Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 41st grads thread... celebrating the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed!

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The 40th grads thread is HERE

The thread we have graduated from is HERE in its 55th outing. WARNING: they're all a bit kerazy not to mention randy!

There is also a Just Mumming thread HERE
for once your babies come along, or to keep up with the graduated graduates!

There is also a private facebook group (so it doesn't give the game away in your news feed!)... if you want to join to see photos of new babies etc, just ask in-thread!

HERE is the stats list, please update your own spot with any updates.

yorkshire - I think if anything, water births tend to exacerbate the inevitable gore during childbirth, and make it look even worse!

The blood has nowhere to go, and bleeding into water always makes it look like you are losing X times more blood as it dilutes out! (I can attest to this due to many days spent recently bleeding into our blocked sink with my many nosebleeds....)

So if he can get through the water birth, then I don't think they'd be any problem in you getting out the bath and wrapping a towel around you. It's not like you're going to be able to walk very far straight after anyway, so there shouldn't be like.....one of those blood trails in the horror films when some side character gets dragged into a cupboard or whatnot Grin You could always speak to the midwife though on the sly if you were worried? They are probably used to it!

I feel for your DH, as I am also incredibly squeamish, and have a strong tendency to pass out at the sight of blood. I would really struggle with a water birth as you can't NOT see the blood iyswim! Have you guys tried watching any water birth videos on you tube? It might help to watch a little bit every now and then to sort of de sensitise him to it?

thurs I think not eating contributes massively to baby not moving as much. I've noticed if i've not eaten then this one won't shift about until I have a good meal, so it could be fasting is having an effect. Try not to stress but deffo mention to your MW. Also sorry about your friends baby.

pud are you sure you can deliver placenta in the pool? We were told that you have to get out for the third stage? i have no idea how much you will bleed after, sorry!

I've managed to lose 2 of my maternity dresses and all my maternity tights in this move! I am really reluctant to buy more with only 3 weeks left of work! Boo!

Good luck to honey and thurs for your GTT. My advice is take something big and sugary for afterwards!

honeysucklejasmine · 02/12/2015 09:39

Hmm. Been here 20 minutes. Appt was for 9.30. Bloods not taken yet. Why are they making me wait, the meanies?

goodnessgraciousgoudaoriginal · 02/12/2015 09:46

honey Give it another ten minutes and then go and say something. GTT is not nice and you shouldn't have to hang about for the first one when you can't eat or drink for two hours afterwards.

They should be getting you done first even if it means putting you ahead of someone. At least that person gets to go home afterwards!

ThursdayLastWeek · 02/12/2015 09:47

Poor honey I'm home from the docs - a very nice nurse saw me and explained it all.
She also gave me my flu jab while I was there and re booked my WC one as I'd scheduled it a week early.

I'm absolutely fucking starving.

jelly I think you're right about the fasting. Since I have sat down to write this, approx 15 mins after glucose drink, I have received a few swift boots to my innards. Perhaps it was facing inwardly last night or something. I'll still be glad to have the MW listen for the HB later though.

BTW the glucose drink wasn't nearly as bad as I expected.

I agree with gouda, you should hassle them a bit honey. I don't know about you but fasting for this long makes me feel grim.

I love sods law. Got called in as soon as I hit post. The woman before me was quite sickly apparently.

Drink not that bad really. Expected if to have a syrupy texture but it didn't. Phlebotomist described it as "undiluted lucozade" which seems quite accurate.

Finger prick test was 4.2 so at least it's not high already!

ThursdayLastWeek · 02/12/2015 10:03

I didn't have a finger prick test - she just took a thing of blood.
I suppose that's the downside of having it done by the practice nurse at your local surgery. Hey ho.

jellypi3 · 02/12/2015 10:17

I didn't get a finger prick when i had mine. My drink was also not like lucozade, it was a thick syrupy disgusting drink, urgh makes me retch thinking about it!

Glad baby is moving a bit more thurs!

Mermaid36 · 02/12/2015 10:28

Meh. Sending this from the works toilet, in between puking and retching....

Good job I have an understanding boss....who is 15wks pregnant herself!

honeysucklejasmine · 02/12/2015 10:33

Sounds like it varies between trusts then. It's relatively painless so far to be honest. Feel absolutely fine. Just a bit bored. Managed to snag the one nice chair in the waiting room.

ThursdayLastWeek · 02/12/2015 10:34

Oh Mermaid you poor thing Sad

One hour people, one more hour and I'll be stuffing my face with a bacon sandwich, and tomato soup, and an apple and fuck off great mug of really sugary coffee.

I'm so glad I got to go home, and have a MW appt in between.
It also meant I got out of taking DS to playgroup - DH took him and I've had a lively peaceful hour sitting in bed Grin

Unfair Thursday! I was warned fairly sternly that it's a "resting blood test" so I must just sit still other than popping to loo or getting a drink.

jellypi3 · 02/12/2015 10:57

I wasn't allowed to leave the waiting room during mine, except for the toilet. I wasn't allowed to drink water or anything. I think my NHS trust were a bit sadistic...

honeysucklejasmine · 02/12/2015 11:26

Sounds it! Are you under a different trust now?

oneyorkshirepud · 02/12/2015 11:30

It amazes how much guidelines change between trusts! Glad you all seem to be doing okay though and hurray for bacon sandwiches! I want one now.

Envy oh dear Mermaid, hope your stomach settles soon!

I've cleaned the bathroom ceiling and now feel genuinely more ready to giv

oneyorkshirepud · 02/12/2015 11:31

Oops!

To give birth ha ha. I also listened to my natal hypnotherapy cd.... and fell asleep! Apparently that is fine though as it will still imprint on your subconscious?

ThursdayLastWeek · 02/12/2015 11:33

Baby is fine - MW repeated what you said jelly, about not eating. HB good and strong and easy to find Smile

Thanks for all your support viroids, so lovely to have people to turn to Thanks

Ooh, I have another question about after birth. Bear with me it's a bit ridiculous! So following the advice of mnsnetters and several friends in RL, I have purchased some rather fabulous tena lady incontinence pants for immediately after birth. They are essentially a (thin) nappy and are meant to be the badgers nadgers for dealing with lochia. Here comes my ridiculous question.... Do I wear my M&S granny knickers over the pants? Or just go adult nappy and then trousers? Honestly the things you have to think about for giving birth!!!!

oneyorkshirepud · 02/12/2015 11:38

X post Thursday, glad that baby is fine!

jellypi3 · 02/12/2015 11:52

yay for healthy baby thurs :) when i went ~5 hours without eating and panicked due to reduced movement i was told by mw eating affects it :) glad you are ok though!

honey yeah new trust, and so far care has been a million times better. one midwife instead of loads of different ones, came to my home to see me, hospital were amazing when i ended up there saturday. so happy overall.

can't help there pud i[ve just bought standard maternity pads for it...is that wrong??

honeysucklejasmine · 02/12/2015 11:54

Pud I imagine they are supposed to be instead of pants, but I don't imagine it matters too much.

Good news Thursday

honeysucklejasmine · 02/12/2015 12:01

Gtt done. Feel absolutely fine so gx for good result.

pretzelpieces · 02/12/2015 12:28

If I'd been allowed to move around during my gtt it would have been low enough that they would have since treated me as having gd! I was 0.1 under the threshold and they got me to monitor my blood sugars because of that close result and because my sister has it. And it's good that they did because I was regularly getting results higher than they wanted. Madness how much it varies from place to place.
