Don't attempt it after a meal!!!!!!

Whoknewitcouldbeso · 08/12/2015 14:28

I used to love my Swiss ball in my sons pregnancy. Lots of time spent laying on it and rolling about. I can't get one now as DS would trash the house with it, or tantrum if I tried to use it and he couldn't. I just can't be going with the drama so I'm going to go without this time.

Will be interesting to see what position baby is in next week when I have my scan. DS was back to back and whilst it made labour excruciating he wasn't in distress or anything so I'm not too worried.

Rufus200 · 08/12/2015 16:42

Had my appt. Baby has put himself head down again, growth is fine at the moment but need to start metformin. Had the anti D inj, I'm a serious wimp but it fucking hurt. It got worse and worse the longer it went on and burned for a couple of mins afterwards, took about 30 secs to be put in as such a large volume, with me ending up with my fist in my mouth.

Worst news was Dr told me I can't stuff myself after my ELCS as I had planned, knew I would still be diabetic but apparently would cause sugar fermentation and gas, will distend my intestines and make my surgical cut really hurt and that I would really regret it!

Rufus200 · 08/12/2015 16:46

I had a dream food list, sausage sandwich with brown sauce, chocolate cake, McD's fries, carrot cake, blueberry cheesecake and my weight in chocolate! It was how I was going to get through the horror of surgery, the idea I would get to meet my baby and get a slab of something delicious straight after.

clarabellski · 08/12/2015 16:48

Ouch rufus! I feel lucky to have + blood group!

PREGNANCY GLAMOUR UPDATE my left tit is now leaking colostrum at night. I wake up with dried in crusty blobs on my pyjamas. Lovely Grin

RattyCatty · 08/12/2015 17:03

Glad head down rufus but annoying about food plans Envy

clara I've only had a leak once after a bath - it's mad!

I'm sorry if this freaks anyone out but you seem more chilled / organised than me - I'm starting to get really freaked out about giving birth? Is this normal yes? Don't think I'm insane but just worrying about things going wrong... Something happening to baby... To me... Incontinence? Huge blood loss? Not being able to have sex again? Worse?! I need to calm myself Sad

clarabellski · 08/12/2015 17:20

Ratty I think we're all feeling that to some extent.

Without trying to sound all hippy-dippy (I'm not, I'm one of those horrifyingly practical people), I really recommend the book 'birth skills' by juju sundin, particularly for the opening chapters where she explains what is actually happening to your body as you give birth, and the later chapters where she discusses things that might happen during labour (back to back baby etc). You can take or leave her skills for pain management - everyone's approach to that is going to be different and right for them. I got it second hand from Ebay and I'm encouraging forcing my DH to read it so that he understands what is happening.

XingXingFox · 08/12/2015 17:47

8 days left here too calypso and we're due date buddies too! I'm doing the bare minimum as just so tired from waking up constantly. I'm sure everyone can't wait for me to go! It feels like it will never come!

I'm definitely getting the nesting instinct. Have been sorting out the kitchen cupboards one by one and can't wait to do a house overhaul next week! We're probably going to be moving in the summer so it will be useful to have de-junked.

We've just got blinds left to do in the baby's room and I've done all my Christmas shopping except DH. Easy to see why I haven't been rushed at work! BlushSmile

RattyCatty · 08/12/2015 18:21

Thanks clara I'll order it now!

MaisieDotes · 08/12/2015 18:27

Yes to Birth Skills. I've had my stress balls ready since about 16 weeks. Shows my priorities!

MaisieDotes · 08/12/2015 19:14

Does anyone else's bra suddenly turn into a vice-like medieval instrument of torture at some point every evening?

I'll go all day wearing the bra, no problems. Then bam! Can't get it off quick enough!

madsaz76 · 08/12/2015 19:36

I hate wearing a bra right now. One back size gives irritation rash but going up a size gives boob trappage.

I'm also diagonal lie with head up. Really hope bubs will get on and move but seems resolutely happy where he is.

Anti d sounds sore - another vote for being glad of my blood group.

The whole thing is now starting to get very glamorous indeed though I have only 10 more working days to annual and mat leave which I am rubbing in relentlesslyGrin

NorthernChinchilla · 08/12/2015 21:31

Sheesh, all you people escaping on mat leave! I've had two days of being subject to internal audit (and as we're a small organisation, it's literally my work that's being inspected) and finished this evening off with an AGM for one of the groups I have responsibility for. Got home at half eight and am treating myself to a small but hugely enjoyed G&T. And because I'm an extreme glutton for punishment I'm working all of January too Confused

Yep maisie, fine all day but I suddenly 'notice' it in the evening, and glad to get it off.

I probably missed why you've got an ELCS rufus, but if you're particularly dreading it, not sure if there's anything I can do to offer reassurance?

DD is continuing her one-baby attempt to bruise me from the inside, using the power of her bum, in the spot just NW of my belly button. Feels like a knee is joining the party....

Rufus200 · 08/12/2015 22:13

northern I chose to have an ELCS for severe anxiety, it is the lesser of 2 evils as far as I'm concerned but I probably will have a massive panic attack in theatre and they will have to be prepared to GA me. I went completely hysterical in 2012 in preop waiting for my GA and back when I was 18 was pinned to an operating table by the entire theatre staff as the anaesthetist fucked up my GA. I may be the most non squeamish person when it comes to animals but turn a needle towards me and I become jelly. If the baby could be delivered by a stork or grown in a cabbage patch I would be very grateful.

goldmaple · 09/12/2015 03:01

ratty I think being anxious is completely normal. we know too much now (as in we know how many things can go wrong!!). When I start to freak out I just think that women have been doing this for years and we have more help/better chance then any of them!!

clara sorry to hear about the boob leakage. I am truly past the glamorous pregnancy stage as well. Finger swelled up like sausages, ankles gone, pelvis hurts. I'm waddling around...

I just bought a Doppler app on my phone. But I can't seem to find baby's heart beat even though she is moving like mad. Has anyone had any luck with an app? Did I just waste my money?

My nesting instinct has kicked in too... I want to buy all the junk I see everything that promises to make life easier

CumbriaMum91 · 09/12/2015 04:39

Hi I'm brand new to MN and due 21st Feb, wondered if I'm ok to "butt in", aka join the thread? :) I don't know any other mums to be (this is my second). Little blue bump with no name lol, anyone else worried about them being born on the leap year? Hope I'm not a week overdue...Grin (sorry if that's beeb brought up already) x

haquoi123 · 09/12/2015 05:45

Welcome Cumbria! Is your name a clue to your location? I'm based in Cumbria as well and don't know anyone who's is expecting in my area (although I've been assured I'll be fighting a number of people for my home birth!) And another boy! I'm due 6th Feb so don't have the leap year thing, but I think there are a few people here who might.

Boob leakage here too! although I'm so fascinated I try and help it along sometimes

DH is painting the baby room and moved chest of drawers into a doorway while he did so. My cat sense told me I could still fit through the gap (bad cat sense) and just about managed it but it was uncomfortable enough that DH had to come rescue me so I could get back out... Really am losing it.

Troika · 09/12/2015 06:47

Calypso and Xing I share your due date too, but unlike you I still have ages at work. Because I only work term time I don't have any annual leave to add on.

Also joining in the pain party, what I think is a bum wedged under my ribs most of the time, sore tummy, backache, hip ache, heartburn and I've started puking quite a bit again too. I have also woken with a sore throat today. Hmph.

Calypso just wanted to say careful with the codeine, I was on it for a few weeks before Ds was born and for two weeks afterwards and from what I've since read he then had signs of morphine withdrawal Blush I was on a prescription dose though which may have been different.

CalypsoLilt · 09/12/2015 08:20

thanks troika my (estranged) mum is addicted to codeine (very long story) so I'm mega paranoid about it. I thought it was odd that when you buy codeine OTC it says don't take it for more than 3 consecutive days on the trot, and yet the doc seemed to hand it out willy nilly? So I've stuck religiously to not taking it more than 3 days in a row (and actually there's only been 2 occasions when I have needed it) but yes, thanks for the concern, prescription drug addiction often falls under the radar.

I'm also worried about the 10mg of citalopram I'm taking every day and the withdrawal symptoms on the baby, but with the shit going down in China Town with Arseholio fucking off I cannot risk jeopardising my currently stable (ish!) mental health. oooooh I went all sweary then, sorry!

yay due date budies! high five

welcome cumbriamum hope you and your family are safe from the floods

ratty re birth/labour I'm trying really hard not to think about it! I just figure what will be, will be? Once maternity leave is under way I'm going to do some hypnobirthing CDs, vague attempts at yoga (which I did pre-pregnancy and have done nothing for 7 months) and bounce on the birthing ball. I'm sure panic will set in when I start NCT 30-Dec!

monkerina · 09/12/2015 09:05

Welcome Cumbria Smile

I'm so jealous of mat leave, got another 37.5 work days left after today! My work also has a use-it-or-lose-it policy which I was very confused about, but turns out the way they apply it means you only have to use the days you've already accrued before you go on leave- so as we're due Feb, would only have accrued about 3 days leave. They don't bother to write this bit of the rule down though.

We watched the Peep Show episode last night where Sophie gives birth, and DH learned more in that 25 mins (including what an episiotomy is) than in the 7 months of gentle nudging-to-learn to date. Can't wait to start NCT, he's going to get a shock!

Rufus200 · 09/12/2015 10:50

Is anyone else disliking their new boobs? I've already gone from a 32B to a 34DD. They sit on my bump, lost all pertness and are now leaking. I'm kind of disgusted by them! I know I've lost my pert little boobs for ever, mourning them! Why was I ever jealous of women with big boobs?!

clarabellski · 09/12/2015 11:20

Haha rufus, i was already a 34DD before I got pregnant! (but I'm 6ft tall so they're in proportion so to speak). I'm now 34E so wondering what size they'll end up once milk comes in Shock. A good bra is a must!

My SIL had tiny boobs (A cup) before she became a mum, they got mahoooooooossive for a while when she was breastfeeding, and now that her wee one is a year they have gone back down again to a B cup and actually, she suits having a bit more of a chest (she looked a bit frail before).

Welcome to the thread cumbriamum. I actually think it would be kind of awesome having birthday on 29 February! Something unique to talk about as icebreaker at parties anyway!

I'm not into astrology etc but we realised the other day whilst updating the calendar that my EDD (8 Feb) is Chinese New Year! Oooh! So could be born in the year of the ram (this year) or the year of the monkey (next year). I'm thinking ram given how much the little blighter keeps butting me in the stomach/fanny/ribs...

MaryEllen1 · 09/12/2015 11:38

Also another one jealous of maternity leave I don't go on mine till 12 Feb... Counting down the days

Agree about the boobies, mine have gone from a 34F to a 36G am not sure how big they will get if I am able to breastfeed may have to fashion bras out of hammocks just to house them!! Confused

Posey01 · 09/12/2015 11:43

Hi cumbriamum - my EDD is 23rd but by my dates i'm 29th Feb! Also think it would be quite cool to be born on that day - certainly special :)

I am using one of these to sleep in a the mo and love it! So comfy yet supporting...

My boobs look like udders. They were pretty big to start with, now they are 34DD. No leaking though so I guess that's something.

Decorator nearly finished the bedroom baby and I will be in now so I'm excited about starting to best soon. I have lots of newborn and 0-3 stuff to wash, hospital bag to pack. Cot is up, have a pack of nappies, have muslin squares. Can't remember what else we need but I know I've got to dig around in the loft for the baby bath.
