Welcome dirtycat it is such a scary time isn't it , but I do know there is lots of power in positive thought x

LucilleLeSueur · 30/10/2015 07:19

Placemarking as I still can't edit the stats sheet!

On holiday in my home town for half term - told both sets of parents and my sister. I'm feeling absolutely terrible, so I felt I had to (still not been sick though!) and also my mother-in-law kept giving me potent booze (love her).

Everyone is thrilled, but I'm going to keep it from my girls until after the scan/ Harmony test on 24 November. Then hopefully we can tell them whether they'll have a sister or brother!

mrsmugoo · 30/10/2015 07:27

So last thing I did before bed last night was throw up and first thing I did this morning was have the runs (sorry TMI!)

I've just ordered travel acupressure bands and preggie pop nausea relief sweets from Amazon next day delivery!

Thankfully my DS is only just waking up so I've had a chance for a cup of tea in bed (which might stay down) before I have to move and make his breakfast - moving makes me nauseous!

I'm not working for the next 4 days so going to have to cope with this sickness with him around - since it kicked in on Tuesday I've been working which has been so much easier to deal with!

BiffleRoo · 30/10/2015 07:56

nehagarg I have one with DS and will probably get it out again later in the pg. I didn't use it often but it was nice for DH as he was away for a large chunk of my pg and my DDs enjoyed it too.

Belleboo23 · 30/10/2015 08:03

Marking place!! :) feeling very sicky today think i may throw up when i go to brush my teeth that always sets me off for some reason

Belleboo23 · 30/10/2015 08:23

can anyone point me in the right direction to find more out about the harmony test ive read that a few times on here and is it available on the nhs

graycier · 30/10/2015 08:34

Hi belvedere
I had bad nausea with my first. Went to the doctors and they prescribed me anti sickness tablets which made a HUGE difference. Felt human again. I went After 5 days of it. Dr told me off for waiting so long to go. Said no point suffering for so long and should have gone sooner.
Hope you get something to help.

17caterpillars1mouse · 30/10/2015 08:58

Lex I've been using the travel sickness bands for a week now, they lessen my nausea though don't completely get rid of it. These and a constant supply I worther's originals are what are getting me through my daily 5 hours at work though. I start at 4am and getting up at 3am my sickness is awful

Iis anybody having constant nightmares about mc. I have them every other night, its really getting me down :( though last night I dreamt I had twins which was scary too lol

MagicDucky · 30/10/2015 08:58

Marking my place, just going to sit in the corner and eat cake!

bikingintherain · 30/10/2015 09:31

Another one in favour of going to the doctors for those feeling very rough. I'm on anti sickness tablets this time round. Even though I wasn't actually being sick I couldn't really eat and could barely drink and was in bed all the time. The GP was very sympathetic, I wasn't sure he would do anything.

It doesn't solve it completely, but it means I am able to function and get to work and even thought there are times I still feel very rough I hate to think what I would be like without them.

I've also recently been drinking a couple of slices of fresh ginger and lemon in boiling water. It doesn't leave the nasty taste that I find nearly all other food does.

mrsmugoo · 30/10/2015 11:40

Belleboo - harmony is only available privately as far as I'm aware. It's a blood test from the mother from which they can extract foetal DNA. In my private hospital I believe it's £700.

GuessHowMuchILoveGin · 30/10/2015 11:47

The Harmony test isn't available on the NHS. I know it costs about £400 privately and The Fetal Medicine Centre in London do it. If you Google that their website is good.

GuessHowMuchILoveGin · 30/10/2015 11:47
Mrspopper · 30/10/2015 11:53

Harmony is available on NHS at kings as couple of friends had it there. You'd need to be under that hospital to get it free.

Rose2806 · 30/10/2015 12:24

What does harmony actually test for?

Need to look up those wrist bands I think!

nehagarg · 30/10/2015 13:04

I can imagine how much fun it can be to involve other DCs with the doppler Biffleroo .. This is my first so I'll just have DH jumping up and down ... Grin .. Tried the doppler today. Found the heartbeat for about 5 seconds and then couldnt find it again. Makes me think the doppler upsets the baby and it swims away.

Anyhoo, won't try it again for another week at least.

Afternoon ladies. Hope sickness and nausea isn't too bad for you all today. Been feeling a little nauseous today but feeling constantly hungry. My boobs are really tender and sore too.
Looks like my little Pika bean is just reminding me that they are there. Can't really forget it though Grin

Dirtycat · 30/10/2015 15:20

I haven't got any symptoms today at all Sad

I know those of you who are throwing your guts up will probably think I'm lucky, but I'm so scared. Is it worth getting a Doppler - what do people think? Can it harm the baby? Must be quite reassuring on days like this to have a little listen??

JellyBaby26 · 30/10/2015 15:23

All websites say do not get a Doppler . I won't get one but its personal preference.

Finally got early scan date of next Tuesday - nervous & excited !

JellyBaby26 · 30/10/2015 15:25

www.countthekicks.org.uk/mums/your-babys-movements/why-shouldnt-i-use-a-home-doppler/

This is probably something more relevant in lAter pregnancy x

nehagarg · 30/10/2015 15:34

I agree with Jellybaby, Dirtycat ... Dopplers cause more harm than good. In later pregnancy, like jelly says, presence of a heartbeat can cause a mother to ignore other obvious signs of distress and not seek help and in early pregnancy, not finding the heartbeat because the baby is so small can cause an unnecessary worry. I tried my doppler a few days ago and didnt find a heartbeat but I am not much of a worrier as I know how finicky dopplers can be this early but I can absolutely understand someone panicking.

Dopplers can be a reassurance but if there is any chance you would depend on them for knowing the well being of your baby, they are not a good idea.

That said, symptoms come and go .. My boobs feel normal today and I havent had any nausea and even have some of my energy back Shock ... but all is well. Pretty sure I'll be back to the grind tomorrow or the day after.

My doc said symptoms come in waves because hormones double every 2-3 days, so they are worst when your hormones have doubled and then over the next day or 2, your body gets used to it and you feel better. Hugs

HarleyQuinn90 · 30/10/2015 15:49

I won't be getting a Doppler, my aunties a midwife though so if I have any worries I'll be asking her to run down with hers GrinI didn't think you could hear their heartbeat this early? The midwifes never got their Doppler out on me until around 18-20 weeks.

nehagarg · 30/10/2015 16:05

Its hit and miss Harley ... I lost mine after 5 seconds Smile .. How lucky to have a midwife aunty!

OP posts:
HarleyQuinn90 · 30/10/2015 16:24

I do feel blessed to have her, I'm worried about bothering people with stupid questions so the ones I'd be too scared to ask my midwife I can annoy my auntie with Grin
I just got an email from pg tips congratulating me Hmm how did they know Confused
