Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I am using the pushchair ect I had for DS the Mamas and papas freestyler, nevatta and primo viggra car seat... I personally dont like to see new borns out for walks in car seats, but it is whatever you feel comfortable with.
I like to keep them laying flat for the first 3-4 months then gradually start to sit them up.

I am just hoping the pushchair will be alright as I kept taking it apart to stuff in the washing machine, we need to sort the padding out.. if not I will just use it with the attachments then buy a pushchair from 6 months plus...

I bought a doppler thingy today by summer infant... (40euros) couldnt hear anything but this one says from 21weeks onwards.. I think for this precise reason so you dont panic if you dont hear anything.. Have put it away and will try in a few weeks..( i know I will try sooner prob one night when the kids have gone to bed and it is quiet..)

Pookey i think we are right, its kicking.

Stretching muscles??? Nah. It definately feels like baby. What do these doctors know anyway!!

Jennster · 20/01/2007 20:44

Stretching muscles and ligaments flipping well hurt!

pookey · 20/01/2007 22:05

Yeah in anycase what do men know!

earlyriser · 21/01/2007 14:30

typhoonsmum, i got a travel system which had a great carry cot attachment where the baby could lie flat AND be facing you, you can lie the baby flat in a normal travel system but if the hood is up you can't see them. Mine is a Graco from babiesrus, but i think mothercare also do a similar version. The baby is cosy and snug, but you can also use the car seat attachment if you are taking the car into town for example and don't want to wake baby up moving from car seat to pram. I still use it for my 15mo old but she is now in the pushchair part. It is a bit of a tank mind you but has lasted well.

earlyriser · 21/01/2007 14:33

Forgot to mention that when they get to 20lbs you have to buy a forward facing car seat for them so it means two purchases but my dd didn't go into that until she was a year old, just depends on the size of your lo. and i'll use the old car seat for my new baby, so it's worthwhile if you are planning on having more than one child. gosh, just realised that you probably have children already (typhoonsMUM being a bit of a giveaway? Oh well, this info might come in useful for new mums to be!

typhoonsmum · 21/01/2007 16:09

Yeah i have one other child but she is four and I was given what I could get while pg with her as I was earning £400 a month and DP was on £300 (90% of that went into the pub.Things were very different back then. Felt as if I was doing it alone and raised Dd the way I wanted with no input from him. Fortunately DP saw the error of his ways and made a 100% improvement) Took a lot of charity then.

Things have changed and I want to buy a new pram for this child. I will use the cot, crib and moses basket from DD but it was the pram that I didn't like last time and am able to change it this time.

abgirl · 21/01/2007 19:42

Typhoonsmum we had a travel system for DS. Was OK and great incorporating the car seat but found we ended up buying a lighter push chair later on anyway as the travel system was so heavy and bulky. Something to bear in mind when you're looking anyway...

swift1 · 21/01/2007 19:44

Hello everyone,

sounds like we are all well. Its so exciting that people are starting to feel their babys move inside them.

I look massive - at least 6 months gone im sure - i dread to think what i will be like at 8 months!

Have quite an embarassing question to ask..... is it safe to use my rampant rabbit? . Sorry to be so direct, but am getting horney urges all the time, especially when im sat at the kitchen table doing my puzzle...odd or what! I think it might be all the pelvic floors I keep doing! But I dont want to risk harming the baby.

TIA x

twoplusone · 21/01/2007 20:21

swift1- you really have made me laugh....wasnt expecting anyone to come out with that.. using your rabbit will be fine.. if U hadbt had to throw mine away (curtisy of finding mice droppings in the box with it!!) before we moved mine would be getting used trust me!!

twoplusone · 22/01/2007 09:24

worlds easiest quiz
Try this for a monday morning..

Cyee · 22/01/2007 09:31

Thanks Firststar! I was looking at the Angelsound one, so it's great to get a recommendation. I think you're right - only get one if you're prepared not to panic if you can't get a heart beat.

On the matter of Rabbits, or other battery operated 'aids'. I have read that they're fine... which is just as well in my case .

Miaou · 22/01/2007 09:35

Oh my word, I had a bath last night and caught sight of myself in the mirror as I was getting in - can definitely tell I am pregnant now!! That was quite a surprise, I seem to have really filled out in the last week! I am still easily fitting into my clothes (though I am now into my post/birth one-size-bigger-than-normal stuff rather than my usual size) but at this rate I think I will be in maternity stuff in a week or two!

After having not slept well for weeks, I have had two really good nights' sleep and I feel so different, really alive! I won't go as far as to say "energetic", but still, much better than I have been feeling. Yay, blooming at last!

Trimum2 · 22/01/2007 12:15

Abgirl - we were the same with No.1

Spent a fortune on a 3-in-1 travel system (mamas and papas) and then after 7/8 months, we switched into the Maclarens which is so much lighter and easier to use. Am now a HUGE maclarens fan!

twoplusone · 22/01/2007 12:27

miaou- glad you are feeling more alive..

Picked DD up from school to go to the dentist.. on the way to the dentist I felt something in the road then the car seemed to be driving funny, got to the dentist (luckily on camp) got out of my door and went to the passenger side back as that is where I felt the car was wierd and I could here a loud hissing sound.. on closer inspection a huge piece of metal had gone right through the tyre and embedded itself... had to ask in the dentist if they could get some help for me.. when we went back out tyre totally flat.. whilst they were repairing the car went to the doctors to get a prescription, thought I would ask if the nurse could see me as for a few days I have had really bad headache and tummy pains low down worse when i go tot he toilet..even in my fanjo when I have a wee... nothing showed in urine so sent me to see the dr.. who wants me to have near enough total rest for next few days and if things get worse they are going to send me for a scan.. he tried to find babys heartbeat but nithing... I am not worried (yet) as I know it is esrly with other two I am sure was 16-17 weeks before we picked it up..

Luckily ds has dropped of on the sofa so I am going to have a nap with him now, as I am finding it harder and harder to get up at the mo.. dd had to get up with him yesterday then I still had a nap in the afternoon, got up at 5.30am with him this morning, then fell asleep at 7.30 on the sofa. dd woke me to say bye when she was going to school, then fell back to sleep till 9.30!! luckily ds was good and didnt do anything other than try to change the dvd and watch telly.!!!

I promise I am know going to slow down and take things easy.... I need to now....

Twoplusone, sounds like you have had a morning of it! Just what you don't need, a car problem! Sorry to hear you have had bad headaches and other horrible pains, I really hope you have a good chance to rest and take it easy - I know how difficult that is with two others to look after.

Did the Dr check your blood pressure? Just wondered if that could be causing you any probs? Clutching at straws really, it is just nice to be given a reason for these 'things'.

Think I have the same due date as you and I have been getting dreadful headaches too, having to take paracetemol and lie in dark rooms - hopefully just all hormonal related. Hope you feel better really soon. Take care.

Chooster · 22/01/2007 13:38

Twoplusone - Hope you start feeling better soon! I really hope you get the chance to out your feet up but it must be so hard with your DS at the age he is... I know you are counting the days until DH is home again.

Firststar - My DS hated his moses basket and wailed every time I lowered him into it. We put DS to bed in his cot from 2 wks old as he fought the moses basket so much. But I know other babies will love theirs so I guess its a matter of finding out what works for you. I expect this LO will be different again

Things are definately brighter for me and, although not blooming I don't feel bad anymore. In fact if I wasn't so HUGE I'd wonder whether I was actually pregnant - (I look about 6 months gone now... ). We've got our 4th scan on Wednesday so I'll get to see my little bean again and hopefully provide some more re-assurance. Since the sonographer at my last scan talked about Downs Syndrome I've got it in my head now and I've dreamt about the baby having DS a few times now. Even though there's nothing to base the worry on, my brain has obviously latched onto it.

Hope everyone else is doing well!

Hi there, We also has a travel system with DD1, but then switched to a McLaren Stroller when she was a bit bigger. Was just so much lighter...

As for crib or Moses basket, I thought our Moses basket was great. Meant you could move the baby about more easily - used to put DD out in the garden in the shade of a tree for some fresh air and then be able to carry her indoors when nec. Could take the basket to other people's houses at night, and she'd just doze off. Easy to carry from room-to-room at home. And we had a cot-bed for when she got past six months or so. Glad I went for that option now, as haven't had to make the transition from cot to proper bed with her yet...

hi everyone!!

Ive been away for ages! LAst week was hectic in RL so was too tired to cruise MN, and then me and DH went to Amsterdam for the weekend - no babies, just us. It was great, though I was tired at nigfht, so not much partying for me (or DH) and my pelvis is aching today from the walking. ANyone else have that? I had that with no2 and now no3 -its SOOOO sore!!

Sorry - couldnt be bothered to read back a week or so, but hope eeryone is in fine fettle.

LOL at the rabbit! Im starting to feel a wee bit horny again too.

I TOTALLY look pregnant now. My bump was showing from about 8 weeks and it pushed my remaining fat belly from no2 out. I got a pair of maternity jeans last week and they were so comfy I cant face normal clothes now, and why should I?!!!

twoplusone · 22/01/2007 17:01

The dr did give me some menthol inhalation stuff so I am going to do that tonight when ds has gone to bed.. think I will put a bowl in his room too may help him as he has a bad cold..

Am feeling sorry for myslef as today is the original date that dh should have been home.. never mind 2weeks 4days to go .

have got someone walking the dog for me for the next few days and neighbour said she would have ds for a bit tommorrow if I needed her to..

When I pee it hurts in my lower tummy region were babs is and in my fanjo it feels blocked!! wierd I know anyone else ever had this.... wee sample was clear but they have sent it to the lab just incase..

On plus side I am negative for gbs..which is good.

On the stroller front, I really like the Maclaren too wanted one for ds but dh said no ..but I will get my way this time round.. will get one when babs is about 6 months..

Firststar- the dr had the doppler at my pubic area but still nothing.. quite a bit of blubber to get through though .. I am seeing the mw next week hopefully will hear something then..

Going to go and feed the dc now....sorry I do go on dont I....

twoplusone · 22/01/2007 17:03

Dewmeadow- I have the aching, amd it is worse than i remember with the other two so it must be a third timer + thingy!!
