parsnip I feel your pain!
As of about 10 days ago I developed weird insomnia and I feel like I am dying from exhaustion...
Seriously!! This isn't supposed to kick in until later, is it? I started it at 23 weeks and it's most nights now - I take a little while to go to sleep, but then wake up about 3am and have no hope of getting back to sleep, and only get in a little doze before my alarm goes off. I feel like an absolute zombie all of the time, I can hardly function at work!!

ODog · 18/01/2016 09:57

I've been struggling with tiredness too. When I saw the midwife last week she said the baby is siting on my bladder and as a result I have been getting up 2-3 times a night to go to the loo. Then DS has been a bit unsettled as I think he has started having bad dreams so the last week I've been lucky to get 2 hrs of straight sleep at any given time. I find that broken sleep is the worst and I can cope much better if I only get one 4hr stretch in the night. Don't know how I survived when DS feed a lot constantly at night. All good practice I guess.

ParsnipSoup · 19/01/2016 10:14

It must be so tricky being pregnant while looking after another little one... I'm struggling just to look after myself!

Managed about 5hrs last night so feel like a completely new person. Supposed to be cleaning the house top to bottom today because DPs Mum is coming to stay on Thursday, but I'm feeling really grumpy about how it's all been left to me. Tempted to just not do it but then he won't and I'll be the one who's embarrassed about having such a messy house.

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 20/01/2016 06:44

I don't want to brag, but...I actually slept last night!! My mum recommended an app called buddify (she suffers from insomnia) and I tried a free sample of it last night to drown out the noise as DP insisted on loudly watching TV in our stupid open plan flat - only 11 minutes long but it got me super sleepy, and I was drifting off by the time he got to bed and asleep not long after. The real miracle is that I didn't even wake up for a wee! His alarm went off at 5.30 this morning but that wasn't so bad given that I'd been asleep all night...
After 2 weeks of barely sleeping at all this feels like a bloody miracle!! I was starting to lose hope of ever sleeping again...

ParsnipSoup · 20/01/2016 10:48

Hurrah for sleep!! I might have to try that app...

frozensmoothie · 20/01/2016 10:54

Glad you managed to get a good nights sleep Cant. I had a weird insomnia a few weeks ago too but luckily it's passed (for now!) hope everyone elses goes soon too.

25 week appointment this afternoon and I should get my MATB1 form and will finally be able to submit my maternity leave application form. Already counting down the weeks left at work Smile

Southy84 · 20/01/2016 10:58

Hi everyone I'm going to make more effort to post, sadly still suffering with my back and signed off work. Seeing the physio again friday and hoping they can give some more suggestions as I can't sleep properly and its getting me down. Problem is it radiates into my left hip so laying on my left is painful but I hate Trying to sleep on my right side - I know im probably being paranoid but midwife made a point of saying sleep on your left.

pearly I'm also going to be telling work I will be going back even though I have no intention of doing that just so I don't stitch myself up maternity pay wise, sad really as didnt want to do that.

frozen hope your midwife appointment goes well today. I would love to know what gets discussed/done at the 25 week app, can anyone let me know? Mine is next thurs.

To those doing pregnancy yoga, how are you finding it? Do you think it's worthwhile with a bad back? Or do you think I will agrevate it?

I may look into that app cant I am jealous I want to sleep well again!

How did the tidying go yesterday parsnip? I would have probably done the essentials only!

Hope your ds has slept better the past couple of nights odog and you have managed to sleep better too.

Hi to anyone ive missed, did tiff find out if she is team blue or pink?

Nicky333 · 20/01/2016 11:02

Southy, my sister suffered from SPD throughout her pregnancy and couldn't sleep on her left side, so she slept on her right. No problems, very healthy girl now who's 2 months old.

I'm still waking up at about 4:30am every day and not really getting back to sleep. I'm knackered.

Southy84 · 20/01/2016 11:15

Oh really nicky I thought it was odd just affecting the one hip but nice to hear it's not just me :) did your sister say the pain affected her giving birth? (Another thing I've been worrying about). I'm always awake at 4:15am here, baby was havjng a party at that time too which didn't help getting back to sleep, don't get me wrong I loved feeling baby move because not been feeling lots but talk about inconvenient timing!!

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 20/01/2016 11:34

southy might not be the case for everyone but the more yoga I do, the less my back aches. I would say it will really depend on what's going on with you but for me it really really really helps!! Mind you, I was doing yoga every day for 7 years before getting pregnant so my body breaks down without it - but don't let that put you off!

ODog · 20/01/2016 11:44

Sorry to hear you are in pain southy. Please don't worry about the right/left sleep thing. I mentioned it to my midwife when pg with DS and she basically laughed at me and told me to sleep how I want as it would be he last time I could for many years. She was right. A friend of mine had severe PGP (as in hospitalised for weeks at a time when it was at its worst). They induced her on her due date just to be kind to her really and she had a natural delivery but did require an epidural for the pain.

DS has been waking less but needing cuddles for these bad dreams so has been in with us a lot (it really doesn't bother me to be honest I sleep better when he's in the bed as I'm not listening out) and baby has moved off my bladder so back to one loo trip a night. Hurrah! Although DS has been getting up early again (5.30am ish) after a blissful couple of weeks when it was closer to 7am. Guess you can't have it all!

I have had a bit of an achy back though lately which I am putting down to picking up a large 19mo and carrying him in a sling a lot so I'm trying to minimise the picking up and only giving him the choice of walking or buggy when out. I might see if a bit of yoga can help it too. I have a Dvd and started a class but found it hard to commit to Saturday mornings because DH gets up with DS and I get a lie in! .

Southy84 · 20/01/2016 12:34

I think I will enquire as to whether I can start up yoga once I have seen the physio on Friday, I already made contact with the instructor just didn't do anything more, then started getting these problems and haven't followed it up.

Thank you all for your advice. Good to know your midwife said that about right side sleeping odog and glad your ds has been a little better, I remember bad dreams as a young child, not nice even when your an adult. Hooray for baby moving off your bladder! I take it your midwife felt your tummy and could tell where baby was then? That's amazing. Well done you for managing carrying your ds in a sling for this long, I feel lame that I'm struggling to haul myself around!

Has everyone got bumps now? Mine has popped out quite a bit now Shock

GunShotResidue · 20/01/2016 12:44

I have a huge bump southy, I'm worried about how big I'll be by May! I hope your back feels better soon.

DD ends up in with us a lot ODog. She's a fidgeter. She's 2 today, which is crazy. I can't believe how fast the last two years have gone.

I have loads of cleaning to do before a pre move out meeting this evening, but I'm being very lazy!

frozensmoothie · 20/01/2016 12:46

Sorry to hear you're in pain Southy. I echo everyone else about the right/left hand sleeping. I've done a bit of research into it as I was worried too (I fidget a lot in the night and can't sleep in just one position!) and the NHS guidance is to sleep however you feel most comfortable. I will let you know what happens at the 25 week appointment Smile.

I'm interested in the yoga too, I finally managed to find a class but it's quite expensive and also on a Saturday morning when I like my lie ins!

I've booked my parentcraft and breast feeding classes now.

My bump has popped out quite a bit too and people are starting to notice although I've had two people now saying it looks small! It certainly doesn't feel/look small to me!

ODog · 20/01/2016 13:01

It's not really an option southy. It's either carry him in a sling or carry him in arms which is worse for your back. He was a lovely cuddly -koala Velcro type-- little baby and nothing's changed now he's a toddler. Out and about he is usually happy to walk though and if not I can usually bribe him into the buggy without too much fuss with snacks.

I'm lucky that he's a pretty sound sleeper unless he's teething gunshot. What do you plan to do if baby wants in your bed too? I really don't want to kick DS out at what will be a time of massive change for him. I also expect to co-sleep a lot with new baby as I don't really see how people BF at night and not end up co-sleeping. Just. Bit worried about safe co-sleeping guidelines saying you shouldn't have a toddler and a newborn in your bed together. I will obviously have one on each side, but is that good enough?

Southy84 · 20/01/2016 13:12

Thanks gunshot some of my friends are saying I'm big, I'll take a photo later when I can free some space up on my phone.

I have turned into a fidget frozen I'm sure I never used to be! I had a look at bump pics online to compare against mine and there does seem to be a lot of varying sizes, not helpful when people say you are carrying a potential 10pounder though, which has me slightly worried.....

How lovely to have a cuddly baby odog :) can't imagine having one Dc and being pregnant, I'm rubbish and this is my first!

Southy84 · 20/01/2016 13:13

Oh and my yoga has been quoted at £85 for 8 sessions is that good?

Nicky333 · 20/01/2016 13:58

Southy it didn't affect my sister's labour as such. She had to have an emergency Caesarian in the end but that was unrelated.

Pikz · 20/01/2016 14:53

Southey the 25 week appointment (had today at 25+3) was uneventful. Urine test, blood pressure, heard heartbeat, measured belly, asked how I was and booked diabetics test.

They become a routine of similar at this stage

frozensmoothie · 20/01/2016 17:06

Yep my 25 week appointment was the same. Urine, blood pressure, bump measurement (thankfully she was measuring fine) and listened to the heartbeart this time. Only problem was baby wasnt playing ball and kept hiding but managed to hear it for all of 2 seconds! Annoyingly when I got home I realised that she didn't give me my MATB1 form and I forgot to ask for it! I'm never going to get my maternity leave application in at this rate Confused

Southy84 · 20/01/2016 19:33

That's good to know nicky hope you're well.

Glad your appointments went well pikz and frozen it feels strange being at the point of needing bump measurements! Where's time going!? Do they make you pee in a tiny pot at this appointment? I hope not, otherwise I may invest in a shewee to help... I just don't get why they give you a stupidly sized test tube to pee in Hmm

ODog · 20/01/2016 20:03

Omg I totally feel you about the tiny pots. I always pee in a disposable plastic cup and decant. Our midwives ask you to bring it (give you tiny pot for next spot at each appt) with you so I can at least do it at home.

ODog · 20/01/2016 20:05

Also I had mine at 24weeks but I don't think they measured my bump at this one. Everything else was as others have said other than she gave me a form to book 2nd bloods and I don't need a gtt so didn't do that. They are all pretty much the same from here on out. unless you make it to 40/41 weeks where you get 'stretched and swept' if you want

GunShotResidue · 20/01/2016 20:06

I have no idea what I'm going to do ODog. I might try some gentle sleep training after we move, although we've tried everything before! She does one long session until 1-3am and will then wake hourly if we try and keep her in the cot. Worst case me and baby will end up in the spare room and DD and DH in our room!

Southy the other day when the GP needed a urine sample she gave me a little pot and a plastic cup. I peed in the cup then carefully tipped it into the pot. It was much easier!

ParsnipSoup · 20/01/2016 20:06

At least you get a test tube southy, at mine they just hand you the stick to pee on and my aim really isn't that fantastic!! Going to start taking my own pot I think.

I've had what feels like a huge bump for a couple of weeks now... Bit worried about how much of it is food rather than baby. Oops. Managed practically no cleaning due to various other minor disasters and MIL is coming over tomorrow... DH has told her to leave really early in the morning so she'll be at ours by 11. Great. Will be panic cleaning tonight when I get home.
