Yes I'm going back, and no there's not much progress on maternity cover yet (other than them agreeing to it being UK based). I've told them that I'm not doing trips which mean being more than an hour from home in the last month though, so they'll need to sort someone soon as I'm currently doing at least one day a week a lot further away than that.

What I do isn't something that somebody could just walk in and pick up - they'll need some training/practice first, and I'm not going to the office they'll be based at (an hour away) more than once a week in the last month either. So they've got about 6 weeks to recruit someone and get them trained enough to start doing the basics, or they're stuffed!

Rosy, DT is gorgeous, isn't he? And yes he was quite fit in Harry Potter!

But seeing him as Doctor Who just made my day.

I have fancied DT since I was 19 and I saw him playing Touchstone in As You Like It at a theatre in Stratford where I'd gone to stay with my Auntie. I actually wrote him a fan letter... and got a response with a signed photo!! I've seen almost everything he's been in since then on telly.

I am aware I sound like a proper stalker.

Doctor Who has been my fave TV programme since I was very little. So put the two together.... you can see why I'm even more obsessional than ever.

I'll stop talking about it now. We really need to start a Geeks R Us thread.

3rdTriMossTer · 09/01/2007 10:02

Good grief Lunar they're certainly leaving it late aren't they? Well as long as you don't get the stress of having to recruit your "replacement" at the last minute, it's not your worry I suppose.

Rosylily · 09/01/2007 10:02

you are in actual communication with DT

eidsvold · 09/01/2007 10:04

I am only getting a new mattress as the one I had for dd2 when I borrowed friend's moses basket has been passed on to charity shop along with some other baby stuff.

I did find the bath support the other day and my beloved top and tail bowl - do you know how rare they are in Aus!!! and how expensive!!!! BUT i love using them for wee ones who really don't need a full bath.

I love sewing - making things for the dds. I also do any sewing for the kindy that dd1 attends. Makes me feel productive. I also do cross stitch but that has gone by the way for a while. Finished a birth plaque for dd2, started one for dd1 - need to get it finished. I will be doing another one soon.

I just feel if I don't get organised now - once dd1 is back at all her activities - my time is at a premium - along with activities with dd2.

I admire those of you working - although i did with dd1 - up until 10 days before she was born - okay that was the finish of the school year anyway. I worked for the year between when dd1 was and just before she turned two when we emigrated to Aus. Luckily we have been able to manage with me not working BUT i intend to do some study and go into early childhood special needs teaching of some sort - a big change from secondary english and history teaching.

Welcome Firstone - your local NCT may do postnatal teas where you can meet other mums
Other place to look netmums.com - should have playgroup info

eidsvold · 09/01/2007 10:05

forgot to add welcome firstone..... I am in Australia so no help to you with regards to meet ups

3rdTriMossTer · 09/01/2007 10:10

Rosy that was 10 years ago now. He probably has a "team" to reply to his letters nowadays

Eids what's a top and tail bowl? Am impressed by all this sewing. I did cross stitch when I was in my early teens but I think now I'd probably just prick myself.

Omg then I might sleep for 100 years! Mmmm... sleep....

LunarSea · 09/01/2007 10:16

Moss - I will get to look through the CVs and whittle it down to suitable candidates, and to interview and train too. But actually advertising and getting the candidates in the first place isn't my responsibility, so if it's not done in time they can't blame me for it.

divastrop · 09/01/2007 10:20

welcome firstone

firstly i have to say that david tennant is a mingerand i havent watched dr.who since he took over, its just not the same.especially with his very crap fake accent!

my head is killing me today but i dont want to go running to the mw yet again to be told my bp is fine(again) and look like a paranoid idiot.

eids-i admire your ability to sew.i cant even sew a button on

re moses basket matresses-i didnt get one for dd2 cos i'd bought the moses basket new for ds2 and thought it would be ok,but after what dd2 went through with the bronchiolitis etc i wouldnt take the chance again for the sake of £9(how much new ones are in my local baby shop)

lunar-are your employers in denial that you are even pregnant??

Diva nooooooo! Then again one fewer person fancying DT means less competition for me...

Rosylily · 09/01/2007 10:33

{grin] Moss that's what I thought when reading Diva's post! Can't understand it though Diva? A minger???

Rosylily · 09/01/2007 10:33

oops

muppetisacat · 09/01/2007 10:36

Moss - DT seems too much a slip of a man for me - in my present state I would squash him, sonic screwdriver or no sonic screwdriver... (there's several gags to be had with that!)

Welcome Firstone... not near swindon but try the NCT for meet ups too.

Off buggy shopping today - no idea what to get at all - has to be a 3 wheeler all terrain type thingy though as I have to keep up with the mad escaping dog. Only ever had tiny umbrella pushchairs with my other two - I think I'm going to be scared by the price tags!!

31+3 (boy)

eidsvold · 09/01/2007 10:39

top n tail bowl

use one side with washer to wash top half of baby (top) and use other side with washer to wash bottom of baby ( tail) can also use cotton wool.

It was fabulous when I had dd1 and she had to have an apnoea monitor stuck to her chest and a nasal gastric tube in her nose - meant I could clean her without having to bathe her.

Used it with warm water to change dd2's nappies - I use reusable wipes so one side warm water - other side to put dirty wipe if you need more than one whilst you finish changing nappy.

Rosylily · 09/01/2007 10:40

There was a really unflattering piccy of DT in some magazine I was browsing under 'worst body' And his build is nothing like my DH but I think its his quirky manner and twinkling eyes that appeal to me.

3rdTriMossTer · 09/01/2007 10:43

Oh eids that's such a good idea, and it's not expensive either. We got given a baby bath though, is it still worth getting one do you think?

Muppet I've always had a thing for "a slip of a man" iyswim! My dh is 5'8" and quite slim (although he's put on a bit of weight recently, think it's a sympathetic pgcy bless him!)

Rosylily · 09/01/2007 10:50

My dh has big broad shoulders and a fat round belly, he's my height so when I try to kiss him two big bellys are in the way

CallieNewYear · 09/01/2007 10:56

Hi all - Natalie's asked me to log in for her (I'm her partner, Jon). If you were wondering why she's been quiet, it's because at 7.04 GMT Monday morning she gave birth to a baby boy. Despite being 2 months prem he was 4lb 2oz and healthy. Natalie came out of it pretty well too. I'll pass on any messages you want to leave her (not sure if she's given her mobile no to anyone), but she should be back posting soon. Best wishes to all.

CallieNewYear · 09/01/2007 10:58

Oops - just realised she hasn't been using her real name here. I meant to say Callie.

Rosylily · 09/01/2007 11:04

OMG Callie congratulations!!! 2 months early, that's a great weight then! Can't wait to hear all about it!

3rdTriMossTer · 09/01/2007 11:06

WOW!!!

Oh congratulations!!!!

Glad she and baby are doing well, I don't know what happens with prem babies, they have to stay in hospital for a bit don't they? When will they be home?

LunarSea · 09/01/2007 11:10

OMG - our first birth. Actually having another baby suddenly seems very close once we start getting birth annoncements on the thread. Up to now it's seemed like something way in the future, now I'm panicing that it could be any time!

Congratulations Callie.

feedmenow · 09/01/2007 11:11

Yeah to a Dr Who geeks thread!!

eidsvold · 09/01/2007 11:12
