Hi ladies,

I've been TTC2 for 1.5 years and I've just found out I'm pregnant Smile 1 day before Xmas eve! Best present ever! Anyone else celebrating a bfp this Christmas? I've already had to dodge chocolate mousse, champagne and Stilton...all worth it though!! Grin

Morning all, and welcome to the new members!

nails re telling work - where I work (public sector) only being back for a few months before going again is actually easier for us. We've probably hired temp staff to cover the first lot of maternity leave and it's cheaper / easier to keep them on than run a new recruitment exercise / train somebody a couple of years later. Perhaps you'll be in a similar situation?

Running I'm not surprised you're shocked! My friend has an 18 month age gap with her first two and loves it. It was hard it first but now her two are inseperable.

I'm feeling... blah today. Sorry, not very descriptive but not sure how else to put it. Hungry but don't fancy anything to eat. Bit tired. Bit achey. I don't remember this with DS, but my memory isn't all that good! Wish I'd written it down.

DH and I have each told our mums now, who are both very excited (and sworn to secrecy!). I might have to tell a couple of my friends (one I was supposed to be going to Norway with in October and the other I was supposed to be doing the Race for Life with in September). If either of them push me to book things I might have to let them know. I was looking forward to Norway, too! Not so much the Race For Life... Wink

How on earth am I going to make it through the day? I slept so heavily last night but I need more ! First day back at school. They aren't going to be happy with me as I work with a child (15 year old) in a special needs school who is physically abusive towards staff and I am not putting myself in that situation. Wish me luck girls ! Confused

LetThereBeCupcakes · 06/01/2016 07:58

Good luck rachy! It doesn't matter if they're happy, baby is far more important!

Hello, can I join? I got my bfp on the 28th December while ttc#1. It's all a bit of a shock as we had only being properly 'trying' for a month. Now I'm 5+2 and super paranoid about every little twingeGrin. I do have a question for any gym goers - are you taking it easy right now or keeping to your normal routine? I'm normally doing 3-4 sessions of spinning and kettle bells during the week, but I've swapped over to yoga and stretching classes to stay active but be cautious - am I going OTT? Thanks Smile

Runningbutnotscared · 06/01/2016 09:18

Hi cupcakes, thanks for the hello! My edd is 10th sept I think (I've only had one period in the last 18 months so it's a bit of a guess

Sara - if it helps I ran a 15mile cross country race at five months pregnant and kept up body pump until seven months pregnant last time. There is no need to do anything different exersize wise (apart from avoiding crunches from the second trimester I think).

If you do give up spinning etc now you won't be able to pick it up again in a few months. Is there no way you could scale back a bit so you can still go when your five months gone and missing it?

lastnightiwenttomanderley · 06/01/2016 09:25

Saw this pop up in Active threads and had to drop in and say congratulations - this was me last year! DS was due September 21st but was born on 5th and is now snoozing next to me :)

nailsathome · 06/01/2016 10:49

Sarah I do pole and can't decide if it's OK to carry on or not.

You're probably right running, I will wait until I've had an apt with the dr/midwife to confirm with them then get back in the saddle (so to speak, lol). I think I'm just feeling little everything has been a little bit too easy up until now and there's bound to be problems if I push my body too hard (I'm 34, so on the edge of that increased risk category). I'm planning on still staying active anyway with yoga, stretch classes and lots of dog walks, Smile

balalalala · 06/01/2016 11:58

I've been to see the doctor this morning which was exciting and reassuring. Thankfully the stretched tummy muscles seem to have eased off. I've got my booking in appointment on the 29th which seems so far away as I'll be 9 weeks! Do they book your first scan after that or will I receive a date before?

Fifi10 · 06/01/2016 12:25

Hello all, can I join? My EDD for dc1 is 27/8/16, but I feel like I'm way behind the Aug 2016 group as I haven't even seen my midwife yet just the GP.

peardrop2 · 06/01/2016 15:19

Lastnight - awww that's nice Smile I bet it feels like a life time away now!

Hello to all the newbies...so many that I've lost track Grin

Balala - my midwife will book the scan at the first appointment but every area is different. You could always ring up your gp and ask?

OP posts:
Runningbutnotscared · 06/01/2016 17:27

I don't think 34 on the edge of the increased risk category - I was 35 when I had my first and no mentioned that I'm ancient apart from me - there were plenty of older mothers on my ward.
The only sports they advise you to stop are contact ones and ones where you might be at risk of falling I.e. Horse riding....so unless you fall off your stationary spinning bike HONESTLY you will be fine :-).

MargaretCabbage · 06/01/2016 17:49

I think the advice is that it's fine to carry on exercise you've already been doing. I planned to last time but I was so tired in my last pregnancy I give up at about eight weeks! I am quite lazy anyway though.

The midwife books the scan at booking in in my area as well.

Hedgeh0g · 06/01/2016 17:52

I'm not looking forward to telling work either, I've only been back from mat leave 3 months. Although they'll get nearly a year out of me before I go off again, which doesn't seem too bad. I do feel slightly sorry for my manager, half his team will either be on mat leave or about to go!

Sausage2229 · 06/01/2016 17:53

Hello lettherebecupcakes! I have arrived. EDD 8.9.16 SmileFeeling much calmer today X

nailsathome · 06/01/2016 17:55

Pole has a risk of falling so I'm not sure Confused

balalalala · 06/01/2016 18:00

Thanks all!

MrsMogz · 06/01/2016 21:14

How has everyone been today?

I have had dizziness and my boobs are getting huge!!

peardrop2 · 06/01/2016 21:24

Chocolate - dizziness doesn't sound very pleasant. Poor you Sad

I've been feeling tired and hungry. More hungry. I tend to need a carb snack soon after dinner Blush

peardrop2 · 06/01/2016 21:25

MrsM - sorry to hear that. It might spur you on to Ttc earlier then March now Wink fx you're not waiting long!

OP posts:
kimblesj · 06/01/2016 21:28

Sorry to hear that Mrsm. Good luck for ttc X

I haven't felt too bad last few days. Forget I'm pregnant most of the time, just a bit of insomnia and sore boobs. Had stretching pains and period cramps but otherwise fine. Keep thinking I will go to the toilet and find AF has come.

How is everyone else?

Sausage2229 · 06/01/2016 21:35

So glad I joined this group! Lovely to hear people with the same symptoms! I no longer feel like I'm going crazy!!! Grin
