muppet, can't believe no one moved with you standing there. though still haven't forgoten trolley incident some time agoHave to say I think women are the worst culprits they either ignore me or glare at me... mom & daughter combos let me queue behind them in shops and public loos... seem to remember when i was little my mom always letting prgnt women/ old/ disabled and people with little babies go first-every one did, i think! am at home resting as my dp is working late tonight- no change there then and want to be up when he comes in for a change... might pop out later for present shopping-anwhere with large car park next to shop and within 20 min drive!

divastrop · 16/12/2006 20:44

you have to be in reciept of child benefit before you can apply for child tax credits, but if you get a bounty pack in hospital there will be a child benefit form in there.
i think(unless theyve changed it again since last year)if you are entitled to child tax credits then you are also entitled to the sure start maternity grant, which none of my working friends seemed to know about when i was expecting dd2,then one of them read the application form i had and realised she was entitled to it also.

i dread to think what my bp has been doing today, but my head is hurting.i did have to go to town though which is not fun at this time of year.

callie-since i had kids ive kind of stopped getting presents for any other members of my family.its too much like hard work!

If anyone needs it here is the page with links for all the various benefits and the grant which Diva mentions

this

Must go shopping tomorrow. Still no xmas tree here as DH to hungover to go get one

OCalliecomeallyefaithful · 16/12/2006 21:46

Got a Christmas tree today and there's that lovely pine smell in the room now. I must say I adore them. It makes me smile to look at it and we haven't even decorated it yet. I'm feeling very virtuous right now because I've cleaned the kitchen, including disinfecting the sides - however it was a complete slum before so I shouldn't feel that virtuous. If Kim and Aggie came to my house, they'd have the cleaning police around in less than a minute.

thanks for all the mat benefits tips.

Going to do the tree now - yay!

kittyschristmascrackers · 16/12/2006 22:43

Our tree has been trashed and so has the rest of the house

MossletoeAndWine · 17/12/2006 08:21

TheBlonde thanks for that link!

Diva sorry to hear you're not feeling well, hope your headache goes soon!!

Callieco our tree from last year (was only about 50cm high then) has been in the back yard all year and is now nearly a metre high, and is really, really heavy. Dh struggled to get it in on his own last night so we're going to try and bring it in together when it's brighter out!

Kitty what happened??????

Driving lesson in half an hour and then after that it's all packing for the holiday... yay!!!

kittyschristmascrackers · 17/12/2006 08:47

ooh Mossy, I think they call it children

LunarSeasonsGreetings · 17/12/2006 11:42

I think the 15 weeks before EDD is when you have to tell your employers by, not when you have to hnd the MATB1 in. Hope so anyway as mine didn't even get issued until after that - that's what happens when they don't want to see you for the first appointment until 26 weeks!!!!

ticklemepinkwithtinsel · 17/12/2006 13:14

hi ladies - time flys -

some of you may remeber me ( sorry i am Pinkranger) i was on the Dues in march thread at the start but sadley lost the babie at 10 weeks - Wanted to wish you ladies all the luck in the world with your new ones in march xxxx

i got a BFP this morning and it gave me the strenght to come on to this thread.

I will be awaiting your arrivals !!!!!!! xxxxx

LunarSeasonsGreetings · 17/12/2006 13:43

So glad you didn't have to wait long for good news. I know what it's like to be trying for ages after a m/c, and wouldn't wish it on anyone.

I'm dreading having to go to work tomorrow because I've got the worst cough I've ever had in my life - 3 weeks in and it's still getting worse not better. I'm afraid that no amount of PFE's could counter the effects that prolonged violent coughing has had Ended up sleeping in the armchair downstairs the other day because dh reckoned he couldn't sleep with me coughing, and now that's knackered my back too, so I can hardly walk. And every time I cough (which is most of the time) it's sending my back into spasms. Payback time for not getting any m/s I guess.

No chance of a day off though as tomorrow was a day I'd already booked as holiday but which they'd cancelled on me, so they'll simply not believe me if I take it off sick. 5 year old ds has been very sweet though and has been massaging my back for me - if he carries on like that he'll make someboday a wonderful husband one day!

Really hope this does improve soon, as I can't cope with a houseful of guests next week with it like this.

awayinamuppet · 17/12/2006 13:44

So sorry to hear about the miscarriage pink - hugs to you for that - but what lovely positive news that you've conceived again so quickly!
Keeping everything crossed for you now!

divastrop · 17/12/2006 15:10

congratulations pink.i think i was 11 weeks when i started coming on here so i dont remember you from the start of the thread but glad to hear your good news

my head is even worse today,i should ring the hospital eally but ive got to go there in the morning anyway so i dont see the point.i will just drink plenty of water cos that is supposed to help.i think the fact that the next door karaoke went on till 11pm last night so i didnt get a chance to rest when the kids had gone to bed has alot to do with it.

kitty-which children trashed the tree?dd2,although not even properly crawling, can move forwards on her tummy now and keeps trying to get to the presents under the tree.im just glad she cant reach the actual tree yet.

hope everybody else is ok.
whats happened to onilly?

HUGE congrats to you pink, fingers crossed for this time and lots of sticky stuff. That makes you due in August does it? My first was an August birthday, lovely to have all that sunshine and a new bubba . I'll be keeping an eye out for you on the August thread.

Diva, I think it was a gruop effort. The baby shows almost zero interest i the tree which does surprise me. She has managed to sniff out the chocolates and sucks them out through the foil.I don't think it was a deliberate trashing though, just the usual over excitment, you know what it's like .
How is your headache today? And did you have the karaoke mayhem last night?

kittyschristmascrackers · 17/12/2006 17:03

Also REALLY stretchy and achy tum today, back ache too, which is almost unheard of for me. Any one else feeling a baby growth spurt atm?

kittyschristmascrackers · 17/12/2006 17:05

opps 26+4 boy

Rosydingdongmerrily · 17/12/2006 18:09

Congratulations Ticklemepink! I wonder if the baby is pink too? My eldest is an august baby, so he was five when starting school and always one of the oldest which gave him a head start!

Diva, hope the bp behaves itself.

Kitty, my christmas tree decorations have been rearranged a few times! And I keep adding to them so the tree is looking more and more over the top, I added pink heart lights with fluffy feathers No christmas cards that come into the house survive for long.

Yes I was wondering about Onilly....

28weeks today (boy)

kittyschristmascrackers · 17/12/2006 18:30

Rosy, ds1 being August born had only just turned 4 when he started school and has always struggled. At 8 he's only just beginning to find his feet!!!!!

Rosydingdongmerrily · 17/12/2006 18:37

aah shame, yes I think we had the choice here. I think there's some research that boys can benefit from a later start.

kittyschristmascrackers · 17/12/2006 18:40

That's for sure, my others are all Autumn born and I have noticed a real difference in their readines to learn in the reseption class.

divastrop · 17/12/2006 20:04

im going to have that problem with ds2,he was due in august but arrived on 23rd july,so he will only just have turned 4 when he starts school.it wasnt fun being heavily pregnant in the summer but having a summer baby when the older kids were off school was so much easier as i had time to get him into a routine and he didnt catch any nasty bugs till he was a bit older and more able to deal with them.

kitty-karaoke went on till 11 last night.i couldnt be arsed going round there cos she knows about it now.

OP posts:
kittyschristmascrackers · 17/12/2006 20:14

That's a bummer. We live right next to 2 universities and they frequently have 'parties'. Last night it went on 'till 2 am

MossletoeAndWine · 18/12/2006 08:04

Pink I wasn't on here until about twenty weeks, but congratulations to you, what a wonderful Christmas prezzie. Good luck and hugs to you.

Lunar sorry you're ill, can't believe they wouldn't let you have the day's holiday, have things gotten any better in work or are they still acting like they were? What would happen if you went in as ill as you are, would they send you home or expect you to carry on straight through?

Diva can't believe they are still doing the karaoke thing, after she knows you are pg and everything. Hope everything goes okay at the hospital, and that your headache improves! I always find a strong coffee helps take the edge off headaches, but having said that you've probably already tried it along with everything else!

Rosy / Kitty, haven't even thought about schools or anything yet! March I guess would make him middle of the class age range wise. But who knows, depends who he takes after I suppose (if it's me, he'll get the brains! )

Dh felt Bertie kick for the first time last night, not a strong kick at all, just a weird movement in my stomach which matched with when he kicked. He was over the moon!

Anyway ladies, I won't be here now for a few days as I'm off to Chester later on today for a well-deserved break. Lovely country house, taking loads of books, big fat fry up every morning, dogs in kennels and cat being minded by mil, no housework....

This'll be the last time in about eighteen years we get any time to ourselves I suppose so I'm going to make the most of it!

harktheheraldfoxessing · 18/12/2006 09:40

Moss - have a lovely weekend 18 year eh? We've been married for 16 and I thought that was impressive !!

Lunar - how are work being atm??

Diva - that's rotten about the karoake - its so selfish isn't it? Is it still waking your LOs?

Kitty - your monsters sound as though they were over excited I can't have chocolate on the tree as DD scoffs it all - I remember when she was 1, finding all the empty wrappers hanging forlornly from the tree and DD's face covered in chocolate - can't think where she inherited that addiction from though

Jay - those pics are wonderful. His little face looks really cute

The Blonde - thanks for those benefits links, they're really useful.

Moss - I'm finishing for Christmas on Thursday at lunchtime - and I cannot wait!

Pinkranger - congratulations that's fantastic news for Christmas isn't it? My birthday is August, so its fab to have summer parties!

29+1 (boy)

MossletoeAndWine · 18/12/2006 09:59

Foxy, sorry, I meant it will be eighteen years from now (i.e. when Bertie's grown up!) Only been together seven so far...

Dh just taking the dogs to the kennels now, Merlin loves it in Kennels 'cos he's really cute & they give him loads of attention, but Arthur's always really glad to come home!

Right better get on with packing. Bet you can't tell I'm a very last minute type of a gal!!!

DeckthehallswithboughsofDolly · 18/12/2006 10:01

Pinkranger I am so thrilled for you! Many congratulations! Hope all is well and you have a lovely christmas.

Am sitting at my desk but can't be arsed to do anything. I have told myself once I have done my jobs I can go shopping, but can't be arsed with that either. Motivation required urgently!!!

Hope you are OK today Diva. How's the BP? And the headache?

More later once I have actually done something !
