Rosylily · 04/01/2007 09:29

Pate has to be the easiest way to eat it! What else would you do? Fry it with onions? Make a nice gravy and some roasties? Or Soup perhaps? Placenta soup anyone?

Rosylily · 04/01/2007 09:30

oops sorry leo

harktheheraldfoxessing · 04/01/2007 09:33

Yuk!!!!

Leoladyofleisure · 04/01/2007 09:35

Moss ! Are your contracted hours 48 per week?

I did read somewhere that placenta tastes like liver, so could be nice with some fried onions (runs quickly ot the bathroom to throw up!)

sexkittyinwaiting · 04/01/2007 09:37

hello all, sorry, haven't time to read all your many posts!!
just wanted to say a congrats to Piffle on the blue shirt, lots of boys here aren't there?

3rdTriMossTer · 04/01/2007 09:43

Leo they certainly are. We had to sign the 48 hour opt out thingy. Well I say "had to" of course you don't "have to" do anything but ykwim.

They won't let anyone work from home because they are frightened of people running off with the client / candidate database and either setting up on their own or selling the info to a rival. (It has happened, to be fair.)

It's the commute that's the killer though rather than the hours (although they're not great!)

I'm going to say something next Wednesday along the lines of "I know I said I'd go off at the end of February but after last night's late I am knackered and can't keep doing this. Can you reduce my hours, or do I have to go off on maternity leave earlier?" and leave the ball in their court.

Better go the boss is going to ask me what my plan is for the day. I feel so looked after!

LunarSea · 04/01/2007 09:53

So how big does baby have to be before they make you take a GTT? ds was 9lb 2oz, and this one is apparently on course to be bigger than that - so I guess that might be in store for me too.

3rdTriMossTer · 04/01/2007 10:44

Wouldn't have a clue I'm afraid Lunar.

How are your employers behaving towards you these days?

Right I've done my five most effective calls now. I have to make twenty five calls all together. So I suppose that makes the next twenty pointless (well if they're not effective?)

Off to make some pointless calls now!

sexkittyinwaiting · 04/01/2007 11:21

It's tricky Lunar as it's so difficult to actually predict a baby's size. With the last for example I was told that she wasn't going to be any great size and infact she was 9lb 2oz, so much for thatone then. I have also heard of women who have been told they are big and are going to have whoppers and then the baby's turn up a completely average weight. Here they do the glucose test anyway.
I've always measured spot on for my weeks and I've had babies vary in size from 6lb 10oz to 9lb 2 oz !!

sexkittyinwaiting · 04/01/2007 11:22

Sorry didn't mean baby's meant babies

3rdTriMossTer · 04/01/2007 12:38

Arrgh my meeting's been brought forward to two o'clock today!

If you do get chance could you take a peek at this and "vote"?

Thanks ever so!!

muppetisacat · 04/01/2007 13:51

Jay - your christmas sounds horrendous - can't imagine having food poisoning whilst pregnant - just awful! Hope you are on the mend.

Rainbow - good luck with move - 'just keep swimming' as Dory would say in Finding Nemo...

Foxy - glad the baby has turned head down - had a GP appointment too - looked as though mine had turned head down too... scan next week to check placenta should confirm if he has turned - fingers crossed

Spent 3 wonderful hours in A & E last night with dd who had fallen off horse onto a previously dislocated/pinned elbow! Luckily we think it's all ok! Kept thinking - God - next time I'm going to be here having a baby!!!

30+5 (boy)

3rdTriMossTer · 04/01/2007 14:46

Hi Muppet, your poor dd! Hope she is feeling better soon.

Well I had my meeting and was very assertive. Well I say assertive. I mean I gave him the veiled threat of going off early, but with ever such a sweet and innocent face.

I don't have to do the late nights in February, and they are changing my role into a Resourcer, rather than a Consultant, but keeping my salary the same. That is such a weight off my mind. I should get it formalised in a job specification next week.

AmieR · 04/01/2007 14:53

Good News Moss!

Muppet - glad your DD was all ok, but ouch.. falling off a horse, can not be good.

Jay - nice to hear from you, was starting to worry about where you were. Hope you're feeling better.

Anyone heard from Onilly?

Just had my 32 wk MW appointment. Everything OK apart from the lower figure of my BP was up so have been told to rest more! I think I can do that, but she's not too worried as yet.. see the consultant in 2 weeks.

She pointed out how LO was lying and now understand why a visit to the toilet occurs so often, their head is right on it at the moment.. and it does so appear I've spent the last few nights rubbing and talking to LO's rump! Pee was fine, and good strong heartbeat.

EDD 1/3/of this year!!!!
32 weeks
A surprise package!

3rdTriMossTer · 04/01/2007 15:02

Jay when will your photos be up?

Amie how awful having to rest more! And it's official, too! Joking aside hope your bp is just a brief blip though.

You know, I'm in such a good mood now after my meeting going so well I might go and make everyone in the office a brew.

And here's one of my colleagues drinking it

Boobooroastingonanopenfire · 04/01/2007 16:14

Mossy: pmsl at 'your colleague'. She looks a bit like my Grandma... (theatrical family, donchaknow). And CONGRATULATIONS on your work victory!

Muppet - hope your DD's ok, and Jay: hope you're better! What a rotten Christmas! Also, happy birthday to your little DD.

Amie: glad you had a good scan. I often rub my baby's bum too: it's easier to reach.

Lunar: I'd been wondering about your employers too: you seemed to be be having such a rough time at work. Have things inmproved?

Callie: I'm just going to go with what the midwives say about the drugs. Depends how smoothly everything else has gone, I s'pose...

Foxy: I want to do a PHD when I retire. On Salman Rushdie and post-colonial literature, in fact. Just so I can call myself Dr Booboo, obviously.

Diva: the first job my degree got me was with a Jamaican music label. I wanted to get into the industry, and thought it would be a good step. Turned out they were pimps and yardies, and tried to get me to sleep with the clients for money. Nice.

Leo: hope your CS trauma counselling goes ok. I'm sure your DH is right; best to get it talked out now, before your next birth!

BTW, the vet didn't find anything in my dog's guts (thank god), so she's on anti-emetics and anti-biotics. Poor little thing.

As for the placenta question, I can't imagine caring about it once I've got my son in my arms. lol at the pate suggestion. Bleugh.

EDD 3/3
31+4
Boy

Boobooroastingonanopenfire · 04/01/2007 16:17

eidsvold: I wish I had the patience to sew things: would save me pots of cash.

My bouncy chair arrived today. Got this one .

Also got the Tomy Walkabout Classic baby monitor, and a cool travel changing mat for £9.99 (same site).

3rdTriMossTer · 04/01/2007 16:23

Aw Booboo that's so cute!

We got one given to us by mil's friend, it is dark blue with fish on it, but I don't know what make it is.

So glad your dog is okay!!

CallieNewYear · 04/01/2007 17:31

Anybody planning to give birth in Leeds General? Check the bed firmly before you do in that case... read this

harktheheraldfoxessing · 04/01/2007 18:28

Hi just popping in while cooking the dinner!

Dr BooBoo?!

Mossy well done!!

Just had a delivery of baby boy clothes from Vertbaudet and DS and DD have "claimed" the lot and are dressing all DD's dolls up in them!

Hi everyone else will pop back later when more relaxed .....

kiwibella · 04/01/2007 19:30

Boo... love the bright, funky colours. What a fab site too! Glad to hear the dog is ok and hope the drugs and lots of attention will do the trick.

Mossy... well done, you!! I would have said to cut down your hours . I don't want to start my leave any earlier than I have to so that it doesn't affect how long I can be at home afterwards. Your Princess Di comment is brilliant. (and, you have such good looking work mates!!!)

Muppet... poor your dd - hope she's feeling ok now and the arm isn't painful. I love the advice for Rainbow, "just keep swimming". I think I'll adopt that!!

Hope you and your ds survived today, Leo, after being up during the night.

I also saw the mw today and everything is looking good - head down and heart beating steadily. We talked through the home birth which gave me a million more worries and questions. Dh is so casual about it all, bless his cotton socks .

I have slept most of the afternoon (stupidly stayed up and watched Desperate Housewives last night) so hope I won't be joining some of you in the insomniac's club tonight

Jayglebellsjayglebells · 04/01/2007 20:09

Hey peeps, twice in as many days, i must be feeling reckless!!!!

Still havnt caught up on all the thread, not that i am EVER likely to, to be honest!!

Boo glad to hear your animal troubles are sorted, my cat went missing on New Yrs day eve, due to the MIL dogs chasing him off have tried calling and looking for him but to no avail called round the local PDSA and RSPCA, Vets and cats shelter, even thought it best to call the council to see if the 'cleansing' team had found him in the road - but nothing, DH is going to make up some small pics to post on lamp posts.. really hope he turns up, hes never gone off before so i suspect hes either totally lost or someone is looking after him. Sigh , poor thing

I had the injection after DD birth and had no probs with the placenta coming out, in fact i think it happened in about 10 mins, some slight tugging by the MW but i was totally absorbed by my little bundle to care. As for eating it......[sick type emote] no way thanks. My DH thought about it and was even set on bringing it home to cook up, but he changed his mind when he saw it come out, ebded up taking a pic of it instead!!!! hiddeous. One i WONT be posting on the website!!

By the way pics of my DD first birthday party (yesterday) are now up on the site and can be found here

right off to sort out all my DD clothes to see what can be used for the DS when he comes along. I can see a big ebay selling auction happening!

Catch you later, hugs to EVERYONE XX

Boobooroastingonanopenfire · 04/01/2007 20:23

Jay - your DD is gorgeous. And your DH is quite foxy too! (Assume he's the one with the pony-tail).

So sorry to hear about your cat - hopefully he'll turn up soon.

Kiwi & Moss - glad you like the chair . DH wanted to get a beigey one, but sometimes I feel our whole life is turning beige. I want my baby to hae some colour in his life!

I found that website through Mumsnet. I read the product review of the Tomy Walkabout, and clicked 'buy it here'. I got sent a free Mumsnet gift with the stuff I ordered!

Jaysecond · 04/01/2007 20:27
