Anyone else with a ridiculously heightened sense of smell? My neighbours smoke in their gardens, all our windows are closed but I can still smell it when no one else can and its making me gag. Also DH eaten some spicy peanuts and even though he's cleaned his teeth the smell is gross.

Belvedere · 14/11/2015 21:04

Hello all, I've been feeling so awful recently I've just been lurking and reading all your lovely posts.

I've got my booking in on Thursday. Mrsmugoo, it will be interesting to see when you get your scan app as we are going to different hospitals in the same city. The midwife told me that it can be anything up to 14 weeks for the nuchal, so could still be ages away. Argh! So tired of waiting now. I also wasn't allowed to even make my booking in app till I was 6 weeks. So many rules and regs!

Good luck to all and your lovely scans over the next couple of weeks

Potkettleblack2 · 14/11/2015 21:04

Yes! And the heightened sense of smell doesn't help the nausea!

Belvedere · 14/11/2015 21:08

And yes to the smell! I'm round at my dads and all I can smell is the bunch of flowers at the other side of the room, the parents think I'm mad as I can't smell it and they smell like snot!

And the other day I was showing someone round a house (for work) and the smell of fag breath on him was making me wretch, I've got used to hiding it in coughs. Grossness

Lovelybeano · 14/11/2015 21:33

Here here for the smell, have to be careful and not cook anything later than 5/6 so I can have the windows open and fragrance burner on to get rid of the smell !!

mrsmugoo · 14/11/2015 21:34

Belvedere are you St Mike's then? I'm Southmead even though I live in Clifton that's what I chose last time.

Belvedere · 14/11/2015 21:40

Yes mrsmugoo. I gave birth at st mikes last night and will go there again, I'm in Southville :)

Will be interesting to see the differences. I remember last time my scan app came through really quickly.

Belvedere · 14/11/2015 22:01

Sorry for typo, I didn't give birth last night!! Haha

BabySocks · 15/11/2015 07:18

:)

JellyBaby26 · 15/11/2015 07:39

I've just been reading the childbirth threads and it's made me so bloody excited!!

Lovelybeano · 15/11/2015 07:53

Erm.....I wouldn't say I'm excited about the childbirth jellybaby lol more excited for the day I get to come home :)

iamdivergent · 15/11/2015 08:10

I had a home birth last time (unplanned) and I'm seriously considering one this time. They're all for them in my local authority. I birthed quickly both times so I'm just hoping it's the same this time.

Snowflake16 · 15/11/2015 08:42

Nehagarg I've also got my 12 week scan on Wenesday, I'm so excited.
I'm 12 weeks tomorrow and starting to get a little bump, it's getting real now.

Lovelybeano · 15/11/2015 08:46

9 weeks today and a little hand has appeared on ovia app daaww teeny tiny

SliceofLemon · 15/11/2015 08:49

More spotting....I'm 9 weeks today and wanting to get excited about my embryo graduating to foetus and only 3 weeks 1 day to wait until 12 week scan but I've got more brown spotting! Been on and off for more than two weeks now. Anyone else had or having this? I'm going to ring midwife again tomorrow. Don't know if I'll get another early scan!?

MollieRos · 15/11/2015 09:42

Lemon try not to worry- it seems like loads of people on here have had spotting, and around 9 or 10 weeks seems common too. But definitely speak to the midwife tomorrow for reassurance and see what she says. Hope you manage a relaxing sunday.

obsessedlex · 15/11/2015 09:49

I've had spotting all the way through - I'm 9 weeks now, saw a healthy little heartbeat at 6 weeks so really just keeping everything crossed for my 12 week scan and trying to think that MOST pregnancy's are straightforward and healthy.
On another note I love this forum but I think we probably bring as much worry as we stop! Xx

Lovelybeano · 15/11/2015 10:07

lemons epu told me I was likely to have more bleeding because of the bleed in the womb but to still call when it happens so I would give your midwife / epu a call to keep them posted on the situation, they may or may not offer you another scan, try not to worry xxxx

GrubbyWindows · 15/11/2015 10:20

lemon it sounds like you are being very level headed and wise!

I woke up at 4 in the morning feeling absolutely dire, lots of diarrhoea, heaving, that godawful up and down rushing shaky feeling. I've just been sick (not happened so far as a pregnancy symptom, just nausea) so I'm having a panic about food poisoning. The nhs says not to worry about stomach bugs, but to see someone about food poisoning... But doesn't explain how to tell them apart! Nobody else in the house is ill, and we ate the same food yesterday.

Ugh. Back to bed to doze and fret for me...

nehagarg · 15/11/2015 11:11

Definitely give midwife a call lemons. Its probably nothing. Loads of us have had spotting off and on. I had it at 5 and then again at 9 weeks too. Hopefully midwife can bring you in for another scan and put your mind at rest.

Sorry you are feeling poorly grubby

Yaay Snowflake. You and me are due date buddies too. How exciting. Out of interest, I have been feeling little bubbles at the spot where I know the baby is. Cant make up my mind if its baby or gas. Grin ... Have you had anything yet? This is my first so I am very skeptical that I could be feeling anything this early on.

Also, my mum has landed herself in A&E (possible broken leg but dont know yet. She cant walk at all) so I am on my way to Oxford now. Been stressing about her for a couple of days. She has had a stroke (years ago) and cant communicate well. Dad is out of the country so cant help.

Trouble is - DH has become a mother hen stressing about my levels of stress causing the baby harm. I cry easily when I am frustrated and that's bothering him so he is clucking about trying to calm me down, bless him, but all that's doing is making me wish he'd leave me alone to deal with this. I am being such an idiot.

Oh dear, after several days feeling much less sick and not actually throwing up/retching, I've been feeling awful this morning. Had to dash to be sick earlier. I really hope this isn't a sign of things to come, I was getting used to feeling a bit better!

nehagarg I hope your mum's ok, perhaps it'll be a bit easier once you're there with her nd more easily able to help rather than worrying about her from a distance? Sending positive thoughts her way.

SliceofLemon · 15/11/2015 12:04

Thank you for all the reassurance everybody. It does seem common!

grubby that does sound more than just pregnancy related but hopefully not food poisoning if you all ate the same. I think you'd be more likely to throw up repeatedly if poisoning? Definitely get some rest!

Oh dear nehagarg, I'm sure you're not being an idiot. Sounds like a stressful situation at the best of times. Can you just tell DH exactly what you need from him at this moment and hopefully you'll feel better once you're with your mum! Best of luck xxx

nehagarg · 15/11/2015 13:16

Thanks Mollie and Lemon. At the hospital now and seen mum so much better. Next step - calm 90 year old grandma down. She is imagining all the worst case scenarios she can come up with, bless her.

DH is calmer too now that I am calmer. Grin

nehagarg I'm glad everything is ok with your mum. Flowers
That's great that were due date buddies, this is also my first. I've not felt any bubbles yet.

Rose2806 · 15/11/2015 14:44

Haven't been around for a while as been really busy, I went to my conference in the end which was good but it was so hard having to act normal when I really didn't feel it! Glad to be home now :-)

Sorry to hear people are still having a hard time with the symptoms and sad to hear mrsunsure's news:-(

I'm still having nausea most of the time, start retching in the morning if I don't eat quick enough and feel really tired all the time, at 8+5 now.

I have a cooking course next week (booked before I went off food and actually enjoyed cooking still!) and some of the things they make are souffle and ice cream.. I told the cooking school I was pregnant and they use pasteurised eggs so should be fine.. Would you guys feel comfortable with that? I don't have to eat much of it but would be nice to taste what I have made!
