whoknew I have been given no info & consider myself to know v little. Moving house in 2 weeks so intrigued to know how care differs out of London!

Mawsymoo · 01/12/2015 21:31

Flowers to everyone who's tired or dealing with stubborn people or worried about lack of information.

32+1 here and feeling pretty exhausted too. I'm feeling a bit overstretched between work and DS and house-related crap. I wish someone would just swoop in, send me to a hotel for a week, and when I came home the painter and electrician would be gone and someone with more style than me would have finished the unpacking, tidied up, hung pictures and done all the rest of the "finishing touches" that I couldn't be arsed with at the moment. Oh, and all the outstanding furniture would be delivered too. Meanwhile my boss would just tell me I'd done enough and to take myself off home to rest, and DM would just go and do all my Christmas shopping for me so I don't have to go near the shops. Then all I would have to concentrate on is DS and myself! Bliss!

Ah well, back to reality and better get my lunch ready for tomorrow...

haquoi123 · 01/12/2015 21:39

Oh bollocks, I posted but it didn't show up. whoknew and mawsy I've been told at hypnobirthing that the birth preferences talk happens at 36 weeks. It sucks that your not getting the info you need though.

mawsy I really hope that your wish comes true at least a little.

Sorry, whoknew and fox!

Mawsymoo · 01/12/2015 21:45

haquoi wouldn't that be nice! None of it seems too likely though! I've nothing to complain about really I think I have a weird hormonal need for everything to be perfect and it's just not possible so I need to get over it!

MaisieDotes · 01/12/2015 22:29

mawsy I'm in my house since 2010 (also lived here from 2002- 2005, long story) and I still haven't done finishing touches Blush

I am crap at making a commitment to wall art and objects and stuff.

Rufus200 · 01/12/2015 23:07

mawsy I to would like a visit from the painting fairy, interior design fairy, delivery fairy and Christmas shopping fairy. Poof, some glitter sparkles and everything is magically done. At the moment everywhere there are half full boxes of things I've started to pack. Spent 2hrs this afternoon on the sofa with the tv off as I just didn't have the energy to move. I can't make a decision about anything and just wail for someone else to do it. The sky man made me choose between a black cable or a white one, the white one would look good against the skirting board but terrible round the outside of the house, the black one the opposite. It was an end of the world decision as far as I was concerned!

Mawsymoo · 02/12/2015 07:22

Ah Rufus who's your sister (as we say over here!). I'm the exact same with decisions and had an almost identical conversation with the man who fitted wooden floors in the kids rooms. "Would you like white or wooden beading?" he asked. I asked which was more popular. He said it was 50:50. I thought and said "white then - it will be nice with the skirting boards". He said "oh but it will look bad around the wardrobes". Fine - then wood. Why did you ask me in the first place?!!!. Choosing paint was another nightmare even though we went for neutral-type colours. I had to point at colours on the card and judge the painters face! I know they want me to decide so I can't complain afterwards but I DON'T KNOW! My old house was all magnolia!

I think once I get the painter gone I'll just try to get the pictures we already have unpacked and hung and then leave it. The Christmas decorations will be going up in the next couple of weeks anyway so that will liven the place up til the new year!

I went on a crazy nesting spree from around 24 weeks on when I was pregnant with DS. I threw out/charity-shopped anything that wasn't bolted down and cleaned like a crazy person. I had an excel schedule for me and DH so that we knew what we were doing every weekend! I think that's what's going on this time - I have a compulsion to have everything "just so" and it's not possible so it's stressing me out!

Mawsymoo · 02/12/2015 07:30

PS - Rufus on the cable I would have gone for white as you have to sit and look at it inside! But either way I have a "thing" about cables - I hate seeing them trailing along the skirting board/floor so in the last house we had this squared casing thing that you stick along your floor right at the skirting and you can run all your cables through it. It looks much neater and in fact your eye doesn't notice it once it's there. I don't know what it's called but you just buy a big length of it in a DIY store and it has a sticky backing. We've a length of it ready for when we get everything sorted in the new house.

NorthernChinchilla · 02/12/2015 08:00

You all have my sympathies with the house stuff; we moved in January last year, so had a year to sort the bits that needed it before ttc. I can remember trying to paint fences at our old place when pregnant with DS and having to give up!

Good call re the decorations mawsy, very practical solution for the month!

Our tree is up and ready to be decorated, DS beside himself with excitement Grin

Whoknewitcouldbeso · 02/12/2015 09:06

We have the decorators coming on Monday to do the room the baby will initially be in with me and make a start on the landing. Then in the Spring ie when baby is a few months old we are having the kitchen/diner ripped out and a wall taken out. I'm horrified just thinking about it but I'm hoping I can be out the house a lot and just leave them to it.

MaryEllen1 · 02/12/2015 10:45

I feel for you all with the decorators in and DIY to do sounds very tiring and stressful!

Not been on for a bit as have been busy with work so by the time I get in its straight to bed for me.

Quick update, had the GTT test and results came back as normal so that was good and at midwife appt today bump is measuring as it should be so that's good.

Also had a 4D scan done, baby had hands and feet in front of his face so after three attempts and jumping and walking about we had to give up and go back two days later which we did, he as still being awkward but we managed to get a couple of face shots even though my placenta and his feet and hands were still getting in the way Grin

clarabellski · 02/12/2015 15:44

Cute pic maryellen! Looks like they're sucking their thumb!

Silly movement-related question: Has anyone ever felt the movements to be painful as in 'hitting a nerve'/electric shock type feeling? Just got properly booted to the right of my belly button and it actually made me exclaim out loud. It came out of nowhere as well...

MaisieDotes · 02/12/2015 19:30

Fab scan pic Maryellen! The 4D scans are amazing.

RattyCatty · 02/12/2015 19:46

maryelen v cute pic! We have a babybond growth scan on Sat (haven't seen a midwife for 3 weeks & no idea when I next will with moving hospitals!) but don't think it's 4d!

clara I've had a few painful jabs yes!

madsaz76 · 02/12/2015 20:14

lovely pic maryellen. I enjoyed the 3D scan so much more than any of the other pregnancy bits.

yes I have had the electric feeling. usually a really sharp well placed punch/ kick - once in my liver, the rest around my cervix. Very ouchy. Don't know if its to do with where, or the how the blow is placed.

I also feel like I have done 100 sit ups by evening - baby is pretty much sitting all on the right so bump is asymmetric and the muscles I think are just moaning at me. I really wish when I was losing all my weight I'd done a bit more core work before getting up the duff....

IslaMann · 02/12/2015 20:21

I can sympathise with the jabby pains, baby seems to know which nerve to attack!

Looks like I'm joining those of you moving house. After being on the market for 4 months with the old agents with no offers, we've just had an offer 10 days after the first viewing with the new agents. We're going into rented, and our buyers are first time buyers so no chain, so should be quite quick but I'm going to try to put it off til the end of Feb to give me some recovery time from my cs. More stress than I need but no choice, XH has demanded I sell up as our DS is now at uni.

clumsypots · 02/12/2015 21:44

Lovely pic mary!

Went to see the consultant today, basically been told that the pain I am in is just going to get worse and they can only give me pain relief. They will probably end up inducing me at about 38 weeks if I can hold out that long. Felt really down earlier but being positive now and making lists of all the things I need to get done before baby arrives.

CalypsoLilt · 03/12/2015 08:48

Just reading some birth plan stuff, check out page 2

"shaving of the pubic area"

WTAF!!???

clarabellski · 03/12/2015 08:50

Oooh good I'm glad the electric shock kicks are normal (but sorry you all have to feel them ladies!).

Madsaz I used to do a lot of core work as part of rowing training and it has done BUGGER ALL in terms of helping prepare for pregnancy. The mereist hint of a sneeze = wee wee and any muscle tone I had on my body is soft now!

That's some news re your house isla and a bit of a whirlwind! If you can afford it, I recommend getting movers in to do all the packing etc for minimum stress. If not, rope in some friends and give them pizza (that's what we did!).

Flowers clumsy but that is good that they have a plan for you now.

TillITookAnArrowToTheKnee · 03/12/2015 08:50

I call the stabby pains Lightning Crotch.

clarabellski · 03/12/2015 09:01

Grin Till

Calypso that is a detailed birth plan! I must admit I hadn't thought about whether I want to keep my contact lenses in the whole time Confused

My birth plan at the moment consists of 'GET IT OUT, GET IT OUT!' - think it needs some work...

CalypsoLilt · 03/12/2015 09:16

hahahahahahaha clarabell Grin

Star God Bless the NHS Star

www.nhs.uk/Conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/pages/birth-plan.aspx

and I second getting movers to do it all for you!!

me moving house = 3 days, 3 helpers and 1 van
lovely movers = 2.5 hours and that included 30 mins of transit time Grin

MaisieDotes · 03/12/2015 09:18

Similar to mine clara , which is "get through it." Grin

That birth plan seems tailored towards the American hospital system calypso although I'm sure you could amend it to suit.

I had to laugh at one of the options re holding the baby:
I would like to hold my baby.... after he's been cleaned and swaddled
Shock Grin The poor baby!

MaisieDotes · 03/12/2015 09:23

Oh isla I missed your house news. That sounds tough considering it's not your choice. What an awkward time to have to move. Typical isn't it, after four months with no offers.
