I don't think there is a thread for the July moms yet!
I'm due on July 2nd, just 4.5wks at the mo, but feel like I've known for ages as got a positive 5 days early on an early response! No real symptoms so far just a bit of cramping and some instant extra weightHalloween Biscuit.
This is dc3 for us. Haven't made any appointments yet. Looking forward to the next 8 months!

Hello! Here on advice from another mumsnetter. Just found out I'm pregnant with baby number 1. Am completely terrified if I am being honest!

CultureSucksDownWords · 05/11/2015 20:58

Hello Indians Thanks

Smile I do like a nice Brie!

EllieJayJay · 05/11/2015 21:06

Excellent you found us :) I will be heading off to bed soon - have gone from night owl to falling asleep at 9pm owl...

CultureSucksDownWords · 05/11/2015 21:08

Welcome Pregasaurusrex (great name!) - it's completely normal to be terrified even when it's a planned pregnancy. It's a complete shock either way. I'm expecting DC2 and I'm still a bit stunned and in denial!

Regarding what to do next, I would phone your GPs and ask them what their system/process is, as I think it can be different depending on your area. You'll have a long booking in appointment first where you'll get your pregnant notes to keep with you, and then be booked in for a 12 week scan (can be a couple of weeks either side of 12wks in actuality).

LaytexSales · 05/11/2015 21:14

Hi ladies, I'm the missing thread starterGrin I haven't been on as I have been hiding under the duvet! I honestly feel about 4 months gone. I have been really ill for the last few days, not so much throwing up, but really nauseous and just a bit out of it! I'm totally bloated also! I don't have much of an appetite, but if I don't eat regularly I start to feel sick, and get a severe pain in my stomach as if I haven't eaten in days! I'm starting to wonder about twins too as I had no symptoms this early on previous pregnancies. I also had a early positive at 5 days before AF, 10 dpo.

It's great to see all the new posters and the excitement! I'm not in the UK, got a call today about my 1st scan which will be mid dec. think I will be 11+3, so nice to have it before Christmas!

Beautician you will have no problems with the non alcoholic koppenburg. It's very easy to cover up not drinking in your own house, I've done it a few times. Had a dinner party a few days after I found out and had non alcoholic red wine (others were on white), just kept the bottle in the kitchen. I've never tasted the koppenburg but many of the alcohol free beers are nice and taste just like the real thing! (Well, for a while..). The wine on the otherhand just looks the part, no taste resemblance I'm afraid!

5+5

Hello laytex god to hear from you we were wondering where you were. Sorry to hear you've been ill though that sounds rough. I'm usually under the duvet when I do mumsnet on my tablet as it's the only time of the day i get a moments peace.

Welcome indians and pregasaurus and congratulations to both of you. Hope this thread helps you get your head round it all and see all the rest of us are in the same boat.

Bluebell20 · 05/11/2015 22:07

Good lord ladies, this thread has blossomed somewhat this evening!

Hi and welcome to all our new BFPs, and really sorry to hear that you feel so rough Laytex!

My paranoia of the day is lifting things... I have just been helping a friend move, and although I was quite careful not to lift anything outrageously heavy, I nonetheless did quite a lot of picking up and carrying things like computer towers and now I am worrying... Arrggggghhh! Must resist the temptation to wrap self in cotton wool!

After falling fast asleep on sofa, am now in bed WIDE awake! And feeling very warm

Wishing you feeling improved soon Latex xx

Still trying to track down this wine that supposedly actually tastes like "real" wine but would agree Latex the ones I've tried from the supermarket of late just look the part :) and actually taste rather like old socks

EllieJayJay · 05/11/2015 22:29

I've found that with pregnacare too... Found a cracker and glass of milk with lots of water to swallow tablet seems to help

LuckyinOctober · 06/11/2015 06:31

Hi ladies, tentatively joining you all on the journey - BFP was on Tuesday, delighted but amazed to be pregnant at first try as it took my mum 4 years to get pregnant with me and had expected it to take longer! We're recently married and actually still on honeymoon, so was in Honolulu when got the positive test result. I suspected when I had an irresistible craving for BBQ steak as someone who had been veggie for 20 years at that point - steak was delicious though! I've got the nausea, sore swollen boobs and tummy stretching feelings too. Hope the ladies who're poorly feel better soon. Sure I have those days to come too, and that even the worst ones will pass and be worth it in the end! Smile - also I'm currently 4+2, very very early days so trying to balance taming my enthusiasm with allowing myself to enjoy what is probably the happy time in pregnancy - estimated due date by Ovia is 12th July, being still on honeymoon not contacted GP or midwife yet.

SoniaShoe · 06/11/2015 07:18

Wow luckyinoctober what a great story and a lovely thing to happen on your honeymoon. Congratulations and welcome. Enjoy the rest of your honeymoon!

EllieJayJay · 06/11/2015 08:31

That's lovely Lucky X

Congratulations, I'm not very far ahead of you :) 8th July for me and a "first-try" for us too!

Ellizardo · 06/11/2015 09:15

Hi All, hope to join! Found out I was pregnant last night with my second child. Only had my first, Teddy, in March so W.T.F.??!! - practically an immaculate conception - but thrilled. I am an ancient old crone at 39 so very pleased that we've come this far at least. Due 8th July too Ellie!

I've cut and paste what I think might be the latest list but a few of you should be added I think?

Just self-referred to the midwife at the local hospital as GP receptionist was lacksadaisical to say the least...their first appointment not until 24 Nov?!

Symptoms fine so far, just need to pee a lot and noticed the baby weight from DS1 wasn't shifting. So it wasn't the cheese after all!

Bluebell love your posts! Capture the excitement of it all...and it is so exciting!

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 06/11/2015 09:19

Loki my DH is convinced this one is a girl as my boobs hurt and never have before and because of the early test as that's never happened before. After 3 boys a girl would be nice but I'm sure it's 99% more likely to be another boy. We won't be finding out until the birth this time.

Hi Indians congratulations. Pregnacare made me feel really sick in my last pregnancy. This time I'm taking seven seas pregnancy , they contain ginger too so I'm hoping they may help with any sickness. I'm having no problems with them.

Ellie I was on ww too as I have about 2 stone of weight to lose from ds3. I had only lost half a stone so hoping not to put much on or I'll be like a whale. Are you sticking to ww or eating what you want.

Hi pregasaurasrex I love the name. Congratulations.
*
Laytex* great to see you back. Where abouts are you then. Hope you feel better soon.

Lucky what a lovely story. Enjoy the rest of your honeymoon.

Well no more symptoms. Other than tiredness and struggling to sleep I feel pretty good. I'm hoping I'm not speaking to soon and that I don't get a sudden load of symptoms.

Hi Ellizardo I have a Teddy as well born in May 2013. It's funny as my DHs birthday is the 8th July.

Welcome Pregasaurusrex LuckyinOctober indians and anyone else I've missed. Glad to see this thread is starting to pick up. Sorry to hear those who are feeling poorly.
Beautician you will definitely get away with non-alcohol cider this weekend-great idea! Will also be drinking the same at a fireworks party tomorrow. Have instructed husband as my decoy & to subtly down any glasses of wine that get given to me!!

What's everyone else's plans for the weekend?

EllieJayJay · 06/11/2015 10:16

Hi Elliz - I'm also fast approaching 38, so we are also similar in age as well as due date :) nice to meet you! My appointment is not until Decemeber which is way to long for me to wait as a first timer! So am putting myself in for an early scan with a private hospital, going out of my mind with nerves already! And think I'm about to board the "vomit comet" as several times this morning I've had a violent reaction to normal pleasant smells - the start of week five has arrived!

Beautician - I've just purchased "what to expect - what to eat" or something like that loved the main book so think this will help - so far I've eaten a lot of cheese! In fact I took a "break" from WW what turned out to be a week before I found out just because I was constantly ravenous and could not get burgers out of my head or cheese! So I'm going to keep my app to track my food to make sure I eat the dairy I need for "sprout" and to track my caffeine (giving up alcohol was easy, smoking relatively easy, cherry Pepsi max has been so damm difficult!) I fear if I don't track my food intake I may take eaging for two as to mean two adults (must remember I'm eating for two but one is really very small!) have put on 5lbs this week!! But am extremely bloated and think 3lbs of this is on my ever increasing boobs!

Indians - interestingly I've struggled with my breathing, had asthma as a kid and I'm out of breath doing my usual walking (I do a good 10-15k steps per day and walk quick) and I'm not sure if it's just because I am literally exhausted (it's 10am and honestly I could do with a nap already) or if it's a symptom - keep reading that walking/running will make you less tired but so far haven't been able to get into it

SoniaShoe · 06/11/2015 10:23

indians I've added you to the stats below. I've guessed where your due date might be. These will probably all change when we get our 12 week scans anyway.

It's great to have so may of us going through the same experiences.

I can't stop eating toast too. Or carbs generally. And I usually avoid bread and pasta as much as possible because it makes me fat but I'm letting myself have it but trying to avoid sugar.

I've got friends staying this weekend, a couple and their kids. We're just going to tell them about the pregnancy but ask them to keep it quiet. It's just easier than explainin the not drinking and being tired etc. At least it's a good excuse to eat loads as we feed them.

EllieJayJay · 06/11/2015 10:34

Have a question to those ladies who have done this before, did you take your partners to your first MW appointment or did you keep that first one just for you?

When I go for the early scan will 100% take the DP, and I'm sure he will want to come along to the first MW appointment - but I'm not sure how these things work and if its better to go to the first one on your own to get the lay of the land so to speak - confess to any "mistakes" you may have made like drinking too much caffeine for example ;) or things you might be worried about that maybe you don't want DP to hear because you feel that they might then over worry - his first Google was about sex, I mentioned about not touching a drop of alcohol throughout and he then started googling that as I had drank far too much champagne on the Saturday (BFP Monday)

My DP is a wonderful man and super supportive, I don't want to hurt his feelings but not sure if the first one is usually just for mum? So am asking the question x

CultureSucksDownWords · 06/11/2015 10:44

I didn't take my partner to any of my midwife appointments. The first one is really just for you, as there are loads of questions they need to ask you. You will need to know about your partners immediate family - I was asked things about illnesses on his side. They ask you about smoking, drinking, drugs and so on. Fundamentally it's a medical appointment about you, rather than about the baby. So, it's up to you if you want to take your DP, but if you wouldn't normally take him to a GPs appointment then I wouldn't take him to the booking in appointment.

photographerlady · 06/11/2015 10:48

Welcome indians, pregasaurus, LuckyinOctober

Ladies when is everyones booking appointment? I went in last week to tell the GP and he took my blood pressure. New area so have no idea if I will actually see the midwife before my 12 week scan. I am going to be out of the country as well so not even sure if they will let me rebook it. (Have a cheeky private scan booked in)

SoniaShoe · 06/11/2015 10:48

I love the way you sound like you're always drinking champagne elliejay ??

Last time I did take my DP but it's pretty non eventful for them. It's just blood tests and questions and stuff so you don't have to. TheRe is nothing wrong with the dad going the midwife won't be surprised I don't think. And it's nice to keep them involved otherwise they can feel left out with all these appointments. I don't think DP is that bothered about coming this time ad it's on a weekday.
