MrsElls I've heard that you should lie down for half an hour and if it's your waters then it should sort of pool so that when you get up there's a bit of a gush! If there's no gush you're probably OK. I've been what I would describe as damp down there for weeks ... think it's just increased discharge, general sweatiness etc - not particularly pleasant!

neh205 · 01/02/2016 08:32

Me I was also super excited on discovery of veggie percy pigs a few years ago!

ffaux your baby shower sounds lovely & bringing childhood books is such a great idea! Also SO happy for you - sounds like this year is your year. And nice to hear you're settling in well.

MrsElls how many weeks are you now?

I'm having the worst morning. Trains are in chaos because of landslide and I'm convinced my cold has developed into a chest infection. Tempted to crawl back to my bed!

MrsElls · 01/02/2016 08:46

I'm 34 weeks, the joys of pregnancy eh, random dampness and pains. Its weird, I'm not massively concerned and I tend to trust my instincts on these things but I just have this little niggle. Bubba is having an acrobatics class in there at the moment so I guess whatever it is isn't bothering her!

MrsBenWyatt · 01/02/2016 09:18

MrsElls I didn't realise that my waters had gone with DC2 Blush.

With DD they went spectacularly, but there was only a slight trickle with DS and I left it ages before going in! I am now paranoid that they will go this time and I won't know, especially as scans have shown low fluid and they keep asking me if I think they have gone!

MrsElls · 01/02/2016 10:03

I only had a trickle with ds but I definitely knew they had gone. Dh made me call the midwife, she wasn't really bothered just said put a pad on and if its significantly wet in a few hours to call them back.

At least this has spurred me on to get organised, baby blankets and Moses basket bedding now in the wash!

TriJo · 01/02/2016 10:56

Fully paid up member of the CSC last night and I managed to leave my phone at home. Grargh.

vroc81 · 01/02/2016 11:21

Hey hope everyone managed to have good weekends, loving the pictures of the Cosatto pram pictures!

FFaux your baby shower sounds lovely and I think the book idea is a geat one.

Well done on all the bag packing, mine is just about there, a little wash bag and the bits that are all over the upstairs of the house need to be put into the bag rather than heading for it but I will do that one night this week. They would be easy enough to gather up if they had to be done in a hurry anyway..

Mattress related question - we got a pram/carry cot with our pushchair which was included with it otherwise I had no intention of buying one as the pushchair goes flat and is suitable from birth.. But as I have it I may as well use it - having bought new mattresses for the crib and cot we have been given I suddenly wondered if I needed a new one for the carrycot too?

Missikat · 01/02/2016 11:29

Hi all, I'm finding it so difficult to keep up! So exciting that soon there will be some other babies joining Zach!

Neh, on the hen do question I agree with the others, you may not want/realistically able to leave baby overnight at 2 months, particularly if your breastfeeding. Inwent to a good friends wedding when DS1 was 12 weeks. My mum and dad had him during the day and for the evening but I also had to, like MrsElls, take myself off into the toilets to hand express into a glass from the bar to stop by boobs from exploding several times over the day! They are feeding all the time still at that point and if you are BF then baby would have to be happy to take a bottle. With DS1 I introduced a bottle of expressed milk at bedtime from 4 weeks so I knew i could have that flexibility.

BeautifulLiar · 01/02/2016 13:04

My waters don't go until I'm about to deliver! DD2's waters popped in DH's face as he peered down there to see what was happening (he had to deliver her) Blush

My tumble dryer died last night! I'm addicted to it and even use it through the summer so I've got another one coming tomorrow. It was one of the recalled ones and has been squeaking really loudly for weeks now so at least we don't have to worry about the fire risk...

Birth ball is inflated!! Maybe this is really happening and a baby is actually going to come out of me?! Aagghh

dobbythedoggy · 01/02/2016 13:19

vroc We've got a carry cot with our pram, and I've just replaced the matress in that which was a headache and a half as it was a strange size. I wasn't planning to until I realised it is 5th or 6th hand by now and the mattress had been in it since 2008! We also plan to use it for downstairs sleeping and potentially overnight depending on how soon we go away. Might be worth looking into how much it is to replace and if it looks like it needs it. I've discovered a website that makes custom carry cot matresss for £14 in the end. I'll find out the details if it helps.

Slept really heavily for a few hours last night, but was then wide awake since stupid o'clock. Bump seems to have shifted down a bit and has now perfected a really painful rib kick. Thanks to whoever mentioned the giant muslins in tkmax, got 3 for £10 this morning after toddler group.

Me624 · 01/02/2016 13:24

Beautiful that's exactly how I feel - it's starting to feel real that a baby is going to come out!

So I stupidly forgot to ring the GP this morning about my iron. By the time I remembered it was 9.30am and I know from experience that there's zero point ringing at that time! I spoke to the midwife and as expected she said I would have to see the GP so I'll try again tomorrow. I really do wish surgeries wouldn't do this stupid same day appointment only thing. It's a real pain for me as I have to leave for work before the line opens at 8, and I can't really hang around at home in the hope that I'll be able to get one first thing. I usually end up asking for the latest available one but that means leaving work early. My boss will be fine about it and I've hardly taken the piss with this pregnancy, I haven't had a single day off sick and just afternoons off here and there for my routine midwife appointments, but it's a busy week and I don't like asking all the time for time off.

TriJo · 01/02/2016 14:10

Ugh... fucking dopey cover midwife not only scheduled my 34 week appointment for when I'm nearly 36 weeks, put it at 12:00 (awful if you're working) and couldn't bother her arse telling me, I had to actually ring up the community midwives base to find that out. Really, really annoyed.

TriJo · 01/02/2016 14:11

/cracks open bag of Mini Eggs after that call

QforCucumber · 01/02/2016 14:26

Tri hope you're sharing those mini eggs! sorry to hear about your midwife woes, some of them I've found really are a bit useless!

me hope you manage to get an appointment to suit your times, it's so annoying working the times that other places are open.

In agony at work today, back is killing me - just want to fall asleep. Really tempted to ring in sick tomorrow but there's only this week and next week to go. More than ready to stop now Sad

beautiful will they still take it in as a recall? you might accidentally get replacement anyways Smile

ff love the idea of the books, I have bought a set of Roald Dhal ones to go on a shelf in the babys room, they were my favourites as a littly and a boxed set was on amazon for £12 so just had to!

vroc81 · 01/02/2016 15:32

Dobby that be great if you come across the details - although there is someone that makes them via ebay so it might be one and the same...

Doctors/ Midwifes and their booking systems are just rubbish.. I am lucky enough to work about 2 minutes drive from my doctors so I can nip round anytime but it would be a real nightmare if I couldn't.. They also always book me in again as I leave as did the doctor the other day so I haven't had to contend with their stupid phone system where you are on hold forever! Mini eggs would be a definite must after a call to my place!

ff Q I have my own set of Thomas The Tank Engine books from when I was young on the shelf in the babys room.. I was at my DM and asked why they were out on the side and she said she was sending them off to DNephew so I am afraid they came with me.. Blush I might have to have a hunt for the miffy collection at some point too!

scaredmum2be · 01/02/2016 15:48

wow this thread moves so fast. it is so hard to keep up.
not been at work today. been out and about though viewing flats as our tenancy runs out end of the month. saw a really lovely one which i can just picture the three of us living in.
I feel so disorganised probably because in this flat I have no 'image' of where baby will be. I can not wait to move and wash her clothes and put them away, set up the cot etc. I can't believe I am having a baby next month! next month! I remember when I got my BFP in July and I was saying next year. these last weeks though are really dragging. 33+2 today. Not going to pack my hospital bag until we move out which is looking to be in three weeks time but a bit panicky that maybe this is a bit too late?

I am so done being pregnant now. i have pain under my right rib today and round to the side. the constant need to wee. i cant see my own feet. no position is comfy to sit in. i cant bend down. i struggle with socks, shoes, bending down to put my trousers on. cant wipe without struggling after weeing lol. Women who do this more than once I take my hats off to them. It is the hardest thing I have ever done.

saw someone mention iron/restless legs on this thread. I have very high Iron levels so my restless legs is not connected to iron. I just pray it goes after birth. Slept from 10-4:45 with about eight toilet breaks last night then was up until 5:45 and then slept until 9 ish.

hope everyone is ok and we don't have any people checking into CSC tonight.

rosie- i adore your pram. it is lovely. i want it.

March 2016 Babies #9 - we're on the final countdown!!
nixxxy · 01/02/2016 15:52

Joined the CSC properly for the first time last night. I've developed a cold and tbh I couldn't tell where my heartburn ended and sort throat began. That coupled up with over heating, bad back and baby doing what felt like a full Olympic gymnastic routine meant about 2 hours sleep Sad

dobby Yeay! Glad you got some. They seem to have loads of things like that in our stores oop north at the minute. I got a Miffy musical mobile too which is very cute.

Q You can do it! I only have two weeks left and I feel like you do - the temptation to call in is there but I'm determined to keep going to to proove to myself that I can more than anything!

Home from work early today mind! We had a systems failure and my boss let me take some time back; so I'm now in bed with my body pillow feeling the baby do it's warm up exercises again...

Also, ditto on the doctors/midwife's thing. Whenever I go for a scan/clinic at the hospital everything is pretty well organised and everyone is lovely. My community midwife is a bit of a pain in the arse tbh. I don't know if she keeps forgetting this is my first or her way of looking at me like in idiot when I ask questions is just her resting bitch face...

ffauxlivia · 01/02/2016 16:11

woohoo finally got a positive scan today (32.5 weeks). Placenta now a healthy 4cm away from cervix so no planned c-section, baby moved from transverse to head down, and measuring 4lb 3oz which is 50th centile. Happy to be boring Mrs Average for once!

Ah mini eggs! Something else I miss and will have to add to mum's/friends' parcel lists!

scared gosh I hadn't thought of that - I'm having a baby next month! Still slightly terrifying. I would pack your bag now if I were you, just some basics as it can just be picked up and transported easily during the move. It can always be re-packed later once you have washed clothes etc - I think just having it will make you feel like you've crossed something off the list and are more in control, it did for me anyway. We might also be moving at the end of this month when tenancy ends so I know how you feel about not having everything how you want, its frustrating! But people always manage and it will be okay, even if it's not as perfect as it was in your head!

Q I loved Roald Dahl so much! Was secretly hoping for some of his books but I don't think he was big over here - plenty of time to stock up when back home though! vroc your own baby books have been passed down? That's impressive!

Sorry to me and trijo for midwife/GP frustrations, they really don't make it easy do they.

thank you for your kind words neh - hope your train situation got better!

dobbythedoggy · 01/02/2016 16:35

vroc here's the link.
babymattressesonline.co.uk/any-size-ventilated-safety-mattress-for?cat=9
Really recomend them, they were very helpful.

scaredmum2be · 01/02/2016 16:45

Faux- great news on the scan. My baby measured 3.9 ounces at 31+4. Slightly larger than average head and abdo but slightly less then average thighs which is not surprising as I'm a shorty and oh is average build.

Yesterday scared me a bit as baby didn't move much during the day. Got to about 6pm and I told oh I was going to have dinner and lie down for an hour and if nothing much I was going to call hospital. In that hour she moved around a lot so didn't end up calling and today she has been moving a lot more.
Still no pattern though at 33 weeks

MrsBenWyatt · 01/02/2016 18:01

I have just realised that I will (probably) having a baby this month Shock

docmcstuffins1 · 01/02/2016 18:01

I'm with those on the knicker checking camp. Have had more discharge the usual, then when I went to the toilet it looked a bit pink on the panty liner (sorry if TMI), not blood, but definitely not normal white colour. Nothing when I wiped though so have just changed the liner for now and will see if there's any more. Baby's moving ok (usually more active in evenings so not much so far today but definitely moving). If there is more I will phone MW I think...

Paperblank · 01/02/2016 18:30

MrsBenWyatt

Me too!! In 20 days!!! SHIT!!!!

4 mornings left at work.
Batch cooking commenced.

Righto. Don't panic. DO NOT PANIC!

OP posts:
scaredmum2be · 01/02/2016 19:03

8 more days at work for me! Spread out until 26th feb though.
I can't wait to move and start batch cooking to.

I'm due the 19th so if they recommend induction at 40+12 that brings the latest date the 31st March. But then induction could take days couldn't it. Dreading the thought of an April baby because it seems so much further away haha.
Hoping she comes on her own near to due date as possible
I've been having damp knickers since bfp but each day I seem to get more and more discharge. All seems normal and looks normal but should I mention it to midwife as I need a panty liner each day?
