Oh my goodness, turns out the dog walk was more traumatic than anticipated. The dogs got stuck down a badger hole (they're terriers - the breed is designed for rabbiting so they like nothing better than going down holes). It collapsed behind them and me 2 hours to find them and then took us (I luckily met my neighbours) over an hour to dig them out! So I've spent most of the morning lying on the ground in a wood with my head and shoulders down a hole - not ideal when you're 8 months pregnant! My back, neck and shoulders are killing now!

Time for a cup of tea and a sit down!

IndomitabIe · 07/02/2016 15:10

Omg doc! What a drama! Glad they're OK.

I'm feeling pretty pleased with myself - just stripped and cleaned DSs old car seat. Took the polystyrene out to steam the plastic base (with a cheap steamer that tried to kill me, btw) and found the remains of a mouldy chip in there . The crotch buckle strap had mould in it (not surprising given the amount of crumbs that went down there) but managed to get all that out too.

It's all shiny and clean now. Just need to let it all dry out before I put it back together. And then somehow get the baby insert (never used, thank goodness) from under the sofa bed. DH had already complained that it'll be too tricky to do. Tricky schmicky.

Finished DSs 'homework' (there's a joy to look forward to first-timers: reception homework that is way above the ability of your average 12 year old). Need to hoover and then do my own homework.

Fortunately I am feeling less zombified than yesterday.

MrsBenWyatt · 07/02/2016 17:12

Glad they are OK, Doc.

I have lost some of my plug . It happened weeks before DS arrived, but I will mention it at hospital when I am there tomorrow.

sherazade · 07/02/2016 18:00

Oooh exciting Mrsben
Glad someone had a productive day indom, I'm as useless nowadays as I was in the first trimester with sickness and epic heartburn
Was complaining about tiredness in this pregnancy compared to my previous two pregnancies in Saturday to which my sil said 'well you are a lot older now it must be your age' Hmm maybe I am being touchy but that really grated me. Had dd1 at 21 ten years ago and dd2 at 22. Don't think being 31 makes me ancient Hmm

Paperblank · 07/02/2016 18:53

Missi Oh look at little Zach! What a gorgeous little chap Grin looking forward to hearing about his first day at home x

French I think the nesting instinct has kicked in here too. I am even Ironing things which have been in the basket for 5 months I am loving the fact that my to do list is getting shorter.

Doc if anyone deserves a neck and shoulder massage it's you lovey! Hopefully Mr Mcstuffins will oblige.

Indom sounds like you're in full on nesting mode too.

MrsBen that is the one thing I am NOT looking forward to Confused

Sher some people are so bloody irritating. Ignore her silly moo

Well we're just about ready for Baby Paper to arrive, DH has got creative with the Angelcare Monitor. We've been playing walkie talkies with it and DH is happy that it works.

I've batch cooked, cleaned, chucked the crap out (where does it all come from??) and am planning to spend my first week of Mat Leave chilling out. I might even treat myself to a cross stitch tomorrow. I fancy doing something creative.

Thinking of you all Smile

wow doc sounds stressful, glad you got your dogs back ok.

sorry to hear about everyones' visits to CSC. I would definitely recommend the folded up duvet trick for those of you suffering from hip pain at night - it's really helped me!

having a bit of a panic today as I woke up and realised that all the movement I'm feeling at the moment is low down - I have a terrible feeling baby has switched to breech. She was (supposedly) head down at my last appointment and I did feel her kicks higher up, but the past couple of days it's all been low down. I do feel hiccups low down not sure if that means anything. So suddenly feel quite stressed! I've got my 36 week appointment/home visit on Wednesday and I'll ask the midwife then what position she's in, because its getting a bit late for her to turn by herself... hoping that what I am feeling is elbow jabs and punches rather than kicks. I've tried to locate the head and I can sometimes feel a hard lump around my belly but have no idea if that is her head or bum or back or what! Apparently the trick is to push it, and if the whole body moves, it's not the head. But I can't seem to work out what's going on when she moves! Might have to have a look on the spinning babies website to see what I can do to get her to turn if that is the issue Confused.

sherazade · 07/02/2016 19:33

Marmite- dd1 was breech and the round solid head is really unmistakeable when it's high up - it does feel very very solid and hard compared to a bum

IndomitabIe · 07/02/2016 20:01

Ooh, exciting Ben?!

Oh, it's deffo your advanced age, Sher I'll be 35 in 3 weeks! I think it just varies between pregnancies. I was so much more exhausted last time (5 years ago). And I did spend all day on the sofa yesterday, so had a good rest!

Paper, I wish the nesting would extend to folding the washing. Got 4 ikea bags of stuff here!

One more week till half term (then only 5 more till due date & leave). Got 34wk appt tomorrow. I haven't actually written a birth plan yet. I know what I want (the pool to labour in, nothing else). Should I scratch something down for her?

maybebabybee · 07/02/2016 20:48

Missi just wanted to say what a beautiful picture of Zach, he is really gorgeous.

Me624 · 07/02/2016 21:31

You poor thing doc, glad the dogs are ok now though!

Missi lovely picture of Zach. This is probably a stupid question but why do premature babies not put on weight as quickly as if they were still inside? Is it because their little stomachs can't take much milk? It seems strange that he's still only 3lb10oz when a lot of us are now carrying 5-6lbers!

Well done to all the nesters. I made flapjacks today, that was my token effort at nesting! I can't get comfortable on the sofa or in bed at all which is annoying for when I want to just sit down and read or watch TV!

IndomitabIe · 08/02/2016 06:17

Sunday night CSC: I've had about 3 hours sleep. No particular pregnancy reason, just because it was Sunday. Hmm Now I've got sore hips.

I'd recommend anyone else in this position stay home and recover. But I'm not about to take my own advice, obvs.

BeautifulLiar · 08/02/2016 06:38

Sorry to hear that Indom :( I've barely slept too. I had too much Pepsi and chocolate at bedtime which kept me awake, then when I was dropping off I had a sudden case of diarrhoea Blush my nose is so blocked up so I can't really breathe and the baby has been alternating between headbutting my bladder and shoving her limbs into my ribs all night. I wish I got a mat leave :( but as a SAHM it's never going to happen!

Aww missi he just looks so perfect. Can't believe he may be home soon, well done you!

docmcstuffins1 · 08/02/2016 07:15

Sher, like Indom I'm knocking on 35's door, so you are but a youth!

The dogs are fine, thanks everyone for asking! They were a bit traumatised after and slept solidly for the rest of the day but are uninjured. I was so stiff last night I could hardly walk, so spent quite a bit of the evening bouncing on my newly purchased pregnancy ball which really helped loosen everything up. If anyone is struggling with back/pelvic pain and stiffness I would recommend getting one, definitely helps!

Woke quite a few times last night (mainly to turn over) but got back off to sleep ok, so not too zombie like today. Only working 3x half days this week so on definite wind down now!

Me624 · 08/02/2016 08:46

I slept ok last night (hooray!) but I am so uncomfortable this morning! Braxton hicks, major heartburn (all I've eaten is toast) and lungs still squished to buggery. Almost four more weeks of this (maybe six!) Sad

On the upside, DH found a website last night that had statistics for the number of babies born on or before their due date - for first time mums it was 56%. I found that quite encouraging!

TheMshipIsBack · 08/02/2016 09:14

All you youths (and yes I include doc and Indom at under 35 in that category!) on this thread, making me feel old! Grin I'm 36, turning 37 this summer.

Me, was that the site here? I love checking out their charts every week or two. I'm 36+2 today and with the PILs off on their sun jaunt, I am very keen to make it to at least 38+1 when they are back to take care of DS. According to that site I've got about a 9 in 10 chance.

Mat leave is lovely. Nesting for me appears to include DIY, tidying, and cooking. DH is the cleaning king in this house so on the weekends I take DS out for a few hours and leave him to it. He's such a star.

marmiteandcheeseplease · 08/02/2016 09:18

morning all, commiserations to those who were in CSC last night - I Was right there with you. Kept waking up really thirsty, and my nose felt very stuffy and horrible. can't believe this is my last week of work - I really really really really really can't wait to be done with it. All I want to do is clean the house and get things ready and I have zero time to do it!

I'm still really paranoid baby is in a funny position. I'm not sure she's breech as the hard bit I feel is still not particularly high up, but worse - I think she may be a bit transverse Confused. Almost started crying this morning thinking about how that would mean a c-section! so been on the spinning babies website this morning and done one inversion already, will try to do a couple more later on too. The hard bit (that I'm not sure what it is but could be her head) is never that high up - more like at or just below my belly button, but it's more that all the punches(?) kicks(?) whatever that I feel are very low down - I did get some higher punches/kicks/whatever last night, but have just entered into full on paranoia mode. My bump is so big that I'm slightly worried that there's just lots of space for baby to move and she's wriggling into bad positions Sad Trying not to stress just sitting on my birthing ball and doing everything I can to encourage a good position!

Me624 · 08/02/2016 10:47

Yes MShip that's the website! It's actually 54% for first time mums, 56% for second time. I really hope I'm one of them!

When's your next midwife appointment marmite? They should be able to tell you what position she's in. I've got my 36 week appointment on Wednesday (although all my appointments are almost a week behind so I'll be nearly 37 weeks by then!) and I'm hoping she'll tell me he's engaged but I doubt it if this morning's rib pain is anything to go by!

MyNameIsSuz · 08/02/2016 10:50

Sorry to everyone in the csc. I was a little bit, ds woke up in the night crying for no reason, really unlike him, so I was up for a little while and then felt in the morning like I'd barely gone back to sleep.

I just ordered my sleepyhead!!! Very exciting. Struggling to find a chest of drawers big enough for the boy's room - he's got a chest of three at the moment, I want to replace it with one twice as high so I can put the baby's stuff in too without having to cram any extra furniture in, but it's hard!

Anyone having a feeling that they're going to go into labour early? I am! Partly because it's so low down I think, partly when I move in certain ways I get a kind of popping in the region of my cervix which reminds me of when my waters went. On that link posted by mship I've had a look at the figures comparing subsequent births with first births for individual women and although I know there's realistically no pattern, every woman on there who had their first at 40+0 like I did had their second between 35 and 37 weeks! Eep! I want to make it at least until February is over, then I can get bouncing on my ball and stuff.

marmiteandcheeseplease · 08/02/2016 10:54

ooh I might have to check out that website - I went into labour at 40+3 with DD (she wasn't born till 44+5 though!). DP would love it - he loves stats (maths/sci grad).

Mship my next appt is on Wednesday, I've got my 36 week MW appointment combined with a home visit to discuss home birth. Definitely will be asking her to check the position. I'm slightly worried as she said that she would most likely be able to make it but that if something came up (I assume at hospital or whatever) she would let me know... but I don't know what will happen in that case or when she would be able to squeeze me in for another appointment!

Maybe I'm just worried about nothing.. I'm carrying really really low so perhaps that's why I'm not feeling too many kicks high up.

vroc81 · 08/02/2016 11:33

Morning all, just sat in the dentist awaiting my gun shield and then I'll let them know I'm ready for six nations! Wink

Being keeping up with you all reading over the weekend but finally found a few minutes... Did lots of house tidying and sort of feel like I might be getting there this has nothing to that I have the inlaws and a friend with OCD coming over next weekend

Missi lovely photo glad to hear Zach is doing so well and is going to be home shortly!! I can only imagine how great it will be to have you all at home together!

Docs glad the dogs were OK, I'm sure the animals know exactly what they are up to.. Had to move my horse again yesterday and after she had been such a tit for me last time brought DH as back up, so she was obviously beautifully behaved!!

Looks like we are getting some Feb babies good luck pug

vroc81 · 08/02/2016 11:34

Gum.. Not gun, not planning a six nations shoot out!

TheMshipIsBack · 08/02/2016 12:16

vroc hah, love the idea of the rugby match suddenly turning into an ok corral scene. I've worn a gum shield at night for over ten years and can't sleep without it now - is this your first?

TriJo · 08/02/2016 13:58

6 Nations shoot-out? If someone had taken out Jerome fecking Garces yesterday I'd have been a very happy bunny, he ruins matches when he's ref'ing.

Having a bit of an "I hate people" day today. Got told to fuck off when I asked a 20ish studenty type to move from the priority seat on the tube and of course everyone else buried themselves in their phones, then may have turned into a hormonal mess in the canteen in work when some guy barged in front of me in the queue and took the last portion of the dish I wanted.

More chocolate. ChocolateChocolateChocolate

marmiteandcheeseplease · 08/02/2016 14:15

oh no trijo sounds horrible! did nobody stand up for you or offer their seat?

I think if I got told to fuck off at this point in my pregnancy when all I wanted to do was sit the fuck down I would probably make a fool of myself by completely blowing my top and then burst into tears. lots of Chocolate and Cake for you

scaredmum2be · 08/02/2016 14:46

Sorry to all those in csc last night. It's truly awful isn't it.
I slept ok ish, went to bed around 11 and slept until 2 then was up every half hour until 4. I fell back asleep everytime but very lightly. Then slept until 6:45 went oh alarm went off and then fell back aslep at 7:30 until 10.
I always get longer stretches of sleep in the early hours of the morning. From 1-5 is normally when I'm up/down all the time. Ahh well can't complain.

Not felt baby move since 8am this morning and I've been inactive all day. Tried lying on my side, chocolate, ice cold water. So phoned triage they said come in at 4:00 so I am. Just feel silly as she's probably just being lazy like I have been today. This is the 3rd time and they said this may mean seeing a consultant after and weekly ctg tests. Bit scared now tbh I don't want to be induced if I can help it. We are not ready for baby and she needs some more cooking time lol, I'm only 34+2. Off to buy a birth ball now- then off to the hospital. If I feel her loads between now and four now though should I not go in?
I've had several scans this pregnancy. One at 5 and 6 weeks due to bleeding. One at 8 weeks for reassurance because of my anxiety and I had some spotting after sex. Two nhs dating scans as they sent me for first one before nt could be done. The 20 week scan. A growth scan. Two 4d scans as they couldn't get any photos the first time as baby had her hands and feet over her head. Also had a 17 week gender scan. Two ctg for reduced movements. Just worried about the effects of all the scans on my baby :(. I think that makes ten scans in total?

Missi- Zach looks amazing in that photo. I hope he comes home soon. You are an inspiration to us all how you have coped and with another son as well.

Tri- I was on a train yesterday and their where no seats. No one offered me a seat even when I stood next to a women and made it obvious I was pregnant ( she had a bag on her seat next to her ) so rude. Especially when I'm clearly pregnant, hope your ok.

Was at mil yesterday and randomly just felt really sick had to run to the loo and throw up lovely. First time since 28 weeks so took me by surprise a bit,

The day before I'd had a Burger King milkshake and a bit worried I've got food poisoning but I feel well (the nausea went as soon I threw up) and I've not thrown up since and no bowel issues so just assume it's a pregnancy thing again?
