Hi all. I haven't posted but I've been reading along. I mostly haven't posted as I'm not sure if I'm due in June or July and so felt torn if I should join!
I've been enjoying keeping up with your posts. Sorry for not saying hi earlier.
I have a question. I'm due around 1st July so am just beyond 10 weeks. I called my doctor and asked for a referral to midwife over two weeks ago. I haven't yet heard from the midwife for a booking appointment or a scan. I'm not sure if I call the doctor now or the midwife (I don't know their number). Any ideas? I live quite centrally in London so midwife will be quite busy but I feel like it's getting on a bit for me to not hear from them yet.

crazycatlady39 · 08/12/2015 21:17

wineonmymind I am in North London and saw the dr two weeks ago - they said they would refer me but still haven't heard anything. I was going to give the hospital a call next week if I don't hear anything as I will be 8 weeks on Saturday. Wanting to book a private scan in for before xmas too - don't suppose you (or anyone) has London recommendations?

Sorry to hear about everyone's sickness: i am not vomiting but feel pretty grim most of the time. Feel very sorry for myself as well as have no kitchen due to renovations. Keep getting tearful when confronted by anything vaguely stressful. I feel like a mess!

Wineonmymind · 08/12/2015 21:31

Crazycatlady with my first child I went to a private clinic on Harley Street. I can't remember the name but they were very good and there were a few in the area that everyone recommended.
When you say you're calling he hospital, do you think I should find the number of the local maternity ward at the hospital I would most likely by using and explain my situation? I'm no spring chicken so feel quite strongly about getting the nuchal test. However at this stage, I worry the scan may come too late!

allthegoodnamesalreadytaken · 08/12/2015 21:39

wineonmymind you can self refer to quite a few London hospitals I think. Just have a look on the maternity page on their websites. With my first pregnancy I self referred to St Thomas' and received a booking appt and scan date pretty swiftly

Hi all, loved catch up with all the updates!
Wine- is suggest st Thomas, or UCLH. Walk in to your GP and ask to speak to a doc and they will get you your appointments- good luck. Got my 7+4day scan with a heart beat of 158- 1st baby so I cried and husband just left his mouth open through out the scan. Is anybody working?? I work 8-6 everyday and I really feel it taking its toll on me- was dizzy for 3hours today and couldn't focus on my screen- it's been tough nobody knows at work- I'm waiting till my 12weeks. Thought I'd share a pic!

Thanks for that allthegoodnames. I'll check to see if I can self-refer.

Loki17 · 09/12/2015 06:16

Lovely pic! Congratulations!

pulpi · 09/12/2015 07:24

Oh lovely picture, Jackchi! I'm working 9-5 everyday. Concentration is definitely an issue, but I don't think anyone at work has figured out why I'm a bit ditzy lately. Only 1 more week of work and then holidays in Canada! By the time I'm back in the New Year (university, so we're back to work 2nd week of January - nice long break) I should be far enough along that any nausea (which is strong this morning) will be easing.. hopefully! Are you going to be able to take it easy over the holidays?

Cookiesandcoffee · 09/12/2015 07:52

* Lovely scn photo jackchi* thank you for sharing! I just love a scan picture! Will you get a nice break over Christmas to re-cooperate? I was thinking I would but then two dds and the festive season is probably equally as tiring! Look after yourself!

loki I really hope she sorts herself out. Maybe as she's young she's very immature (not to be patronising, I was quite young with dd1) hopefully it will kick in a bit once baby is here? I do hope she stops getting absolutely pissed though :( it's sad. Maybe talking to someone might help?

Congratulations on your nephew bluebel I love newborns so much!
I would say the money stuff gets easier the longer you have had children. Adjusting in the beginning to not bringing in the most/equal money is hard though, it took um quite a bit of work/adjusting here !!!

Kaytee1987 · 09/12/2015 08:21

Jackchi also working full time, take my laptop home every weekend and some nights too, it is getting a bit tiring now and difficult to concentrate. Even though it will be a different kind of work I am looking forward to a year at a different pace and not going into the office everyday x

Cheery1 · 09/12/2015 08:43

jackchi - lovely scan pick! Brightened up my morning which I am struggling through with a monster cold that will not go away!!!! Bleugh! I have nothing else useful to contribute as head so stuffy. Bleugh, bleugh, bleugh!

Hope everyone else has a good (snot free day) xxxx

P.s. Wine - weirdly good to hear that I'm not the only one with really late/no dates for appointments. My booking in isn't until 29th when I'll be 12 and half weeks. It must be a London thing. I've booked at local ultrasound clinic pre Xmas,it's near me and not as expensive as Harley St so hoping it's ok. X

Cheery1 · 09/12/2015 08:45

P.p.s I had to phone my chosen hospital to get booking date. Worth doing that to double check you're in the systemir that xmas post hasn't lost your booking letter. Good luck! X

Cheery1 · 09/12/2015 08:46

P.p.s. I'd phone your chosen hospital, I had to, to chase booking apt. X

InsufficientlyCaffeinated · 09/12/2015 10:03

jackchi thanks for sharing your scan photo, I've gone all mushy! Can't wait to get mine done, think it will finally feel real then.

Still haven't had a booking appointment through either. 6+4 so still plenty of time but if it's not here early next week I'll start to worry! Have asked receptionist at my surgery and they said they'll send for me so no need to book myself but it's been over 2 weeks since I saw my dr (got in at 4 wks exactly to discuss meds) and so I'd expect it to have been organised by now. I know they're busy and it's Christmas but it's my first pregnancy so I don't know what to expect and a lack of info is making me nervous!

Kaytee1987 · 09/12/2015 10:10

It's a shame some of you are having a hard time getting appointments. I went to my gp at 5 weeks, was given a number to phone and had my booking in and scan appointments then and there. Recieved the confirmation letters and some booklets a few days later. It's so strange the difference in service from place to place x

Ellizardo · 09/12/2015 10:15

Wine & crazycat - i'd self-refer all the way. Going via the GP is just another layer of unnecessary bureaucracy imo. I'm having Harmony blood test, viability and nuchal scans (the first next monday when I'll be ten weeks, the second on 28th when I'll be 12 weeks) all for £400 at Fetal Medicine Centre on Harley Street. Went there for my first preg too (also no spring chicken) and thought they were great and not for profit. However, it's worth knowing that St Thomas offer Harmony for free (I think) due to the fact their head of dept, a greek consultant whose name escapes me, is a pioneer of the technique.

Nice bean Jackchi!

Feel better Cheery! (Have you had a flu jab?)

Bluebell20 · 09/12/2015 10:15

Awh lovely pic, Jackchi. I am so looking forward to having a scan - hoping that I can then relax for Christmas.

I went for a really good swim last night and it made me feel great. I am finding the gym quite a bit tougher than swimming, but am still trying to go at least twice a week. DH and I have also decided to go on lots of long evening walks throughout my pregnancy, as sister-in-law dog-walked twice a day during hers, and she really felt that was what kept her swelling / aching at a minimum. I've been doing far less exercise than usual for the last few weeks due to feeling sick, and due to that long chest infection I had, so I really want to step it up again now as much as I can.

I'm very impressed with all the pregnant runners... I normally do lots of running at the gym, but my legs feel like lead weights at the moment! It is very odd.

Cheery1 · 09/12/2015 10:29

Elizardo - I've not had flu jab but I think it's just a horrible head cold. I don't have a fever. Apparently our immune system is repressed during pregnancy and so more likely to pick up coughs and colds. Might phone GP though to double check!

Cheery1 · 09/12/2015 11:35

Bluebell - I'm finding it hard to exercise too as felt so crappy. I had a great swim last but now so full of cold that's out for a bit. I'm thinking that I'll get back in to swing once I'm feeling better! This first trimester is supposed to be tough right!

InsufficientlyCaffeinated · 09/12/2015 12:00

Cheery1 I'm surprised at just how tough the first trimester is! I expected sickness and tiredness but not on this scale. Bring on the glowing stage

Cheery1 · 09/12/2015 12:03

Yes indeed insufficiently! I'm trying very hard to carry on with work, life and so on but today it's just not happening! Bleugh. Roll on the glow!

felinewonderful · 09/12/2015 12:28

Hello everyone, hope you are all ok. My legs are all heavy and achy too, it's very annoying. I think nausea night be easing off a bit though. I am absolutely exhausted though, doing everyday things seems an effort! As for glowing in pregnancy, this is my 3rd pregnancy and I have never glowed in any of them!

Ellizardo · 09/12/2015 12:51

bluebell - usually i'm a big swimmer too but at the moment my exercise regime consists of eating a salad.

cheery - head colds suck especially when you're preg as you can't take sudafed etc. feel better!

SoniaShoe · 09/12/2015 13:22

hello everyone. i haven't posted for ages i've been so busy. and tired! my nausea is definitely easing off now. its still there but at least i can get out of bed in the morning in a fairly normal way. and i'm staying awake past 9.00pm finally. so there is light at the end of the tunnel for you all it does ease off!

its nice to hear all the news and see the scan pics! the second part of my booking in appointment is next tuesday (I could only have part of it before as the midwife was off sick and the next appointment was a 3 week wait!) and scan on 23rd so hanging in for those.

10+4 today

pulpi · 09/12/2015 13:31

Afternoon ladies! I have a crazy new symptom to report: Migraine aura. Sparkles, bright, blinding blobs moving through my vision. Lasted for about 15 minutes. But then no migraine. A slight headache, but nothing substantial. Has anyone else had this?
