Thanks cookies! I'm still finding my way around tbh. It's keeping me distracted while I wait for my scan.

9 + 1 Grin

Feeling proper sick most days.

redstrawberries101 · 01/12/2015 21:40

Hi everyone! I've just read all the posts and too many to comment on. The ones that stick out the most is that I am sorry to hear about your friend pulp** that's terrible news and can totally understand getting upset at work, it's the initial shock and despair. Pregnancy hormones or not.

Right so my main symptoms are extremely thirsty and greasy hair. Seems to get greasy so much quicker now. My bra at the end of the day is dying to come off as it seems like my chest swells? It's not tight in the morning but by evening I can feel it digging in. My face has broken out a bit as well. The tiredness/ nausea and energy levels come and go in waves. Each day is different to be honest.

Need some advice - need some comfortable soft material loose winter dresses/tops. I prefer stuff that covers my bum. Where to shop?? I bought one of those harem pants from next, really comfortable. Over my belly too. Think I'll buy another pair.

Loki17 · 01/12/2015 21:56

Check out New Looks maternity range online. Loads of flowy dress/tops that can be worn over 'over the bump' leggings. Amazing!

Ellizardo · 01/12/2015 22:04

Roseinwonderland- welcome! Glad to hear so reassuring and yes, this is DC2 and I've already ballooned. It's not 'suck it in/too many carbs' balloon either, I can feel my lateral stomach muscles have properly lengthened. Joy!

Ellizardo · 01/12/2015 22:04

Scan so reassuring

Cookiesandcoffee · 01/12/2015 22:29

I'm sure I can feel a difference too beneath the podge. Does anyone else feel like their previous baby build he is being pushed forward?!

mel Agree with loki about new look.. I got some loose fitting thin knit tops from H&M which kinda hang from my boobs and those teamed with a big scarf have been a life saver. They are long too (although I am v short!) but not from maternity. And like £13. Same greasy/spottiness here. It hasn't eased up either.

bel sorry to hear you've been sick. We have the same issue with our surname it's short and one syllable and a lot of names just don't match with it- I totally feel your pain. Do you agree on any?! One of our God sons stole my boy baby name! And it's also DH's late Grandads name which makes it even more frustrating

Welcome flossiesmum hope you're well?
Morning everyone, I'm so exhausted today, I went to bed early last night but then was kept awake by the bl**dy hurricane outside and my dog barking at the wind. I'm do tired I actually feel like crying. Really struggling with this exhaustion, I usually feel pretty bad in the winter anyway with the constant darkness so this feels 10 times worse Sad I feel bad for complaining, I'm so happy I'm pregnant xx

Cheery1 · 02/12/2015 07:58

Hi Flossiesmum!

Kaytee - I hear you today. I was up at 5.45 for a 2 hour commute to start at 8.45 Xmas Sad, not sure how I'm going to get to 5pm! Like you I'm so delighted to be pregnant but these dark mornings are hard when you add exhaustion and nausea. Hope your day is ok. Xxx

Cheery1 · 02/12/2015 07:59

Hi Rosie too!

Congrats to those who recently had scans , don't know if h posted pics but they didn't show up on my screen Sad hope u all have a nice day Xmas Grin xx

Mordirig · 02/12/2015 09:29

Hello waves to all the new ladies Smile

Cookie That is such a clear scan picture, beautiful!

Mel I've got the greasy hair going on and a lovely oil slick over my T-Zone each morning with dry skin around my eyes Hmm and a few under the skin type sore spots around my chin, its still a wonder how my husband kisses me goodbye in the morning poor sod! Grin

Did my blood glucose test this morning, was over 12hrs since I ate and my levels were well over the normal range at 12mmol/l, should be 5.3mmol/l
I was going to have porridge but I thought with it so high I would stick to mainly protein, so I had 2 boiled eggs 1 slice of toast no butter and half an avocado, will test later to see how that goes, if its still high I think I'll have to cut out bread completely Sad

Phoned DH and he told me to order some clothes online to cheer myself up, so that's what I'm going to do before lunch, then I think I'm going to do a proper meal plan for Xmas week and book a delivery slot since they go so quickly.

Hope you all have a happy and drama free day x

Woodsy81 · 02/12/2015 09:33

Morning everyone.
Hope you are all OK this morning and those suffering with HG start to feel better soon. I was having a look through New Looks Maternity stuff last night. It looks really good and great value for money as always.
I have stopped spotting/bleeding now. So starting to relax a little bit again. Still having bad cramps every now and then but I had them before the bleeding anyway.
I called the clinic about the harmony test yesterday and they said as I was only going to be 9+6 on Saturday they can't do the blood tests as I have to be the full 10 weeks. So I have changed the whole appointment including scan to Next Saturday instead.
I bumped into a friend this morning on way to work. I had planned to do some exercise with her this week and cancelled after my scare on Sunday night as EPU told me to take it easy (told her I had stomach pains - which was true). She asked me outright if I was pregnant. I was so taken back. I just looked at her and stuttered no. Think she could tell I was a little shocked (maybe a little annoyed). There is just no way that I can tell anyone else just now especially after the last few days and with MIL not knowing. (we live in such a small place). That's 2 people that have asked me straight out now and I have had to lie. Feel like a terrible person for lying but everything just feels so delicate at the moment.

Cookiesandcoffee · 02/12/2015 10:12

mord when your DH tells you to shop then that means you can definitely have a nice guilt-free shop. Rubbish to hear your levels still hadnt come down, silly question I'm sure but was it brown bread? Very organised of you for planning your shopping. I wish I was organised enough, I really should try.

Got my maternity jeans on at work today and so much more comfortable not to have them digging in. Serious falling down issues though. I'm filling out the 'bump' bit with Crunch Cream biscuits Grin

woodsy that's annoying about your bloods, especially when you have on prepared yourself it's going to be this week. Days feel like months at the mo don't they?! I think it's weird how some people just have a sense, and also think it's really hard to lie. I'm are they'll understand. The situations I have had to lie in are over text so I don't feel as guilty. People are so nosey though!!

SoniaShoe · 02/12/2015 10:20

hi everyone

quite a few people having scans now which is lovely. sorry to those still sick. i just have this constant nausea so really feel for people who are actually throwing up.

i'm in maternity clothes and have a really distinct bump already! i do have a tummy from before but i think its just been pushed out from everything hardening behind it. i'm managing to hide it at work though with long tops and scarves which i generally wear all the time anyway to hide my food tummy! so it just looks like i've eaten a few extra egg mayo baguettes - which is true because i have!

i'm still undecided about getting another private scan or just be patient and wait until 23rd dec. i change my mind every day. maybe i should just book it and be done with it.

Kaytee1987 · 02/12/2015 10:35

23rd December isn't too far away sonia :)
You said you were an HR manager didn't you? I'm considering telling my HR director that I'm pregnant but telling her I would rather no one else know just now. My reasoning is that I've already been out of the office at my doctors appointment and then require time off for another 2 appointments before I can officially announce after 12 week scan, I'm finding it increasingly difficult to go into work every day with this exhaustion and I'm sure my work is suffering as a result. If I need any sick time then at least I'm protected as HR know about it. What's your opinion?
I'm also in a form of HR but due to the line of work only deal with men and only remotely, rarely meet them.

SoniaShoe · 02/12/2015 10:46

i think if you tell your HR director in confidence for those reasons you might as well tell your manager in confidence for the same reasons. as your manager will be the person who is managing your sick leave / time off. unless you feel that you can't talk to your manager about it in confidence?

it really depends on the set up of the organisation and what your relationship with your manager is like. but what you want is your manager to be reasonable and understanding about the time off you need don't you? so if they knew they could do that?

how many weeks are you now?

Flossiesmummy · 02/12/2015 10:49

Hello Kaytee and cheery! Had some breakfast this morning and gearing up to do some work in my little shop.

Hope the sickness crew are feeling ok.

Kaytee1987 · 02/12/2015 11:02

I've never actually met my line manager face to face and he is in a completely different time zone from me so never knows if I'm in the office or not - he also wouldnt know anything about UK employment law. HR keep a record of sickness and absences and I'm not really 'managed' by anyone as such so it's a difficult one. I'm the most senior person in my team in the UK which makes it a bit more complicated.

Kaytee1987 · 02/12/2015 11:03

Sorry meant to add 6+3 - if I was to miscarry I suppose I would actually rather HR knew in case I needed time off for that or any hospital treatment - dont even like typing those words!

SoniaShoe · 02/12/2015 11:10

in that case it does sound like HR are the best people to know your circumstances at this stage. its definitely worth telling them so someone in the company knows as background.

Kaytee1987 · 02/12/2015 11:15

I feel like it's a jinx telling someone but don't want anyone to think I'm 'at it' and feel a bit safer knowing I'm protected wrt sickness etc. I'm due a big 10% bonus in spring but it's related to performance so don't want anything pregnancy related being held against me if it can be avoided. X

SoniaShoe · 02/12/2015 11:57

i've just noticed on the ultrasound direct website the price of NIPT (harmony) has gone down from £499 to £399 (unless i'm going completely mad i'm sure it was £499 before).

in any event, i've decided to save my pennies for the baby and just wait until 23rd

SoniaShoe · 02/12/2015 11:59

kaytee you might feel better knowing someone knows at work. they can give you some planning advice and it will give you reassurance. i don't think it will jinx anything. but there is no rush, if you don't feel ready to tell them just wait until you are.

BearStuff · 02/12/2015 12:15

Has anyone else got a bad lower back? Mine just came on from nowhere this morning and it's killing me. On top of the awful morning sickness and yucky, persistent toddler germs I've picked up from DD. I'm really really ready to fee better now Sad

Cookiesandcoffee · 02/12/2015 12:25

sonia it's not that long til the 23rd now, I keep telling myself I've waited this long it's not that far. Think what you can buy for baby if you don't pay for the scan, and some treats for you SmileStill waiting for my scan appointment . Angry it's a nightmare as I've no idea who will have the dds etc.

kaytee I personally would tell them if it's causing you stress , and what you said about having time off, but I do understand about the bonus. If you don't feel ready then don't, but you might feel relieved when you do? I don't know much about HR though. I'm screwed as my MIL is my boss Confused now we have had our scan I think we might tell them ... So scared though!
