body might not even be able to look after her until it needs to. We are moving on the 21st as well . Baby can't live here as the damp is so bad so I would have to to mil or sil for a bit. We still need to buy new mattresses for Moses basket and cot as we have a hand me down one from sil. Depends on today but may need to get hospital bag together.

Work tommorow too. Boo.

Missi- fingers crossed for Zach, do let us know how it goes.

Here's to everyone getting a better night tonight and hope everyone is ok x

RhubarbAndMustard · 10/02/2016 10:57

Missi good luck for Zach's eye scan today. It will be so wonderful for you to finally bring him home so keeping everything crossed for you.

Sorry for everyone's bad nights, but impressed by MrsBen's 3:30am bath! Hope it helped.

Had my consultant appt today and he agrees that C section would be safest for baby and its all booked in. So scarily I now know that baby will be with me by 3rd March - eek! Although I know it is the best option, I'm now scared by how everyone on here wants to avoid a c section at all costs. Dobby please tell me that yours went smoothly?! Apparently they only like to do one C section on a Thursday (no idea why), but they already have 1 booked in for the 3rd, so I will be the second one on that day. I've heard that going in early is best, so am also worried its going to be late and/or cancelled. Had my MRSA swabs taken, should get results in 3 days.

On the plus side, only 3 weeks to go until I get to meet my new son. Grin

scaredmum2be · 10/02/2016 11:08

Rhubarb how exciting to have a date to meet your son. Try not worry about all the what ifs.

Had a call back from mental health team. They said they don't think it's the right time to offer me talking therapy/cbt/ counselling etc as having a baby is to time consuming and the therapy would be time consuming. It would only be once a week though from my pervious experience. They said to re refer my self after had baby and was settled.
Great :|. I asked what to do now and they said see my gp if I was really struggling but all my gp will do is refer me for counselling so I guess I'll ask the midwife at the ante natal department at the hospital today because it's not right just to leave me.

I have anxiety that needs addressing and support and they don't want to give me it because of baby which leaves me at even greater risk of post natal depression in my opinion.
