Wow! First here. Well actually mine #2 is due 30th Sept by dates but as DD was 10d late I guess Oct is the place to be. I was in Oct 14 so Oct 16 seems to be the right place to be. Anyone else?

Oh Tuddles - I'm so sorry Sad Flowers

Sound if you can't get em in Boots, Amazon do them and can ship them fairly quickly for your next oop Norf commute. Were you this nauseous this early in your last pregnancy?

soundsystem · 01/02/2016 16:41

Really sorry to hear that Tuddles

Thanks all. I got Sea Bands in Boots, fingers crossed for a quick journey home!

missy I got really bad morning sickness last time but not until about 9 weeks (I'm only 6 now). At least I haven't told many people so there's no one suggesting ginger fucking biscuits (last time around I continued spewing well into the second trimester and spent most of my time saying "YES I have heard ginger biscuits can help, sadly in my case they just cause me to spew ginger biscuits"!

missybct · 01/02/2016 17:18

Crossing my fingers sound Grin

I'm emetophobic, for years I was too scared of getting pregnant (not that I was in position to do so really) because I didn't want to be sick - I'm still really panicky about it, so not sure how I'm going to deal with it. I know you can get medication from doctors to ease it but really don't want to go down that route unless it's really really bad.

daydream86 · 01/02/2016 17:24

checking back in to say hello again to everybody :-) the weird light bleeding seems to have stopped today thanks god it's been really worrying and don't wanna jinx it but I hope that's it now! going to ring go tomorrow and see f they want to see me before my midwife referral, do you think they'd scan early if it was something that was really worrying me?

daydream86 · 01/02/2016 17:27

ooh had to dissecretly disclose my pregnancy today first the first time, I'm a nurse and I took a patient to CT scan so u had to ask the radiographer where I should hide away from the radiation without my accompanying doctor overhearing :-) she was lovely after that and wiuldnt let me lift any of the pumps felt like a right special case lol

missybct · 01/02/2016 17:39

I'm not sure if they'll scan early unless they see a reason to - as bad as that sounds and I don't mean it to - I suppose unless they see something that could be a medical problem I don't think they'd send you off (e.g; if you were presenting signs of ectopic pregnancy, I think they'd scan).

I wish they did do scans to ease our worries! Either way, the GP will advise on next course of action.

melonribena · 01/02/2016 17:52

So sorry lotsa Thanks

Ditsy, glad that I'm not the only one with a previous dc with a milk allergy. I'm going to do more research and will let you know what I find out. Might be nothing in it but we've got to try eh?!

SimileMilly · 01/02/2016 18:21

Sorry to hear your news lotsa take care

I've also been feeling a bit dizzy off and on the past few days. I have low bp normally so putting it down to that. When do cravings start? I have spent all day thinking about bacon frazzle crisps to the point I went out of my way on my way home in storm Henry tonight to buy some Blush

CatsCantFlyFast · 01/02/2016 18:23

Missy - I'm emetophobic too. For me it's more the thought of being sick or somebody else being sick than the physical sickness or vomit. Anyway I was petrified of the sickness first time around, but I survived despite feeling constantly nauseous - it was as if after a few weeks of it I didn't have the energy to be scared any more. It's not made the fear any different now - I've been ill once since dd1 arrived and was my usual sobbing wreck at feeling sick, plus I have a nagging fear of dd1 being sick - it's not happened so far. So it might be you survive it ok too, because it's more of a constant thing. However if not, there is no reason to not go to the doc for meds. They're totally safe for you and baby and actually you being calm/not stressed is better for the baby so if meds help I would go for it x

Sorry lotsa

I'm going to be paying for an early scan (well two actually, 1 at 7 weeks and then 1 at 10 as part of the harmony test). It's what I did with DD1 and helped put my mind at rest after some bleeding

Grumpelstiltskin · 01/02/2016 19:47

Just catching up on all the posts.

So sorry to hear your sad news lotsa and Ilove. Thanks

Hello to everyone coming aboard!

Interesting to read about Sept/Oct being the busiest time of year in Mat wards, but totally makes sense (as now does the hoard of teachers on here!). Slightly wondering if I should self-refer to my preferred hosp - we'll be moving in three months to a totally different borough so not sure if my current doc will be able to sort anything for me in that sense at my booking in appt (which I still have to make!) Does anyone know anything more about this sort of thing?

Symptom-wise, am still crampy for about half an hour twice a day- usually around 8pm and then 2am. Also sleeping badly (thanks, cramps). Nothing else yet, though don't fancy any of my usual cardio classes. Just done a few gentle yoga classes since BFP. Mainly still trying to take it in!

celeste83 · 01/02/2016 19:47

Quick question, are we still allowed to use bleach around the house? My friend reckons i should steer clear of it for the first few weeks.

Georgina4 · 01/02/2016 19:58

Sorry lotsa. Thanks

I've had sore boobs and lower back ache with general stretching across my lower abdomen but only at night when in bed.

I rang my gp today and was just told to ring the hospital to be booked in for my 'booking appt' with the midwives which is not until 23/2/16. I wasn't sure what to do about the matb form? Sorry for the stupid question but do u need the gp to sign that? X

wetsnow · 01/02/2016 20:00

Welcome newbies

No idea about bleach... I barely get any out not pregnant. 😂

I'm going to try and keep running as long as possible... I'm eating terribly though.

I had a lovely experience at the midwife led unit last time starting off in the pool.. I want that again... fingers crossed.

Still no symptoms.

celeste83 · 01/02/2016 20:27

I only want to bleach the loo!

No symptons here either, except maybe eating a bit more lol

Ladycrazycat · 01/02/2016 20:46

lotsa I'm so sorry.

I had a GP appointment today and they are referring me to the midwifery team. As I suffer from anxiety I thought it best to go to the GP first rather than refer myself.

All my symptoms have pretty much gone. I spent the whole of last week cramping on and off. There was no bleeding and it was not as bad as standard period cramping so I was hoping it was ok, but now all my symptoms have gone completely. My breasts are possibly achey but then I kind of think I'm imagining it. If they are achey then it is different from the usual pre-menstrual achiness.

I have read you can have a miscarriage without bleeding but do you eventually bleed? I guess you have to but from Googling I haven't been able to find out!

Before I was pregnant it had never occurred to me how terrifying I was going to find the first few months. I'm not sure how I'll get through the next few weeks until I can have a scan.

melonribena · 01/02/2016 21:12

Lady, I suffer from anxiety and panic constantly about problems occurring.
What works for me is taking it a day at a time. I've got a daily pregnancy book that I read every day and set little targets, eg only 2 weeks until I tell my best friend - then focus on that, ticking off days. Only 3 weeks until my booking in appt. etc

It works for me. Good luck

LisaTheGreek · 01/02/2016 21:56

Ladycrazycat - completely with you about how scary the first couple of months are. And I don't think I have actual anxiety - just general nerves and fear.

OH has gotten really excited and keeps wanting to kiss my tummy and say hi or bye to the [embryo nickname] and I just can't get into it. I'm so nervous that it won't keep going.

Also - has everyone else started seeing pregnant women everywhere? I mean, I'm sure there aren't anymore than there used to be, but I now really notice them. It's like there's one on every corner.

Shropitlikeitshot · 01/02/2016 22:25

As long as they give birth well before October, leaving the maternity ward clear for me, they can do as they please lisa!

wetsnow · 02/02/2016 03:13

Haha shrops

Definitely more nervous this time...

Toddler up coughing.. really don't need her ill this weekend. I have a Headteacher observation on Friday then it's her birthday weekend. 🙈

CatsCantFlyFast · 02/02/2016 05:26

Georgina do you mean the Matb form (which is the one you give to your employer and don't need to give until 15 weeks pre due date )? That's given to you by the midwife at your 20 week appointment

Or do you mean the form for free prescriptions? You'll get that at booking appointment and can claim a refund for any you've paid for before then http://www.nhs.uk/chq/pages/941.aspx?categoryid=68

Ladycrazycat · 02/02/2016 06:11

Melon that's what I'm trying to do too. It definitely helps a little!

Lisa my DH is similar in a way. He is convinced that it will 'stick' as we keep saying where as I have this constant fear. I'm still letting myself getting excited and planning but then I remind myself it's too early to get it excited.

As for pregnant women, yes! I'm seeing them everywhere too...and cute children! It happened a few days before my test came back positive. I had no inkling at all that I was pregnant (I had been on holiday so was more focussed on that rather than symptom spotting like usual). I wonder if my body was more in tune to spotting them than I would normally be because of hormones or something.

Is anyone else here in north west London or Surrey? I'm in NW London for now but will be moving over the next few months.

CatsCantFlyFast · 02/02/2016 06:11

I'm in Surrey crazycat

ashesandfire · 02/02/2016 06:30

I'm in Surrey too crazycat, near haslemere.

Ladycrazycat · 02/02/2016 06:36

Hello Merkin Ashes. I'll be moving there in a couple of months, probably Dorking area.

Haslemere is lovely Ashes. It would be a consideration for us if I didn't still have to commute to London. Unfortunately the housing prices V travel prices make it not possible.

OrangeBlossom2 · 02/02/2016 06:56

Ooh exciting, we moved recently and are between Haselmere and Dorking. We used a website called commutefrom to find places within an hour of Waterloo. Some further out are faster than closer towns because they have direct trains.

Constant knicker watch here too. I am having symptoms which is reassuring (insomnia, sore boobs, crazy thirst, nausea and dizziness) but don't quite believe it will stick and doesn't yet feel real.

And very anxious about birth. I am working on persuading my husband that we should save up for an independent midwife as I want a home birth and am scared they will be too busy at that time of year to send two midwives out and I will end up on the labour ward again. I had PTSD with ds1 so I think it would be a good investment and make me more relaxed.
