Indom I know. Sort of puts all my whinging about an aching back and a cough into perspective! Just horrible.

BeautifulLiar · 14/11/2015 08:49

I know, I saw that just after my last comment on here and then couldn't sleep for hours. What the hell seriously? They really need to be stopped now...

Me624 · 14/11/2015 08:52

Most of my movements are low down too, like missi my placenta is anterior although not sure if it's low or high. I didn't feel anything until 21 weeks, I'm now 24 and feeling lots every day!

Went for a shopping trip with my DM yesterday, my parents are buying us the pram but we are holding off ordering yet as they're bringing out a new model of the one we want soon. So we just bought some darling little cardigans, a sleeping bag and one of those dear hooded towels. feeling slightly overwhelmed by how much there is still to get!

ffauxlivia · 14/11/2015 11:35

Thanks for the reassurances about movement guys!

I couldn't sleep for the Paris thing either - I lived there for 2 years until very recently, and one of my close friends is still waiting to hear from her friend who went to the concert - still unaccounted for so doesn't look good.

Another friend of hers was in a restaurant next door to one that was shot at and hid under tables. My friend was supposed to be at concert- makes it all feel very real and close to home. I had disturbing dreams about being chased by snipers when I did sleep :(

BeautifulLiar · 14/11/2015 11:46

One of my friends from school was shot at on the beach in Tunisia back in June :( he'd been with his fiance for 10 years and told her to run to what he thought was safety but she was killed by a grenade :( it's horrible.

IndomitabIe · 14/11/2015 11:51

It all makes me not want to be human. If this is what humans do to each other.

I'm going to be a cat instead.

QforCucumber · 14/11/2015 12:33

indom considering my 2 cats are currently fast asleep on the sofa I'd say I might join you, such a stress free life they lead.
It is awful, we stayed in a hotel in paris a few doors down from that theatre a couple of years ago, a respite after the mmc. Awful recognising the streets on the news, it is a time where in the uk we should be so grateful of the intelligence we have here, and the fact that our national security is one of the world's best.

Dp felt baby move for the first time last night, it took him a while to believe it - thought it was just me tensing Hmm but then it was flipping and kicking and he got a definite prod. Grin
All of my scans baby has been upside down with its head down, bum up and legs off to the side - as if that's it's scan pose haha!

hayleycookie · 14/11/2015 13:42

Missi glad you have the whole crew supporting you. Hoping flume stays put as long as possible. My friends daughter was born at 24 weeks and apart from a 100 day stay in hospital is perfectly fine. She's now 5 years old and like every other girl her age. They called her Grace :)

Baby has been laying across me with his head at the side and both scans. I can feel him moving outside, but only on the sides. Makes me think my placenta is probably still low and anterior as I haven't had any front movements yet.

Hope everyone who has friends or family in Paris gets good news soon. Have you heard about Gatwick? My friend is an air hostess based at heathrow. Ugh what is the world coming to!

vroc81 · 14/11/2015 16:12

Can't believe it, we're away in a European city for a long weekend and I went to sleep without seeing any of it, it's really unbelievable. There is a noticeable increased police presence around tourist attractions today which is reassuring. Hope it's all settled down at Gatwick by our return.

Indom I always think I would like to be a cat too, ours get up, eat, walk round the garden, sleep, repeat...

Missikat · 14/11/2015 18:27

Thanks hayley, it's good to hear the positive stories and that there dan be good outcomes so early. Have decided to decline the cervical stitch because of risks of inadvertently breaking my waters or bringing on labour by the act of fiddling with my cervix. Instead I've opted for a progesterone suppository regularly now until delivery which can slow the onset of labour. As with all options though nothing is definite and the consultant has said my case is very unusual so not a lot of research or cases to compare to. But he said the signs that nothing further is happening is good, but still reckons whatever I only have 1-2 weeks max. I'm keeping positive for more! Xx

Missikat · 14/11/2015 18:29

And sorry for kind of overtaking the thread these last few days, please don't let my situation put you off still talking lots about your positive baby chat and stories!

IndomitabIe · 14/11/2015 18:36

No, keep posting Missi. Glad there are no further developments. Are you still in hospital?

ThePug · 14/11/2015 18:46

Missi we're all in this together and I'm sure everybody is keen to here from you. You say your consultant says your case is unusual - what exactly is your case? Have they said what's caused your cervix to start opening or where the bleed came from?

I've had a shit day - started off really excited as DH agreed we could go to a shop to play with prams and I'd suggested we could go for lunch afterwards. Had a good play, I thought he was maybe slightly interested but then when we got out of the shop we'd used the full 2 hour car-park max stay so he had a massive strop that we'd now have to go home without lunch. He wouldn't entertain finding somewhere else to park because it was raining. Then on the way home he went on & on about how much of a waste of time it all was as 'they were all the same' and how he thinks the whole baby industry is "consumerism at its worst" playing on new parents. I got really upset by his total lack of interest or enthusiasm, he didn't care and is still being arsey with me now.

So anyway, as DH clearly isn't going to be any use I'll have to discuss prams & car seats with you lot! I went in to look at the Joolz Geo but I was surprised how long and heavy it was. I still love the look of the Joolz though, so might go with the Day which I liked but the basket is small and it doesn't have the flexibility to covert to a duo. Also shortlisted the Uppababy Vista which seems very functional, easy to fold/get seat on & off etc - but it's just not as pretty as the Joolz.

I also went in pretty sure we'd get the Kiddy Evo Lunafix car seat as it lies flat. It fits in the car (just!) but when DH found out that with a Maxi-cosi or BeSafe you'd only have to buy one Isofix base that would be compatible with the 0+ and next stage seats, he can't see the point of the Kiddy, which you'd have to buy everything again at once baby grows out of it. We only use the car for long journeys (1 hour+) as we live in a city, but I think it's only for the first 4-6 months that the lie flat function is really beneficial from a health point of view. And how many journeys are we actually going to go on between March and September.

Any thoughts much appreciated - I'd hoped to talk all this through with DH but I know there is no point trying Sad

IndomitabIe · 14/11/2015 19:14

Ah, ThePug, I can empathise with you there!

But, he's got a point about the consumerism! We started with a second hand cabriofix (shock! I know!) but when DS was 9 months got a Britax First Class Plus extended rear facing group 0-1. (He then got car sick from travelling backwards so the ERF part was a complete waste!) BUT, he still isn't heavy enough to not fit in it (though we did move him into a group 2-3/1-2-3 seat when he turned 4).

So, were intending on sticking with the group 0-1 seat for this one, since as soon as we got the carrier for DS we never used the car seat on the pram wheels anyway. Also, we had a proper lie-flat pram, but hardly used it. So bypassing both this time. The group 0-1 seat seems to be a bit more comfortable for a tiny one too, though not as good as a lie-flat one (though having said that, I think DS hated lying flat most of the time anyway! Especially at night).

But, it is somewhat of a rite of passage. It's nice to be able to make these decisions now with the benefit of hindsight, but I'm not sure I'd have take someone's word for it last time. Grin

BeautifulLiar · 14/11/2015 21:43

Aww Pug, I bet he didn't mean it and was just pissed off about the lack of lunch, then it spiralled. I am horrible when I'm hungry sometimes! He must be at least a little bit interested if he went to look at prams :) I probably won't do that and will just order the Cosatto from Amazon...

Trinpy · 14/11/2015 22:18

Sounds just like my dh, ThePug! I finally got my beautiful Oyster Max today and dh has been moaning about it. So I got fed up and told him he could find something else if he didn't like it, but no - apparently he loves it and thinks its great Hmm. He also complains a lot that we've got far too much baby equipment, blah blah blah, so sometimes its easier to just leave him out of the decision making when it comes to baby-related purchases Grin.

BeautifulLiar · 14/11/2015 22:21

Well Trinpy, I bet he won't be complaining when all the baby stuff is making your lives a lot easier! Our boiler cupboard (it's huge) is absolutely packed with stuff now. It's crazy how much a tiny little thing needs.

marmiteandcheeseplease · 14/11/2015 22:25

Ouch pug that sounds an unpleasant argument! I can see why you'd find it frustrating ... perhaps he was just a bit overwhelmed at all the choice? I have to say I did find the whole 'choosing a travel system' thing a bit stressful with DD and definitely think there is an element of consumerism and preying on slightly vulnerable first timers who have to navigate their way through all the various info! Maybe he was just a bit hangry? (Hungry-angry)? Hope you guys have made up now!

DD has been sick with a terrible cold the past two days with a fever and terrible cough. Was up literally all night last night coughing. Don't think she got more than an hour sleep in one go. DP co slept with her in her room then at 4.45 came to get me to swap. She then was up for the day Sad. So absolutely knackered now but drank so much caffeine today to get me through I now can't sleep!

In Bristol visiting family to celebrate DD's birthday and everyone is going on about how massive I am Confused like um hello maybe not the best thing to say to a pregnant lady? I am getting really self conscious - carrying really low and sticking very far out, I think my stretch marks are gonna get stretch marks of their own Hmm. Having a little wobble about my changing body and huge belly and still having 16+ weeks to go!

Went to IKEA this evening and got a chair for feeding DD2 in, basically a sort of half rocking chair. I've had my eye on it for a while but DPs not been keen, but randomly decided we could get it which was nice!

MyNameIsSuz · 14/11/2015 23:27

Mine's sick too marmite - currently in the out of hours waiting for the doctor Sad he's been chesty all day but woke up about half ten really struggling to breathe, terrifying. Somehow I was still up - normally asleep by half 9! he was very cross about being dragged out in the middle of the night, but I soon heard (sort of, it was a bit strangled) the words 'oh look, a play bit!' and is happily playing away. My poor sausage.

Oh no Suz, really worrying. Hope he's alright.

neh205 · 14/11/2015 23:43

Hello everyone

I've had rather a hectic week too. So much to catch up with on here!

Missi thoughts are with you and will keep everything crossed that flump stays put for as long as pos. I was a premature baby by 5 weeks & had to spend 6 weeks in hospital in intensive care but all fine and never had any long term effects. It is so amazing how much medical care has moved on in last 30yrs so you are in the best place. You sound as though you're thinking positive & staying calm which will help. Try and relax as much as pos, hope you've got plenty of magazines and so on. Big hugs and keep us posted.

ginger I bought a doppler from amazon for £20 really worth the prize and hugely reassuring. Could you get one to help put your mind at ease?

Loving all the baby names! Keep them coming, we are SO stuck. OH is a teacher which makes it harder.

Last week we found out we are having a boy too - so another one for team blue! I'd been convinced it was a boy all along so thrilled to be right! We may have rushed out and got all sorts of cute clothes :p

Have to go back and have another scan as baby was in awkward position and they weren't able to check heart so will be seeing the little one again this week. Placenta laying low so may need to have cesarean they said but will wait to see.

Paris is heartbreaking, I know it's awful but trying not to think of it, just too upsetting.

So nice to be part of this group and see all of the support shining through - renews your belief in good people being out there!

neh205 · 14/11/2015 23:49

ThePug we are also doing NCT. It's our first & I wanted as much info as pos! Also we havent lived in area for long & NCT seems nice way to meet other parents.

I'm feeling guilty for giving up on exercise at the mo but just so busy it's hard to find time.

Also went out & got some new maternity clothes today the few bits i got last month are already getting small on me :p

Gingerlady123 · 14/11/2015 23:53

First of all sorry for being absent from this thread for a few days. Just wasn't feeling good/up to much.

Missi- I want to say how sad I am to hear your news. I can not imagine what is going through your head right now. I am praying that baby stays in for as long as possible and for the best outcome for you and your family. I hope your doing ok though and are managing ok. Do keep us updated.
Mynameissuz- your poor ds. I do hope his feeling better soon and you both manage to get some rest. I can't imagine how horrible it when a little one is unwell. I guess I'll find out soon enough though- I think as mothers we never truly stop worrying about them do we.
Marmite- I hope your dd is better soon as well. I know how you feel about the massive comments, work keep commenting how big my bump is and I hate it for some reason. Even though I don't think it is big.

Having a really anxious weekend at the moment. Been very tearful and have spent most of it lying in bed. Still no proper movements from bubba but oh said when I was asleep last night he felt a kick from her so maybe I'm just missing them. Saw midwife Friday and we heard the heartbeat and she said baby could just of moved and if I've not felt a lot more by 24 weeks to phone her again. I do have a fundal/anterior placenta. Private 17 week scan said anterior and 20 week scan said fundal so maybe she's turned and is kicking into that which I can't feel.

My ohs sister had her little boy today by c section and whilst I'm over the moon for her and can't wait to meet him I feel ever so jealous that she knows his safe and I feel like I'm going to loose my little one. But I feel like such a bad person saying this because of what missi is going through at the moment. I just feel selfish but I just want to know everything is ok and I'm convinced it's not.
I'm also still worried about why I bled those two times after mastrubation that didn't even involved anything being inserted but again I feel guilty saying this.
I just feel really bad at the moment. I spend every waking second thinking about the worst. I wake in the night just lying awake in tears. It's horrible.
I have seen my gp about my anxiety and he has referred me for counselling and has discussed medication with me but I'm in two minds about taking yet again more meds as I've been on anti-emetics this pregnancy. I just feel lost and selfish

Gingerlady123 · 14/11/2015 23:57

Neh- cross posted.
Congrats on your little boy! Even though I was happy either way I feel kind of said I won't have a boy this time, I wanted both hehe.
I do have a Doppler from Amazon still takes ages to find heartbeat but when I do it sounds exactly like a galloping horse. It's a lovely sound.

Re- baby names the latest one oh has suggested is Gabriella and I really like it. Middle name is going to be Louise so not sure if this goes or not with Gabriella

MyNameIsSuz · 15/11/2015 00:38

Thanks indom and ginger, we're back home now and both in bed. They thought it was croup and gave him some steroids, not sure it'll be totally effective as he threw up on the way in the door. But he's calpol-ed up to the eyeballs and snoozing, so I think I can relax a bit. You really don't worry less when they're here, it's just different things to worry about! We're lucky that generally he's a pretty robust little thing and doesn't get ill very often. Was terrifying hearing him gasping for breath like that and seeing the panic on his little face.
