Hi ladies,

I've been TTC2 for 1.5 years and I've just found out I'm pregnant Smile 1 day before Xmas eve! Best present ever! Anyone else celebrating a bfp this Christmas? I've already had to dodge chocolate mousse, champagne and Stilton...all worth it though!! Grin

I wish I knew my EDD but as far as I can work out (based on the pg test last Saturday wch said 2-3 weeks (that equates to 4-5 weeks I think?) that I'm due anywhere between 1St and 7th September... I think??!!

Hurr1cane · 07/01/2016 15:29

Woke up this morning with a horrible pain in my side, just felt the same as my last ectopic.

Anyway I rang the doctors who sent me to the EPU and they gave me an internal scan.

All where it should be. Could only see the yolk sack measuring at 4-5 weeks which is right by my dates. Going back in 2 weeks to double check

rosetintedspectacles · 07/01/2016 15:42

Hi everyone! I just said hello on the TTC#1 thread (pregnant with our first baby, currently 5+2), but thought I'd join here too since current EDD (according to Ovia) is 6th Sept.

Feels VERY strange to write all that out, we've not told a soul in 'real life' yet!

Is there a general consensus for when to make an appt with the doctor? I'm making myself wait until the 6 week mark, mostly because I'm terrified something will go wrong in these first couple of weeks and don't want to have to cancel the appt if it does.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm so glad the Christmas season is over! We had an inkling I might be pregnant so I didn't drink, and then got a BFP on NYE, so having to find excuses to turn down drinks was pretty full on!

Fifi10 · 07/01/2016 16:25

Hi rose, I went to my GP as soon as I got my BFP but my GP said I could have organised the midwife booking appointment directly (takes place at 8 weeks where I am)... so technically you could bypass the GP altogether??

rachywhite83 · 07/01/2016 18:39

Just returned home from work and tucked in with my birthday cards was a letter for my first midwife appointment next Wednesday. It's a group session and from there you get a midwife assigned to you and your first appointment.

Hoping seeing someone might calm my anxiety. My husband is in medicine and very clinical about our miscarriage last year. I need a listening ear!

peardrop2 · 07/01/2016 18:46

Awww ickle how scary for you. Sending you Mn hugs Thanks

Just to give some reassurance to some of you having their first... With my first pregnancy I had a lot more twinges and a spot of blood/ brown discharge at around the 5/6 mark. I went into hospital at 2 weeks pregnant because they thought it might me an ectopic pregnancy as I was so so constipated and uncomfortable with pain! Looking back I think having a boy produces a lot more progesterone and it must be so hard for the body to cope with all this new stuff going on first time! I'm currently worrying because this second pregnancy feels so much easier already Wink So maybe the first pregnancy is a lot tougher on the body?

I have a craving for fruit at the moment. My mum has informed me that she had the same craving when she had me. So lovely to hear. I'm enjoying being pregnant today Smile Another week is nearly over ladies....phew!

Hurricane - How lovely that you've seen the little bean Smile I remember seeing a sac...it's very odd isn't it!

Ditto peardrop - currently paranoid because I have so few symptoms compared to last time. I just think that I was hyper aware of everything last time, my body knows a bit more what it is doing and also I'm too busy dealing with DS to spend every moment fascinating on what all the twinges mean Grin

MillieMoodle · 07/01/2016 19:31

Evening all

I also had some brown/pink spotting with DS around the 5/6 week mark. They sent me for an early scan when I was 6+2 and they could pick up his heartbeat which was very reassuring.

By my calculations I'm around 5+3 today, so I am knicker checking far too much at the moment. The nausea has set in with gusto today, I've swung between being starving and needing to eat, and feeling like I'm about to throw up. Am extremely glad it's nearly the weekend. This week at work has been a real struggle. I've been very tired and impatient!

Still getting cramping on and off but am trying to reassure myself it's all a good sign.

Ickle - hoping all is ok, thinking of you Thanks

rosetintedspectacles · 07/01/2016 19:59

Oh that's interesting fifi, I had no idea you could bypass Dr and go straight to midwife? Do you happen to know the protocol for getting in touch with midwife for the first time?

Thanks for your pearls of wisdom pear, it's so good to know that things can all turn out well even after having scary symptoms. Looking back, I was having mild symptoms even just a couple of days post-ovulation, so will be interesting to find out if the boy=higher progesterone theory is correct!

Fifi10 · 07/01/2016 20:07

At my GP surgery you can ring and book direct with the community midwife for her clinics. I had no idea of this until GP told me and felt a bit silly going to the GP as the first point of call.

I also found through googling at the time that you can also go online to your local hospital trust maternity website and it gives you details of booking in with midwife. (Im Leicestershire)

Hedgeh0g · 07/01/2016 20:49

Well, I've been trying to ring the midwives all day to organise a booking appointment, and nobody answered. Not instilling confidence!

Purplypinkstar · 07/01/2016 20:49

Not sure if it's overstepping the mark, but would anybody be interested in joining a sept mums Facebook group? I find it a bit easier to navigate sometimes. Please tell me if this isn't ok. It's just I'm on a February 2014 birthboard and I've made some really great friends on it. X

nailsathome · 07/01/2016 20:56

Hi new people

Sorry to hear about the worries some of you are having. Every pregnancy is so different, I had no spotting/bleeding with my mmc but did have it with the subsequent 2. None yet with this one.

I'm not ready for a Facebook group just yet, I feel like I'm already tempting fate posting here. I'd definitely be interested after 12 week scan though

sophied1983 · 07/01/2016 21:05

Yes... I would be up for private Facebook group.

Sx

sophied1983 · 07/01/2016 21:06

ps. Are you all planning on having all of the various tests you can opt in for?

Purplypinkstar · 07/01/2016 21:10

I will set one up as a private group and then people can join whenever xxx

Sausage2229 · 07/01/2016 21:21

Evening all, I would like to join fb group after scans. I've also been trying the midwife all week but she's always in clinic and books her own appointments!! Organised a private 8 week scan today, no way can I wait until 12 weeks! I would be a nervous wreck! X

Hedgeh0g · 07/01/2016 21:22

I did an 8 week scan last time as well, because I scared myself silly reading about MMCs. Not sure if I will this time- would like to feel like I don't need to but in reality I'll probably be just as paranoid.

RifRafia · 07/01/2016 21:25

Yes, I would be interested in a private FB group, but also after the 12 week mark (touches wood frantically!)

Purplypinkstar · 07/01/2016 21:47

It's set up as 'mums and bumps sept 2016'. I will leave it as a closed group till most are 12weeks + and then make it private after that X

MillieMoodle · 07/01/2016 22:11

Yes I would be interested in the FB group but like others will probably leave it til after the 12 wk scan stage Smile

Pawpatroller · 07/01/2016 23:01

I asked the receptionist at my gp's and she just said to ring the MW to book in. I did that on Tuesday afternoon, left a message and still haven't heard back. Same number as I used to ring with my previous 2 pregnancies and I used to fall off my chair if anyone ever answered! They're just so busy. I'll probably try again tomorrow but it doesn't feel so urgent, I'm only 4+6.

ohanami · 08/01/2016 06:31

I'm thinking of a scan at 8 weeks this time too - I drove myself mad those last 4 weeks waiting to find out! Plus dh is away the week my 12 week scan is likely to fall, and he'd quite like to be around for the first one. I'm holding off to book it until I've been to my booking in appointment on the off chance that they'll give me an early one on the NHS due to complications last time (unlikely, but you never know)

I think I'll hold off until a bit later to join a fb group too, it's still such early days but hopefully see you on there in the spring.

MargaretCabbage · 08/01/2016 06:33

I will join the Facebook group a bit later on too. I know I'm really pregnancy, but still can't quite believe it. I felt the same last time, imagining I might get to the scan and there would be no sign of anything and they'd just think I was mad!

Sorry to hear about some of you experiencing worrying symptoms. Pregnancy does so many weird things to your body, and you worry about all of them!

The FB group I'm in from when I was pregnant with DS has been (and still is) amazing, such a lovely and supportive group.

Still not feeling sick! I'm so hungry though going to eat all the delicious things I can now just in case...
