Welcome newbies!! And congrats!

Regarding weight I have put half a stone on, I'm 13+2 today so not sure if that is normal weight gain or not?! I blame it on the fact I can mainly only stomach carbs at the minute so have a bread belly!! Hoping my appetite will become a bit more healthy and varied during the 2nd trimester.

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 09/11/2015 14:43

Sorry to report from the beginning of the 2nd trimester that not much has changed eating wise mamama! Not as bad as the early first few weeks but I still can't face salads or much healthy stuff, and want to eat potatoes and cheese and all sorts of beige food...

Elephantslovetofly · 09/11/2015 15:37

I think I have put on about half a stone as well, although not exactly sure what I was to start with. I'm attributing at least part of that to boob growth and the rest to carbs

I am having a similar issue with clothes - I have jeans and leggings that fit for the weekend, but work clothes are generally too tight. I don't really want to buy more if they will only last a few weeks, but I've now got a couple of maternity dresses from eBay that seem massive! Sort of stuck in the middle :-( I'm trying to get by with the wrap-style dresses I have already which have a bit of give in them....

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 09/11/2015 16:20

elephants are you still in the covert 12 weeks? I found that getting dressed was easier once I was not also trying to conceal as well as staying decent! and I am pretty sure my many mysterious kilos add up to more than half a stone but I think I have about 2 kilos extra on each boob...and apparently the amniotic fluid and extra blood is heavy too!!

GrouchyKiwi · 09/11/2015 16:27

I've put on about half a stone, and discovered yesterday that I can't comfortably bend down when sitting. Not one jot of weight has gone on my breasts. I'm an A-cup now after breastfeeding two babies; I want more. Sad

Bishboshbash · 09/11/2015 17:23

Scan day today for me, all good and very wriggly baby. Poorly toddler though which is less good!
Hope everyone had a nice weekend and hello to all the newbies!

Yay bish! Glad all is good in there and hurrah for wriggly babies!

GrouchyKiwi · 09/11/2015 18:45

Lovely pic, Bish. Hope your little boy is better soon.

Mamama31 · 09/11/2015 19:18

Lovely scan bish Smile I'm really missing my fortnightly scans I was having! Counting down to out 16 wk private scan it can't come soon enough!

ODog · 09/11/2015 19:37

Congrats on the scan bish. I'm very jealous of your scan in a few weeks mama. The long gap after the 20week scan is never as bad as you can feel the kicks by then but up to that point really drags.

PearlyFish · 09/11/2015 21:24

Fingers crossed for you Evs, hope everything turns out ok.

Brenna glad you are doing ok, will keep fingers crossed for your niece too.

Welcome Salle and any other newbies I have missed Smile

Hope the mental health midwives get back to you soon Vicky. Hope you are doing ok in the meanwhile.

I'm 14+3 today by scan dates. Mostly wearing leggings and baggy jumpers as I haven't yet told everyone at work. Got a little bump now but not gained much weight, about 2.5lbs.

Lovely scan Bish! I sent you a PM on Facebook, so hopefully sent it to the right account!

Hi to everyone I've missed! Smile

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 10/11/2015 03:29

Waaaaaaaa!!! Having the WORST night ever, have barely slept and now got a terrible headache - is the bad sleeping just me?!

HoopoeQueen · 10/11/2015 06:52

cant me too, had terrible sleep the last 2 nights and feeling so rough when I have to get up! Just want to stay in bed all day...

ODog · 10/11/2015 06:59

It's natures way of getting us ready for night feeds and then toddlers waking for no discernible reason .

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 10/11/2015 07:32

Sorry you're suffering too hoopoe - and odog I fear you are right! All those people who say "sleep now while you can!" Have obviously never been pregnant!
Have an absolutely banging headache now and NO idea how I'm going to get through the day at work, but we have the builders in doing our kitchen in our open-plan flat so I can't even stay home or have the option of coming home early from work - waahhh!

frozensmoothie · 10/11/2015 09:49

Morning everyone!

Lovely scan bish

I'm very jealous of your private scan too mamama. My 20 week scan is 5 weeks today and time seems to be dragging. It feels like such a long time to wait. I wish I could find a private scan place with more reasonable prices!

I can sympathise with the lack of sleep. I had terrible insomnia on Sunday night and must have only managed a few hours in the end. I felt like a zombie yesterday but the bonus is that I was so tired I ended up sleeping really well last night. I hope you manage to get through today can't (it's times like this when you really need caffeine/coffee to get through the day!)

ToffeeAppleMarsBar · 10/11/2015 10:01

LOVELY scan picture Bish! Don't think I'll ever grow tired of seeing scan pictures now. Used to wonder what all the fuss was about before I had my own but now I'm obsessed with them!

Oh no cant, hope the day is getting better for you now. Managed to shift that headache at all? I have noticed I do seem to be getting more headaches - thankfully nothing as bad as the migraine I had the other week but I think it's worse knowing you can't really take anything for it. I can DEFINITELY feel a cold coming on too. I was definitely given the wrong impression about the flu jab - I was told it would mean I would be cold and flu free for the whole of winter. NOT THE CASE. Hope you get a better night's sleep tonight.

Hello frozen! :)

It's really interesting hearing about people's weight... I lost a lot of weight in the first 8 weeks or so (worryingly so to me, but midwife seemed to think it was fine) but happily seem to be slowly creeping back up now. Never thought I'd be relieved to see the scales go UP! I'm still not back up to where I was before I was pregnant but we're almost there. I'd say I'm only about 3-4lbs off my original weight now. Definitely have a bump though and bigger boobs so god knows where all that weight went?! Think the majority has fallen off my arms and legs - so I look all weird and out of proportion.

ODog · 10/11/2015 10:23

I would still say sleep now while you can though cant. i used to love my preggo naps in the day last time around. No such luck this time with a toddler in tow. His nap is mostly taken up doing the stuff that's way too difficult to do when he's awake. I also loved snuggly newborn naps when he was tiny. He would only sleep on me or in the sling or on a boob for 6 months so I took full advantage of that. No such luxuries this time. New baby will have to sleep in a sling while I charge about after a not quite 2 yr old. Poor thing poor me !

StormTr00per · 10/11/2015 11:02

Evs wishing you well.. hope you get your results soon x
odog I'll be in the same boat as you chasing after a toddler with baby in sling Grin
How I also long for a nap! DS is starting nursery soon as I'm back at work, but there's a few days he'll be there when I have holidays.. I plan lots of daytime napping!

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 10/11/2015 11:25

In spite of my username I am totally having a coffee this morning....and sadly naps are impossible most of the time as I'm at work all week, out of the house from 8am until 7pm including commute each way though I know it is HARDCORE being pregnant or having a baby with another child already there, I don't know how you do it!

And frozen I forget, are you in London? Feral medicine centre in Harley st is £100 for a private scan - still a bit spendy I know but is a research charity so cheaper than other London places and money goes into fetal research (once the fancy clinic is paid for!)

ODog · 10/11/2015 11:41

I was the queen on train sleeps when I commuted. Not just when pg. I actively avoided people I knew so I could sleep!

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 10/11/2015 12:06

Good plan odog! My tube time is a bit short for sleeps unfortunately, and I'm not always getting a seat even though I am brandishing my baby on board badge!

StormTr00per · 10/11/2015 12:33

Ah good point.. I can grab 40 minutes on the way to work! Maybe not on the way home incase I wake up somewhere random..

Nicky333 · 10/11/2015 12:44

Had our 12 week scan today and all is well Smile

Ruthiesj · 10/11/2015 13:29

Congratulations Nicky - such a lovely clear picture. My overfull bladder was crowding the baby at mine so the picture's not the best (they didn't charge me for it as it wasn't very good).

Cant I'm a fellow tube commuter with BOB badge. Luckily I get on at the end of the line so always get a seat in the mornings and usually also at the end of the day as I get on before the tube passes through central London. However, I did get on a different route the other evening to meet a friend and ended up waiting for a seat to become available. I felt quite awkward. God knows how I would feel if someone had given up a seat for me (I fear I would similarly feel embarrassed). How are you finding it?
