Safe trip Gnat, see you here when you get back x

Lovely to hear about scan pictures and heartbeats. Some good news is wonderful for all us knicker-checkers!

Sleep well all xxx

Cookiesandcoffee · 25/11/2015 23:05

Have a nice time gnat
And to those talking about the Chinese gender predictor ... For my last DDs one said boy and the other girl. So 50% success Hmm
This time round says boy. I did more than one and all said boy. And I will find out! Too impatient not to. I wish I could hold off but I know I won't..

Loki17 · 26/11/2015 07:03

I'm struggling with the sickness today. I'm exhausted and could really do with a duvet day. I'm so grateful to be pregnant but I'm so emotional at the minute. I had a panic at work yesterday because I 'felt' like something was wrong with me dd and my mobile phone signal is crap at work. Dd attends the same school at which dh teaches - he is right there! Yet I just felt like she needed me and just wanted to go to her. She was fine of course, I don't know why I got so anxious. And I have a tiny spot on my lower eyelid which is agony! Woe is me! I'm guessing this is all hormonal? Anyone else having any hormonal crazy lady moments?

Ladyboluna · 26/11/2015 07:10

Morning ladies!

Those of you like me who are feeling very worried or stressed, do you have any coping mechanisms to share?

I've decided to make more time for hobbies to give myself little projects to get through the week. Going to start doing crochet again and spend more time reading and cut down on time spent browsing the Internet and YouTube (not including mumsnet of course!).

I think some baking and maybe some soup making is in order for the day. And try and book a private 8 week scan, it's so good ladies to hear about heartbeats really made me smile which is ace Smile

Thistledew · 26/11/2015 08:04

Hello!

I'm just checking in to say I'm still here!

I'm so sorry to read the stories of people who have had losses. Thanksto anyone still reading.

I'm 5+6 today. Still very few symptoms, apart from the fact that I have most definitely gone up at least one bra size. I have a bit of bloating around my tummy and am definitely feeling more hungry than normal, but am trying not to pig out too much. I'm steadily munching my way through a large bag of apples and drinking pints of tomato juice!

I have an appointment with the EPU tomorrow as I am still consistently getting a few spots of brown blood every day, but there has been no further pink, fortunately.

We are seeing family this weekend, so will be telling the parents the good news. Smile

Bluebell20 · 26/11/2015 08:24

Lovely to hear all the good scan news! I would love the reassurance of an early scan, but I'm going to wait until my 12 week NHS one as money is tight (I dropped from full-time to part-time teaching this year, and my additional freelance work doesn't fill the shortfall).

I don't think I'm going to find out the sex at 20 weeks - I like the idea of a surprise, and I don't want my baby in gendered clothing from day one!!!

Hoping that the Christmas madness is going to carry me through the next month of waiting for that scan!

Mordirig · 26/11/2015 08:45

Good Morning! I had a really good nights sleep so I am all perky and annoying today :D

I hope you have a lovely time away gnat

For anybody who is anxious/worrying, I completely understand as that seems to be my default emotion most of the time, however sometimes when it gets too much and I find myself staring into space with a panicked look on my face I tell myself to step back, do some deep breathing ( it really works well if you exhale for longer than your inhale ) and simply remind myself that I can't change whatever is going to happen, I can only control how I react if something happens.
When you realise that there are many things we have no power over you kind of have to admit defeat and just go with it.
That is unfortunately just the way many things in life go,, don't let that stop you from remaining positive, just remember that sometimes things just happen but you still have the ability to get up and brush yourself off and try again.

I hope you all have a good non knicker watching day, the sun is out here today so I'm taking DD for a long walk by the river later :D

gnat99 · 26/11/2015 08:59

Hope you feel better soon Loki - I had a spot on my eyelid too, earlier this week! Was wondering what that was about. Noticed it in a meeting, got totally distracted scratching it...

Thanks for bon voyage wishes. I'm at the airport now with DH. Still having weird pains but not as bad as yesterday and no bleeding. Quite worried but trying to be philosophical - as Mordirig says there's not much I can do so might as well hope for the best and get on with things.

Gorgeous sunny morning where I am Smile

Cheery1 · 26/11/2015 09:34

Mordirig - that is great advice! I've been doing the headspace ap on my phone on particularly anxious days. I think because I had a miscarriage in April, I'm even more anxious but that 10 minutes of headspace does help.

Lady - I'm impressed! I think hobbies and projects are the way forward. I am feeling fantastically lazy at the moment so I'm struggling to get motivated but you've inspired me!

Loki - I think I have a crazy lady moment most days! Hope you feel a bit better and that you can rest up a bit this evening.

Have a good day ladies xxxx

Gnat have a great time.

Anyone else suffering with being really out of breath?? My nose is stuffy and has been since I got my BFP but when I walk what is usually an easy regular 10 minute walk for me I really struggle and get so out of breath. Im at home today and have a million things to do to get the house ready for Christmas but I'm going to have to sit down for a bit. I feel utterly exhausted. I only did a bit of shopping.

Woodsy81 · 26/11/2015 10:29

Beautician, I feel exactly the same. Last weekend when DH and I were xmas shopping, I was exhausted. I just felt heavy if that makes sense. Everything seems to take so much more energy. I also have a stuffy nose especially at night which had been stopping me sleeping properly. We have a dehumidifier thingy that I have been putting on at night which has helped so much. I read up about it. Its called pregnancy rhinitis. Quite common apparently. Apart form lack of energy its just nausea, nausea and more nausea for me today. Who would have thought it would take me to 9 weeks to feel like this. Still I am grateful for all the sickness free weeks I have had. Hope you are feeling better after a rest.

Morning all, I've had a lovely chilled morning. Have an event at work tonight which means I won't get home till after 11.

This is first night out not drinking, I've told my colleagues I'm on antibiotics so driving.

I am knackered by 10pm so good knows how I'll be tonight.

Also feel really bloated Confused

BearStuff · 26/11/2015 11:15

thistle I'm 5+6 Today too!

beautician I get SO out of breath and it's scary! I carried DD up the stairs the other day and honestly felt like I was having a heart attack! Then do strangely fine at the gym. Hmm

SunnyScot89 · 26/11/2015 11:22

Morning everyone, my what a chatty bunch you all are!! we'll be on thread 8 before Christmas at this rate.
I'm booked for a private scan on 6th Dec, midwife on 11th and 1st scan on 8th Jan. 6+3 today
Feeling awful today. Currently drinking ginger tea which does seem to be helping a bit. I thought I had been feeling rubbish before but today is so much worse. Think it's worse than sea sickness, and I can't even get off the boat. Staying in bed and pretending the world isn't happening doesn't help either. :-(
So happy to be pregnant, but would love not to feel so pants!

SoniaShoe · 26/11/2015 11:32

Morning ladies, its really nice and sunny where I am in Sussex too.

I get really out of breath too so easily. I think its something to do with the amount of blood redirected to the baby. Well my mother in law got told by her medium that we were having a boy so I'm gonna go with that Grin. Looks like the Chinese predictor has about a 50% accuracy which I the same as just guessing so I'm gonna go with the medium hehe.

I keep thinking my nausea is getting better and then I get hit by a wave of it. I'm gonna get me some of those crackers too they sound good!

redstrawberries101 · 26/11/2015 11:47

Hi guys!

Loki- don't worry, some of us are definitely feeling rubbish at the moment.

Thistle - all the best with EPU tomorrow, keep us posted. I had that in week 5 too and scan showed everything looked OK.

Ladyboluna- do you work? I definitely also need a distraction from worrying/ becoming obsessed

Bluebell - you don't have too long to wait for 12 weeks so think that's a good move!

Cheery I'm going to check out this app!!!

Beautician - I am also getting out of breath. I think it's normal. Take the time to have a few mins rest in between each task, you will feel better for it! Hope you managed to get a lot done.

DH birthday next Friday - struggling with ideas???

YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut · 26/11/2015 12:08

I'm getting breathless easily too! And the permanently stuff nose, which is a nightmare.

SoniaShoe · 26/11/2015 12:32

Interesting article I've just come across about the screening tests thought some of you might be interested..
www.theguardian.com/society/2015/oct/17/living-with-downs-syndrome-hes-not-list-characteristics

Cheery1 · 26/11/2015 12:32

Yep got the stuffy nose and weird breathlessness - think it's really common!

YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut · 26/11/2015 12:52

I read that too Sonia.

Are most people here planning to have screening? At my booking appointment my midwife was keen to make sure I knew I could refuse it, and to think carefully about it. We will be having the nuchal fold scan I think. I'm not entirely sure what decisions we might make after that though, if we had to.

Cookiesandcoffee · 26/11/2015 12:59

Really short of breath beautician . Really not helpful when exercising, or even carrying DD2 down the road...
Good luck @ EPU thistle keep us posted.
Have a lovely time gnat and hope the flight is ok. I flew this time last preg and I didn't feel great on the flight so hope you are ok.
lady you're really good for the hobbies. I barely have the energy to clean the house. The carpets are gross. Are you going to crochet blankets etc for baby? Wish I could do that!
Jealous of all the sunshine ladies! Very grey here. My mood is so reflective of the weather. Today is a grey day. Ha.

Just scoffed a prawn sandwich and kettle chips in record timing. Such a pig.

Bluebell20 · 26/11/2015 13:05

I'm having the screening. It is a really difficult one, though, and I am just hoping against hope that the odds will come back low so that I don't have to make any further decisions. If I got a definite positive, I would probably choose to terminate. My husband and I plan to have one child biologically, and then adopt. I imagine having a child with difficulties would make it much harder for us to adopt a second.

SoniaShoe · 26/11/2015 13:06

We will be particularly because of my age (40). But its not downs itself i'm worried about rather other disorders that don't allow for any quality of life at all. Last time we had a very high probability for edwardes syndrome (i remember one of you saying you knew someone who had a baby with it) and i would rather know about something like that so you can weigh up the best options for the baby really.
