foxabout2pop · 07/01/2007 21:52

TheBlonde- I think St Thomas's will be great

Rosy - I've asked the Mum's on my local meet thread if anyone can do a link to suejonez's blog here....

Paddlechick666 · 07/01/2007 21:55

as per my instruction from the venerable Foxie:

Sue's Journey To Motherhood

and you lot thought the biological way was hard!

good luck to all for bouncing spring babies.

foxabout2pop · 07/01/2007 21:57

Oh BTW; did I ever mention that Paddlechick666 is the most wonderful human being on the planet?

TheBlonde · 07/01/2007 22:38

I have been following Sue's story - I really hope they get the passport sorted soon

LaidbacktoEnglandsoon · 08/01/2007 01:48

Morning all.... Have had a busy few days with a friend staying from the UK and packing up the house. The container comes on Wednesday to collect our stuff (allegedly ! - things are always late here though )

Can't believe I am coming back to the cold as it as been beautiful here since christmas. Have dug out my winter maternity wardrobe - which consists of one hennes cardigan. Will be arriving back at Gatwick in flip flops Will have to have a little spend up when I get back . Rainbow - hope your move is going ok.

Foxy - you are talking to the mildew queen ! A solution of white vinegar and water gets off some mildew and then an airing outside gets rid of the smell - depends if it is the white or green variety ( green is harder to shift !!). Everything I own has been mildewed out here and it is a constant battle !!

Back a week today !

Rosylily · 08/01/2007 04:43

I had to get up and eat! The wee beastie, I can't last the night without feeding him now! And he keeps getting hiccups!

Laidback all the best with the move, what a hurdle! I wonder how Rainbow is doing?

Fox my first double buggy had been in my sisters cupboard for about 8 years, I never got it completely clean and fresh and when bits started dropping off it, I was so glad I had an excuse to get a new one!

I wonder can I sleep now, off to bed anyway...

3rdTriMossTer · 08/01/2007 06:46

Rosy hope you managed to get some sleep.

Dh is moaning about me hogging the bed and is threatening that he will set up a bed in the spare room if I don't stop - and I quote "nicking the effing duvet and lying in the middle of the bed", er, 'cos of course it's deliberate! Lol, I don't think he will though the spare room of course is in the process of being turned into the nursery and our other bed doesn't have the best mattress...

Foxy - secret doors!! I'm so impressed! Can your friend come and show me where they are in Warrington Ikea?

I always see those ads in the paper of a weekend. Mine would read, "Blonde and busty but geeky, stubborn and with a tendancy to take everything too literally. Slight weight problem. Still interested? Call XXX-XXXX".

TheBlonde where abouts is Balham, is it in North London?

Kitty congrats on your Mum finally liking your choice of name! Even if it is reverse psychology.

Better go and shower now, sorry if I've missed people. Start the first day of my new job description today, the less stressful one, so I'd better make an effort.

OMG watching the news David Bowie is 60! No way!

3rdTriMossTer · 08/01/2007 06:47

Laidback forgot to say good luck with the move!!!

foxabout2pop · 08/01/2007 08:53

Rosy - hope you got some sleep in the end

Laidback - thanks for that tip re. the vinegar - I will try that!!

Where are you living when you return to the UK? You mentioned something about Cornwall?

Mossy - actually it was a maverick member of staff who showed us. All the walls have secret doors in so next time you are there, pick up a copy of the floor plans and then have a close look at the walls and you should be able to spot those secret doors and bypass all the boring sections (or all the tempting sections)

TheBlonde - Sue's story is breathtaking isn't it?

3rdTriMossTer · 08/01/2007 09:07

Foxy - secret doors and maverick staff? How exciting! And to think you get all this and reasonably priced furniture!

foxabout2pop · 08/01/2007 09:28

Ikea suddenly seems a whole lot more exciting doesn't it??

sexkittyinwaiting · 08/01/2007 09:40

I haven't been to Ikea for about 9 years!

School run today, spent half the night worried about not waking up!

Laidback, good luck moving. It's not that cold here yet.

Mossy, hope the new job description brings you a nice, restful day at work

Rosy, I haven't started the night time snacking yet, mind you the insomnia hasn't started yet, when it does then I'll be stuffing my face with cheese sarnies (yum) and watching the strange progs that are on t.v. at 4am.
However, I am racing through the gaviscon and I am having problems catching my breath today

I use to go to a pub in Balham, can't remember the name though, that's not v. helpful is it!
Mossy, Balham is in South London

LaidbacktoEnglandsoon · 08/01/2007 09:53

Foxy - will be in West Sussex for about six months whilst we decide where to venture next . Has to be somewhere quiet and near a surf beach to satisfy DH and DS1's surf addiction. So probably Cornwall/Devon. So a meet up in the South somewhere would be ideal in the next 6 months !!! (Preferably post March - maybe at the start of the summer holidays - whenever they are ??

Kitty - thanks for the Sussex weather update !!

Thanks for all your kind moving wishes..it is going fairly smoothly at the moment - unnervingly so .

Hope everyone having a good one !!!

3rdTriMossTer · 08/01/2007 10:51

I'm enjoying my less stressful job so far. No more vacancy / billings targets; yippee!

This morning I had a CV through from someone who "works well under preacher". Well, we normally recruit office / accountancy staff but I'm sure we could do a ring around of the local churches and see if anyone is interested....

Kitty thanks for reminding me I must put in an order for more Gaviscon today!

Balham, Balham... no, it still doesn't ring a bell (I was in Lewisham which is South East London, so you'd think I'd remember but sorry no).

Laidback, that sounds lovely, quiet and near a beach... hope the move isn't stressing you out too much.

divastrop · 08/01/2007 11:24

laidback-dont worry about the cold, everyones been saying its freezing today but in my heavily pregnant state ive been sweating
and it will be warm again by the time youve had the baby

moss-i didnt know you worked in a brothel for clergymen

fox-wap is(or used to be?)like the mobile phone internet thingy and i used to go on chat sites and forums on it.

kitty-dd2 woke up wanting a bottle this morning and i thought it was about 7.30am and i panicked..it was actually 3am though.the kids somehow got to school but im still asleep.

been at the solicitors this morning trying to sort out parental responsibility stuff for dp/ds2.i was told by another solicitor that there was no way dp would be able to adopt him but the one i saw this morning said it would be the best/easiest way to go.it will be great but the process sounds daunting.

oh,ive got to pick himself up alreadytime goes too fast.

laidback - hope the move goes well, and hassle free!

My knowledge of our capital consits of Finchley, Campden, Muswell Hill and Tooting! and that bit in the middle! Anywhere else I just nod when somesays I live in... Hampstead or somewhere.

Having a real stress this morning, its hit me that LO is coming very shortly and I'm waking up and smelling the decaff coffee... I know nothing about babies. only ever held one, never fed one, changed a nappy, dressed, bathed..

AmieR · 08/01/2007 11:35

oh.. Diva was supposed to ask, apart from being told you had High BP could you recognise any symptoms?

Boobooroastingonanopenfire · 08/01/2007 12:08

Morning!

Wish I'd known about your secret doors yesterday foxy. I was waddling like a constipated walrus by the time we'd finished (but I do love their meatballs! ). Got everything we were after except the changing table/chest of drawers we wanted. Oh, and DH reduced me to tears in the rug section by throwing a hissy fit because I didn't like the carpets he chose. Was very repentant afterwards though...

Amie: changing nappies is a piece of cake. Seriously, you'll be an expert within hours of LO's birth. I know I haven't had my 1st yet, but years of babysitting & P/T nannying have given me a bit of a clue.

Diva: good luck with the adoption thing. I bet you'll feel more secure when you've both got equal parental rights over all the kids.

I've not read Suejonez' thread, but have seen her posts elsewhere about adoption. (Particularly remember her comments when Madonna adopted her latest). Will sit and read it on Wednesday, I think.

Moss: Balham is on the Northern Line between Clapham and Tooting. Very near me, in fact!

Laidback: hpe your move isn't too stressful. Hopeully you'll live up to your name and just glide serenely through the whole process!

foxy: I love RUT College: lots of my best friends are people I met while I was there. Everyone was stoned the whole time, obviously...

Mossy: I'm impressed you've done a trial run to the hospital already. I keep telling DH that it's his job to sort out the route/parking etc, and am starting to get into a mild panic that he's showing no signs of doing anything about it. When my friend had her second a couple of months ago, her DH went the wrong way and asked for her advice on the route. Her contractions were 3 minutes apart at that point. Needless to say, she was not impressed.

Callie: I don't want cot-bumpers, but I think the cot-death link has been exaggerated (can't remember where I read that, so prob best to check on on www.babycentre.co.uk). My main reason for not wanting them, though, is that my MIL was despertae to make them for us. we have a strange relationship, and she's very controlling. If she could she'd choose everything for my first baby and not let me have a look-in. Also, she has huge bag-fulls of awful fabric 'round her house, and I just know she'd use some of that, and it would look terrible.

Anyway, more MIL chat later...

Boobooroastingonanopenfire · 08/01/2007 12:09

Sorry 'bout typos

foxabout2pop · 08/01/2007 12:34

Boo - LOL at the thought of those gastly cot bumpers. They always seemed a bit superflous to me anyway...

When you were at RUT, did you too spend whole summers sitting on Richmond Green like I did? In summer the whole green is covered with RUT students On the subject of soft drugs; I used to have a friend whose parents were very nouveau riche (i.e. loaded but common ) and she used to buy this really strong "smoke". I spent about two years attending her studenty parties trying to avoid the killer joints which were being passed round. Anything like that just made me feel like passing out

Aime - don't worry, it'll come naturally to you. I've learnt with my two that the best thing is to use your common sense and to ignore what a lot of "experts" who write books say you should do, as they all contradict each other anyway.

Diva - I'm sweaty too , its boiling today. It'll be great if your DP can adopt the other children won't it?

Mossy - I've just been helping my boss shortlist for my maternity cover. I want them to recruit someone who is good and won't mess up; but is not noticeably (sp) better than me IFSWIM . And someone who can spell preferably...

Laidback - school hols usually start around 20/21 July, so hopefully you'll still be "local" at that point? The bumps will all be 5 months old by then - wow!

Kitty - I'm getting terrible heartburn too; specially at night. Wine seems to aggravate it unfortunately

32+1 (boy)

Booboobedoo · 08/01/2007 12:40

I'm the same with the wine & heartburn foxy. Think I had about 5 units altogether in my 2nd trimester, and nothing since.

At least I don't have to go through any booze-induced guilt, I s'pose.

I spent lots of time either on Richmond Green or by the river. I always really loved the White Horse (next to the Slug and Lettuce).

I didn't toke at all at college - was too scared (wimp). I actually tried my first toke when I was 18, then started on the fags at 19. Only managed to give up 3 years ago.

When I was at college everybody bought 'soap' (those little cakes of hash) which, frankly, was revolting, and just made me bored and lazy. So never smoked much.

Love looking back at those days and thinking how lazy and happy we all were though. Look at us now!

Still happy...

foxabout2pop · 08/01/2007 13:01

Boo - when I look back on my younger days, I'm amazed how much spare time I had and how often I felt "bored".

Now I don't even have time to scratch me arse!!

Oh, to have the wisdom and income of a 40 year old but the body and looks of an 18 year old - that would be great

divastrop · 08/01/2007 13:14

amie-i would always get a headache, usually at the top of my head, and i often got 'floaters' in front of my eyes.when my bp got really high my fingers and face got very swollen.when i look back at the photos of just after having ds1 my face looks huge-i didnt realise at the time.
i'd never held a baby or anything when i had ds1.it took me 20minutes to change his first nappy and i found pushing the pram harder than driving a car.now i can change a pooey nappy in less than 30 seconds and push a pram one-handed.its easier once you get home with the baby and you dont feel like the m/w's are looking over your shoulder .

OP posts:
divastrop · 08/01/2007 13:29

we are only looking into adoption for ds2,he needs a proper dad and i would be happier if my xh no longer had any rights over him cos he was an evil b*d.the older two are at an age where they can decide for themselves what they want, and their father doesnt have parental responsibility for them anyway.

i also have the wine=heartbrun problem.i didnt drink a drop of alcohol after week 27 with dd2 for the same reason.ive still got 3/4 of the bottle of wine i bought for new years eve.2 years ago i drank a whole bottle before going to the pub
