Happy New Thread (fingers buffering crossed this works AND I can manage to post the link Confused )

Amy so pleased to hear your news!!

Biffle I hope things with your husband improve quickly for you, he needs to realise what he's putting you through and be more supportive.

Who was it said about the lingering nausea I still have it too!!! It's getting me down now it takes over half my day. I just feel rotten all morning like I'm about to be sick but then I'm not, it lasted until 16 weeks with dd so just hoping I won't have it much longer

PrincessPunzie · 17/12/2015 11:35

caterpillars I'm 15+4 too and my midwife actually asked me on Tuesday if I'd felt any movement yet, so it's obviously possible at this stage, even with a first. I've been very conscious of my tummy in the last few days - I keep getting odd twinges etc. but I have no idea if it's movement!

I don't think I've gained much if any weight (I don't weigh myself, but all my clothes still look the same on) however my tummy is definitely changing shape, although at the moment it's only discernible to me. I don't much like it, several people have said to me "Oh because you're slim and toned you won't show til 20 weeks or more " which has made me paranoid about showing earlier and beating myself up over it. Eating disorder-brain has never quite left me, unfortunately.

I'm always needing the loo at the moment, which is making exercise rather uncomfortable - I'm not willing to give it up though, so I'm having to get used to doing it on what feels like a full bladder (not actually full, cos when I go to the loo about a tablespoon of wee comes out - FFS!) Constantly needing the loo at bedtime as well even though reality there's not much in there - think I must have a very busy baby at the mo!!

LaPharisienne · 17/12/2015 12:41

Belleboo I am also sick as a dog... 13 + 1. It went for about a week and I started going to the gym again and was so relieved and here I am STILL feeling terrible!

bikingintherain · 17/12/2015 13:01

princess, what you describe as needing to go for a wee and a full bladder but only a little bit coming out is a sign of a UTI in pregnancy. It's not too much to worry about but is possibly worth a trip to the GP just to check.

Torfhinn · 17/12/2015 13:13

princess, try not to listen to what other people say about your bump or lack of it, you'll show when it is right for your body. Other people really know nothing about it. I was slim and toned and had a bump from around 12 weeks, others show after 20. Unfortunately you will get comments about bump size all through pregnancy, almost all of which is entirely unhelpful. Try to trust that your body if doing exactly what it is supposed to, regardless of what others say Smile

Torfhinn · 17/12/2015 13:15

Also i agree about the possible uti, might be worth calling your midwife so she can test it for you x

Torfhinn · 17/12/2015 13:23

17, sounds like baby to me! Yay!

Sorry, on phone, responding to one post at a time Grin

PrincessPunzie · 17/12/2015 13:35

Thanks biking and Torfhinn it's not constant though or I'd be worried - it happens during exercise (usually at the start, like five minutes into a run) and at bedtime. I think the latter might be due to my bad habit of having a can or two of Diet Coke in the evenings. I've had UTIs before and they were nothing like this.

Tofhinn I think part of the reason I'm still keeping my pregnancy under wraps from most people might be partly to do with the comments, actually. People are trying to be nice, but saying things like "You'll be one of those lucky women who only gets a bump and no other weight gain" or "Oh you'll be back in shape afterwards in no time" is trigger-y for me because I instantly start to think that if I don't do those things I'll have let myself down. Unfortunately, people who aren't pregnant love to comment on those who are, it seems. I'm relieved to hear that you showed a bit earlier though - sometimes I feel that women only tell you when they started to show if it was super-late in the game!

Torfhinn · 17/12/2015 13:47

I had a really prominent bump last pregnancy, even though i measured spot on, it looked large, perhaps because i have a small frame. I remember at around 6 months people would ask how long i had left, when i said 3 months, they would look aghast. It made me self conscious about my shape and i slightly hate those people for making me feel that way. Fully expecting it again this time.... Shock

Ignore their comments, you will get a bump, you will gain weight, you will lose it again but it will take some time, and it will all be just as it should be x

clarish84 · 17/12/2015 14:33

Had my 3d scan today my dh was over the moon to finally hear a heartbeat he's been dying to hear it . We found out we our team blue super excited can't wait to tell my other children my 10 year old who has autism had his heat set on a baby brother so think it's going to be the best christmas present ever can't wait for christmas now Smile Xmas Grin

mrsmugoo · 17/12/2015 14:34

I look now like I did at about 20 weeks last time. I think it will even out but 2nd time around there's a bit less muscle elasticity holding it all in place at the start!

Lovelybeano · 17/12/2015 14:35

princess I have shown really early in all of mine, some of my super fit friends have, some haven't, everyone is different. If you can try o have in your head, 40 weeks to grow, 40 weeks to go back to normal. Try to brush off comments that other people make, sometimes they can be very rude. I had an elderly lady say to me when I was 6 months pregnant 'no corset will hold that in' so rude

carrie1008 · 17/12/2015 14:37

I've really struggled to find a hot drink that didn't make me feel sick...and I've finally found one! Twinnings do a Cherry & Cinammon fruit tea, no caffeine and it's not too sweet. Might help some of you who are still getting hit with the dreaded nausea.

I'm now 13+3 and my bloat is slowly turning to bump...from the bottom up. DP says there's a definite bump but I'm not convinced it isn't just water & gas!!

carrie1008 · 17/12/2015 14:38

Oh congrats Clarish what a brilliant scan...you must be the first to find out what team!

clarish84 · 17/12/2015 14:44

I'm only 15 +3 they has no other appointments till after Christmas but when the woman said it should be fine I was a bit unsure they would be able to tell . And the sonographer wasn't to sure when she started but after a long wait for our shy little boy to finally turn round and move hos feet from under his bum she got a good look I'm so chuffed x

Eastend2015 · 17/12/2015 15:29

Awww Clarish congratulations, so exciting.

Princess- I'd agree with what others have said- I am a size 8, 5 ft 7 and exercise 3-4 times a week a have had a definite bump for a week or so (now 13+3). I expect I could squeeze everything in a bit more but am just trying to relax and let my body do what it needs to 😊 Getting into some nice mat wear made me look (and feel!) a bit less like I'd gained a bit of weight and more pregnant but the comments have started already!!

nehagarg · 17/12/2015 16:04

Oh Clarish ... How exciting. Congratulations Smile ... My 20 week scan is 3.5 weeks away. I can hardly wait now!

Definitely getting a proper bump now at 16+3. Might have flutters too but being a first timer, really have no clue.

Anyone else planning to travel when they are 20-21 weeks? We booked a holiday to the canary islands in January and I am a little jittery. I dont like flying as it is, not sure how I will feel when stepping on that plane 21 weeks pregnant.

TomboyGirl · 17/12/2015 16:11

Hey Snowflake, I am the same! 16wks today and have had no morning sickness. Bump is only just starting to show, but it is only obvious to those who know me well.

Loving really sweet stuff at the no and must be at least 4wks since I was at the gym Blush! Gone off meat...yuck!

mrsmugoo · 17/12/2015 16:14

I flew at 20 weeks last time nehagarg - it was totally fine.
I also did a 7 hour train journey up to the Lake District at 37 weeks to go to l'enclume as my "last" long trip.

Belvedere · 17/12/2015 16:43

Lovely scan clarish84 and great news for your ds.

Nehagarg I flew at 26 weeks last time to Portugal and this time I've got a 10 day trip to Florida when I'm 28 weeks! Which is a bit crazy and exciting all at the same time. It's a big family trip for my mums 60th. I'm just hoping there is some nice relaxing pool time instead of walking round theme parks for hours!

PrincessPunzie · 17/12/2015 17:08

Hi beano thanks for that - again, nice to know that slim, fit ladies don't all show late. I do feel better for having read your post and Torfhinn's, as while my bump hasn't emerged yet, it seems to me as if it's working its way out and will be here before the hallowed 20 week mark, and I've been ridiculously panicked about it. I was always aware, even while TTC, that the toughest point of pregnancy for me was going to be the "in-between" stage where you can just end up looking as if you're letting yourself go a bit, since I've been horribly obsessed with my figure since my teens. I'm actually looking forward to sprouting a proper tummy as I think it will be a relief from all the worrying and over-thinking, plus once the baby is in physical evidence I might actually start to believe it's there and feel a bit more of a bond.

Lovely 3D pic clarish - gosh I wish I'd booked a gender scan for before Christmas now like I'd planned! Ah well, 20 weeks will be here soon enough I suppose...

nehagarg · 17/12/2015 17:13

Good to know Tomboy and Mrsmugoo. We have booked an all inclusive, away from the world kind of package so should be very relaxing. Really looking forward to taking my telescope for La Palma's fabled night skies!

Will also know baby's gender by then. Cant wait now. 3.5 weeks to go!!

GrubbyWindows · 17/12/2015 18:19

princess there's a dodgy stage in the first half year after the baby is born when your body is readjusting- you still look pregnant for a while, and then everything is just a bit different which takes getting used to. That can be a very triggering time, especially as it's peak pnd time too. It sounds like you are being very wise and far sighted, and making sure you are not putting yourself in extra difficult situations!

biffle I hope you are ok.

laughingGnomette · 17/12/2015 18:33

nehagarg - exciting!! It's also 3.5 weeks until you reach the half way point! I'm finding time is flying now I'm past the 12wk point.

Clarish - congratulations! Fantastic scan image :) now time to pick names!

Lovelybeano · 17/12/2015 18:56

Finished work, done the school run, tea made and 3 dance lessons done, I can honestly say I feel absolutely shocking today, I keep wobbling backwards like I'm going to pass out, it's horrible Sad I'm home now with my comfort dressing gown on, snuggled on the sofa letting the oh bath the kids. I feel really guilty cos judging by how he is, he's had a shocking day at work too but I just have no energy left to look after him boohoo hope everyone else has had an ok day xx
