Sorry you've been having such a tough time sherazade, hope you feel a bit better now?

Feeling v big and uncomfortable today. Having to wear a bra is driving me mad. I have a correctly fitted soft cup nursing bra now and it still digs in. Even with bra extenders. My boobs want to be free!

docmcstuffins1 · 23/01/2016 14:44

Haha Maybe I like nothing more than taking my bra off at the end of the day. Release the boobs! Grin

MyNameIsSuz · 23/01/2016 15:14

Welcome back sher! Sorry you've been having such a crap time of it.

maybe could you go for just a soft sleep bra type thing? Like the genie bras you get in boots?

RhubarbAndMustard · 23/01/2016 15:42

I've just made Mars Bar Rice Krispie cakes with DS. Totally blame you lot. Do you think we'll be solely responsible for sudden rush in Mars Bar sales? They are very yum though Grin

Welcome back Sher but sorry you're having a rough time.

I definitely feel like bump has dropped. Bras are actually feeling comfortable again and I don't feel so big anymore. Pelvic pain is getting pretty unbearable at night though.

Jealous of all of you finishing work soon. My last day isn't until 3rd March Sad.

dobbythedoggy · 23/01/2016 15:45

maybe I've given up on bras altogether at the moment! Did try sleep bras for a week or so but found them uncomfortable too. What I have found works really well is the nursing vest tops I had from dd, which got next to no wear at the time. Just a tiny bit of support at the front. Worn with a set of washable breast pads, a necesity at the moment, it doesn't look like I'm not wearing one with a top over the top. They were from matalan in 2012.

Trinpy · 23/01/2016 15:56

Welcome back sherazade. I was on crutches with spd in my last pregnancy so I know how it feels Sad. Are you getting plenty of help with it?

Maybe where did you get fitted for the bra? If its digging in then you should take it back because its obviously not the right fit! Its so hard to get right when you're pregnant, isn't it? I didn't think mine were that bad until one day dh noticed I had deep grooves in my back where the bands had literally worn my skin away Confused. Finally found one that fits now so I've bought 3 of them and just hoping I don't grow any more!

Sorry to hear the sickness has returned for some of you Flowers.

Tomorrow is my last day of work! I'm so pleased I'm going this early because I'm really struggling now. I'm looking forward to spending some quality time with ds and dh too Smile.

maybebabybee · 23/01/2016 16:09

Only bought last week but I think I've grown!

Unfortunately I have to have bras as have GG cup boobs so there is no disguising them :(

MyNameIsSuz · 23/01/2016 16:34

If it makes you feel any better maybe, I finally found my maternity tankini (for hopeful water birth and relaxing daytime swims once I finish work) and the boob bits are so tiny I'm going to have to buy a bikini for underneath!!

Me624 · 23/01/2016 17:24

I've been wearing the soft sleep bras since about 20 weeks Blush mine are a bit smaller than yours maybe but I'm still a DD normally, probably an E now, could really do with more support but proper bras just got too uncomfortable!

MyNameIsSuz · 23/01/2016 17:40

Mine are a ff to a g cup normally and I can't quite let go of the underwires yet, so I know where you're coming from. I hated nursing bras and as ds was breastfed for 14 months I was in them for a really long time! So I want to leave it as late as possible before I resort to them Smile

I did wonder if it was making my heartburn worse, but it's no better when I'm in my pyjamas. It's reached the point today where I keep being sick in my mouth a bit, but without even any gagging or anything, it just pops up unexpectedly. Sorry for gross tmi.

Missikat · 23/01/2016 17:49

I second Indom and Me on the not taking a dressing gown. The wards are always hideously hot. When I was inpatient before Zach arrived I just had a zip up hoody that I would wear if cold (which was barely ever!) other than that I lived in Jersey type maternity trousers and vest tops.

How is everyone doing on the choosing names front? Would love to hear any definite/maybe choices.

I think I may have to join in the crispy cakes tomoz with DS as an activity while DH is at hospital with Zach, have you been literally just melting mars bars and adding in rice crispies? Dobby how did you make the salted caramel ones, they sound yum!

Doc your hamster story made me crease up!

welcome back Sher, hope you're feeling better.

Missikat · 23/01/2016 17:54

Mynaneis, I feel for you with the heartburn. Mine was horrific even at 25 weeks before I had Zach so I dread to think what it would have been like if I'd still been pregnant now. Prob just like you describe....bleugh.

maybebabybee · 23/01/2016 18:09

I have a dressing gown, but it's a lightweight cotton one in black, not a fleecey one.

Our top choice name wise is Max. I also like Jake :)

RhubarbAndMustard · 23/01/2016 18:14

Missi I melted the Mars bars, added some butter and a squirt of golden syrup, then stirred in the crispies.

My favourite name so far is Jacob Oliver and I think DP is onboard. He is Nigerian and DS has a Nigerian second middle name but we just can't decide on one this time round.

IndomitabIe · 23/01/2016 18:18

Hi Sher! Sympathy for your SPD.

DH and DS have made the Rice Krispie cakes! (The Mars choc went a bit claggy but a splash of milk loosened it enough to get the krispies in).

The Snuzpod was delivered this afternoon. So I've had a blissful hour putting it together (I don't care if there's 2 months left, I love building flat packed furniture!). I'm really pleased with it. It feels really sturdy. I don't want to have to put it away again now though!

No idea on names. At all Confused

MyNameIsSuz · 23/01/2016 18:33

I think we're stuck on names too Sad I'm still hoping for Cecilia but dh keeps saying no, and our joint front-runner (so compromise!), Sylvie, I'm still not convinced about.

hayleycookie · 23/01/2016 18:35

indom I put the snuzpod up last week haha it even has blankets and sheets on now, and is covered up next to the bed! Feels good to have something ready.
Also no idea on names. 3 or 4 we like but I'm waiting for a "hallelujah" moment where we hear a name and just know it's the one. Starting to doubt that's gonna happen so will have to make a list of 5 and see what he looks like I think. Will be screwed if he doesn't look like any of them but I think we have 6 weeks to register him.

I think on our list atm are Harrison, Leo, Zachary (if it's OK with Missi) and possibly another couple I've written somewhere but if I can't remember them they can't be that great!

IndomitabIe · 23/01/2016 18:35

I really like Sylvie, I think it's cute on a little one but ages well. One of my 6th form teachers was a Sylvia, she was brilliant! (Another was Ursula, she was awesome!)

sherazade · 23/01/2016 18:36

Thanks everyone !! Glad to be back and share woes / thrills of pregnancy (although the woes are outdoing the thrills at the moment !) re the spd I finally saw a private osteopath at the recommendation which changed everything. She gave me some super simple and gentle but unbelieably effective exercises to do with a yoga ball and recommended ice packs in the hips / lower back 4 times a day and the difference has been incredible. I'm now off the crutches and totally on top of the pain. Cannot recommend it highly enough for anyone suffering from severe spd - took one 40 quid visit and about a week of rest and the exercises to get rid of the agonising burning/ grinding and clicking.
Congrats Missikat am just catching up on all the threads and news here- has been very busy but am super impressed with your little one may he grow from strength to strength Smile

IndomitabIe · 23/01/2016 18:38

Grin Hayley! Obviously I immediately put the waterproof mattress protector and sheet on it! (It's probably got a cat in it by now too!)

I'm so glad it feels worth the price. I can see why they hold their resale value. If only we'd bought it for DS.

Only thing left to do is retrieve the car seat (might order a new cover) and try to get the mould out the buggy straps. I'll probably do them tomorrow!

nixxxy · 23/01/2016 18:47

I hope you all don't mind me sliding in here, I've been lurking for months but between work/life/being preggo I haven't quite been in the mindset to register - but finally I have!

I'm due 28/03 - first baby for both myself and DH. Not finding out gender so it'll be a surprise (not much of one though, granted).

On the snuzpod front, I bought one last weekend when the £179 deal was still on with an additional discount from the code Smile We're getting it out to check the pieces tonight - very excited!

Me624 · 23/01/2016 19:00

Welcome back sher and welcome nixxxy! Sher I have been suffering with SPD for the last 3 weeks or so though not nearly as badly as you but I can also testify to the power of Pilates (I'm sure it's very similar to the yoga you've been doing) - I can't believe the difference in pain just from doing it.

Finished off washing blankets and things today (I did all the clothes last weekend). This is probably a stupid question but if you are using cellular blankets for the baby's Moses basket/cot (I am planning this until he's big enough for sleeping bags), do you just put them straight over the baby or do you use a top sheet like you would if you were making up a bed with blankets?

IndomitabIe · 23/01/2016 19:11

I think I did Me, certainly the pic of DS in his cot on his first night at home had a jersey flat sheet folded over the blanket. However, with the benefit of hindsight, we're going with swaddle pods instead of blankets this time.

I've no idea why we didn't try swaddling last time. Now the woombies have arrived, they seem so much easier than faffing with blankets! And if they help him sleep then all the better.

TheMshipIsBack · 23/01/2016 19:22

We've been lent a snuzpod by friends who don't have room to store it between their first and second babies so we get to use it for our DC2 and will stow it in our loft for them till they need it - they haven't asked for any money but we will buy them a new mattress when they're ready to take it back. I'm really impressed with how sturdy and quality it seems. We just co-slept a lot with DS by pushing the bed against the wall and having a wall - baby - me - DH layout, and I am loving the thought of not having to give up my duvet this time! There's a slight gap between our mattress and the snuzpod, so one of my mat leave tasks is to arrange for a custom cut piece of foam to snug in there. The pod's currently sitting at the foot of our bed with all the extra pillows in it.

I have checked out of the CSC for the last few nights, surprisingly by getting rid of virtually all pillows except one for my head. I do wake up to roll over, but go back to sleep quickly most times. This baby doesn't move much beween 11pm and 7am, though she's plenty active during the day. It's still not enough sleep, though. With work in the mornings and DS home in the afternoons, I can't nap, and it finally caught up to me yesterday. I started getting dizzy and faint while doing the weekly shop with DS. Somehow I got through it, loaded the car, strapped DS into his seat, and turned on his favourite car cd. I just laid my head back and was instantly asleep for about 15 minutes. I was able to drive home safely after that. Last night I slept about 7 hours, then today I have napped three times, for a total of 4 hours, and am currently feeling like going back to bed again. I'll definitely be asking the midwife to check my iron when I see her on Tuesday for my 34w appt!

I think I've posted here before that we've chosen Tamsin May for our baby girl. We wanted a 'T' name for a variety of reasons, and that was the only one we both really liked. May is for DH's gran.

Grin Loving the hamster stories! I had a gerbil, similar experience but smellier than hamsters I think!

Tomorrow's big goal is to make my own batch of Mars Bar krispie cakes. They sound amazing ...

meganlilly89 · 23/01/2016 19:23

Can I join in?

I'm due 28th March with dc2.

We have a a 4 year old dd and now have a little boy..

Suffer with SPD badly, on crutches which are no fun! Didn't have it this badly last time.
