Loki I actually had a phone call today after my dinner out, it was the midwife from my surgery, I've never met her but all she asked was if I was on medication for the GD I had 8 years ago and who treated me
I was dumbfounded, how on earth does she expect me to remember that?!
I told her it was controlled with diet and then she checked to see if I had made a booking appointment
? shouldn't they know this, it surely should be on their records?!
I informed her that yes, I have a booking appointment on the 15th, that I will see the GP and take my weeks worth of readings for him to look at and she said I would be referred to consultant care after my booking appointment, that was it, she hung up before I could ask her about my high readings :S
My levels came down a little ( in the 10s) but 2 hours after the steak and salad it went to 11.1mmol/l again, I suppose even though the readings are high it is sort of good to see they don't spike a lot, its quite even, so I'm hoping maybe I've just got lots of 'left over' sugar in my system from 2 days ago and it will come down in the next few days.
If I get similar readings tomorrow then I'm definitely phoning the surgery.
The thing is, the only 'carbs' I've had today is the one slice of toast, any other carbs have come from salad and veggies, I've not had any sugar in my coffee and I've had sugar free drinks which is what Diabietes.org.uk recommends.
I was in tescos when the MW phoned me so I stocked up on fish, seafood 2 steaks for £6, stir fry veg without the noodles, steam bags of veggies and some low sugar beans.
I really want to control this with diet, I didn't even bat an eyelid walking past the cream cakes and pastries today, I don't care about that I just want to be healthy.
