Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 41st grads thread... celebrating the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed!

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The 40th grads thread is HERE

The thread we have graduated from is HERE in its 55th outing. WARNING: they're all a bit kerazy not to mention randy!

There is also a Just Mumming thread HERE
for once your babies come along, or to keep up with the graduated graduates!

There is also a private facebook group (so it doesn't give the game away in your news feed!)... if you want to join to see photos of new babies etc, just ask in-thread!

HERE is the stats list, please update your own spot with any updates.

Just had a message from GP. Apparently full blood count shows anaemia, come and collect drugs. Yay. Will get some dried apricots too. Don't remember getting blood count done. Weird. Well, had 28 week bloods done yesterday, but really? Already?

oneyorkshirepud · 03/12/2015 09:24

Wow that is quick Honey!

Really glad you are enjoying pregnancy more now JC, you deserve to after all of this time! I feel the same really, quite happy for baby pud to stay put for a bit longer so I can faff about finishing my various sewing projects haha!

Jcandy · 03/12/2015 09:42

I'd be happy for baby to come whenever now really but think it'll still be a couple of weeks.

That's fast if the results are back already honey! The meds will definitely help

5hell · 03/12/2015 10:27

morning, you all seem to be on good form today (aside from usual aches n pains)

MW this afternoon...anyone care to take a bet on how behind she'll be by 3:20pm? It's quite good timing actually as I want to check with her about movements, they are still so sporadic I'd have difficulty spotting any reduction/change...i dont think i've felt anythign today, but as I really only started feeling a few things in last week or 2 I'm sure it's just in a different position (as i predicted, starting to feel stuff is a mixed blessing and just another thing to worry about!)

how are the epi-noers doing?

honeysucklejasmine · 03/12/2015 10:37

It was indeed blood results from yesterday! Stunned!

I wonder if its safe to assume I passed the GTT... Seeing consultant tomorrow, will find out I guess!

Jcandy · 03/12/2015 10:58

I was at 7.75cm at my last try but had a little bleeding so I've not done it for 2 days. Gonna try again today and hope I can continue! It's still 3cm better than where I started though.

Movements are tricky shell but if you've only felt then for a couple of weeks there probably isn't a pattern yet

pretzelpieces · 03/12/2015 11:10

carrot I had to go to a group physio thing before they'd consider seeing me one to one, so if it's not helpful in itself it might get you help at the next level up Flowers

pud re: cats. Is he thinking of storms? Grin

carrot/pud I'm doing a fear release class at the hospital next week that includes a tour of the labour ward. I'm more worried about induction which will start off on the antenatal ward, they reckon they won't allow DP to be there outside of visiting hours (ie overnight) and I'll basically be in labour in a big room with lots of other patients all there for different reasons eg pre eclampsia, monitoring, etc, with just curtains between us. They likely won't let me go home while the pessary works because they'll want to monitor me and I'm bloody not being there without DP.

I don't want to be induced at all really, but the way they do it just seems shit. A woman shouldn't be in labour on a big ward of people and she shouldn't have to be left without her birth partner. All they'll say to me about it is think positive and we'll cross that bridge when we come to it, which is not how my anxiety works! I know it's unpredictable, but I want to know the differenct possibilities/likelihoods before I go into the situation.

jc and fruit glad things are a bit more relaxed at the moment.

honey wow that is quick. Sorry to hear about the anaemia. I hope the meds help without too much disruption.

goodnessgraciousgoudaoriginal · 03/12/2015 11:18

pretzel - If you think of it from another perspective, women have the right to be in a ward WITHOUT being surrounded by a bunch of strange men they don't know, when they are in a vulnerable position and probably feeling very insecure as it is. Plus keeping everyone who ISN'T a patient out of the ward means that you won't get people chat chat chatting away all night when you are trying to rest.

If you really can't spend the night without your DP, can you request a private room well in advance (even if you had to pay a bit for it)?

oneyorkshirepud · 03/12/2015 11:20

Pretzel I would feel the same. Can your MH MWs talk to the obstetric ward to see if DH can stay with you/you can have a private room?

A bit epi-slow here. (Guffaw! See what I did there?!) 6.5cm, which is 1.5cm better than I started with but still a bit small. I will be happy if I get to 8cm as then I only have to stretch another cm in each direction if you see what mean? I figure the further I can get now the less damage will happen in childbirth. Lack of epi-no progress is the biggest reason i want baby to hang on in there for a bit longer.

Right, off to write the birth plan....

jellypi3 · 03/12/2015 11:35

I'm letting my fanjo do it's own thing, i just can't afford an epi-no with christmas so close. can't believe how close you both are pud and jc :) can't wait for baby pics over the next few weeks!

lil how are you feeling? i'm very excited for you tomorrow!

honey sad face :( anermia is shit. I hope it gets sorted quickly.

I have a baby shower at work today. Kind of not looking forward to it!

pretzelpieces · 03/12/2015 12:29

gouda Oh yes, well I agree with why visitors aren't allowed, I just don't think the antenatal ward is the place for labouring women at all! People who are trying to keep their blood pressure down don't need me mooing on the other side of the curtain either!

pud epi slow Grin mine arrived today eek. Yes I'm going to talk to the mh MWs about it cause I'm in a right state about it.

Meeting the diabetes consultant today. Sorry I'm so grumpy at the moment viroids x

ThursdayLastWeek · 03/12/2015 12:40

Pretzel

I was induced - my waters broke and contractions started about 15 minutes before DH was supposed to go home. They didn't send him home, and the MWs were able to move us to a private room.

Had it all kicked off a bit later, I would have been able to call him back for sure.

lildottie · 03/12/2015 13:37

Feeling oddly calm about tomorrow actually. Tomorrow morning I'm sure will be different.

pretzel my attitude is always to make a nuisance of myself until I get what I want! Keep kicking and screaming hun, though I agree you shouldn't have to!

SecondCupOfTea · 03/12/2015 13:40

Honey I had a blood test last Friday, and was told I could ring up for the results on Monday. My response was surely if there is something wrong, they'd ring me anyway? Well, ring me they did. V.low vitamin D. Letter faxed to my GP, GP calls me saying there is a prescription ready, pick it up asap and start taking the tablets.

So now I'm on a one-a-week super-dooper Vit D supplement as well as my increased calcium intake. I'm gonna have bones like girders! Grin

goodnessgraciousgoudaoriginal · 03/12/2015 14:00

pretzel - I see your point! Maybe push for that private room if it's an option? Are there no induction methods that can be done at home if you're not far from the hospital? (I don't know anything about inductions!)

honey - Anaemia is a bit of a soul sapper, so it's good they got back to you so fast!! Be prepared to be a bit shocked how much more energy you have after a few days on the iron tablets! Grin

5hell - Good luck with the appointment, I hope you don't have to wait too long and that the midwife can give you some reassurance about the movements. If it helps at all, I honestly didn't start getting proper, super noticeable, very regular movements until maybe three or so weeks ago (and I'm nearly 35 weeks). It was still very haphazard and not that obvious at all around the 23 week mark. It might be something about it being the first pregnancy I guess?

Or I guess some people get really obvious "patterns" quite early on and others don't?

NIFF - I hope that you are feeling a bit less MURRR about the pregnancy and generally feeling a bit frustrated. I was just on the stats sheet and can't believe how similar our timings are - I had forgotten about that!! Grin

Feeling super lazy and a bit frustrated today. I probably should go for a walk or something, but it's difficult to summon the motivation when you know after five minutes it will feel like there's a bowling ball hanging in your crotch and you suddenly need the loo really badly. I can't even be bothered to go buy chocolate. That's how bad it is!

ThursdayLastWeek · 03/12/2015 14:23

honey did they get that result from the bloods they took for your GTT?
I assumed they'd just be testing for glucose or whatever, that's good though if they're able to pick up any other issues Smile

OP posts:
CarrotPuff · 03/12/2015 14:47

pud ironically the pain got better when I started working. I guess because I don't push the pram anymore, lift DS and go on long walks so much anymore.

Glad I went to that session, it was quite interesting and informative. The biggest most important thing is - do your pelvic floors viroids! Apparently it doesn't just protect you from incontinence, but it also holds your pelvis together. So the more you do it, the lesser the pain.

Another interesting fact - your pelvic floor will recover quicker if you resume your exercises within 24h of giving birth rather than later. So get squeezing!

And yes, they gave a card with number that you can ring and get one on one appt if you need. So that's good.

honey anaemia is v common in 3rd tri. V impressed by the speediness of your lab! When I tested anaemic at my booking in I got a letter through the post a month later!

goodnessgraciousgoudaoriginal · 03/12/2015 15:27

Thursday - I think they just take extra if they need to when they take during the GTT. Over here, the doctor does a prescription for what they want the clinic to test for (just glucose, glucose plus other things, etc), then the clinic just follows that. I guess it's a similar set up in the UK.

For example, my doctor wanted to check for a few other things in addition to the GTT. So I had three vials taken for the first blood test - one was for the glucose levels, one was to check for toxoplasmosis and the other was a full blood count. For the next two hourly tests I just had the one vial drawn each time to check the glucose levels.

I really hate it when they include a test you need to fast for with a bunch of stuff that you don't!! Bastards!

ThursdayLastWeek · 03/12/2015 15:37

I see, thanks gouda. I just had the two taken for the whole thing so I guess they're not feeling investigative Grin

OP posts:
pretzelpieces · 03/12/2015 15:47

gouda you can usually go home on the pessary I'm just not allowed because of the gestational diabetes, they want to monitor me.

I'm joining you on the iron tablets honey, iron levels have dropped since being on spatone.

I've just got out of my "1.40pm" clinic appointment and finally had the chance to eat. Trying to not cry and get some energy to travel home before I get bitey with the general public.

pretzelpieces · 03/12/2015 15:49

gouda also meant to say yeah I hate when I feel restless like that. Want to do something but it all hurts or is too much effort. Thank god I brought my knitting to the hospital with me or there would've been bloodshed.

honeysucklejasmine · 03/12/2015 16:06

Thanks ladies. Yes, they took four vials of blood. Glucose, thyroxine and standard 28 week bloods.

Clinic is at 8.45am tomorrow. Hopefully they won't be running mate at that time in the morning!

DH has car in for MOT today. Means I have to go and get him from work and drop in garage. Loads of windy country lanes in the dark. I am tired, ivwabt to hide under duvet!

Gouda I am so used to having no energy i'm not sure what I'd do with it! All of my medical conditions have "fatigue" as a symptom. I've been tired for almost 15 years now! Wink

5hell · 03/12/2015 17:21

thanks gouda that's reassuring. I have felt a few ickle movements this afternoon.

Well, MW was on time - sort of - saw a different mw as mine has apparently been moved to another area, but the one i saw today will probably not be the one i see next time/from now on sigh and in the meantime I have no mw to contact directly with questions/worries. otherwise everything was fine :)

pretz yay for knitting, boo for all your other worries. things will probably be no where near as bad as you imagine - hopefully you'll be pleasantly surprised when the time comes. but i understand you want to be able to prepare and envisage a positive labour and birth.

pretzelpieces · 03/12/2015 17:25

honey Flowers I hope you and your duvet are together again before long.

5hell glad to hear you've had some movements. Sorry the MWs are still messing you around. Can you call the hospital midwives with any worries?

corgi88 · 03/12/2015 17:40

hello viroids! fell off thread again, naughty me... must admit I keep feeling like it's not real and I'm not actually pregnant! I only have sore boobs and lots of positive tests plus I haven't heard anything from my MW yet. It seems to go so slowly atm! 7 weeks on Saturday. eeeek.

pud excluding PPH you might lose about 300ml? I haven't actually seen any waterbirths on this job yet! but I wouldn't worry too much. Am sure it will all be fine and your DH won't faint Smile

hello to everyone else. Am rather tired today so lazing about by fire all afternoon - productive afternoon off!!
