I've got to make a batch of mince pies this afternoon that I've promised to someone (I make them every year - had the mincemeat made before I found out I was pregnant!). I seriously cannot be arsed to do it at all. It just seems like so much effort. I'm feeling like that about all the Christmas prep at the moment!

Loki17 · 29/11/2015 15:36

We've just put our tree up for dd and dh has pissed me off. He gets stressed and snappy and usually I ignore him but pregnant me gave him what for. I'm a lot less patient when pregnant!

redstrawberries101 · 29/11/2015 16:27

I had a pop at DH, half deserved but half not, first time I felt emotional today and had a cry to my mum. I also feel like my patience wears thin. Was also worrying about how I'll manage with a baby today in our second floor flat.

Thanks for the well wishes!

Going to Nando's for dinner, my favourite! I've been craving chicken so much since finding out I'm expecting. Maybe my body trying to tell me I need more protein.

YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut · 29/11/2015 16:46

My mum is getting on my nerves a bit. She kept asking if we had given the baby an in utero name (like bean, or pip or whatever).

When I said we hadn't come up with one yet, she went on to announce that she's started referring to it by an actual name (a girl's name, e.g. "Susan" - although it's not that).

She kept then referring to "Susan" in emails and stuff. I swithered a bit, but today when she did it on the phone I asked her to just stop it. I really don't like it - I don't want the baby to have an actual proper name attached to it like that. For a start, what if it's a boy? I know she really wants it to be a girl, so it's bothering me that she is already referring to it as one! And it just seems a bit...weird. It's not going to be named Susan!

She sounded slightly huffy, but I thought better to get it over with before it goes on much longer, especially since my parents are coming to stay for Christmas, and if she does it when she's here I might kill her. DH also really doesn't like it. Hopefully that is that nipped in the bud!

MissClarke86 · 29/11/2015 16:53

Oh bless you, that does sound irritating!

I've now managed to engage OH in two baby related conversations - one about names, and today one about finding out the gender. This is progress as he was silent and in shock for the first 3 days after he found out! Wink

He spent last night with his friend who is anti-children and has had a vasectomy. I was a bit worried he'd scare my OH even more but luckily not!

Does anyone else feel a bit in limbo? I've got to wait until a week on Tues just to get my GP appointment, which I had to book before I could be referred to the midwife. I've had very few symptoms and I just want to make sure everything is okay...and feel pregnant!

pulpi · 29/11/2015 17:05

It snowed up here today. Spent the day on the sofa with my knitting, drinking copious amounts of tea and wishing that the snow would hang about just a bit longer (it melted within a few hours).

Glad to hear you ladies had (mostly) relaxing Sunday. I am in awe of all you ladies who actually managed to get off the sofa today! We might put up our tiny wee tree tonight.. or I might just supervise from the sofa...

allthegoodnamesalreadytaken · 29/11/2015 17:59

bluebell that sounds mental! wish I had that much energy at 10am never mind 3amSmile Good to hear you are feeling better I had a terrible cold at the beginning as well and it's such a relief not to have to cope with that on top of other pg symptoms.

Good to hear what everyone has been up to over the weekend and it's all lots of positive news.

Been looking at prams today (wayyy too early i know) but I'm a bit of a planner and like to have everything all planned out early so downloaded the mothercare app to my phone and started making a wish list. All takes my mind off the upcoming scan and stops me googling random things like blighted ovum and missed miscarriages which I'm convinced might actually show up when I get to the scan aaaarghh! Back to wish list shopping sigh

It snowed here too Pulpi and I spent most of today on the sofa too. Have managed to do some housework in the last hour. My excuse is I won't be able to have lazy days once baby is here so I will be taking advantage of any I can have now. Back to work tomorrow after 3 days off. Really can't be bothered but needs must. Have had a lack of appetite the last few days, not with nausea or anything but just haven't wanted to eat anything I have cooked. No idea what to have for dinner. Confused

redstrawberries101 · 29/11/2015 18:39

You and me - glad you nipped that in the bud!!!

So we had our Nando's. I usually get the double chicken pitta and double chips but just got the single pitta today with single chips. Had this awful wave of nausea as I was eating and DH ordered the chargrilled vegetables. When they arrived I thought I was going to puke up all over the table :( not how I managed the meal that I had built up in my head for the past couple weeks :( feeling so so tired now I'm about to nod off. Just driving back to Edinburgh.

Cookiesandcoffee · 29/11/2015 20:31

Oh wow loki I hadn't thought of bringing dds to the scan, that's a really lovely thing to do. I think I might consider bringing mine to a later scan. I intend on having a gender scan (my grandad always gives me money for Christmas and I'm going to use that money) and I might bring them along to that one? I completely get what you mean beautician I was really hoping to do the same, but I think my curiosity wins. I'm telling myself how much money I'll save if it is another girl.

went for a 3 mile walk in the New Forest today with the dds it's killed me. Just inhaled some fish and chips in record timing.

sticky I think it depends on when you OVed and how long your l.phase is.. Were you charting or using ovulation sticks? And I definitely have days of loads of symptoms then they go. Even during a day I can be fine one min and exhausted an hour later for no reason.
feline my belly does the same- by this time of night I look about 5 months gone. Sure I fart it all away during the night Blush they say drinking water helps and avoid fizzy drinks but I'm not convinced. Even when I eat well it's still the same.
oh how horrible mord that really doesn't sound nice Sad hope you're feeling better now. Have you been sick since??
So so glad you're feeling better bluebell it sounded like you've had a really eubbish time of it. Can't believe you were doing 3am star jumps Shock you are my hero!
youandme I would be really annoyed too. Good for you for nipping it in the bud now and being honest. Who even calls a baby by a name name at this stage?! we refer to it by its weekly fruit comparison ha! I also think it's really mean of her to openly want a particular sex.
mel I'm gutted for you that your Nandos did not deliver. Nothing worse! Hope you get home to bed and rest

AndersArms · 29/11/2015 20:48

Put the tree up and watched Home Alone with the DC so feeling Christmassy now.

Although lovely feelings spoilt by DH being a massive twat child about his Xmas present expectations.

YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut · 29/11/2015 20:59

I think she's just over-excited Cookies. I'm an only child, so this is going to be her first (and possibly only) grandchild, and I think she's getting carried away with herself! I'm sure if the baby turns out to be a boy she will still be delighted, but I guess she's got a picture in her head of a girl! I found the name thing unspeakably irritating though, so I had to put a stop to that.

YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut · 29/11/2015 21:00

What's your DH expecting Anders?

AndersArms · 29/11/2015 21:08

A PS4 - when he knows I bargain hunt for the DCs, don't ask for myself, when he has no interest at all in the present buying/bargain hunting, even for his own family, and knows our income is about to take a massive hit (am main earner). Grrrr. His excuse? "You asked what I wanted, I was being honest".

Woodsy81 · 29/11/2015 21:16

Just been to the loo and had some pink spotting on wiping. Also have some pain that feels like trapped wind (it's a very minor version of pain I suffer from semi regularly). Phoned EPU and got through to a lovely lady who told me not to panic. As we live so far away they have said to come in tomorrow at 12.30 unless things get worse. She said that it would be very unlikely to get to 9.5 weeks and for it to be ectopic. Just trying to remain positive and hope things don't get much worse. Had a cry and feel a bit better. Just wish this pain would do one so that I could sleep.Sad

Rolly64 · 29/11/2015 21:36

Hello Everyone, just saying hello am 7 weeks, had my booking appointment last week and was advised to have the flu jab, has anyone else had it yet? How did it make you feel, am struggling with nausea and exhaustion at the moment and didn't want to have to tell my boss yet. Not sure he's going to be thrilled. But if it makes me feel even worse I need to prepare my dairy for a couple of clearer days afterward! Thanks for any advice 😄

Cheery1 · 29/11/2015 21:54

Woodsy - it could be nothing, really hope all is ok. Keeping everything crossed for you xxx

Bluebell20 · 29/11/2015 22:11

Woodsy, I woke up with pain a few nights ago, and it did turn out to be a whole lot of trapped wind. Hoping it is the same for you.

Cookies and allthegoodnames, I don't know where all the energy is coming from! Especially as when I went to the gym this evening I found it soooo much tougher than normal - legs felt like they were made of stone - yet now it's time for bed and all I want to do is run around! Argh!

Youandme, I would go nuts if someone started trying to call it their own name... Good on you for saying a firm no.

Anders, argh, sounds like someone needs their expectations managed!!!

Mordirig · 29/11/2015 23:18

Cookies No, haven't been sick since, some indigestion but that's normal for me. I shouldn't complain really, my stomach is usually made of steel! My appetite has reduced dramatically these last few months though, find I can't eat with other people in general, the sound of other people chewing makes me feel sick and irritable (weird I know, can't explain it any other way) and puts me off my own food.
Having to make myself eat breakfast since pg though, I would rather have a few hot drinks than eat but that's not good.

On the subject of food, what meat has everyone decided on for Christmas?
I usually do a ham along side the main joint/bird but I can't decide, the only thing is none of us like Turkey so that's out and last year we had Beef.
Any suggestions/recipes welcome :)

Kaytee1987 · 30/11/2015 07:41

Mordirig we usually do a turkey crown cooked in sliced oranges, gammon cooked in coke and a beef sirloin so everyone has a bit of everything :) xx

Cookiesandcoffee · 30/11/2015 07:47

woodsy hoping it's nothing for you. Sounds identical to what I had last week and all that has continued are the pains which I do think are wind. Keep us posted. I didn't have the guts to call the EPU so good on you.
kaytee can I come to yours for Christmas dinner?! We normally have turkey and beef at the in laws and its traditional but well cooked. Might have to stay clear of the beef as FiL cooks it quite rare (which I LOVE) but feel I should avoid?

Kaytee1987 · 30/11/2015 08:17

Cookies the more the merrier! I love my beef medium / rare too so I don't think I'll be having any of it this Christmas. My DH family were round for dinner last night and when they were leaving mil touched my stomach and asked if there was anything going on in there yet. We've not told her yet, so hard to lie to someone's face lol and yes bit inappropriate of her but she doesn't mean any harm.

Jo6526 · 30/11/2015 08:49

Really struggling to get up in the morning! I am constantly tired! I'm holding off telling my work until I'm nearer 20 weeks if I can.

When is everyone else telling work?

Jo6526 · 30/11/2015 08:53

Christmas we're having turkey crown and ham!

Everyone organised with their Christmas shopping?

Kaytee1987 · 30/11/2015 08:56

Jo I will tell my work at 12 weeks, I will find it too hard to keep quiet after that. Will be difficult with Christmas lunches and stuff already tbh.
Only bought my DH presents so far but know what we're getting for everyone else.
