OCalliecomeallyefaithful · 29/12/2006 20:06

..but it has prompted me to do my pelvic floor exercises!

3rdTriMossTer · 29/12/2006 20:20

Thought it was time to change my name back, but that this was a tad more appropriate!

Muppet ikwym, I can't bear to see a piece of Christmas cake on the side, all alone, unwanted... I see it as an act of charity!

Had a bit of an oh sh*t stage when mil brought round all the second hand baby stuff! But I am really excited more than anything, just want to get work over and done with and then it's just a waiting game!! The labour was scaring me but thanks to everyone on here who has helped me I am not so scared any more (thanks all esp. Kitty & Piffle!)

I am only buying six months+ stuff, as I know that the rellies will buy loads of newborn stuff!

Callie I know this is tmi, but I'm actually quite at your bowel movements!! I'm on the prune juice!

OCalliecomeallyefaithful · 29/12/2006 20:51

Moss - love your new name!!!!

CallieNewYear · 30/12/2006 00:58

Changed mine too. Christmas carols time is past but it's still holidays so not going back to original just yet.

eidsvold · 30/12/2006 02:47

started dragging out the baby stuff to see what I have and what needs replacing. I seem to have given away more than I though but will start buying bit by bit to make up for it until the baby is born.

Mainly baby gros etc - have plenty of gorgeous outfits and singlets. Keep adding to the cloth nappy pile as well - we will have three in nappies then - get expensive.

kittyinwaiting · 30/12/2006 07:40

Callie, try not to worry too much about tearing. I have had 2nd degree tears for all my vag births and they have all healed up fine. Third degree and worse are rare.

Mossy, so glad you're not scared about the birth anymore

Had a rotton night's sleep, we've had fearsome wind and rain here and the windows were rattling and banging. I got up at about 5.30 and now i'm rerally tired again .

Rosylily · 30/12/2006 09:17

Really windy at night here too.
With my first baby he was big(9lb 2) and I was cut and had five stitches- wasn't sore was no bother at all.
With dd it happened so fast I had 'grazes' which were really painful for a while and I had to wee with a jug of water for a couple of weeks.
With ds2 It was fast again and also unsupervised but I panted to slow it down and had no tears or grazes. If you have someone down at that end guiding baby out...that's the ideal way to do it!
Must admit I won't even read those threads about severe tears....(crosses legs firmly)

kittyinwaiting · 30/12/2006 09:37

Rosy, do you think it just gets faster and faster? It seems to with me. I found the last one pretty unpleasant becasuse there was no build up, no warning. It went from zero to full on and I think I did 7cm in half an hour. My midwife said that you just can't tell. Maybe not, but the pattern seems to be that the more babies you have the faster they shoot out, which ain't really as great as it sounds.

3rdTriMossTer · 30/12/2006 10:14

I have read that massaging your perenium with almond oil makes it more "stretchy" and you're less likely to tear, is that true?

Which is worse do you think, to tear naturally, or to be cut?

Got a letter through from NatWest's Solicitors this morning... looks like the ball is well and truely rolling on getting the charges back, the ball is in my court now though so I'd better pull my finger out. Oh that money would so come in handy!!

It's clear & bright weather-wise here atm, but tbh that was a bit of a nightmare for me 'cos the sun was right in my eyes for my driving lesson. Still, if I walk the dogs now at least it'll mean I don't have to wash them after!

harktheheraldfoxessing · 30/12/2006 11:05

Mossy - love your name. Let us know what happens re the bank. I'll be following in your footsteps once we have the new mortgage sorted. We're on the verge of getting oyr mortgage offer now but the broker has left a message saying that Bank of Scotland can't nowe give us a mortgage holiday with the deal we've opted for, despite them previously saying they would. WTF???

Has anyone used a mortgage holiday - any experience of them?

Re vag tears - my first midwife stetched my "opening" during labour to minimise tearing, which meant only a teeny tear. It healed up very quickly. No tears second time, but that could just be from having a fanny like an old sock by now I could probably pop concord out now with no tearing

We bought all the bathing shebang for DS one, but for DD we just bathed her either in the sink or in the bath on my lap. I think new mums are a captive market for all kinds of unneccessary stuff. The baby grows really quickly so anything you buy will only last about 3 weeks in terms of clothes. But we had loads of newborn pressies with both, though a lot of people will also buy you 3-6 months and 6-9 months.

I had an OMG moment this morning - only 9-10 weeks to go.....OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!

harktheheraldfoxessing · 30/12/2006 11:16

ps New Year's resolution: to somehow "obtain" £100,000, through foul means or fair ..

Laidbackinamanger · 30/12/2006 11:26

If anyone sees me on a future thread planning to move continents at 30 weeks pregnant , please remind me it is a totally crazy thing to be doing.

Have been packing all day, whilst trying to entertain the kids.... it is about 33 degrees and we have had no power since 8.30 am - about 8 hours ago !!

Moss\Callie ... I had a small tear with DS1 - healed fine and a 3rd degree tear with DS2 as he was big and had a shoulder dystocia (basically got stuck ) TBH there is so much going on that I didn't notice. Had stitches with both and no problems with continence etc. Perineal massage can be helpful and is great if you can get your man to do it

CallieNewYear · 30/12/2006 11:52

Thanks to all for reassuring words about tearing. I'm staying firmly away from any threads of that nature from now on.

Laidback, when are you actually moving? Best of luck with packing - can't imagine having to do more than clear one room, let alone a house - and never mind moving it thousands of miles.... Respect. But do enjoy the sun while you can.

Mossy, on the toilet front - oh well, we all have different things to cope with! I wonder if there's anybody out there (in the world, at all) who has gone through a pregnancy without being affected by sickness/excess toileting/no toileting/insomnia/backache/indigestion, not to mention all the worse things I know people can get? I'd really hate to meet them if so!

Morocco, if you are reading, hope the news on your mum was encouraging. Thinking of you.

Got ahead of myself with my days yesterday - I'm 30+2 today.

Laidbackinamanger · 30/12/2006 11:58

Callie - moving on 14th January - but all of our stuff is being loaded into a container for shipping on 7th Jan aggghhhh .... a week to go

29 + 6 boy

divastrop · 30/12/2006 12:10

im back...

glad thats over with!my bp was high when i first went in yesterday but it was fine the rest of the time.the doctor said i could go home and i was legging it down the corridor 5 mins later.

eveything was fine when i got home although dp is very tired as dd2 kept him up most of the night.

talking of MOG moments...theres nothing quite like the sound of women in the early stages of labour and the cries of newborn babies to make you realise youre going to have a baby quite soon.i was at all the women actually having their babies though, when ive still got over 2 months to go.

i dont even know what i need for this baby...when i was expecting dd2 i had a list on the fridge from about week 27 and was highly organised.

hope everyones ok

hi diva, glad all is ok for you. am avoiding all threads re tears - hav got almond oi by bed- good for cuticles- however not sure re round my bits. did read how to do perineal massage on babycentre- sounds awful and v painful. had to lie down afterwards

agree re new mums feeling they have to buy loads of stuff.. anything with marriage or babies has got "this way suckers" written on it! we were quoted £600 for wedding pics!!! no thanks love, i've got a camera ... my friend has just had a baby, and she said, wisely, just get the basics, the shops never shut!

CallieNewYear · 30/12/2006 12:59

Hi Diva, glad your BP (if not DP ) was ok.

Quick question, more bodily functions I'm afraid - have just been to loo and
have found two faint streaks of blood in discharge. They were just pinkish rather than blood-red - do I need to be worried at all? I vaguely remember now that I thought there might have been a little bit last night but wasn't sure.

Rosylily · 30/12/2006 13:25

Not sure Callie, it sounds like your show starting to shift??? but its a bit early for that Why don't you post a thread in 'pregnancy' and one of the doulas or someone will know.

Kitty my prelabours get longer each time but I suddenly go to pushing with no warning and so I am worried about giving birth somewhere stupid, in the car, carpark, toilet or somewhere!

29wks 6 (boy)

kittyinwaiting · 30/12/2006 13:43

I don't know either callie, does sound a bit like a show though, bit early for that though.

Same here Rosy, it took 2 mins to push dd3 out , it was like one min they said I was only 3 cm, the next she was coming out

Boobooroastingonanopenfire · 30/12/2006 15:50

Hi ladies -

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas! Haven't been on here for ages - been caught up in all the festive cheer/family-duty stuff.

Had a check-up with my GP yesterday. She told me off for leaving such a big gap between appointments . Thing is, I feel better than I have through this whole pregnancy (thank god), and the baby's kicking like a donkey, so I'm sure everything's fine.

Getting very excited about meeting Jonny now. The day after tomorrow is the first day of the year our babies will be born!

muppetisacat · 30/12/2006 15:57

Hope all is ok with you Callie - could it just be the result of some over-enthusiastic wiping?? Perhaps the show could be beginning to break down slightly? Definately worth posting on the pregnancy thread...

Back to normal name now - New Year's Resolution to get this baby to turn head down and stop kicking me in the unmentionables

Scan in 2 weeks to check placenta and how baby is lying... fingers crossed.

Diva - good news about your bp - you must feel more reassured now.

30 weeks (up the wrong way still naughty boy)

harktheheraldfoxessing · 30/12/2006 16:29

Callie - hope all is OK with you down below. You don't have placenta previa do you?

divastrop · 30/12/2006 17:08

callie-i had a bit of spotting at 33 weeks with dd2,well i thought i was spotting but it actually turned out to be a nasty case of thrush and nothing to do with the baby.but i did go to the fetal assessment unit to get checked.

my bp did this last time-up and down, till 34 weeks then it was just up and up.its not so bad after 34 weeks cos theres not so much risk to the baby if they have to deliver early.

all ive bought before the birth with my last 3 was moses basket, pram(or buggy),bath(£3.99 from wilkinson bath that is!) and some cheap white vests and babygros from asda.oh and car seat of course, otherwise they wont let you take the baby home.

i dreamt last night that all the women in the maternity ward gave birth to small orange balloons and that i was chasing dp round a race track trying to tell him i was going to have the baby but he thought i was messing about
and that was without taking the sleeping tablet they offered me

does anybody know how safe paypal is?i really want this buggy thats only available from an online/catalogue place, they accept paypal but ive only ever used it for stuff that costs a few quid off ebay, and im not sure if it'd just be safer to ask my sister if i can borrow her credit card??

Well I went into the Town Centre and bought some almond oil from a little health shop. Took me twenty minutes to walk in, but nearly fourty minutes to walk back as I was so tired! Wouldn't mind so much but it was chucking it down!

I'll have to do a bit of reading on the massage bit, or make dh do it

Diva glad your bp is okay, you must be relieved. Did you tell them about your neighbour trying to make your life hell? Do you think the two are related?

Callie hope everything's all right down there. Agree with everyone, do a post on one of the pregnancy threads. Although as muppet says, could it just be over-wiping, as you have been the loo a lot lately?

Booboo nice to "see" you again, hope you had a good Christmas!!

Diva re: Paypal
I've spent up to £100 using it, have used it lots, and never had a problem.
