OK, OK, so we already had a couple of babies on the last thread, but we're going to struggle to keep up with the number of new arrivals in this one!!!

The surges definitely suggest something may happen soon hacquoi but must be frustrating, same for you troika.

madsaz I find it so weird when people think newborns should stay inside. I was living in HK when women are heavily criticised for not having a confinement period of three weeks of basically staying in bed. Great for some, but I'd go crazy!

clarabellski · 11/02/2016 16:50

Hi everyone, it has been a lovely sunny (but cold) day here too. I went out to the shops and enjoyed some real vitamin D rather than the pill kind! Feeling a bit pooped now so think some netflix is in order!

hi smashley glad to hear you're well and I hope your sweep is successful!

Hell yes. There's a balance to be struck between taking it easy and keeping sane. One of the very best things you can do for your mental health in general, and especially as a new mother, is gentle exercise outdoors- just going for a walk.

That will not stop me watching non stop Time Team and Homes under the Hammer whilst DP brings me biscuits though. Good for establishing breastfeeding Wink

NorthernChinchilla · 11/02/2016 16:53

X post Clara!

I did four hours in town today, with MW, lunch and doing jobs- took it easy with the PGP but have just come round from a nap!

MaisieDotes · 11/02/2016 20:01

I agree it's good to get out even if just for a short spell. More for yourself than the baby. The baby doesn't care IMO!

We took DS1 and DS2 out today to buy some new babygros for DS2 seeing as he doesn't fit into the up to one month ones which I had stocked his drawer with Confused

DS2 got lots of attention and compliments and one lady told me I was great for being out and about so soon. Its funny how different people have different perspectives on what you should and shouldn't do.

There's no right or wrong afaic. Babies are super-adaptable! They thrive in lots of different settings and environments.

Hi all! Baby boy haquoi was born today at 18.14 weighing 9lbs after a 9 hour labour. My home birth went amazingly to plan. Went into labour at 9am, called the midwives at 9.30am and they turned up about 11 ish. In the pool from 12 and then pushing from about 1pm till he was born. Bloody hell! He's absolutely gorgeous, we're over the moon and the experience was incredible. Exhausted. I'll post a photo tomorrow.

XingXingFox · 11/02/2016 22:21

Amazing hacquoi! Congratulations!!! Enjoy your first night with your newborn!

goldmaple · 11/02/2016 22:33

haquoi congrats!! I'm so pleased for you! And what a big boy! Enjoy those newborn snuggles - they grow so quickly!

In other news, TMI! I lost my mucous plug. Yay! Hmm very clear but thick, tough mucous. Doesn't mean anything is eminent but at least it is a step in the right direction. I have a sweep tomorrow.

cudbywestrangers · 11/02/2016 22:42

Congratulations haq that's wonderful news and really pleased everything went to plan for you

Hoping the rest of the babies don't insist on waiting too long before making an appearance!

Phoenix80 · 11/02/2016 22:49

Awwww congratulations Haquoi xx

IslaMann · 11/02/2016 23:11

Amazing news Haquoi Many many congrats xxx

MaisieDotes · 12/02/2016 02:49

Congratulations haquoi!!! Flowers Flowers Smile

Absolutely fantastic news! Delighted for you that the home birth went to plan.

HandbagFan · 12/02/2016 08:54

Congratulations Haquoi, sounds like you had a great experience and you certainly deserve it. Hope you're still on a high this morning and that the little man is perfect in every way. Flowers

I'm still here at 40+6, and beyond fed up now. Finding it difficult to have faith that there's a baby in there at all - I've said the whole way through that it's cake - and after four weeks off work now I'm losing track of what day it is, make up and nice clothes are a long way behind and I'm eating rubbish rather than proper meals. Need to have a word with myself but honestly I'm in self pity mode.

madsaz76 · 12/02/2016 08:56

Congratulations haquoi brill news

I did sort of pay for going out yesterday. Went to pick up a gold locket that was grandees present for lillibet then went to debenhams where I glibly left it on the checkout counter.

Realised about half an hour later - set off walking briskly in a wild panic. When I got there no one hd even noticed the bag but the panic was overwhelming. DH caught me up (he'd been pram wrangling) and calmed me down.

TMI alert made one of my stiches bleed ++ in the dash. Definitely won't be running with weights for a long time Blush

NorthernChinchilla · 12/02/2016 09:15

Oh what lovely news haq Smile Many congratulations to you, and welcome to your new boy- can't wait to see a picture.

That sounds horribly painful mad, not to mention the panic. I can feel that awful sinking feeling and thank God you got it back.

I'm currently trying to keep a lid on throttling DP. DS came in at 6, DP got up with him (we do alternate days). I come down at 8.20, DS still naked/in dressing gown watching TV and eating cereal.
They have just, now, left for the second time as DP had forgotten to collect something for DS to do show and tell at pre-school. (As background I do ALL the family admin but since DP does nursery runs I leave that side of organisation to him- this is what happens).
So they now have the 20 min drive to preschool and then DP has to get to work.

How can one person be so bloody hopeless Angry?

monkerina · 12/02/2016 09:28

Fab news, congratulations Haquoi!! Flowers

haquoi123 · 12/02/2016 09:31

This our little one briefly awake at 6am this morning, but other than that he's slept all night (still sleeping) and hasn't really wanted to feed when we've tried him. But he's peed and pooed so we think he's ok and making the most of it (although not actually sleeping ourselves...)

Sorry, this is a selfish post, I'll catch up soon Flowers

MaisieDotes · 12/02/2016 10:37

mad I got into a panic on Monday and it wasn't great at all.

On the way back from getting DS2's tongue tie snipped (so I was stressed enough tbh) I put DS1 into his car seat and DH sorted DS2.

We drove home, and DH said: will I take the baby in? I said no, you take DS1 and I'll take the baby.

I was in the passenger seat and I faffed around for a minute getting my bags sorted then I got out and walked around the front of the car to the side where DS2 was. DH was over at the other side with DS1. DH suddenly gasped "where's the baby?" and I looked into the car and just saw the car seat base. No car seat. No DS2.

In that split second I think I had about a day's worth of thoughts, it was the most horrible thing. My immediate thought was that we had left him in the car park at the doctor's and we needed to get back there now. But my brain also explored a load of possible scenarios of what had happened to him. It was really horrible.

DH, and I'm sorry now, but the absolute prick then said- oh Maisie I'm only kidding! He's here! - and he had already taken him out and put the car seat on the ground behind the car.

I ended up having a shaking, sobbing fit for about an hour afterwards. I could have killed "D"H.

Suffice to say he's on a warning re his little "jokes."

XingXingFox · 12/02/2016 10:50

handbag I've become convinced this is a phantom pregnancy and that its all just food. I think staying in the house and feeling too exhausted to do anything is not good for me, but I just feel like this baby is never going to actually arrive!

madsaz76 · 12/02/2016 11:03

haquoi he's beautiful.

My husband has learned about the hormones now - even yesterday he was careful to say "we lost the locket" rather than risk another emotional outburst from me!

Rufus200 · 12/02/2016 12:37

haquoi congratulations, I am so happy for you xxx

maisie that was not a nice joke at all. I would have at least stamped on his foot for that, but more likely thumped him!

goldmaple · 12/02/2016 16:25

hacquoi he's gorgeous!

maisie good that your DH has learned. My DH thought that sort of thing was funny with DC2... And was corrected by my rage/fear.

Had contractions that woke me up every 20-30 mins last night, but not much this morning... Hopefully the sweep does something. After 2 DC I thought I knew what I was doing. I feel like this baby is saying 'don't think you know what's going on!'
