Hi ladies.

Off to Ikea in a bit to pick up incredibly cheap changing mats/cot sheets etc, plus a fantastic footstool in the shape of a frog prince for me to rest my feet on while breastfeeding (here ).

Foxy: my Uncle and Aunty live in Richmond: The Hermitage (behind the bus station). I was there on Christmas Day, in fact! Went to Richmond Collge to do my A levels, so it's my old stomping ground.

Callie: tough call about your friend. A girl I know miscarried her little boy at 18 weeks (she was due on New Years Day). Horrible.

We have fertility problems (I think I've mentioned them before). I didn't mind if people casually asked if we were thinking about children, but some people would just bang on and on, as if it was just a question of making the decision, then boom! One man (new Dad) even implied I was being selfish because I hadn't had them yet. Don't really see him any more...

Meet-up sounds good. Maybe we could meet up somewhere further North, so no-one has to drive into London.

Must go - get Ikea over with. Hate it, hate it, hate it.

EDD 3/3
32 weeks
Boy

Fox I've been glued to sueJonez story for the past half hour! What a rollercoaster and cutie little kid. And Wow what an adventure!

3rdTriMossTer · 07/01/2007 12:45

Foxy maybe you could get a satellite link-up with us????

Will catch up later, dh is going to do a trial drive to the hosi today so it's flight of the navigator for me!

Leoladyofleisure · 07/01/2007 12:53

Moss, I'm not sure how the inline skating will go by the time the twins are big enough to take as ds will probalby want his own skates and will not be content anymore to sit in the pushchair so I imagine we won't be going very far .

Of course we will have a Post-natal March thread, and Moss, stay with us whatever! I think the twins will probably be born in Feb (ds had the same due date and was born on Feb 23rd) and will stick with the people I know !

very about the meet up, I don't think I will be able to make it , but if anyone plans on coming to Switzerland let me know !

The babies will move into DS's room when they move out of ours (that's the plan anyway ), his room isn't decorated as a nursery although we have put some pictures up on the wall which didn't seem to impress him much!

....have to come back later ds has just woken up and dh seems ot have evaporated!

divastrop · 07/01/2007 13:02

hi all.

london public transport doesnt bother me,i went to my mums one summer when ds and dd1 were 3.5+2.5 on the coach, but nobody came to meet me at victoria so i ended up getting the tube(at 5.30pm)to stratford, with 2 small kids,a large rucksack,a large holdall and a hand-luggage bag.since surviving that i am now immune to travel-stress

rosy-i am in the same positon as you except my first 4 pregnancies werent even planned,i just got pregnant very easily.it was awful to see friends going through failed ivf attempts and m/c's.

i need to clean upstairs(it seems more daunting now there are 2 upstairs')as i havent done it since before xmas.i think i may as well wait till the kids are out of the way,at least it will stay clean and tidy for a couple of hours then.

moss-it was somebody i met on a wap site.i went through a bit of a tart stage after i got divorced

oh well,i'd better go and brave tesco

30+4(girl)

Afternoon All.

BooBoo - hope you survive your ikea trip. I have a weird love hate fascination with the place.

London transport... another interesting subject! I don't mind it but not sure I'd like it so much with a LO! When we were there last weekend, we watched a couple trying to get their LO in a pram round the Underground! And Cringed!

I'm not too fussed where we have a meet up, I would endeavor to try and get anywhere if possible.

Muppet, I love Pointers.. that's a real cute dog... Much cuter than our mangey mongrel !

Diva - 2 upstairs sounds so grand.. but I imagine it is a daunting task! I struggle with 1 upstairs at times... well, most the time.

Didn't get to sleep untill 1:30am ish.. then at 5am I was wide awake again! Hoorah! LOL

TheBlonde · 07/01/2007 17:44

Hello, hope everyone has had a good weekend

I don't mind Ikea but DH takes forever when we go there so it tends to stress me out. Then when I think we are almost done he spends ages in the food hall.

Callie - I am in London so a London or Brighton meet would work for me

Feeling very tired now, back aching but hey ho the roast is in the oven and once eaten I will head for bed

kiwibella · 07/01/2007 17:49

Rosy... SNAP!! I feel absolutely awful today too - and grumpy too. Dh asked if I was in labour this afternoon with all my aches and pains (tbh, I wouldn't even know if I was in labour!!!).

Callie... it's ok. This pregnancy happened naturally, miraculously, a good 6 - 9 months after we gave up. Basically, we got onto the IVF wheel but once it began being invasive we really started questioning why we were doing it. A couple of incidents happened at the same time that showed us we were happy with life as it was. But, as they say... the best thing to do when you are trying is give up .

Fox... I love that Brighton is considered a 'beach'. As gorgeous as Brighton is, those pebbles are a killer on the feet

Boo... I did Ikea with my sister yesterday - she needed some furniture. It's amazing how much you can spend in there on funky nic-nacks. Silly me, I didn't stop to look at the nursery furniture.

We have just framed the b&w prints dh took of dd and my bump (in my new Ikea frames ). They look fab and I am scrummaging for picture hooks to put them up - as you can tell, looking really hard. Yeah right!!

Enjoy getting your littlies back to school tomorrow. I had to smile at a text from a workmate suggesting we get on a plane somewhere... so tempting (if I could fly ).

CallieNewYear · 07/01/2007 18:41

Muppet, lovely dog. And Amie's too.

Booboo, I like your frog. Something like that sounds like a good idea. On a slightly unrelated subject, anyone got a birthing/yoga/balancing ball? Where's a good, cheap place to get one from, anyone know? I'm covering all eventualities.

Kiwi, isn't it funny how these things happen? Brilliant for you after all that time .

I'll meet anywhere, but I'd be very sorry not to meet the northern and Irish contingent! Of course I say that now, perhaps motherhood will render me incapable of moving more than 10 miles from home... I hope not though. Foxy, picnic sounds lovely. Richmond is great, you're on the right side of London for me.

Thanks for all the m/c replies. It's actually her partner's birthday on Tuesday and usually we do something together for it - wondering what the situation will be now, whether she's either physically up to it as she had to stay in hospital overnight on a drip because her bp dropped v low I think, or emotionally of course. Oh it's horrible.

Baby having another quiet day. I do wish it would stop doing this and boot me hard in the ribs at regular half-hourly intervals, rather than keeping shtum for ages and then doing all its movements in 10 minutes (ok, I'm slightly exaggerating). I have been out and about this pm so I suppose I wouldn't notice much.

Now here's a question. I read in one of the pg mags, it may have been the Emma's Diary one, that you shouldn't use cot bumpers as they have been indicated in cot death or at least you're advised not to have one. I've never heard that before. I was just looking at some the other day thinking I'd need to get one.

Right, going to write a definitive list of everything I need to get/do and start checking them off.

3rdTriMossTer · 07/01/2007 19:58

Callie I can actually feel mine more when he hiccups than when he kicks, the former moves my whole tummy whereas the latter just squiggles in a bit of it. Bloody anterior placenta.

Rosy your jacket sounds lovely!

Lunar that's awful I can't believe someone would have to suffer so much just to get help! It makes me so when I hear these stories on the news about people being refused treatment for things because of budgets.

Muppet / Amie cute doggies! I would put a picture of ours up but I don't have a scanner or a digital camera so all my photos are hard copies!

Booboo can't believe that bloke said that to you what a twunt not surprised you don't speak to him any more.

Like your footstool, you are very brave going to Ikea, I hate the place, the way you have to navigate round the entire store before you can get to the bits you actually want to buy!

Leo if I ever do holiday in Switzerland I will look you up! Think by the time we can afford it though ds will be 21!

Diva I'm impressed by your London travel story. When I lived there I avoided the tube like the plague (used the DLR / Connex overland trains / my feet) and managed to hardly get on it until the last few months when I worked in Hammersmith and had to get a tube. So with a two small kids and loads of luggage? Bloody hell!

We had a trial run out to Liverpool Women's hospital, it was fine getting there but a nightmare getting out with the one way system. Still, it's the getting there that concerns me more! Also on the way picked up some baby toys from a freecycler, some are really cute!

sexkittyinwaiting · 07/01/2007 20:07

We we all in the big indoor play area AGAIN today, crap weather AGAIN, anyway there were some tiny newborns there, so lovely and it made me feel very impatient to see what he looks like. Hope he's not a baldy like the last .

Mad mother actually refered to the baby by his name today, I could have fallen over. She didn't vomit when she said it either. Looks like she's given up fighting. Unless of course it is some perveres reverse psycology wouldn't put it past her.

TheBlonde · 07/01/2007 20:16

Callie - Argos do those balls for around a fiver. Cot bumpers are out I believe, certainly unnecessary imho

AmieR · 07/01/2007 21:07

I don't know if I've felt LO have hiccups... or maybe I just can't tell apart that from the sensation of when they just have a bit of a hissy in there... DH is refering to it as Pele having a practice...

divastrop · 07/01/2007 21:22

i remember ds2 having hiccups when i was on the fetal heart monitor in hospital once-it was turned up really loud and everyone on the ward could hear it

callie-ive never used cot bumpers.i dont like anything with strings/ribbons on near a baby, and they dont seem to serve any purpose from what i can make out.

birthing/yoga balls on the other hand are an essential imoi dont own one but i spent 2 days sitting on one when i was being induced with dd2 and i'm going to get one this time and use it instead of a computer chair

Hi everyone - got back from my bookclub at 8.03pm and was very impressed to find DH had the kids fed, bathed and in bed!!!

Probably a result of me screaming at him, harpie like, last night that if he didn't get them to bed early tonight, then he can get them up and out of the house tomorrow morning

Booboo - I went to RUT college too though probably about 15 years before you LOL!

Rosy - are you able to do a link to Sue's site or her thread so people can read it? Its such an amazing story and she is an amazing woman. When Daniel gets back, our childminder will be looking after him (as I'll be going on maternity leave then) - she's very excited!

Diva - hey what is a WAP site? Sounds fun? Do you get to read men's CV's of how attractive they are? I often read the singles adverts in the local paper and they really make me smile. Mine would be something like:

"Long and fat ginger woman, with three badly behaved children, huge mortgage and crap job, looks for millionaire...aged 85-90"

Kiwi - IKWYM about Brighton beach, but they have the most brilliant childrens' play area with water toys, huge paddling pool, mega sandpit, changing area and chip/ice cream shop. Its a great place to spend the day with the kids in the summer.

Callie - its funny but I've never used a cot bumper, I've always felt a bit uneasy about them. I think they must stop the air circulation around the baby's head maybe? I'm always afraid the LO will get their head tangled up in them and suffocate.

Moss - We used to go to Croydon Ikea and someone showed us all the secret doors so we didn't have to navigate the whole shop. Boy, did I think I was clever using those doors to whizz around and avoid whole sections of the shop?

Kitty - LOL at the idea of your Mum using reverse psychology to put you off the name you chose, by pretending she likes it

A question from me:

I have got the old double buggy out (which is the size of a bendy bus BTW). It has a bit of fungus on it, so I've scrubbed it clean and then washed all the covers. Someone suggested dry cleaning them but I think the traces of dry cleaning fluid would be more harmful than traces of fungus (I will wash it a few times more)..

What do people think?

Discuss....

TheBlonde · 07/01/2007 21:32

Fungus is natural
Dry cleaning would probably destroy the fabric

foxabout2pop · 07/01/2007 21:32

Diva that's so sweet about the hiccups!!!

and I look forward to conversing with you online while you sit on your inflatable ball

I'm getting very uncomfortable sitting in chairs BTW

foxabout2pop · 07/01/2007 21:34

I agree TheBlonde. Whereabouts do you live BTW?

TheBlonde · 07/01/2007 21:36

Balham - gateway to the South!

foxabout2pop · 07/01/2007 21:42

I used to live in Tooting in those horrible halls of residence!

Rosylily · 07/01/2007 21:42

Must get to argos for a ball!

Fox I haven't a clue how to do links or anything technical Though it was easy to find in the adoption section, what's the thread? I'm leaving on a jet plane or something...? She is a very entertaining writer.

All the cute dog pictures make me broody for a doggy...

foxabout2pop · 07/01/2007 21:42

Furzedown I think they were called

kiwibella · 07/01/2007 21:49

Blonde... I was in Balham yesterday!! First timer and really impressed at the trendy area.

I have a ball - dh got it cheaply from a friend who is a personal trainer. I used it heaps when I had back ache but not so much lately (think it is taking up a corner of my bedroom ). Everyone keeps saying how useful they are on the big day.

Fox... I obviously haven't ventured far enough, we've never come across a playground . Actually, we were so tainted by our one trip to the pier we've always dissed Brighton since. I would be keen to give it another go . Dd will be needing those water shoes for her tootsies.

Hmmmm, you have me thinking about those bumper thingies now. They are so pretty but I never thought about them being a danger.

Dh is reminding me that I won't get up in the morning what a love!! Goodnight everyone.

TheBlonde · 07/01/2007 21:49

Dunno about the halls but Furzedown has good schools apparently

I was just thinking about Tooting and how much easier all my hosp appts would be if I was having this baby at St Georges. DS isn't good with stairs yet so the tube is a bit of a challenge

Ah well still hoping St Thomas will be a better birthing experience

TheBlonde · 07/01/2007 21:51

Kiwi - Balham has changed so much lately, we've been here nearly 3 years now.
