I don't think there is a thread for the July moms yet!
I'm due on July 2nd, just 4.5wks at the mo, but feel like I've known for ages as got a positive 5 days early on an early response! No real symptoms so far just a bit of cramping and some instant extra weightHalloween Biscuit.
This is dc3 for us. Haven't made any appointments yet. Looking forward to the next 8 months!

Hello to the new posters!

I've got that stingy boob pain too. Almost more burny than stinging? Not all the time though. Actually they aren't hurting as much as usual today. (Worries)

I got my flu jab and asked the GP about extra folic acid because of my high bmi. She hadn't a clue what I was on about but was quite happy to hand out a prescription anyway, so I'll pick that up tomorrow. I hope it's not too late, as I'm already 6 weeks. (Worries more)

I'm swithering about whether or not to shell out for an 8 week scan. I've got a date for my 12 week (18 December) but it seems so far away...

EllieJayJay · 05/11/2015 18:52

So glad I read the other posts congratulations ladies on your BFP's! And sorry to hear so many are experiencing the sickness symptom I'm really nervous about that, as I am not good with being sick and have a medical condition where if I get dehydrated I get unwell quite quickly.

I keep going through the notion of "is this really happening" and panic doing a test - I have enough symptoms to know this happening but still find it unbelievable (37, and happened first try) and I'm having lots of symptoms similar to you ladies so yes this is happening.

I'm very glad to have found this spot on Mumsnet :)

EllieJayJay · 05/11/2015 18:54

Hi you and me :)

I've just decided to go for an early scan under my own steam, my appointment with the MW is not until December and I will be up the walls by the time I get a scan on the NHS... I've just been investigating in case you haven't (sure you have) but they are usually between £80-£150 and can be done from 6weeks

CultureSucksDownWords · 05/11/2015 19:01

I did another pregnancy test today (bought them specially!) just to double check as the first ones I did were quite faint. The line went dark pink almost immediately so I felt quite reassured. Now I have to try and not do the other one in the pack! And accept that I am pregnant Smile

Can I ask, those with NHS scan dates, have you had an appt with a GP/midwife already? I don't know whether I should be organising anything about the scan myself, although the GPs receptionist said I didn't need to do anything else at the moment.

Hamsolo · 05/11/2015 19:13

I'm going to my GP tomorrow to check in (and ask about the flu jab, and whether I should take the higher dose of folic acid). I think I'll be 5 + 4. I'm not sure if they'll refer me to the midwives yet. It's such early days...

EllieJayJay · 05/11/2015 19:14

Culture, I just ordered four of the cheap ones from tesco the one I did earlier went positive practically instantly too - it's happening :) eeekk!

I have no idea what I'm doing either, I booked an appointment with a doctor at my surgery I was her first ever patient in the surgery and she didn't even check about the medication I am on (I've stopped it all) have my MW appointment booked early December but will be going nuts by then, so I think given the medication I'm going to sneak in an appointment with my normal GP.

Jem01 · 05/11/2015 19:18

Welcome to all the new posters!

bluebell a time lapse video is a great idea and is lovely to look back on once it's complete :-)

culturesucks my 12 week scan is booked but no news about an appt with my midwife. Hoping to get a letter in the next week or so with the details. I would have thought midwife appt gets booked first but as It's my first pregnancy not sure on how it all works! Hopefully some of the others with more experience will shed some light on this..

EllieJay if I didn't get my scan booked in before Christmas would have definitely booked a private one too.

CultureSucksDownWords · 05/11/2015 19:27

You'd think I'd know what to do given this is the second time for me, but I've forgotten it all really! I do remember that last time, I had an appt with the GP before ttc as I was concerned about the medication I was on then. She said to come back immediately I knew I was pregnant and she would review medication, and in fact then changed what I was on. I just don't remember how the midwife appointments worked, and it seems like quite a short amount of time between my appointment (19th Nov) and the Christmas holiday period. Not sure if they'll be able to book me in for a scan before Christmas itself. I suppose it's not the end of the world of its after Christmas, but I'd really like to have a scan picture to show everyone (assuming all is ok).

Cookiesandcoffee · 05/11/2015 19:34

Welcome loki and ellie lovely to have you.
flowers and beautician my MiL is also poorly. A recent Failed op and about to start chemo- I don't know when is the right time to tell her?! We are keeping it secret until we have told them. Which is going to be hard as I'm struggling with jeans and tight non stretchy tops.
bluebell I always eat loads during my pregnancies. Trying not to put on loads of weight this time and I work in fitness so doesn't look good! But all I want is salty garlicky food. Nuts are a good shout! I love nut butters, hazelnut is my favourite and I use apples or cucumber to dip in. Or hummus and dipping carrot sticks!

Tested 11dpo here whoever mentioned. Lots of twins in DHs family but so far we have been lucky!

Sorry to hear about those are really sick. Hopefully it will pass and you won't have it for long.

Eeekk whoever said they have their scan date, how exciting!

Bluebell time lapse sounds fab. I can't do one as I'm too fat already with a jelly belly Sad

Hi Loki Welcome & congratulations. I think I was on the October bus with you briefly.

Elliejay welcome & congratulations. I am the same holding my boobs when I use the stairs haha.

Culture I have never organised my own scan when you see the midwife at the booking appointment they either phone and book you one there and then or you get an appointment letter through.

Jem the midwife usually calls you to arrange an appointment it's usually at 8 weeks. During the appt they ask you various questions address, where you want baby, previous pregnancies, medication etc and they take bloods.

I don't really have any major symptoms. I'm peeing lots, sore boobs and I have stretchy feelings in my uterus like pulling. I did another test again today and a strong line came up quickly.

Do you all think I will get away with the non-alcoholic Koppaberg at our party this weekend.

Ha ha Beautician - am glad it's not just me!

It's my birthday on Monday :) I was fairly sure that if the bloating wasn't going to give it away (have been on WW for six months..) that the fact I've suddenly stopped smoking, won't be drinking and my usual birthday cake of Brie will be missing that the cat may would be out the bag - so have changed plans and just spending with DP and my mum (who nearly screamed my ear off down the phone when I told her) I've invested in a sparkling non alcoholic wine thing and becks blue :) and your definitely get away with the koppenburg bottle looks identical and if you shove it in a pint glass with ice no-one will be none the wiser :)

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 05/11/2015 20:03

All the new joiners remember to add yourselfs to the stats list.

Is there still no news from the lady that started the thread ?

SoniaShoe · 05/11/2015 20:12

Welcome elliejay and loki and congratulations!

Elliejay I don't know why your midwife appointment isn't until December. That seems odd because it's usually around 8 weeks. Beautcian has already said most of this but it's usually:

  • gp appointment, to check you are OK with the pregnancy etc (not all surgeries )
  • 8 week midwife booking-in appointment. Your doc surgery will make this. They will then register you in the system with the hospital, give you more info, and setup your next appointments
-12 week scan (usually booked after 8 week app but some of you have been lucky to get those appointments already)

I'm definitely going to need to pay for an 8 week scan on top as I'm getting way too impatient.

I had a huge craving today in the supermarket when I saw a rotisserie chicken! Had to have it and as soon as I got home I ate loads before unpacking the shopping. And I loved the skin too and I normally hate skin. Definitely a craving.

DH is convinced that because my symptoms are different then this one must be a boy! He bought a bottle of fizzy schoeler home tonight to celebrate! We are currently debating when to tell people. I don't want to tell dd just yet because she will tell all of her little friends and her teacher (she is only 4) and dh is a teacher at her school. I am a teacher at the secondary school closest to dd and dh's primary school. The parents at both schools will find out with minutes which could make it difficult at work or if the worst happens. However, I don't want to tell our parents before dd. I'm thinking of having a reassurance scan a couple of days before Christmas (I will be 10 weeks plus) and then telling them in Christmas day. My mum is likely to kill me for keeping it a secret though!Grin

SoniaShoe · 05/11/2015 20:23

beautician I think the kopperburg is a great idea. We have friends staying this weekend too (although we're not having a party like you) and we were thinking we'll have to tell them as I usually drink red wine and they like their wine too so I'm sure they'll guess. And elliejay you're probably right your friends would probably have guessed, but what a lovely way to spend your birthday this year (and what a great reaction from your mum). Does anyone know of any good non-alcoholic sparkling wine? I've never tried it before but I like the sound of it.

EllieJayJay · 05/11/2015 20:30

It was the first appointment she had available, I think I will call up next week and see if I can get an earlier one - I will be out of my mind by then! It will be nine weeks by then if my calculation are correct, it's not too far off the 8 but I'd much rather be seen as soon as possible given age and condition I have.

My crazy craving is bacon crisps and maltesers... Together... My DP almost threw up as I discussed adding pickled cucumbers to the mix. I thought it would be too soon for this sort of thing but I wouldn't normally want this crazy combo!

I have invested in the book What to Expect when expecting and have found it marvellous!

EllieJayJay · 05/11/2015 20:31

Years ago I found a website that sold non-alcoholic champers for a pregnant friend, have been trying to find it - soon as I do will post it on here as whilst it was about the same price as a good bottle of wine it tasted pretty similar to the real deal according to pregnant friend!

SoniaShoe · 05/11/2015 20:38

Thanks ellie I'll look out for that sounds good

CultureSucksDownWords · 05/11/2015 20:40

Ellie, you could still have Brie, it just needs to be cooked well - maybe you could do a baked one this year instead?

Ooooo yes I could, mum makes one smothered in cranberry sauce, wrapped in streaky bacon and then all tucked up neatly in a pastry parcel at Christmas...

How cooked does it have to be? As I did see something about if it was cooked it would be ok but does it need to go to a particular temperature or just that goopy lovely mess??

Am salivating...

EllieJayJay · 05/11/2015 20:45

And hugs culture for a great idea and reminder - think I'm so tired at the moment I'm not thinking straight at all!

CultureSucksDownWords · 05/11/2015 20:48

The NHS website just says hot all the way through, so the gooey runny stage is what you're after I think. I had a Brie melt for lunch today, and honestly didn't remember about the mouldy cheese ban! Fortunately it had been well grilled and was very hot and oozy.

EllieJayJay · 05/11/2015 20:54

Oh I just love Brie! And had been not eating it due to being on WW - in one mad moment of tear driven emotion I cried and then said and I won't be able to eat Brie for ages!! (Really very embarrassing as was a sniffling wreck and am usually a very together lady!)

Now I'm going to attack the little breaded ones I have in the freezer that cook in the oven :) which I brought to make some form of starter at the weekend :)

I think I love you Culture for reminding me and advising me on this very important topic Smile

EllieJayJay · 05/11/2015 20:56

Sorry Indians my talk of Brie may mean people miss you so waving hello :)
