Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hi everyone. Dont get much time to read and post but I am keeping up with everyone when I can!!

To those of you with headaaches - I have had a cosntatn headache for about 10 days now (and had them on and off all through the first trimester)- went to the doctor this morning and she said it was a sympton of low-ish blood pressure, which was to be expected at this point in pregnancy (apparently it is at its lowest mid-pg after which it starts to rise again, and then risks high bp!). She sent me for blood tests too, to be sure, but basically said the low bp combined with hormones are the cause.

As someone said, I like to know what it is that cause these things!!!

marchbunny · 22/01/2007 17:54

Newby and firstar - thanks for the info re headaches, I have a cold and am a bit congested and generally have low blood pressure anyway so this goes a long way to explaining the bad headaches. Along with the hormones I guess. Do remember having them in my last pregnancies - think it is just another phase that will hopefully pass.

Twoplusone - glad you have managed to round up a bit of help.

Chooster - really good luck for your next scan, hope all is well.

Think we are going to treat ourselves to a new pushchair for no3, used a travel system and McClaren stroller previously. Not sure what to go for yet, will be looking into it soon. Any excuse for shopping.

justbeme · 22/01/2007 20:21

Hi all - Any one experienced this - After hoovering the whole house and getting abit hot, I felt really queasy and then violently threw up - my MS went about 3 weeks or more ago, and somehow my partner didnt believe me when i said i couldnt hoover for the rest of my pregnancy !
Also suffering from alot of cramp in my calves when i wake up and also a dead arm at the same time!

Jennster · 22/01/2007 20:52

Humph I had just got off the phone to a friend this morning, having just told her I was over morning sickness, when I vomited into my bowl of apricot wheats. I don't think I can face them anymore.

I have had another migraine today and still got the cold/bunged up sinuses/sore throat I've had since before Christmas. Maybe I should see the doctor. All three of us have been suffering since then, we've been through 6 boxes of tissues.

keiralou · 22/01/2007 21:34

Hi All, Am also having headaches but am putting it down to the fact that I need to drink more water - not easy in this weather... Twoplusone hope you are continuing to take it easy - just remember your health is so important, but that's not always easy when you have other kids and a dog to look after is it?

On the pram front - we had the jane one for dd - at the time we had a jeep car so the boot was small and the jane folds right down. Its kind of like a travel system. The car seat folds flat and you can also have baby lying flat in the back of the car (we didn't do this as were always worried about the safety of this as it was quite unconventional. The car seat then attaches to the pram so you can just swiftly remove car seat from car to pram in one move and keep baby lying flat. DD was very snug in the car seat/pram for a good few winter months. Downsides of it for us were that the car seat was a faff to out in and out of the car - there's no base for it and its heavy and also the basket underneath loads from the front (minor detail that). This time we're gonna stick with that but we've also been given a mamas and papas car seat so might just keep that in the car. God, never knew I could say so much about a pram!

got a whole lot of maternity clothes last night - borrowed from sister and sister-in-law. Am in process of getting them washed all ready to cover the bump!! Normal clothes just starting to bulge significantly. No going back now!!

Good luck all - hope to chat agin soon xx

MelissaM · 22/01/2007 22:05

I was starting to think I was the only one still being sick. Sorry to hear others are still suffering tho. MW said it's prob when tired, over hungry or blood sugar low. Any excuse to eat every 2 hrs (including digestives at 2am today!)

twoplusone - sorry you haven't been feeling well, take it easy. I have had some discomfort in same area - hopefully nothing to worry about. Don't worry about dr not finding hb, apparently there's a knack to it and not everyone has it.

chooster - good luck with scan on wed

sorry to hear people have had bad experiences of NHS scans. Private scan at 11 was great, really caring and informative/reassuring. NHS at 14 was awful. Waited 1hr, told nothing without asking, couldn't see without contorting & weren't offered any pics v disappointing. Glad had private one first. now thinking of homebirth to avoid horrid people at hospital.

re pushchairs etc, have couple of friends with phil & teds, they think they're great. Was thinking of mamas & papas travel system (poss from ebay) as this is our first. Like idea of pram but also not having to wake lo if falls asleep in car. Not sure will fit in car though. I've been trying to talk dh into letting me have a newer car for over 1yr - maybe now he'll let me!

Sorry for rambling! Was planning on early night why dh away - oops!

twoplusone · 23/01/2007 07:03

Justbeme- I am finding that my arms go dead quicker than norm at the moment.. alos sometimes have the starting of cramp when i wake up.. with ds had cramp most nights used to wake up sometimes crying..

Have come to the the conclusion most of my symptoms normal for this stage, just cant remember feeling like this with the other two..must be my age and the fact thats its number three that things seem exagerated...

Going to take a walk up to the creche today and see if there is anyway that Scott could start this week rather than next (due to start beginning of Feb) I am going to play the DR said card..see where it gets me...!!

Hope everyones colds start to ease off soon..

Anyone else noticed that there hair is growing like wild fire at the mo.. esp leg and bikini line"!!

Off to send email to DH to let him know about the tyre thing yesterday!! Another quick question our car is 20months old and has 20,000miles on the clock, a garage hads just offered me just less than 50% fo what we paid.... is this normal didt expect to take sych a loss considering we paid Tax Free and selling as Tax Paid!!

Chooster · 23/01/2007 09:10

Hi Twoplusone - I'm with you on the hair thing - My head hair is growing really fast and my bikini line is out of control. I have caught DH looking at my fanjo when I'm in the bath with a worried look on his face. The other day he said "Do you think anything can be done about that, or is it beyond help" - Cheeky bugger! Now I'm feeling better I think I may just be able to stomach a trip to the waxing ladies

20,000 miles isn't much for a 20month old car - I presume it was new when you got it? I know its well known that new cars lose their value quite quickly but thats a massive drop. I wonder if they would have said the same to your DH?

Quick question for all those who have had a couple of kids.

How did you cope when no.2 arrived? Both DH and I feel incredibly nervous that DS1 will feel slighted or threatened by the arrival of no.2. And equally, that we won't like no.2 as much as no.1!

He is a really magic little guy (2y4m now) - we love him so much...nervous that we won't be able to replicate the bond or feel the same.

Very strange thing to be raising - sorry!

Chooster · 23/01/2007 12:43

very funny you should say that trimum as my DH and I had the same conversation last night! Our DS is 2.8 yrs and is an absolute sweetheart (most of the time), and we've both wondered how we will feel about this one. I can't help but think that your first one will always have a special place in your heart?? My DH says that each child probably has a special place in your heart but for different reasons.

DS is also our top priority and I do worry how he will react when there is another around.

The only thing I've found though is that all these feelings are really common and everyone says that your love just grows to accomodate the new baby. Your DS will adapt in the same way mine will, I'm sure.

saf1 · 23/01/2007 12:52

Hi all,

Have tried to catch up but so much to read hope everyone is ok

Trymum2 (like the name) when I had dd2, dd1 was only 20mths old. She was fine with little sister and even gave her a bit of her biscuit at 2weeks old AAHHyou just have to try and divide yourself which can be tricky but dd1 just kinda got used to it and enjoyed being mummmy's little helper by getting me a muslin cloth when b'feeding, getting nappy when changing. Getting them to join in helps them feel a part of it i found anyway.

Not sure how it's going to work with db3(darling babe)

I have a travel system and a Maclaren which can be used from birth and attached a buggy board on the back for dd1.

Hope that helps.

Anyone else suffering with nosebleeds?

I've had loads of them recently not sure why as I usually have very low blood pressure anyway seeing mw next week so will check it out with her.

Take care all

dewmeadow · 23/01/2007 16:54

trimum - you just do bond with the new baby, every bit as much. It just blows me away - the miracle of this new little person who i grew!! [sob]

My dd was 2 and 3 months and was definitely jealous for about 2 or 3 weeks, especially as shes such a mummys girl and I couldnt lift her as I had an emergency section. But Ive always includedher in little jobs and tried to have some time just for us (or just her and daddy) and now she adores ds - she loves playing with him and cries when he goes to bed!! Dont know how no3 will change things - ds is really sucky and he'll only be 17 months.

twoplusone · 23/01/2007 17:09

It is true you make room for the little one in your heart I remember thinking early on I cant imagine life with out having him to love... if that makes sense!!

Got DS into to creche as of tommorrow

what will I do with myself a whold 2hrs 45mins peace 3 times a week.......

(I will sleep tommorrow as he will be up early alredy gone to bed for the night he is knackered... hoping he goes past his normal 10 hrs or I will be up at 4!!!!...)

twoplusone · 23/01/2007 18:35

If you want ot see what my family and i look like click on the little yellow book (far right of my name)...
As you may have guessed dont really do annonymity (however it is spelt..)

weddingcake · 23/01/2007 18:37

Evening all!

just a quick question really before I attempt to eat some dinner (still really struggling with evening sickness) ...

Is it ok to eat boursin cheese? I'm sure any french ladies out there would think I was being ridiculous even asking but just wanted to check.

Hope everyone's doing ok and that scans are all going well.

Take Care xx

Ps great news about creche twoplusone. Hopefully that means you'll have a bit of child free time for just the two of you when your dh returns too.

emmyb · 23/01/2007 18:42

What do you mean twoplueone I cant see where to click

emmyb · 23/01/2007 18:43

Yes I can its just magically appeared!!

Cakehead · 23/01/2007 19:26

Saf1, yes, I'm having nosebleeds too. Always prone to them but now having several a week, particularly first thing in the morning and in the evening.

And I'm pretty sure Boursin is OK, Weddingcake. It may say something on it like 'made from pasteurised cows milk', but as it has such a reasonable shelf life, I'm sure it is...

Anyone else having really sexy dreams? Was about Elvis a few nights ago (and not young, fit Elvis, but Elvis in Vegas, if you know what I mean) and then ex-boyfriend last night... Feeling quite treacherous.

twoplusone · 23/01/2007 19:30

I had a few nosebleeds at the beginning of the pg but havent had any recently..

Been having horny dreams though!!!! People coming back from my past to visit ime in my dreams..... lol

Cakehead · 23/01/2007 19:37

Glad it's not just me. Keep waking up next to DH all in a fluster...

twoplusone · 23/01/2007 19:45

2weeks and 2days and I will have my DH in a flutter....lol

Bodkin · 23/01/2007 19:58

Hooray - feel like old self again - have energy back, can eat sweet things without stomach wanting to exit my body through my mouth, libido back (yes, am having saucy dreams too) - seems like everyone else is feeling more energised too just from the last few posts I have read. To everyone else still feeling the sheer exhaustion and nausea, hope it's not for too much longer.

Even tidied out shed today. Feel positively Amazonian. I LOVE the second trimester!

Am a bit concerned about my weight gain so far though - I have put on a whole stone already (15 weeks) that seems like an awful lot considering the bean is probably only about 8cm long or something. Last pg I think I only put on 2 stone the whole time. How much has everyone else put on so far? Am I completely porking out?

typhoonsmum · 23/01/2007 20:05

DP has been banned from nocturnal activities (or any other time for that matter) as I had a post coital bleed on Friday. Cleared up straight away (Well after about three trips to the loo) an nothing since. Dp understands my fears but isn't entirely happy with it.
Have seen two prams I like the look of.
The M+P's Pliko Pramette (or Chicco does a cheaper range) It has a carrycot option and a car seat option so can take Baby for long walks lying flat and short trips with Dp and car with car seat bit and it transforms into a sturdy pushchair to last till about two years. (Then prob get mothercare £25 buggy) Just need to save up now.
Am only 13 weeks and 3 days (tomorrow) but I swear I can feel flutters. I only seem to notice it when I finally sit down and relax. It may just be wind but wind has never made my stomach jump. It is always at the front in the area where baby is as well so I think it is flutterings.
