Nehagarg glad you can be less worried now :-)

Lemon good luck if you decide to get checked out again, sound like you have lots of things pointing towards everything being ok Thanks

Louise34567 · 15/11/2015 15:34

Rose I would be fine with that - I use mayonnaise on occasion and although it's raw egg, it's pasteurised, so probably fine.

Grubby you won't believe this but I had exactly the same thing this morning. I'm in my seventh week so far. Woke up at 3am, and the only thing that stopped me throwing up (my body is absolutely NOT made for being sick-the gag reflex doesn't work properly so it's very painful for me) was taking a bath from 3am to 7am, I kid you not. Unfortunately I had to keep sitting in the warm water and topping it up with some more warm water every half hour or so and read a book :'(

It was the only way to distract me from the rushing up-and-down feeling in my stomach, and the heat in my stomach. I pretty much ate the same as my DH (except for a sausage roll, but that was on Saturday afternoon so I'm sure food poisoning would have come on earlier than that if I had it).

I thought I'd escaped the whole 'dry heaving' / almost-being-sick kind of morning sickness. Appears not... it's only just begun. Does anyone have any good tips on how to manage it? I've heard ginger tea and biscuits are good.

Potkettleblack2 · 15/11/2015 16:46

Rose I did a cookery course last weekend and ate raw egg-it was only afterwards that I twigged that I shouldn't have! But these days eggs are pasteurised and I don't regret eating my yummy creations! I was dreading the course but once there I didn't feel sick at all and enjoyed both the cooking and the eating!

earlgreydrinker · 15/11/2015 16:53

rose I really wouldn't worry if it's just tasting. i still have a lick of the bowl when baking (and DH isn't watching).

GrubbyWindows · 15/11/2015 17:40

louise that sounds grim! Glad it's passing though.

And nehag that sounds very stressful too!!!! So glad you are there now, these things are always even worse from a distance xx

rose I'd do it, you can always not taste quite everything on the day if it feels wrong, but pasteurised egg is totally fine!

I've been in bed all day apart from loo dashes, all I've kept down is three cream crackers (very spaced out nibbles) and five penne of pasta. A sip of water just set me off...
I'm pretty sure it's not the kind of food poisoning that can harm the fetus, as I don't have a fever, but it's hard not to worry, as we all know so well.
If I'm still bad tomorrow I'll ring the doc.

laughingGnomette · 15/11/2015 17:48

Aww Grubby, sorry you're feeling so poorly Flowers

Louise34567 · 15/11/2015 17:54

Thanks grubby. I rang the 111 NHS number after posting, just to be safe, and they've referred me for an out-of-hours check-up tonight at my local hospital at 8. This morning, I think they reckon, could have actually been food poisoning and prob made worse as I wasn't actually able to BE sick. Wasn't expecting that but I guess they just take extra precautions when you're pregnant. Are you feeling any better now? It's cruel that sipping water doesn't agree isn't it.

GrubbyWindows · 15/11/2015 18:31

Ooooh Louise that spooked me, So I just rang 111 too. They just said to go to the doc tomorrow if it's still going on, and call back if it gets worse, phew!
I hope your checkup goes ok!! Thinking of you. Grimness...

Louise34567 · 15/11/2015 18:34

Sorry grubby - I'm personally a bit of a worrier and like to be armed with info and reassurance if I can get it! Stops me imagining worst scenarios etc. Glad you got some reassurance too. I'm sure it'll all be fine. You threw up (sorry tmi) so that should be positive - better out than in ha ha! Hoping we both get some sleep tonight after an early morning. All the best :)

TattedPixie · 15/11/2015 18:42

Hey ladies, I've been in bed all day with headache and tiredness even though I slept a whole 10 hours. Just been watching tv and nibbling food. My brother made dinner and luckily it stayed down as it was my favourite. Just curled up in bed again, stomach is churning a bit but I'm guessing that's the nausea. Isn't pregnancy glamorous lol

Rose2806 · 15/11/2015 18:48

Thanks everyone!

Louise and Grubby hope you both feel better soon

Louise34567 · 15/11/2015 18:51

Thanks rose!

Aw tatted that sounds sensible. If there's ONE positive, maybe it's that other people can cook for us :)

BabySocks · 15/11/2015 19:18

Ladies so sorry for all the sickness, clearly you need more ice lollies :)

dollydaydream84 · 15/11/2015 19:36

grubby and louise I had the joys of a sickness bug between 5 and 6 weeks they said that the baby will be fine, they only tend to worry if it is food poisoning more so than viral, they can check that via a stool sample if it helps put your mind at ease. The main concern of course is dehydration, if you keep being sick and can't keep water down (they said keeping it down for even a few minutes is helpful as some is absorbed) then that is more the concern and they might need to give you fluids. I was one "throw up" away from being admitted but narrowly escaped :)

Well I have joined the 8 week spotting brigade tonight :( had lots of cramps on one side on Friday and today just don't feel well, can't put my finger on what it is but felt really weak and very very tired as though I'm coming down with something, then tonight some spotting :( It was brown which is a good sign and I know if I read this post I'd be reassuring the person so I'm trying to keep it in perspective but it is a worry nonetheless.

Hope you all had a good sunday :)

GrubbyWindows · 15/11/2015 21:02

Oh dolly i can see why you are worried, even though it sounds ok, so hard to take your own advice! Will you ring someone? I'm sure epu would see you in the morning, then you can relax. At mine you just turn up.
Thank you for the reassurance too- I was trying to remember who it was who had a bug so many threads ago...

I hope your checkup went ok louise

tatted you poor thing. This has really made me appreciate how lucky I am not to really have had any vomiting with either pregnancy.

Rose2806 · 15/11/2015 21:38

I think my nausea seems to correlate directly with when I am tired. Is anyone else finding this? I didn't have a nap today and am paying for it this evening..

I'd call your epu tomorrow dolly, mine have been great and if you can self refer it's generally quite easy to get reassurance from them quickly

TattedPixie · 15/11/2015 21:59

Grubby, I've not had any sickness, just my stomach doesn't like some foods. I'll have a bite or 2 and then I get a wave of nausea and slight pain. Doesn't help that I have IBS either

dollydaydream84 · 15/11/2015 22:16

Going to ring GP in the morning as doesn't look like I can self refer. They only do morning scan clinics but if I wait to ring when they open, I'll miss getting a GP appointment. Just hope I have no more. Just concerned with the one sided pain too. Staying positive :)

Tatted I have bad IBS and the pregnancy has sent the IBS mad! Double struggle!

bikingintherain · 16/11/2015 07:19

Definitely rose. If I've not had chance to have a nap or had a full day at work then the nausea in the evening is debilitating.

I'm definitely counting down the days at the minute and hoping I'll feel better by 12 weeks. Although last two pregnancies it was more like 15/16 weeks so I'm not holding on to hat hope too tightly!

Louise34567 · 16/11/2015 09:18

dolly you could ring the NHS 111 number maybe? They tend to refer you and book you an appt sooner than you might have been able to yourself.

Thanks all for the good wishes. Had my appt last night and they said everything should be fine. I think it must have been an extremely bad reaction to the undercooked meat - not food poisoning per se. No vomiting/d. Managed to get a full night's sleep last night. Unheard of and definitely called for! Feel much better this morning; just low-level nausea as usual but I can cope with that :)

mrslewis2015 · 16/11/2015 09:40

What a morning... Felt pretty rough, but not the worst I've felt, this morning, but such terrible cramps from trapped wind and my IBS, called into work and just burst into tears! Now I can't stop, I'm so fed up of feeling so poorly all the time! Of course the door bell rings and I answer it a blubbering mess. Works said to stay off this morning and see how I feel, just feel so pathetic, can't do anything around the house, my poor DH is doing everything and feeling very stressed/worried and all I can do is lie here and try not to throw up the food he so carefully makes me. Eurghh.

Sorry for the moan, bloody hormones!

BiffleRoo · 16/11/2015 12:53

Feel your pain mrslewis I feel unbelievably awful today but can't tell anyone or get any sympathy. DH is doing everything at home as well as working 50+ hours a week.

laughingGnomette · 16/11/2015 14:49

So sorry some of you are feeling so poorly still.

I had my booking in appointment this morning. The poor midwife couldn't get any blood out of my annoyingly tiny veins so I feel like a bit of a pin cusion. They'll try again at my scan. I was relieved to hear that I'll be able to have an elective c-section if I want one. I'm not 100% sure which way I want to go yet but I'm very happy I won't have to fight for a c-section if I decide to go for one. Hooray!

LaPharisienne · 16/11/2015 15:49

Here! 8 + 5 and due June 22 happarently.

Dry heaving all over the place but cheerful and excited!

mrsmugoo · 16/11/2015 15:52

Sorry to hear some of you are feeling rubbish :(

I'm just super mega knackered and this is my day at home with DS who I think has hand foot and mouth...I'm waiting on a callback from the GP. :(
